Came for a late night breakfast. First I had a cowboy breakfast. Everything was amazing. Chicken fried steak with red chile and beans. All the flavors were good and the red chile topped it off. To top it off, I had pancakes. They were the best pancakes I've ever had in my whole life. It's like your favorite cake and your favorite pancakes mixed in one. I have been to Lindy's many times and just realized I haven't written a review. Went there for lunch today and had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and veggies. I love mashed potatoes, they are my absolute most favorite food in the world. And I've had them at Lindy's before, and they are good. But, I was sad to taste them today, and discover they tasted off. New recipe? New chef? I don't know, but it tasted like they had sour cream in them and I don't like that. However, I have ordered other things in the past - Burgers, club sandwich, and breakfast (I love breakfast all times of the day) and it's all been good. Service is friendly and quick, food is good, and I'm able to get back to work within my allotted hour. Great place for a quick lunch and I know the new tv show - Roswell - was filmed there, so they have viewing parties. On top of that, on Thanksgiving they provide free meals to anyone who needs one. I will go to Lindy's again, I'll just probably get something other than the mashed potatoes. read more

This was a great place if you want an inexpensive meal for a great price. We came for breakfast i had the steak and eggs With toast and hashbrowns. It was perfect and the price was right. I also came for dinner during my stay. I had the combo plate of a tamale, chicken enchilada, and taco. It came with rice and pinto beans. Both meals just hit the spot on flavor, price, and quality. Steve the owner could not have been more welcoming. The draft selection was fantastic. Not only is the place a piece of history you are eating in but you are treated like family with warm smiles and good home cooked meal. A huge variety of food to select from and great hours. If you are in Albuquerque you need to stop by. It worth the visit just for the hospitality. read more

I've read other reviews of this place, some good, some... Not so good. I'm not going to lie, I was very skeptical about this place but I was very, very pleasantly surprised. This was my first time here and I decided to eat here solely on my wife's memory that she thought it was a good place to eat when she was 13yrs old! So I said sure what the hell. Apparently this place has been around since the 1920's and its your typical diner establishment. Definitely has the look of a diner, which in my opinion is good and bad. I feel being 2015, the diner look needs an upgrade. It's kind of more dive, then diner but considering its location it fits. I ordered a Juicy Lucy- for those that don't know what a "Juicy Lucy" is, it's a burger with cheese stuffed in the middle instead of on top of the burger. I ordered it with green chile and bacon. My wife had a green chile burger. It is my opinion and my opinion alone but I've always said the best burger is the one closes to home and well folks you can't get any closer to home. Their Juicy Lucy is the best burger in ABQ- bold statement I know but true! Now my issue is the green chile had no kick what so ever and that's a travesty but not a deal breaker only because the burger is great. I would suggest to the owners to use Medium chile and run from mild, run fast. Enjoy folks! read more

Disclaimer: I have only tried the New Mexican cuisine at Lindy's. Since they are a 1920s-style diner, I've been told their milkshakes and hamburgers are supposed to be good. Once I've tried these and other diner items, I will update this review and rating. -------- UPDATE: Recently I tried one of their famous milkshakes, and it was nothing less than awesome. Must try their hamburgers. ORIGINAL review: Lindy's is a fun place to dine, mainly because of the traditional 1920s diner feel to the place and because of the people who work and hang out there. The food is decent. However, if you're looking for fresh New Mexican and/or Mexican cuisine here, it doesn't exist. They serve New Mexican food at Lindy's, however, much of it comes pre-packaged. Lindy's buys their guacamole pre-made. They buy their chiles pre-cut. There's no one in the kitchen scooping out avocado pulp from its shell or navigating around all those avocado pits. There's no one in the kitchen wearing rubber gloves to prevent burning fingers from chopping up fresh chiles. Those two pre-packaged ingredients, alone, make for a disappointing dining experience. There's a reason why El Pinto Restaurant was named best restaurant to get guacamole. Their ingredients are fresh and they make it when a customer orders it. I really dislike giving a bad review, but this place has so much potential and history, plus it's conveniently located to us. I couldn't ignore this one. read more

