Lioe's is a great place to take your car. They are a family run business that's been there for 20 years providing customers with trusty worth and quality service. I didn't realize it until I got there, but the family used to go to my church, so I've actually known them for years. They do quality work, without charging you an arm and a leg. You get what you pay for in auto repairs, so yes, you might be able to find someone cheaper, but you can trust these guys and that's worth a lot to me personally. I was a bad girl and waited too long to get my breaks change, so when I finally got it in there, squeeking and whining as it was, I wasn't surprised that I'd messed up my rotors and they needed replaced. I had my own set of breaks and they gladly put them in with no "fees" for having my own hardware. They were pretty quick, done in just over an hour and even came to get me at the cafe next door when it was done. They were friendly and efficient in the office. And when they accidentally rolled down my window (which was already broken) and realized it didn't roll back up, they tried to fix my window for me, free of charge. It broke again, but that window is possessed, so it's not their fault. I can't say I'm excited to go back for maintanance but that's because I'm cheap and I hate spending money. Joined the Lioe's brigade this afternoon. thanks to all the posters here who helped me make an easy decision on where to take my 11yo 85k Accord. i went to a place like this in So Cal and was hoping to find a similarly affordable, reliable neighborhood shop here in Seattle. today was just an oil change and the service was exactly as described by others here: no hassle, no trying to sell me other stuff (*much* appreciated since like most women this is the aspect of car service i hate most), warm and friendly folks and a great price ($36). and though it's a small place, they were fast. i called ahead, they told me to come by around 2:30 (fri afternoon) and i was pulling away after a 40 min wait at the coffee shop next door. when it's time to do the 90k service and the breaks, i'm heading back to Lioe's. read more

I've had several terrible experiences with auto shops before, so I am hesitant to take my car in for work- I usually do the work myself if I can. It's a mid-engine car, and not the easiest (read cheapest) car to work on. I finally had a problem with it that absolutely required a lift and some specialized tools that I can't afford. I just KNEW it was going to cost more than the car is worth (i even contemplated selling it). I finally had to tear the band-aid off and this place came recommended. I was not let down! These guys were not pushy at all, they were way faster than expected (I've grown accustomed to "sorry, we had a hard time finding parts for your car), and it was half the price I was expecting! I'm so happy with this shop that I may not do the next few projects myself, and instead take it to them! Completely satisfied and totally pleased with the service and price. People like the Lioe's are what makes Beacon ROCK! I live on the same block as this business and see how busy they are ... I wasn't too hopeful they could squeeze us in same day when my car died. It's a tough neighborhood for parking, and the business has no parking lot; not only did they accept my dead car towed to their driveway, but when the tow truck was two hours later than I told them, they still got my starter replacement done in just a few hours. Ken called to check in after diagnosis, made sure I knew about some unrelated issues that might need attention soon ( came in for a starter they updated me on brake status) but no sales pressure. Blue was in dire need of an oil change and they fit that in too. In and out under 5 hours, $1 more than the LOWEST estimate that repairpal.com gave for starter alone. This is a true family business .. Kids and cousins of the namesake I gather. I must've spoken to 4 different individuals there but after one meeting they each knew which car was mine and what it needed. Lastly ... As a grown woman who's owned a bunch o' crappy cars I usually have a pretty good idea of what's wrong with 'em- it was refreshing to deal with a mechanic who didn't talk down to me when I told him what I thought the problem was--- clarifying questions were asked in a totally easy, respectful way. I went to Lioe's after reading numerous posts online. I needed an ongoing list of things done to my 94 Honda. I spoke to Kenny about getting an overall checkup to clarify what I needed done...he told me it would be 85 dollars which was coo, but if I was to get repairs done there he would waive it. So I dropped my car off and got a few repairs done...long story short I spent well over 400 hundred dollars and still needed to get the brakes on the car done. He quoted me a fair price on them but I was highly disappointed when he still charged me the 85 to look at the car after he said he would waive it. I don't know if i'll be getting my brakes done there or not. I don't even know if the repairs he did helped my car...I haven't been driving it due to the brakes being bad. read more

I found this shop through recommendations on cartalk.com. The entire family has made a big impression on me. The first time I took my car in, I put my old bike in the back so I could ride home while they were working on the car. When I took the bike out, they noticed the tire was flat and fixed it for me before I even left. By the time I got home they had an estimate ready for me. It was not a cheap day at the repair store, but I have confidence that they did not upsell me into any products or repairs that were unnecessary. I've been in to pick up my car as late as 9:00 (by arrangement) and they were there working away. Another time I went in to have my brakes checked (maybe 6 months after my first service) and Ken remembered everything he'd done to the car just by recognizing me and the car. Very hard working folks and always very cheerful. I have recommended them to several friends who have since left the Subaru dealerships and now take their cars to Lioe's. read more

