UPDATE 4/26/2023 I am absolutely mind-blown by the ownership and accountability taken by Casey Automotive's owner, Mark. While, I would give my one-time experience with the mechanics a 0 star rating, I would give the follow-up by the ownership and absolute 6 star rating out of 5. That averages out to 3 stars. I would say that I have rarely seen this type of follow-up and care for their customers and their experiences from any other business. This was truly the example of good business practices. Mark compensated me for the outstanding bill associated with my issue and then some for my horrible day. I will assume my experience was an anomaly as I have never had this issue prior to this day. I thank Mark for reminding me that Casey is a family-owned business and a member of our community and I will do my part and continue to pledge my future business to their garage. On Saturday after getting a quote for repair told to call Tues at 4pm. On Tuesday was told bring car in Wednesday. Very early Weds brought car in for repair but told may not get car repaired til Thursday. Told first come first served no appointments given. Who wants/can let car sit in lot for days waiting to get repaired? Very poor customer service as I felt were just playing me along. read more

Car troubles are the worst, and it's always a gamble taking your beloved chariot to a new shop. My starter failed on me on a Sunday and I had a string of gigs coming up the following week and knew I had to act fast. I was able to get my car towed to Casey's the following Monday (we used D&R Towing at the recommendation of the shop, and that was a great experience in and of itself, I left them a good review too. Thanks, Rich!) and my car was assessed the next day despite being told Wednesday-late Thursday was the soonest. I was in a pinch working an hour from home and needing the car back before noon today, but the crew got it in and sorted and had it back to me just shy of two days later! The price was as-quoted, no surprise fees or "other" issues that arose between my phone calls and arriving to pick the car up. I was also advised of some preventive maintenance to be done on my next oil change, but was told I can wait until then for that. Big thank you to Mike for being so communicative and transparent with the repairs and timeline, and Fausto (I think that's his name?) for providing an update on the repairs and giving me some good news yesterday (and not being totally annoyed when I frantically called for an update, haha.) I visited the Casey Automotive Palatine location for an oil change. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick the service was and how nice everyone treated me. Taking my car for service as a woman can be intimidating as they usually try to sell me things I don't need or scare me into doing extra services. At Casey Automotive they suggested services that I would need eventually and explained what to look out for to know when it was time. It is with mixed emotions that I write this review. The incident occurred during a simple oil and filter change. I drive a Mercedes Benz, so whenever I get my oil changed I bring my own oil and filter to ensure only high-quality parts are used on this vehicle. I was deeply disappointed to find that the filter that the I had brought (assuming the full synthetic oil as well) was not used by the technician. I only found this out because after Casey automotive had changed my oil, I decided to do the oil and filter myself. Upon inspecting the filter they had inserted a generic made in Korea filter (see image) when I had given them a made in Germany (Mann Filter see image). As the technician was willing to not use my filter, I assume he didn't use my full synthetic Mobil 1 oil either. Likely decided to keep both for himself. I've also attached my invoice to this review. I will not be returning to this shop ever again, kind of sad because I believe in supporting local family owned businesses. read more