Killer chocolate milk shake. I needed to start my review there. So simple yet so good. It was getting close to the end of my vacation in New Mexico. Decided to check out downtown Albuquerque as I hadn't walked around here earlier in the trip. Also was looking for some lunch. I came upon Lindy's and thought I might give her a shot. Not too crowded when I walked in, but it got busier as my time there went on. There was only one server and she had to do a bit of running around. I ordered a Guacamole Cheeseburger along with the shake. Got a side of potato salad instead of fries. Glad I did as the potato salad was really fresh. Anyway, my burger came out, but the server had yet to make the milk shake. I was a bit mad at that at first but then realized she was by herself and was doing the best she could. I pulled back on eating the burger so that I could enjoy it once my shake came. The burger was good. Nothing amazing. Just good. The shake definitely put the meal over the top. My grandson had the waffles. The waffles were served with a heaping dollop of the worst margarine I've ever eaten. I asked them for real butter, they looked at me as if I was insane. This is not a real chicken fried steak. It's a ground chicken patty breaded and smothered in a reasonable-ish gravy. The hash browns were smothered in grease. The bacon was good! I was really excited to eat here based off reviews, but my opinion has completely changed. 1. Don't advertise a burger and a beer for $7.99 when it only applies to one burger and a Coors. 2. The waitress lied to us, told us any beer and burger, so we did that, and ended up spending $40 because the beers were actually $5 each and the burgers were full price at 9.99. 3. I asked for a medium burger, received more than well done. The "bacon" was gyro meat, not bacon: say that in your menu description. Why would I want a blue cheese burger with gyro meat??? 4. The waitress couldn't remember what we wanted three separate times, didn't know any information about beers or food at all. She brought our check before we even got our food!!! We originally wanted more beer and a piece of pie, but I guess you wanted to finish service way before it was time. It was annoying, and I never leave bad reviews. We were the ONLY customers besides two people sitting at the bar drinking. I'm really disappointed that I wasted close to $50. read more

We were so disappointed--the place was truly dirty and rundown. There was a feel of not caring. The service was adequate, the food was o.k. It was just the dirt and the ambiance that was so unpleasant. We were there for breakfast--so maybe that's not their thing? Not sure--but I am pretty certain we are not going to return. Avoid this place if you are in downtown ABQ. Unfortunately the service is non-existent and there were only two other patrons in the diner. I have included a picture of the manager and one of the waiters eating while we sat patiently to be waited on. Thankfully my daughter got her rootbeer but the waitress never came back to take our order. It was kind of a joke. I felt like we were in the twilight zone. Very dirty too. I've worked downtown for almost a year and have skipped this spot for food because a) they didn't have a menu online for ease of browsing and b) I'm not really a "diner" person. Well that has changed. I took a chance last week and stopped in to pickup some food for lunch. There were several specials so I asked the server for her recommendation. The owner was also there and welcomed me with a warm greeting. I had the gyro special which was served with a Greek salad and a cookie. It was great! I prefer a few extra toppings on my gyro (specifically lettuce) but there was plenty of salad to share the wealth. The tzatziki sauce was flavorful but not overpowering like some and you can't go wrong with a homemade cookie. I wasn't aware the cookie came with the meal so I snagged one of their HUGE brownies. It was nice knowing that you can come in and get your typical diner food (burgers, country fried steak, etc) but they also have lighter options (and Mexican). Breakfast is served all day long for those enthusiasts and there's a value menu where you can snag a sandwich and chips for only $5.99. I'll definitely be back. read more

This is just an ok spot downtown. I visited awhile back (just catching up on my reviews) and I was not too impressed with either the food or the service. The food is authentic New Mexican, but they messed up my order and were annoyed when I asked them to fix it. It's ok, but there are definitely better places downtown than this. read more

Fabulous! The food was excellent and service great. Steven is friendly and outgoing, a very fun guy. Our orders were made to order to perfection. The Gyro was heavenly, guac burger was juicy and had a little kick to it and the mushroom Swiss was succulent. Sorry. Not impressed. I came in after a few beers on a Friday night and ordered a breakfast burrito. Unfortunately for Lindy's, I wasn't drunk enough apparently. The eggs were bland and tasted like they were about seventy percent water. The chile didn't have the kick of the flavor that I needed. It's pretty rare that I comment how much I dislike a meal whilst eating it, but that's what I did here. Bottom line, if you're food isn't going to be agreeable while slightly intoxicated, how the hell will it taste when I'm dead sober? Scary to think about. read more

Went here for breakfast this morning with The Hoff. The service was excellent; our waitress was friendly and chatty (probably due to the Hoff's irresistible charm). She kept our coffee mugs filled without being asked, but always asked before filling them - one of my pet peeves: people who fill your coffee cup without asking if they can first... I work hard to achieve that perfect blend of coffee, cream, and some cancer causing sugar substitute. Just adding coffee in mid cup ruins it. Anyway, I had the eggs and taters, which were pretty good. The potatoes are the shredded kind. Nothing to rave about, but good enough. The eggs were scrambled; no surprises there. The Hoff had some sort of biscuit and gravy concoction. He thought he should have received a side dish of gravy. Did he ask for one? No. Did I suggest he ask for one if he wanted one? Ordered 12 Count traditional wings and it was phenomenal. The wings had dripping off of them and there was more hot sauce on the plate the served it in.
