It was great! People complaining about the crab ragoon being small, They make it all homemade! So many people are used to stuff at walmart! They were nice and asked how we are doing! Came here for lunch today and definitely will not be back. Waitress seemed annoyed at our presence. Tables were sticky after being 'cleaned'. A roach was noted in the dinning room. No working AC in August. The buffet was disgusting. So. Many. Flies. The 'cold' food like sushi and the salad bar was Luke warm and definitely not kept at a safe temperature. This place has gone downhill. We ate there today, for the first time in months, and it was not good. The spring rolls looked burnt, as did the egg muffins. The fried zucchini was also "blackened." I went to Ling's today for only the second time and was very disappointed. To start off, the waitress was very surly and acted like she was mad at us as soon as we walked in the door. She continued the unfriendly act the entire time we were in there. Secondly, when we got our first plate of food, literally everything was cold. Not one thing was more than luke warm. After only tasting a few things, we went back and got another plate with different items. Those too were cold. A couple of items were so tough and chewy we couldn't eat them. To top it off, there were no crab rangoons or egg rolls. At no time was any new food brought out while we were there. Delicious Assortment of Food. The food was tasty, but I wasn't too impressed with the dessert. They even had the Mongolian style selection where they cook the frozen food for you. It was a sad day in Topeka when Sun's Chinese closed. However, Ling's is filling the vacuum nicely and has shot to my #1 favorite Chinese restaurant in Topeka. The food is fantastic, it's plated beautifully and served by a great wait staff who really cares. The dining room is teeny and almost always full but it's decorated tastefully and lends to a pleasant dining experience. And the prices are great - lunch specials under $5 and dinner under $7. This is definitely a hidden jewel in North Topeka. UPDATE: After being closed for months on end (and scaring us that they were not going to reopen) Lings has come out of the cocoon, bigger and better. We visited the Monday after they opened and were very pleased with the changes. There is now a buffet selection with at least 40 items to choose from, along with a Mongolian Grill to give HuHot a run for their money, AND a Sushi selection. They also have a giant dessert "boat" and ice cream in cute little pre-packaged containers in a freezer near the restrooms. There was genuinely a great selection. I've never seen Egg Foo Young on a buffet. They had it along with many other tasty dishes. And, the price was just $6.29 for lunch and $8.59 for dinner - plus, they have their old menu to choose from as well. I still love them and hope Ling, the owner, can maintain the quality she's served up so far. Can't wait to go back! read more

The Mongolian grill is AHmazing! It is manned by request, so fill your plate and then go to the counter and ring the bell. It was my favorite part of the meal. The salmon was absolutely delicious.the crawfish weren't my favorite, but everything else I tried was so good, including the muscles. Give this place a shot. You won't regret it! read more

Tried it about a year ago and said never again! Went back on that and decided to give it one more try. Horrible would be a kind word! Food was cold, what was warm tasted terrible, the woman (owner/manager) was semi rude, even while sweeping couldn't get off the phone. The waiter was great, he checked in often. The lady at the register didn't look at us once while we were paying and was talking into her AirPods the whole time. She also was "switching out" old food which was really just getting a new pan and dumping the old food into it and putting it back on the buffet. We had the most awesome experience here tonight! I usually approach buffets with great trepidation, but Ling's really delivered. Especially noteworthy was the lady at the mongolean grill who took great care to see that every component was cooked perfectly. I also loved the steamed clams which had none of the expected "buffet sogginess". The frog legs were delectable, with a still-crunchy panko crust, and perfectly cooked inside. this was my first visit to Ling's. I arrived there at about 2PM on a Saturday, so certainly after the lunch crowd. The interior was very nice, and clean and well taken care off. The buffett was really big with a seafood table, dessert table, appetizer table etc. Some tables were covered with plastic wrap though. The food was really good and appetizing but nothing really struck out as extraordinary, I would say a typical buffet. Service was fast and friendly and with a smile. However, and that is the main reason for only 3 stars, the food was not warm enough. I have tried several dishes and it was the same. so not sure if the buffet table was not working properly or what. I will certainly try the place on another day and time and see if i can review it higher. This first visit though, is roughly about average, hence the 3 stars. read more

