Was running out of options for rest areas driving late into the night from CT to NH when we found this diner on Google Maps. Felt like Michael J. Fox in "Back to the Future"! Wonderful decor and love the jukebox! The staff was very pleasant and friendly. The bathrooms were very clean. Would definitely order food next time and enjoy the restaurant vibe!

Finally got back here after a ski trip. Tried to come the week before but closed to not having power from the blizzard. Needless to say I had a very filling breakfast for dinner. Three eggs, six meats (three of each) and two pancakes. Sausage was my favorite food on the plate. Bacon was not crispy like I had asked, eggs had little to no cheese and pancakes I felt were just slightly overcooked. Ordered a milkshake but they were out of ice cream from a busy night before. Probably for the best as I did not need one. Ruby did a great job behind the counter. Noticed the lack of cheese on my eggs and asked if she could get me more. Being that it's already a huge breakfast I declined and thanked her. But was very friendly and we talked about the busy day she had yesterday. With Fifty's Dinner not being open 24/7 anymore this is the spot to come for your late night hunger cravings.

Stopped in on a beautiful, top-down day enroute to Vermont for leaf peeping. Iconic looking on the outside, open 24 hours (always a plus), right off I-91, and used by a lot of truckers. Sign on the door mentions the staffing shortage and the resultant longer wait times. Sat on a stool at the counter and was waited on by Emily. First and foremost, she is an absolute gem. Like an octopus. No wasted motion. Constantly doing everything. With a smile. From there, it was all downhill. Ordered the House Special omelet. Comes with homemade corned beef hash, home fries, and toast. The omelet itself was "unusual " in that I have never had or seen an omelet that had a runny yolk when you cut into it. It appeared as a normal omelet on the outside, but the inside egg part was almost as if they layered a sunnyside up egg inside before the CBH. The person next to me experienced the same thing, as did someone further down. The CBH was full of fat, and was over spiced. Besides being salty, there was another spice that was almost overbearing. Couldn't place it. And the HFs? They were deep fried tater tots. Coffee was good, and Emily constantly kept my cup filled. The dinner menu includes numerous classics like meatloaf, liver w onions, hamburger steak, etc. I will never try them because I will never patronize this diner again. The wait was long, but that's ok if the food is good. For me, it was not.

    Biscuits and gravy, Massachusetts style.

Looks like it was built in the 50's. Bacon, eggs and sausage, they did it right. Friendly staff. Grits need some work, but I know they tried. I will definitely eat here again.

    Classic!

The best thing about this place is the look--a classic diner. The food is mediocre at best and the service was non-existent, except for the gentleman bringing the coffee - he was great. Our "server" was rude, barely spoke and never checked in to see if we needed anything else. She was too busy chatting up the regulars. Of course, she dropped off the check quickly. The coffee was plentiful, but weak and watery, which is odd for a truck stop. We both got ham and cheese omeletes, which were cheesy and flavorful, but seemed to be salted above and beyond the ham and cheese saltiness. The home fries were from frozen (see picture attached) and had zero flavor, no added onions or peppers and were cold to boot. Not memorable at all.

Breakfast was fine...I got the build your own breakfast sandwich which was good and it came with homefries...Nice price of $7.99...And they got jukeboxes on the tables to boot...Waitress was friendly...Would come again.

I have been in a lot of restaurants but this one I kind of felt like I do not belong there No hello, good morning we will be a there in a moment. The plate was very hot food was cold . I'm sitting on the counter with no coffee so the waitress go to a table with a cup of water and coffee pot comes back and gave me what's left over from the coffee pot. There was an employee child about 8/10 years old sitting two bar stool from me and the next thing I know she was moved on the other half side of the counter. The cook I guess was with the waitress when she asked me right after she gave me the menu what would I like to order. I felt like the cook told her to take my order. My comment was I have to look at the menu. The plate was hot my food cold so don't give me any lips. I then had the food to go but I will not be eating it because she took my food to the back to put it in a to go box. Believe me I was being nice paying for the food.

