I have been using Link Automotive for about 20 years. They are the most honest mechanics around.

I had not previously used this business. I made a 2:00pm appointment and when I arrived at 1:55pm I…read morewas taken immediately. The service took about a half hour to 45 minutes. Not only is the waiting room comfortable but they have complimentary coffee available. And the washroom is immaculate. The price for the oil change is the lowest I have been quoted for the area I live in (Palatine/Rolling Meadows). The employees who I interacted with were friendly and knowledgeable. While talking to one of them I inquired if they do body work and he said, "no, but what do you need?" I told him I had hit a pothole on 53 and the front bumper separated from the body of the car on the driver's side. I had been told the clip that holds the bumper to the car was broken and I will need a new bumper. The employee said he would look at it. He came back and told me I had been misinformed. The clip wasn't broken off it was just bent. He used a small tool with a hook on it and straightened the clip and pushed the bumper back in place! I thought I was going to have to purchase a new bumper. What a delightful surprise. Use this location for your car needs and support a local small business. You won't be disappointed.

I would give Eric ten stars if I could…read more My family and I found ourselves in a nightmare situation: our wheel bearing failed in Chicago traffic, halfway through a cross country road trip with two kids and a dog. A frantic Google led me to Eric. I called him and, unlike every other mechanic we reached out to, he took our emergency seriously, and assured us he'd look at our car right away when we got to him. True to his word, he had our car up on the lift within 15 minutes of our arrival, and brought us over to show us the (sadly very catastrophic and obvious) failure of our wheel bearing, and the other systems it had taken out with it. He gave us an itemized clear estimate, which identified a part he wasn't sure we'd need, and clearly laid out our best and worst case scenarios. His costs and timing were exactly as advertised. Thankfully we did not require the extra part, and he was honest about that. Eric was kind and friendly, got us the information we needed when we needed it (making extra phone calls to give us a clear timeline), and let all of us (including our dog!) hang out in his very nice clean waiting room. He had sodas, and a TV, so the kiddos were happy, and we were back on the road within 4 hours of our arrival which felt like a small miracle. Our car is running great. His costs were fair and reasonable. While he isn't immediately off the highway it was very easy to find him, and under 5 minutes' drive from 90. Highly, highly recommended! Bonus: he had some really cool cars he was working on, which we got to check out, and a display of vintage car parts that were fun to see.

Extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience here…read more We brought our truck to this shop while shopping for a new vehicle, and it was left in their care for less than a week. When we returned to pick it up and sell it to a company, we discovered that our catalytic converter had been sawed right off while parked on their lot. To make matters worse, when we brought it to their attention, we were told they don't even have security cameras monitoring their lot. Leaving a vehicle with a business comes with a basic expectation of security and accountability. Discovering stolen parts and costly damage right when we were trying to sell the truck was a total nightmare. I strongly advise taking your vehicle elsewhere if you expect it to be kept safe.