Not just a Chinese Restaurant and all you can eat buffet, Ling's Cafe offers food for every taste. The buffet includes appetizers, two soups, a large variety of fried rice and noodles, a larger variety of entrees, salad bar and dessert bar. The menu selections include a diet menu as well as dinner combination platters, sushi bar and chef specialties. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. The night we visited, there was a steaming pot of crawfish as one of the selections, several varieties of egg rolls and spring rolls, and twice baked potatoes. I'm not a big buffet fan. I usually find buffet food to be just above warm, but the temperature of the food on the buffet tables is good. Prices range from $6 for lunch on the buffet to $10 for some of the Chef's Specials from the menu. Price for dinner buffet is $8.99. The restaurant was very clean. Lots of booths or tables. Areas are separated for privacy, so that you don't feel like you are in a big room. There is a separate large room for meetings. Wait staff was prompt for beverages, refills, and clearing the tables. Everything here is just kind of blah with no taste. It's not awful, it's just kind of like why bother? I have never seen sushi with ham in it before. Yuck! Even the sushi has no distinct taste. The people working there are not at all friendly and act as if they're doing you a great service to fill your water glass. On this last visit, the server actually grunted when asked for more water. We went to try out Ling's soon after they opened, and were pleasantly surprised; the prices are in line with other local restaurants (reasonable), but there were lots and lots of good fresh vegetables, and the sauces are all top-notch (for example, egg foo young got a good brown sauce, not prefab gravy like other restaurants in town use). Service is fast, storefront is small but hospitable and nicely decorated. For the buffet part, two tables for Chinese stuff, two in the middle with odds and ends, and two tables on the south end for Mongolian BBQ. So my fiancé and I went to this restaurant for lunch. And was not a good experience we waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated which wouldn't have been a big deal if the food was halfway decent. Lings is another treasure North Topeka has!! There food is always hot and fresh. The owner and staff are very pleasant friendly people! Lings is the #1 place for Chinese food in town. They were open on Christmas and Thanksgiving and it was awesome!! I have always enjoyed having a meal at the restaurant and I stopped by on October 28, 2022 around 3 p.m. There was wasn't very many people there, but it was early for a Friday night. I was surprised to see how downhill the place has become, food wise. The two soups were only about 1/2 full and there was a dried soup scum around the inside of the containers. The garlic sautéed green beans were dark and some even looked burnt, much of the food was dry, hard and unappetizing. The sushi bar & Mongolian grill were closed down. And the price has really jumped, cost for one person' meal and weak ice tea, the meal cost was just a few pennies less than $15.00. Normally I wouldn't be complaining about price of the meal given the economy, but for poor, unappetizing food, NO, I will not go there again. And the lady that has managed the place for quite some time, is a rude person; treats her wait staff and customers terrible! read more

This restaurant had limited food options compared before the virus outbreak. Food options were cut down by half. Not much selection or variety as before. Lighting was dark. My family of 4 was charged $53 dollars like before. I asked the lady why? She said that we ate and was charged for price. I said with very little food options that price should be lowered. After reading other reviews and had people tell me to try it, I can only assume they are trying to save money by not using any seasoning at all. No crab no cream cheese) fried wantons. I couldn't even eat an entire egg roll, have no idea how you can mess up cabbage? The "fried rice" was orange in color...used quotes because one crock pot had white rice and the other the orange rice. I'm used to fried rice that at least has a couple peas, some sign of being "fried", this was just orange tasteless stuff. Will not be going back. This is probably now the best Chinese buffet in town by default. A little pricey, but a wide selection of entrees as well as a hibachi grill and sushi. I was a fan of some items, but not others.