After reviewing their large menu, you order at the counter. Everything is made fresh to order. There is also a wonderful selection of fresh pastry tempting you at the counter. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We ordered the primal bowl, maple bacon burrito and a raspberry lemon blondie. Everything was so fresh and delicious! You are expected to bus your own table, which we did not mind. Overall, prices were fair, maybe a little higher than one would expect for a burrito but their slightly higher prices allow them to pay staff a living wage rather than waitress wage. Because of this, they are a 'tip free' establishment. However, if you choose to do so, it goes to a community meal fund for locals which I think really sets them apart! Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area!

We got the Gorgonzola Bread as our appitizer. This is a must order. Bread was baked with fresh garlic butter, Gorgonzola and Parmesan cheese, finished with a sweet honey drizzle. It was too good and probably my favorite thing here. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was HUGE. And it was so good. The secret sauce was kind of honey mustard-y, which I personally loved. The fries were excellent too. The Baja Fish Tacos were my wife's choice and she said they were good. The Grilled Salmon came with mashed potatoes, vegetables of the day, and a side salad. It was very fresh and well prepared. No complaints here. They have a kids menu and my son got the Mac and cheese. He really liked it. Now that his palate is slightly more sophisticated, this actually worked well because it was house made and seasoned nicely with garlic. Even two months ago, he probably would not have liked it since he preferred more Kraft style, simple preparation, so your results may vary depending on your kid. The Shirley Temple was good, exactly how it should taste, and they gave plenty of cherries. The Chocolate Mousse was decadent and delightful. Great for sharing or keeping to yourself if you are into sweets. Pricing felt fair for the quality and portions. It wasn't the cheapest meal but considering the food quality, generous portions, and overall experience, I thought it matched what we paid. The service was extremely kind, probably some of the best we have had in a while. The biggest downside was the amount of flies. Not sure why there were so many but it was noticeable. The bathroom also had a changing station for babies, which was a nice touch. Overall, this was a really good experience. Kind service, great food, and a memorable meal. The building is older and has clearly been around for a while, but that adds to the charm. I would definitely come back just for the Gorgonzola Bread.

They did. So I came back a THIRD time and ordered it AGAIN, just to see if they can still keep their vegan cheese melted just right on top. It was incredible, AGAIN. Now that I've gotten this out of the way, ask where it is on their new menu as it is under revision--I don't like the tempeh version as much. Onto the rest of the atmosphere of Cushman. One of the most pleasant features of Cushman Market and Cafe is that it is nestled at an important corner in northeast Amherst. You need to travel further west to get to The Mill District and not much opens there early, and there's little else I can recall in the other cardinal directions. It's a pleasant trip, with plenty of parking in front, behind, and in a strip of side road across the street. I've never been in the market, so let me keep talking about the Cafe. The atmosphere of the Cafe is wonderful, with locals, safety officers, and regulars all visiting at each meal hour from breakfast to lunch. Nestled inside what looks like an old barn, complete with doors still hanging, Cushman has memorabilia from decades of music, sports, politics, and news frozen under acrylic, different for many of their tables. The café seems to have at most 20 chairs, and the staff behind the counter will deliver it to your table, call your name, or leave other orders by a stand near the back entrance. Cushman Cafe offers a variety of meals, alongside baked goods and freshly mixed café drinks. While I'm not a fan of the switcherels, I have enjoyed their dirty Chai lattes, iced teas, fresh coffees, and free water if I recall in a pinch. They have gender neutral bathrooms--which is great if you're tired of waiting in line for one of two as they are large but single occupancy. They offer cold panini sandwiches, hot panini, all sorts of eggs, egg sandwiches, and egg breakfasts, vegan and vegetarian options, alongside a seemingly visible carnivorous focus for their new menu's default. If you had a chance to hop on a bus and travel around Amherst, or you were passing through to the highways, Cushman Cafe is worth a quick stop. I've rarely had to wait long for my meals even in busy hours, and this is because of the large and competent kitchen, who--if you'll remember--can get a delicious sandwich right any day of the week. I hope cell service returns there!
