For those who dont like TVs playing news in waiting areas, this place doesnt do that. I have a long history of dental care and I've spent many hours in a dentist chair since childhood, but I'm no longer apprehensive about coming for my visits since I've been coming here. I definitely recommend this practice if you are looking for a family run dentistry that knows what they're doing, and that cultivates a nice atmosphere.

The girl behind the desk was trying to force x-rays on me that I had already had. She said if I don't have the x-rays then I can't be a patient. I said I guess I'll have to cancel my appointment since I've already had X-rays and for health reasons do not wish to have them again. Her response? Okay! They don't care if I'm a patient! Not only that their tone was so rude when they called me first thing in the morning while I was still having breakfast to confirm my insurance and they treated me as if I was some kind of a criminal! I told them if there were any problems I just pay out of pocket. It wasn't a problem I'm just coming for a cleaning. But no! That witch in the office was going to tell me differently and they kept calling my phone harassing me! And you know from their perspective it's all the customers fault. These girls need to grow up and get a life. They are ruining the practice of the doctor. And if you think that you have to have treatment forced upon you and you have a doctor telling you that? They have no legal rights. The bottom line is this doctor will only accept patients that will use up services they don't need at a certain price. Very sad! I don't care who it is! Since nothing was actually done incorrectly, and my real issues are with scheduling and communication, I'm bumping this up to 3 stars. I still feel like Dr. Patton was rushed. A few minutes explaining that the filling was unusually deep and I might experience pain for a few weeks or even months would have gone a long way. Went in for a filling. Waited in the chair for 30 minutes after they numbed me before they got started. I overhead that Dr. Patton had 3 people booked at once and that's why she was late. Wish they had given me the option to reschedule, but oh well. Despite being numb the filling became painful as they kept working. I wanted to ask about it, but Dr. Patton left before I was even upright. The hygienist suggested I use ibuprofen and call them if it remained painful. Since then I have been in pain and using ibuprofen to manage it. I waited a week to see if it would subside, then tried to make an appointment. After playing phone tag (I never was able to call and get a human being on the phone), I finally got a call back. Because I couldn't take their first available appointment in 3 days time due to a work meeting, I was told I would have to take one on April 14th. That's two weeks out. When I asked why I couldn't get a sooner emergency appointment I received a sarcastic 'well coudn't you move your meeting?'. No, I have to work too. Deeply displeased with this place. I don't understand all the positive reviews. I'm going to be getting this fixed elsewhere.

I'm not gonna lie, my visit did not start off on the best foot. I had an appointment for 8:20 AM…read moreand wasn't taken back until 8:45. I was not informed what the delay was. The hygienist Rae (?), was AMAZING. She was super friendly. She took a full set of x-rays since I was a new patient and then gave me a pair of sunglasses to put on before she started my cleaning. They had numerous flavor options for the polishing paste. I was offered cherry, vanilla, mint and cookie dough. She checked on my comfort numerous times while she was working and was very thorough. There is a large flat-screen TV hanging high in front of the chair so you can watch TV while they work on your teeth. Once she completed the cleaning, Dr. Thackenkary came in to do the final examination. He did a complete oral cancer screen and checked the condition of my jaw, teeth and bite. He also explained about the pH of my saliva and how it helped to prevent cavities, which was interesting. He did not try to "sell" me anything else, like tooth whitening. Every other dentist I've been to has always tried to get me to pay for something else. Dr. Thackenkary advised me to come back in 6 months for my next routine visit and gave me a goodie bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and mouthwash. Neither Dr. Thackenkary or Rae were condescending or rude. I've been to some dentists who get a bit nasty when they are telling you about your teeth and if there is any plaque or anything. Not these two! Rae just explained how to better floss my bottom molars to help prevent buildup in the future. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my visit. Friendly staff and straightforward dental care. I highly recommend others visit Opal Ridge Dental for their dental needs. You'll be pleased.

This the absolutely the last place I would recommend!!  They took advantage of my 80 year old…read moremother who was visiting from another state.  She had ONE tooth break and needed an emergency fix.  Somehow they tricked her into getting three additional teeth filled.  The dentist waited till she was alone and in the middle of a getting a crown knowing full well she did not understand what was going on!!  At one point during the visit, she even asked what they were doing but got no response since he was too busy watching the Ellen show on tv and goofing off with his staff.  I know plenty of people who have had emergency dental procedures but I have never heard of anyone coming out with 3 additional fillings.  THIS SHOULD BE FRAUDULENT SINCE THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OUR MOST VULNERABLE POPULATION.   Sent from my iPhone
