My friend told me that we were gonna catch the light rail to go to Lumen Field for the Seahawks football game, and he also mentioned to me that we could also stop by Pike Place Market to "holo-holo", as the light rail would take us all the way to where we needed to go. I guess the light rail system has been used in Seattle for sometime now, as I could see there were lots of rail stations throughout the city. The station that we used to get onto the rail was the - Angle Lake Station, because it was the closest station in proximity to where my friend lived. The Angle Lake Station had a very large parking garage. After parking our car, it was a breeze to get onto the light rail & make our way to Pike Place Market, as well as Lumen Field. I can see how effective it is when light rail is built, & utilized properly. It certainly saved us a lot of money in the sense that we didn't have to look for parking while attending the Seahawks game, as I saw some parking places charging like $90.00 for game day parking. More rail stations are still being constructed, and my friend said he couldn't wait till the rail station in Federal Way is finished.

This means that one can take one train without transfer from here to Bellevue and Redmond, crossing Lake Washington on the world's first light rail pontoon railway. My wife and I took this route while visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Bellevue, and the crossing was a routine non-event, just like it is supposed to be. My last review for this station was 2 years, at which time, only the 1 line serviced this station. Because of the way they designed the routes, the inclusion of the 2 line was seamless, requiring no station outages during the transition. My only small gripe is the signage at a major connection point at the center near the elevators, still only shows the 1 line (with its stops at the airport and university), instead of now the opening of the entire East side of Puget Sound area, accessible via the 2 line. It's confusing for visitors...better just to state that lower level is for Sound Transit, instead of explicitly naming each line, if they don't want to change the signage every time. Another big addition that occurred earlier this year (Feb '26), is the use of tap-to-pay (using a tap enabled payment card to pay for fare at the point of entry) at all stations and bus lines (like NYC and London has). We still ended up using our preloaded Orca card this trip, but can discontinue that for future (unless taking the Monorail, which still requires an Orca card). Transfers are free for 2 hours from the first tap (excluding the Monorail), with initial charge being $3. There are no gates, with the pay stations being intentionally out of the way...it really is about the honor system to tap. We also used Westlake station as the transfer point to get from the monorail on the 3rd floor of the Westlake shopping center down to the lower level where the station actually is. Connecting to the 1 line, we got to Sea-Tac airport station in 41 minutes (though from there, it's quite a walk to get to the terminal area).

Sign me up! +95% cheaper than any Seattle Uber/Lyft ride, das for sure! ++ Having a whole empty bus pick up only me and drive only me around felt like a red carpet treatment. xD + The app provides live updates of your bus' location on its way to you by the minute. + Friendly, helpful driver staff. + Spacious. Only 2-4 occupants at a time. You totally have your choice of seat. + If you're lucky, fast pickup. I was at the Seattle ferry terminal when I ordered via Ride Pingo. The bus came within 2min! Experience #2: - If you're unlucky, pickup could take over 30min. The service is a shared ride, so if someone else happens to request a ride around the same time as you, and they're located a bit out of the way, the bus will still reroute to pick up the other person first (and possibly drop them off at their destination, unfortunately) before finally picking you up. Uber and Lyft don't share this flaw. - Furthermore, once you request a ride, you'd best stay put. The Ride Pingo app doesn't provide the bus driver a live update of your location like other rideshares do. Initially staying put, I saw the added delays. I decided to start walking from my pickup point toward the bus. I stayed on the path the bus would take to reach me, so the driver will see me. After a 15min walk, the bus showed up and drove past me. I waved to the driver, and the driver waved back at me as she kept driving. I felt nervous and abandoned, but I quickly looked up BI Ride (Kitsap Transit)'s phone # and eventually got it sorted out. After some scrambling on both sides, finally the bus found me. - And during this incident, I checked that a $9 Uber would've picked me up in 8min (while a $52 Lyft would pick me up in 27min. shocker). - After picking me up, the driver proceeded to pick someone else up and then drop them off before 'finally' dropping me off at Ba Sa Restaurant. Experience #3 (avoided another predicament): - Requesting another BI Ride later that afternoon, I would be stop #7 and pickup would be in 27min. holy moly. Not worth the $2. Rather pay more for Uber, pick me up right away. Summary My experience with Kitsap Transit's BI Ride was marvelous in the morning (Mon 11am), questionable at noon, and dismal by afternoon (2:31pm).

Coming from out of the area, we did our research ahead of time and found out about Bi-Ride to get around the island if you don't have a car. It's a $2 fare per person per ride but it will take you to mostly anywhere around the island. Per the website online, we downloaded the Ride Pingo app which is supposed to make scheduling and paying for rides easy. We were looking to head out to Battlepoint Park which is on the opposite end of the island from the ferry terminal, so it's not walkable. We had some difficulty getting a ride through the app. When we called directly, they didn't have anything available right away and asked us to call back in 30 min. Kind of panicked because I thought maybe we wouldn't be able to get a ride out that way at all. But we were persistent and kept trying to refresh the trip request on the app and finally something went through. We made a friend at our pickup point so we felt good being with a local who was more familiar with they system. It took a little while for the shuttle to come, but we found out because they were down 2 drivers today. This totally made more sense as to why it was so difficult to get a ride. We had a wonderful time getting to know our driver, Becky! She is really the best and the reason for the 5 star rating. She drove us up to Battlepoint Park and advised us to call earlier than needed before the 3pm cutoff time to catch a ride back. Where we were at didn't have great service, so I ended up calling the direct line for the BI-Ride and Michelle was able to set up our pickup. We were so happy that Becky ended up picking us back up and even dropped us off at gift shop she thought we'd like on Winslow Way East (because I asked her if there were any good ones she would recommend). Becky was amazing and I hope our paths cross again some day if we ever come back for another visit. But at the very least, I hope she sees this review (or someone sees this and let's her know) so she knows how much we appreciated her services today!