I have used Casey's for several of my cars and kids' cars. Their customer service from start to finish is excellent. The service advisors are knowledgeable and help diagnose issues when first taking in my cars. And somehow they always seem to remember me and my car. The same service advisor takes ownership of the service order, contacting me before the repair is made with a thorough explanation and picking up my car. The service repairs are done very well. I have never had a issue with how any of the repairs or maintenance that was done. Also, Casey's is fair. I've had them tell me that something I had to have done can wait, or was less complex and costly than I thought it would be. "Trustworthy" is the most important word I can use to describe them. I've taken my older car here about a half-dozen times and always been satisfied. Usually, it has been for routine maintenance, yet I was prompted to write a review when my wife took it in for the "something sounds weird" routine that must drive mechanics nuts. They quickly diagnosed it, searched for related causes, and both quoted a reasonable price and solved the issue quickly and accurately. On top of it, they painstakingly explain what needs to be done and why - giving an accurate estimate when they'll finish. They've never tried to sell me or my wife additional stuff for the car - just done the job at hand and done it right. Very professional, nice clean waiting area, Comfortable seating. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that they don't take appointments - so for regular servicing (such as an oil change) - it is hit or miss if the wait is short. i took my vehicle in to replace the headlight bulbs. one had burned out so I bought the expensive Sylvania Silverstar's. I get there and they tell me they will not use part I provide even though the bulbs I got are a superior bulbs versus the cheap bulbs they would have provided. I raised hell when they told me they would not put the better bulbs that I provided in. They eventually agreed to put the bulbs I provided in But they up charged me for the job. in my opinion this is not good business practice. I will not be going back to any of there locations. I came into the palatine location and spoke with Dave regarding a Coolant flush and fill, he said come back in three days at 8 am, which I did and when I arrived I spoke with a mike who said, we cant take you, said we need 2 days in the shop... I have an 8 year old car that needed an oil pump. Dealership in Barrington quoted me $1500 and I had to wait 3 days for the part to come in. Left the dealership and took my car to Casey's, pump was original manufacturer part, needed a right front tie rod and alignment, got my car back in 24 hours paying less than the dealership. Quick update on my previous review and experience... Had the brakes repaired by another company with all of the exact same services and labor performed that was quoted by Casey Automotive in Palatine, but below are the major differences: - Other company performed my estimate within 30 mins of me bringing the car in and asked if I'd like to wait for the estimate or get a ride home... I chose to stay and wait since they informed me it would take 30-45 mins. - Other company's quote was $650, again for the same services and labor, and even informed me to visit their website and download a 15% off coupon to use towards the brake repair, bringing my final repair total down to $552 - Other company informed me they had all but 1 part in stock so I could either come back tomorrow for the repair or if they placed a part order right away it would arrive after lunch and then they'd be able to complete the repair. Since I needed the work performed sooner than later I told them to order the part and in return they gave me a ride back to my house and called when the final repair was completed 4 hours later. (my wife drove me back to the shop to pick up the car but they did offer to come pick me up) All in all, had you set the proper expectations upfront and cared as much about my repair as much as the other quick oil changes coming in before / after me I probably would have had Casey Automotive perform the repair and still be a customer. read more

Just good solid work at a very reasonable price. Pete and the crew know what they're talking about, they do it well, and they explain everything in as much detail as you need in order to understand exactly what is being done to your car. They're also not pushy salesmen whatsoever. If they feel work needs to be done on the car, they'll tell you, but if you simply don't want them to do a certain bit of repair work for whatever reason (cost, desire to do it yourself, etc), they're cool with it and understand that it's your decision ultimately. I took my car here for an oil change and to get some other issues checked out. They don't take appointments so you just have to go there or call ahead and hope they are not busy. I went in the morning and the place was pretty packed. Check in was quick. I waited there while the work was done. The waiting room is one of the most important parts of a car place because it is where you spend your time. This one was ok. They have reading materials and a tv as well as comfortable chairs. Some more space would help especially when it gets crowded. The job was done in about an hour and a half, not bad, but not quick either. They offer a free tire rotation along with any service which is nice. Overall the price was reasonable. I would say if you live in the area, it's worth trying out. read more

I took my car here for an oil change and came to find out I had a mouse living in my car! They cleaned and replaced my filters for me and put bay leaves in the fresh air intake to help the issue. They were very friendly and didn't try to up sell me on anything - which is a nice thing for a girl to know. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because they don't take appointments (which I can understand), but if you want something done without a long wait time, you better arrive before they open to make sure you get an early spot in line. Wait times can be a pain sometimes there. But on the other hand, the wait times are a testament to how good of a place this is! read more

These guys are great - they do high quality work at a fair price and you can trust them. Due to my recent experience they now have a customer for life. I recently purchased a used Sprinter van that I knew was well maintained but was due for an oil change. I originally took it to Mercedes-Benz of Hoffman Estates and asked them to do the oil change but also to give it a once-over. That dealership came back telling me there were multiple leaks and they recommended $3,500 in repairs. I knew it was off since they recommended replacing the glow plugs, which were just done recently. I also knew there was never a drop under the truck from any leak. Plus the prior owner meticulously maintained the van - so I picked it up and took it to Casey Automotive for a second opinion, and I gave them the same instructions. Mike at Casey called me and said it needed a new belt, but that was all, then he said someone obviously put a lot of money into this van over the years because it was so well maintained he couldn't find anything else wrong with it. Wow, what a difference. The Casey quote? Just $350. I'm now a customer for life. read more

