Since our first visit here in May 2013, we've been back at least two dozen times, mostly for breakfast. We still give it three stars though over the last 16 months the food and service has ranged from one star to four stars, depending on the quality of the food and the service. Lately, both have been fine. We suspect there's recently been a change in the kitchen: someone has figured our what "over easy" means and the potatoes are crispy. Further, if you get the right waitress who pays attention to your order, everything flows smoothly. in other words, it can be a bit of an up and down experience here, somewhat typical of diners. A perfect beginning of my 77th birthday! Breakfast is my favorite meal, so I was thrilled to begin my day at Lindy's. I had a half order of stuffed French Toast that was amazing! More than I could eat. We were immediately impressed when entering the diner as the windows and interior were very clean. The price was reasonable for the quality of food. Where to begin, my parents grew up in keene and I am there many times a year visiting family, its a great town. But Lindys is such an amazing place cheap as hell and the food is always great. Now I would strongly suggest you get breakfast here cause thats when the place is running at its finest, I almost always get the eggs Benedict which is amazing!!! But ive had pancakes and other things which are all great. The staff is very nice and warm. The diner its self is so cool it looks like its stuck in the 50's or 60's. This place is pretty cool inside very vintage 50/60's sort of thing. The waitress was cold and I felt that she was really put out by us being there. The food is priced very fair, I order a burger and fries for 5.95. The burger tasted nasty. Overall, I like Lindy's a lot...I've had mixed experiences... After my first visit I thought it was the best breakfast in town, but there are certain things to stay clear of. DO order the pancakes, and the eggs are fantastic DON'T order the donuts, the fruit salad or the cinnamon rolls... none of which have been fresh in my experience. Where do I start, The place is dirty, I saw them drop the towel the they use to clean and dry their hands on the dirty floor only to reuse it. I would love to see what their state rating is as it was not displayed in plain view. The waitresses that handle dirty money also help in your food prep without the use of plastic food gloves or washing their hands. the ppl were very unfriendly especially the old lady that looks like she is 100 years old! The bathroom was gross and stunk. There was 2 pieces of toilet paper on the floor with human feces on it from wiping :(. The food was OK I mean you really can't screw up eggs, pancakes were not that great.I was literally too grossed out to eat my food... I was really disappointed because I love old diners and was really looking forward to some good diner style food. But, I just could not get past all the negatives. We are vacationing in Monadnock region this week. Hubby grew up in the area and Lindy's had been a favorite spot when we were dating or visiting family over many years. Since we hadn't been in quite some time decided to go for early supper. It looked exactly as we remembered! They close at 8P on Sundays and got there just before 6 practically had the place to ourselves at first....then just before 630 it seemed all the Sunday night regular customers came in Hubby had the meatloaf and I had tuna salad. Both were fresh and generous portions. We were all set to order dessert but our mostly friendly server stopped that plan in its tracks by dropping off the check and jetting off before we could say....anything! I went here with my boyfriend for dinner. There was no one else in the restaurant. The waitress came to take our order, then went to go chat it up with the cook or get on the phone or something. She was having a ball doing whatever, bs-ing around and laughing hysterically, I certainly remember that. So a HALF HOUR went by... that is not an exaggeration. "Where's our order?" we asked her... ...SHE HAD NOT EVEN PUT OUR ORDER IN. Frantically apologizing, she then finally puts the order in and they cook our food speedily. I don't remember what the food was like. It was probably average. Of course, we didn't tip her a penny, and the restaurant as a whole most definitely only deserves one star from me for this atrocious experience. read more

Was in town for the weekend, looking for a classic egg breakfast, and was drawn in by the promise of an all-day breakfast. I am definitely a fan of greasy spoon diners, but there is a difference between a casual lunch counter and a place that is run down and where everyone working there seems miserable. It would be one thing if the food or coffee was particularly good, but neither of those applied here. Service was very slow as well, though the food did come quickly once I managed to flag down a waitress. Typical diner atmosphere. Typical hometown feel. Typical amazing comfort food. My family and I have gone to Lindy's whenever we are in the mood for a naughty treat. The staff is always friendly no matter when you go and your sure to see a bunch a regulars in the clientele. Couple of food suggestions: My wife usually gets the huveos rancheros which is a spicy egg delight, while I usually get a sandwich. Patty melts are pretty tasty. Try the home fries and large cinnamon rolls for a treat. My favorite time to go is when the patio is open and you can sit outside and enjoy their beautiful flowers. That's the real treat of Lindy's. One more thing-- they only take cash. So be prepared before hand. They have an ATM but I've run into a few times where it's out of order. They are usually pretty busy after all. We were excited to try out this diner. Unfortunately, we did not even stay to try the food. When we walked in no one talked to us and we sat at the counter. Worst diner I've ever been too. Food was terrible and it was very dirty looking even outside. And the waitresses weren't friendly actually quite rude. Lindy's is a classic diner with the food you'd expect: pancakes, french toast, eggs, omelets, bacon, etc. Their food is good diner food and the diner is very cute and old-fashioned. I would give them more stars, but I wish their hours were longer. Diner's are supposed to be open late! We had breakfast at Lindy's yesterday and enjoyed great food with excellent service. We returned today to a busy Saturday crowd and put our name on the waitlist. After waiting the 25 minutes we were initially told would be our wait time, we switched our order to takeout as I had a wedding to attend. Thirty five minutes later we still didn't have our food. The hostess was most apologetic but we said we fully understood and she offered to refund our order. She apologized once again and we told her she could give us a credit for tomorrow's breakfast rather than a refund which ever was easier. The owner busted from the back shouting, "Get off my property!" The hostess processed the refund but as we were leaving, the classless owner came out the back door and yelled, "There's a Dunkin Donuts down the street! Don't ever come back, OLD MAN!" We feel sorry his staff has to work under such an embarrassment of a boss/owner. If this owner runs his business on this kind of treatment of his customers, he will be shutting down quicker than COVID could close the doors!!! read more

You won't be disappointed if you try this classic diner with flavorful, home-style cooking, good service and amazing prices. It's a real bargain and fun, too. We stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I ordered the daily special of Greek pastitsio casserole, which was fresh, yummy and quite traditionally prepared. It's a layered macaroni and ground lamb dish with a wonderful topping of a bechamel sauce. It came with a small Greek salad with homemade dressing, and that was good, too. For $8.95, it was a great meal in every regard. My sweetie had the homemade cod cakes, which he enjoyed. They came with real mashed potatoes, which were very good, and also with a side of the best baked beans we've had in New England. These were great northern beans in a rich sauce that was full of flavor. For $5.65 for the complete meal, you can't find a better deal in America nowadays. For dessert we split a piece of homemade coconut cream pie. It was wicked good. Although the crust was soggy, the filling was outstanding. None of the food was greasy, like one might expect at a diner. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant. Perhaps the most reasonably priced paleo-friendly breakfast I've ever had. 4 eggs, 2 pieces of sausage, and 2 pieces of ham for less than $10 including tip. Made my Sunday morning. I was a little irritated that they didn't take credit cards. I also never saw a sign indicating that they do not take cards. Further, the on-site ATM was out of order. It's 2013 for goodness sakes; just get a card machine. Nonetheless that is my only complaint. The service was prompt and friendly. 5 stars if not for the payment situation.
