    Fry bread

Need a hearty meal on a budget? This is your no frills spot. It's a shack, don't expect fast service. It took about 15 minutes for our meal to be made and packed. Wait for your order beeper to blip and you. Eat in your car or at the covered patio area. Be warned you will be bit by ants in the sitting area. They take cash or card as payment. Fry bread beef taco combo came with a side of fry beard! Ask for honey packets for the fry bread. The chicken inside of the enchiladas was dry. The red sauce was mild. Fry bread was great!

What a find! Took a chance based on the other excellent review of this little roadside shack and it paid off! The locals refer to this place as "The Shack". Authentic Native American/New Mexican food. Food was very fresh and super tasty! Everything is made fresh to order, so expect to enjoy a nice breezy wait for your order on the patio or under a shade tree. My husband and I shared a couple of flat bread tacos and crispy corn tacos (I could have ate a half-dozen of them). Our son had the Isleta burger which was sandwiched between two crispy pieces of fry bread. We all finished our lunch while saving room for huge crispy/chewy slabs of fry bread and honey! It's a MUST! They also serve a mean looking funnel cake, but none of us were willing to forgo the fry bread to try it. Three full bellies for less than $25! (2 fry bread tacos, two corn tacos, two orders of fries, an Isleta burger, 3 cans of soda and 3 fry breads with honey)

    Great food here! Must try!!!

Great servers! Everyone was helpful and kind so front of house manager must be doing their job!…read moreFood was delicious. Crispy Brussels sprouts had great flavor but way too much cayenne pepper (which adds nothing but heat) my husband ate them but said he would prefer less heat. I had 2 bites and gave up. Baked brie was amazing I loved the granny Smith apples! My husband loved them too. We also got the hummus duo which has dates on it and I used a date in the brie that was fantastic! I'll ask for that next time! It was the bomb. Hummus duo was good the watermelon radish was beautiful on the plate but gave both hummus a bitter flavor. Shrimp and grits. We live in Alabama currently and this was our least favorite dish of the day. Shrimp were cooked well and so were the grits but there was just something else it needed. Parmesan cheese and some onions maybe. Greek salad delicious. The flash fried chick peas made it. We needed more dressing and the wait staff was prompt and sweet about it. Spicy Lime Ceasar was ok till he requested more dressing then it was amazing. I was afraid of ordering it but the dressing wasn't too spicy . White sangria I had was disappointing it was more of a 1995 wine spritzer than a wine infused with citrus which is the very essence of sangria. It was ok and had I ordered a wine spritzer I would say yummo but I ordered sangria. Pork Belly flat bread was the winner of the night the tomato jam made that dish. I would love more on it next time but we will definitely be ordering that dish again! Yes we had a lot of left over food! But I love sampling a menu and this menu has a lot to offer. We will be back to try 4 or five other things. I look forward to my return.

(Except for the noise from an occasional loud vehicle that drove by!) We ordered two appetizers: Korean Chicken Bites and Parmesan Zucchini Ribbons. The chicken bites weren't our favorite. Just okay. But the zucchini ribbons with the lemon basil aioli were so good! I would go back just to order that starter again. One disappointment is that I really wanted to order the Shishito Peppers. No longer on the menu. My meal was the Pastrami Reuben with fries. I switched out the Swiss cheese for cheddar. I liked the meal, and it was enough to bring half of the sandwich home for lunch the next day. The other two ordered the Crispy Pork Belly & Tomato Jam flat bread. One liked it, the other was just okay with it. Two of us ordered sangria. It was white, which came as a surprise to us. It was less sweet than we prefer. Another in our group ordered a mocktail and quite liked it. Got a second one and I don't believe they charged for the refill. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of it. It might sound like I have too many issues to give a 4-star rating, but I stand by it. The amience was nice. The wait staff was pleasant. The menu was creative. I'll definitely go back.

I decided to try something that was a weekend special. Carne adovada Cheesy grits with 2 eggs, fried onions, avocado & cilantro. This was pretty good. Grits with not as thick as I would have liked them to be. My eggs were over easy and I asked for over medium, and no cilantro. I also had the iced mocha latte coffee that I had to ask for after my food came. Service was not great. The waitress told me right away that she was running behind, not something you want to know, then came back when I was done to ask me how my food was. I prefer to be asked with in 2-3 min after my food arrives. I was a waitress and this seems to not be a rule much anymore. When I asked for a to go container she gave me something that the grits would have spilled right through as I stated they were pretty thin. As this place is one of my favorites in town, I'll be back but, I hope the service is better.

The prices seemed reasonable and on par with other places, if not a bit less and the selection was pretty impressive- it was hard to decide what to order! The interior decor is also really nice with the High Desert vibes you would expect from the name. We each had one of the specialty burgers (Valley burger and I forget the name of the other one). They were both very tasty and the portions were generous. They have amazing fries- both the regular and sweet potato. Service was great (it was so busy we had to sit at the bar since we were in a little bit of a hurry). We plan to add this place to our rotation as there is a ton of selection that looks amazing and they have a pretty decent looking happy hour food & drink specials too. I couldn't get a good look at all the taps but that selection also seemed to be pretty impressive compared to what you see elsewhere. A good first impression and am looking forward to checking out more of the menu!

I went for the classic burger. They call their fries Spudnik and they have a very interesting cut. The potato shape is like a broad, curling wedge, but these are not curly fries. I asked for the smashed burger and it came out with a nice crispy touch. I enjoyed the blue cheese dressing. The brioche bun is very tasty. I would rate this Burger as tops.