I've had work done before at the palatine shop and it was not cheap but it needed to be done ie: brakes and tires and needed a new key.The last few times I've taken my car in they informed me the car needed front end work done but could wait but it should be done,fair enough. I declined to have the work done,fast forward two years and the car now has an oil leak,I take it in spend over seven hundred dollars to have it fixed.they let me know it still needs to have the front end worked on and should be done soon,nothing to do with the oil leak.they let me know I should change the hoses for before it becomes an issue. Three months later I'm broken down on Rand road with oil leaking out of the car,I have it towed in to and the next day I'm told its going to be $7,000.00 for a new motor and it was because I did not fix the tire rod .The tire rod is still in tack and the repair for the leaking oil fails while in was driving the car.so just to be clear an engine will not sieze up due to a faulty tie rod. So yes it's going to be a he said he said issues , the fact it when the car was lefted into the two truck oil was pouring out of it.The thing I can do is write this review and buy a new car.I'm sure by now the old repair has been fixed so too add to the claim of poor maintenance. read more

Took my car here because my car alarm kept going off & I didn't know why. Nick, a mechanic, and the team spent about two hours trying to figure out why, running tests and what not. Finally, Pete the manager asked if I had a spare electronic key. I did & then remembered that it had gotten wet, which was the root of the problem. Everyone was very nice, helpful and professional at all times. They ended up not charging me anything, after spending all that time. We have gotten our oil changed here many times and they have always been great. I recommend working with Pete because our experiences with him have always been positive ones. read more

I'd highly recommend Casey Automotive. They are quick, friendly and honest. You have to arrive a bit early to get in for an oil change/tire rotation, but it's well worth it for the price! This repair shop is consistently on the straight & narrow path to great customer service and excellent mechanical labor. My car was in for 1-1/2 days, but fortunately this was at end of the workweek, and possible to leave it with them thru Saturday mid afternoon. The oil leak issue had been entered to my car's record with them, thru a few oil changes, and they kept an eye on the severity of the leak, never pressured me to get this fixed, and kept tabs of this leak. Each time I phone them, there is a courteous professional person at the other end, ready to listen. Pete takes the time to explain how he plans to fix something in terms that the average person can comprehend. Even at the end of the day, Pete is still focussed on pleasing his customers, and delivering best customer service. Brought my car here because I thought I had an air leak in one of my tires. My low tire pressure indicator light kept coming on within 24 hours of each time I put air in the tire. Jesse got me right in and the problem wasn't a leak in the tire, it was a faulty tire pressure sensor. However, the next evening the warning light came on again. I called Jesse the next morning, he had me bring it in and all it need was to be programmed. No additional charge and no problems since. Will definitely use these guys again! read more

BEWARE. This place is a scam. They said I need new control arms. New tires and shocks. And advised me that my alignment can't be done until I get the control arms fixed. They said specifically it doesn't need to need be done until 8 months from now. Not only did that throw me off, but my car is 3 months brand new. I took it in at 2 different automotive shops and they confirmed that Casey's is a scam. Stay far away. Also. My tires and control arms are PERFECTLY FINE. read more

I've had some good experiences here, however most recently I brought my car in for a oil change and alignment. The alignment was done however I realized they had not switched out the window sticker for the oil. So I checked the oil and it was just as dark as when I brought it in. I have gone to Casey Automotive since my first car I ever got, which was a 2005 Jetta. Pete and Kevin are the most amazing guys I have ever met when it came to my cars. They never assumed I didn't know much about cars (unlike Jiffy Lube) when I came in for service. Sometimes i would personally change my oil or rotate my own tires but every-time I come in i never have any bad things to say. They always know who I am and are very helpful in every way. Especially writing this review for my oil change, tire rotation, and tire air pressure service done only yesterday. I dropped off my car late Friday night and although they are busy on Saturdays, Kevin, assured me my car would be ready to pick up when they closed. To my surprise it was ready at 1:30pm when i decided to go check on it and pay for it while I was already out and about. I love this place and I refuse to go anywhere else. The full Synthetic oil tire rotation and air put into my car only costed me $40. I have a jeep patriot 2016. Cheapest and best service anywhere(jiffy lube tried to charge me $89 plus tax) Thank you Pete and Kevin for being freaking awesome!!!!! Ill be back for my brakes in a few weeks :D read more