We had been going her for 6 years as our regular mechanic. But starting in Dec of last year they went down hill. The power steering went out on my husband's car. So we took it in to get that fixed and its tune up. After we got the car back it started jolting when you were at stop lights. We took it back and they said there was nothing wrong when they hooked up to the computer. About 2 weeks later, it started doing the same thing as when the power steering went out. My husband took it back in. They missed a leak in one of the hoses and had us pay another $300. We also said the jolting hadn't stop. Which they informed us still was nothing. When we finally took it to the dealership for another issue. They told us the spark plugs had been set wrong and caused aditional damage to our car. Never again! read more

so many positive reviews, wish I could write one. Lioe's is walking distance from my house and has a good reputation. Score! Except....My Isuzu rodeo started smelling like gas. Really badly, like headache-making badly. Took it to Lioe's. Mechanic said he didn't smell anything and followed the whole fuel system and didn't see anything wrong. Didn't smell anything??!! Took it to a friend of a friend who said "Phew, that doesn't smell right!" and found a leaking gasket immediately. Might give them another try except that was a dangerous oversight! read more

They fixed my lemon of a car! I love coming to Lioe's. They're always responsive, and when I had a persistent problem (a previous repair at a dealership in San Diego resulted in a torn hose which started burning out my O2 and MAF sensors one after another), they fixed it. Cancel * I brought in my Audi A4 2002 3.0 L it needed a water pump and was quoted $1200.00 (9hours labor+ $465.00 parts) to me it seemed a little high . I had Kenny at Lioe's wait to here from me before starting.I called around to 2 german/foreign repair shops (1 )Arrow on 4th $895.00 ( $91 hr and $175 parts)with parts and all 2nd Auto Sport Inter. Seatac it was $845.00 with parts($85 hr $125 parts) .I went to Arrow on 4th super professional nice i' found a great place you wont go wrong. Both places use a common book to determine hours needed 7.15 plus parts easy peasy (parts always very some don't get me wrong). i think that Lioe's stretched it a little on labor and parts .I went to pick up the car told Wally the reason why i was pulling my car .He gave me my keys no problem no cost for quote .Priscilla FYI:Lioe's did a whole timing belt water pump etc 30,000 miles ago (at $250O with3 seals replaced as well) bad luck for me the water pump went the quote for $1200 at Lioe's is only for a water pump thermostat and fluid.. ) .ALL I"M SAYING IS SHOP AROUND .DON'T RUSH OFF A CAR TO BE WORKED ON FOR CONVENIENCE SAKE .Peace read more

It's the first working day in the New Year. After an inspection report from dealer, I intended to get a second opinion quote from Lioe's for fixing several items for my car (120K miles), including t-belt & water pump, engine mounts, one cv axile, flushing trans, streering, brakes and engine tune up. The guy answering my phone call refused to give me a quote and insisted that I must take the car over to the shop to get a quote (what a hassile to drive 20 miles to the shop to get a quote! I live at the east side). He was very impatient and rude, saying that "if you can't bring the car here, and are not satified with him, go pick another shop". :( I called several other shops, all of them are willing to give me a reasonable quote over the phone. I will never return to this place again. I would highly recommend going somewhere else to get your car fixed. The customer service was horrible. They said they would call me back after they did the diagnostic but never did. I had to call them to hear back about what they found out about my car. After finally hearing back within an hour of closing for the day, I asked them if I could come in the next morning after I did research on how much it usually costs to get the work that they recommended. I have had trouble with mechanics in the past with up-selling and I did not want that to happen again. The technician sounded offended at my request, that I would even consider comparing prices with other mechanics before I made a decision. I came in the next morning and the technician continued to be very rude and short with me. I told him I was on a budget and I didn't want to do the mechanic dance of getting one repair only to come back a few days later because all of a sudden what they first diagnosed as the problem, turned out to actually be something else. Lo and behold, a couple days later that's exactly what happened. Upon returning to the shop and letting him know that the problem had returned, he became incredibly difficult to have a conversation with. I was trying to come to some common understanding, explaining that all I wanted to do was get my car fixed and the concern in my voice came from not wanting to break down on the middle of the freeway while on the way to pick up my family. Yet despite my sincerity, he was unwilling to help, claiming that because I was so critical of him, that any work he did would be insufficient and because of that he refused service to me. He said he did not want to do work with someone that had no trust for him. How does that work? I expressed apprehension for getting any work done that may not be necessary and then when that is exactly what happened, he gets mad and offended that I would have the audacity to come back and talk to him about it? Is being critical of mechanics to keep them accountable for their work the wrong thing to do? Is wanting to save money a reason to be rude to someone? Was I difficult to work with just because I wanted to do my own research on prices and not just take his word for it? I guess I am not the type of customer he wanted because I had a mind of my own and I can think for myself. I called him out on his customer service and all he could respond with is that I wasn't listening to him. I've never written a yelp review in my life. However, I was treated so terribly at Lioe's Automative that I can not let this ride. For the rest of my life I will tell any and everyone that I know to avoid this place. Go somewhere else. Brought my car in to be looked over before a big road trip. In the past I had gone in with my former boyfriend and received excellent service...not this time!!!! Maybe because I was a single female they thought they could rip me off???? At first mechanic called me and said a valve had a little leak but no big deal just keep an eye on it. Ok Great can do. Went to pick it up and dealt with a woman at the counter. Suddenly this leaky valve was a HUGE problem and on top of that my timing belt needed to be replaced. They priced the whole thing at $2800 ($1000 of it was for timing belt). She said "Bring your bicycle because your car will break down.") Something about the woman's mannerisms and made me suspicious...so I brought my car to Carter Dealership in Shoreline. They priced a timing belt change at $675 (when a DEALERSHIP out-prices you, something is definitely off!) Carter checked over my car and NEVER even mentioned a leaky valve.... read more

