This time I ordered a Caramelito draft latte and it was so smooth and balanced. Not overly sweet as the name of the drink might imply. It is a nice place to visit with a friend, read a book or work remotely. It's a nice relaxed vibe and a nice intimate spot to hang. Parking is still a pain but it hasn't been that bad lately so I take it as a win!

Unfortunately, our experience today was a little disappointing because of the customer service. We tried the iced flat white and an iced latte today. Both were good, but the flat white was definitely the standout. We also ordered two sandwiches, and when they came out, we noticed that one was missing the greens that were listed on the menu. When we asked about it, the guy at the counter told us they weren't currently serving greens because of the recent lettuce contamination concerns. We completely understand that, but it would have been nice to know when ordering, especially since it was listed as part of the sandwich. When we mentioned that, his response was dismissive and he walked away. We actually had to say, "Hey, you're being kind of rude." His response was, "Yeah, I know. Wanna talk to my manager? He's over there." The manager looked up but didn't come over or address the situation. We even left a good tip because you never know what someone may be dealing with or whether they're just having a bad day. But unfortunately, when someone is the face of the business and interacting directly with customers, friendliness and basic customer service really matter. We'll definitely go back because we genuinely enjoy the food and coffee, but this interaction was unfortunate and knocked the experience down a star for us. Hopefully it was just an off day, because we really do like Framework and would love to continue supporting a neighborhood spot we enjoy.

Roughly one block away from Lake Eola, this small coffee establishment is in a great place. Nice little courtyard under the Radius, an apartment complex, right in the heart of downtown. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a familiar smell. Not the typical American coffee joint, the unique smell I associate with the Middle East. I was there for business a couple of years ago and grew pretty fond of a good traditional Turkish coffee. I didn't even bother looking at the menu, I asked the man at the counter who turned out to be the owner, "what do you recommend?" He asked one simple question, "hot or cold?" And my response shaped the rest of my morning. "Hot. As hot as you can get it." He offered me a Turkish coffee saying, "I'll make it traditional. Will that be too strong for you?" Absolutely not. I needed to have it just the way they make it in the sandy deserts of the Middle East. He pulled the pot and began preparing it. I recognized the familiar box of sand, used to heat the coffee. After a few seconds he brought it to my table, the time had come. He used a different bean than I was accustomed to. It was floral. Like a blend of coffee and tea. It was amazing. I definitely recommend this spot. Get a coffee. Enjoy the ambiance. Sip it with friends.

I understand the idea behind encouraging people to unplug, be present, and socialize, but it does kind of suck if you specifically came to a coffee shop hoping to get some work or studying done. So definitely keep that in mind when deciding which day to visit. Despite those little inconveniences, I still really enjoy Haan Coffee. The beautiful décor, relaxing atmosphere, creative drinks, and food keep bringing me back.