This station originally spanned Pine Street, but during renovations in 1988 it was moved to the inside of Westlake Center shopping mall. Which means you can access this via the mall or from street level. If you choose street level, be ready for climbing some stairs. Before coming here, I made sure to purchase an Orca card to make transitioning through the stations easier. The trains run frequently and steady. It wasn't long before I arrived at the station and the train arrived. Coming back to the station was much easier than I expected. I ended up exiting through the mall to cut some time off with traversing the streets. Plus it also let me avoid a hill outside.

Well, I started my day parking on the street by the dock. I jumped in line with fellow soccer followers on game day. Waited in line for maybe 15 minutes and a mini ferry showed up. I paid with my credit card ( $5.50 ) which was a screaming deal. Grabbed an upper deck seat for the journey and waited to launch. I think maybe 15 minutes to cross the great water way and that was it. For those considering using this service I highly recommend it. You're dropped off on the waterfront and have easy access to Pioneer Square, Stadiums & Pike Place Market. Cost wise it's really a great alternative to driving into town.. I'll use again in a few days for game 2 of THE WORLD CUP!

Easily the best views of the Seattle waterfront. The water taxi is very punctual. They start letting folks on the boat 5 min before the listed departure time, and the dock about 10 mins before the listed arrival time. The front a back of the boat is open (unenclosed), including the upstairs back area, and I find being outside in the wind helps numb the feeling of motion sickness vs being in the interior areas of the boat. There are trash and recycle bins in the interior areas of the boat.

There were 4 shuttles cruising the loop on the day that I was riding and I used the shuttle as a Hop On Hop Off to see as many sights as I could. I stayed in downtown Seattle so it was only a short 5 block walk to the closest pick up stop. Some stops are clearly labeled with a sign and some you just have to look for a small group of people gathering while waiting for the pick up. The shuttle is available to anyone in the waterfront area and it holds about 20 people. The posted online information said it takes about 45min- to 1 hour to traverse the whole loop and busses should arrive avery 15 minutes. It was very convenient for getting to the Space Needle and the Pike's Place Market/Aquarium area. Some of the bus drivers were friendlier than others and the busses were very clean. I'm not sure if this shuttle operates year round but I know that it is fully functioning during cruise ship season in Seattle.

This route is also served by the monorail, so our party of three used both (monorail going to Seattle Center from Westlake station, shuttle coming back to Chinatown station). It's a shuttle, not a bus so probably seating for no more than 25 people. On the day we took it, it was not too crowded and traffic wasn't too bad in the area, so the goal of the shuttle coming every 15 minutes seemed to be met. One must look for a bus sign that clearly states Seattle Waterfront Shuttle...there are a lot of other buses in the same area...we saw it drop off people on the other side of the street, and then about 10 minutes later, came for us on the other side. The journey to Chinatown was pleasant, with most people on the bus being dropped off at the Pike's Market stop.

Along this bus route you'll see mom and pop shops, bars, restaurants, public art, Seattle U, murals, and the Central Library. If you'd like to learn more about E Madison St and the Madison Valley, read up on the Madison Street Cable Railway and pioneer William Grose. Spring and Madison streets in downtown Seattle are moderate urban hikes. It's definitely a good workout but not so great if you're meeting up with friends at a Capitol Hill restaurant/bar looking like an exhausted hot mess. If you want to show up composed and energized, let the RapidRide G get you up that hill. Now if you take the bus from Madison Valley it can take you down to the waterfront. The waterfront is part of a multimillion-dollar project that should wrap up this year. The Jellyfish Park (unofficial name) is still under construction but the Promenade is complete. The Torchlight Parade will be on the waterfront this year too. The bus is uniquely designed. Bike racks are inside and doors are on both sides. I know bus bunching was a problem last fall (I had experienced platform crowding) but I'm sure they made appropriate adjustments for this year's first summer run.

I like taking public transit into downtown Seattle because I don't have to pay for parking and there's a chance of meeting any one of these local celebrities. I usually take the 7 up to the Pike/Pine area or to the C-ID because of its frequency. I know if I miss a pick up I don't sweat it because I know another one will be on its way. When I get on the bus I mind my business but I pay attention. Articulated trolleybuses are used for the 7. It runs on a historic route. Read up on the Rainier Avenue Electric Railway & the Seattle and Rainier Valley Railway if you have any interest. It starts from the South End and makes its way into downtown. Rainier Beach (RB), Columbia City, and Mt. Baker are some of the neighborhoods the 7 rolls through. I started catching the 7 more often when I joined the downtown Seattle workforce. This was around the time when the bus seats were brown. Vintage Breda's :) Those old school buses have since been replaced with modern ones. Anyone who's ever grown up or lived in South Seattle has a number 7 bus story. It's like a rite of passage. IYKYK lol