First let me say that I am not the usual customer who knows nothing about working on cars. I have rebuilt many engines and I would have changed my timing belt and water pump myself on my Honda, but I didn't have the correct tools or the time, so I read the yelp reviews and decided to trust Lioe's. The good news is that they did the job quickly and at a price that was agreed to. The bad news is that they did the job quickly and made some mistakes. While inspecting their work, I found that one of the bolts that holds the timing belt cover on had been inserted in the wrong hole, and it was sticking out about 1/8" too far even though it was fully tightened (it had bottomed out). The head of the bolt wasn't touching the timing belt cover, so was not really doing anything at all. The owner (I think he was the owner) tried to tell me that this was the way the car was presented to them, but I know otherwise because I had removed that cover myself previously and replaced it myself, and I would never make such an unprofessional mistake. I always keep track of which bolt goes in which hole so that I don't run into such problems. So the owner found a shorter bolt in his shop and put it in for me, and he said that it wouldn't have made any difference anyway. I don't know how he knows that it wouldn't have led to a damaging vibration or other ill consequence, and I suspect that the engineers knew what they were doing when they designed the car. So now I have a shorter bolt somewhere in a deep hole, and wonder if that will lead to trouble or what other mistakes they might have made. I told the owner that when I spend $85-100 per hour for labor, I expect good work. He seemed to take offense and we had a heated conversation. When I got home, I also noticed that several spark plug wires were touching each other, something that I always make sure doesn't happen because it will cause cross-firing. I noticed that they spilled some antifreeze on my battery and didn't clean it up. I almost never let another person work on one of my cars, and each time that I do, I am reminded of why. I don't like the prices or the quality of work that I found here, and I will not do business with them again. read more

Lioe's is awesome. I first went to them when I got a punctured tire across the street at the gas station. The gas station owner came out and told me to get out of the lot or he would have me towed. He wouldn't even let me go 6 blocks home for help. So I drove down the street on the rim and set to changing the tire, but with the car jacked up and and the lug nuts off, I couldn't budge the tire. I walked back to Lioe's and asked for help. I spoke to an older man, and at first he just told me to kick it, but I told him that I had and he came out to try himself. Then he went back and got a crowbar and got my tire off for me, no charge or anything. That was six months ago and since then I've taken my car to Lioe's for it's regular needs. The prices are competitive, the service is wonderful, and they're fast. I had another flat tire last week and they fixed it for $16. I was going to put it back on the car myself, but they insisted on doing it, no additional charge. I love having a trustworthy neighborhood auto shop. read more

Beware of questionable business practices. I brought my 2001 Outback to have this shop determine whether it needed a new headgasket and CV joint. While, Outbacks need headgasket service near 100k which my car was near, this was not the case for my car. My trusted shop determined the last place to change the oil overfilled the oil pan as well as spilled oil. Also, the clicking noise was loose lug nuts not a CV Joint problem. Clearly, they did not spend any time looking into the problem which I would have paid for "rack time." What they did spend time doing was explaining how they could sell the car for me. They would complete the repairs and find a buyer.. They would give me the difference between the $2500 to $2800 repair bill and what they were able to sell the car for. Wow, what a deal. Do yourself a favor and keep driving to Moss Alley on Capitol Hill. After they made a proper assesment they told me to come get my car free of charge. I asked them to change/flush nearly all the fluids since I am keeping the car not selling it. I gladly paid them over $500 for their services. read more
