Booked an oil change online and battery test because I thought my battery was on the way out. They don't open their gates until right when they open so I was parked on the side of the busy road for a bit. Suggestion open the gates when you get there so customers can wait in your lot. The people working were a bit off-putting and condescending luckily they didn't try to scam me into anything. He announced I needed a new battery like he was surprised I was right. Their battery after rebate was $50 more than Costco so I got it since I didn't want to mess with installing it so the $50 lazy tax was worth it. Also they claimed their batteries were better?? Not sure on that the internets have mixed opinions on the Costco batteries. After they were done they parked my car under a billboard that they were cleaning so dirty water was spraying all over my car, and I got wet getting in. I am not sure if the water was started when they parked it, but it was frustrating to have to pay for a car wash after I had just gotten one a week prior. read more

I need to have my a/c serviced, but most shops were booked for weeks. I went online and was able to make an appointment for an A/C Evaluation service at Pep Boys for 8:00am. I arrived early to make sure to be first. They opened the door at 8:00 and I was indeed the first to be served. Actually, I was the only one there. I now understand why. I went to the desk and told them I was here for my 8:00 A/C evaluation. I was told the a/c guy doesn't come in until 10:00. So why did they give me an 8:00 appointment, knowing that I was planning on waiting there while they performed the service? Maybe they think we don't have anything better to do. Will never go back. Guy at the desk barely stopped eating food to talk to me. This comes after my last service here where they stripped the threading in my oil tank requiring a full replacement. I had such an incredible experience I will return, and NEVER go to the dealership for repairs again. Pep Boys SODO went above and beyond for the following reasons: Excellent communication: They kept me updated throughout the process! Tracking was easy on their app as well. I am not going to lie, I don't know much about cars and they kept everything in laymans terms. I've never worked with a team that made sure I understood my cars needs and all of the options. Speed of service: I have had my car at the dealership for days for half of the service they delivered in 2 hours! I got replacements, inspection, rotation, alignment etc. all within 2 hours on the same day of service. Pricing: I paid less than half of what I usually do. Horrible customer service at PEP Boys SODO Seattle WA location store #6451. Had a 300pm appointment for oil change and tire rotation. Arrived at 300pm and service desk employee with an attitude would not get off the phone or put the phone to speak to me. After standing there for 15 minutes I tried to tell him i had a 300pm appointment. He ignored me and then I had enough of his uppity attitude and left. DON'T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE. I got nail in my tire and when I made appointment online at this office for 8 am it was plenty of slots available for that day. Woke up at 6 am to be there by 7-43 and then they tell me they have 4 people booked at the same time for 8 am and since I was online appointment they cant help. The only they suggested to leave the car and come later in the day. In that industrial area? How I supposed to go to work?! they were rude and unprofessional. They told me I am not only one with this problem hell I know that, but don't waste people time by giving fake slots online. They said management aware but they don't change anything! SO BE AWARE that you may not get in if you booked online with them. The funny thing I came there by 7-43 and I was the only one. If he said 4 people come for this spot why nobody showed up? I waited until 8-10 and there was nobody there. I told them that they said even if people late they have to accommodate them. What??? They should be some 15 min period if people late it's a no show. This doesn't make sense not to take customer that is already waiting there ( with an online appointment) versus waiting for some people that don't respect the appointment, what if they don't show at all? Went to pep boys In West Seattle on Wednesday of last week, was diagnosed with a faulty alternator. They were quick and easy and took my car in the second I went in. Repair went quickly, took about 4 hours of labor and wasn't insanely expensive. Customer service was 10/10, absolutely great people working there that made me chill out after coming in a panic. Now fast forward to 2 days ago, my car began to die quickly and made the executive decision to get a second look at it from West Seattle Auto. Turns out pep boys had sold me a garbage alternator that was draining my battery. Called a few minutes ago saying I can provide proof of purchase, receipts and diagnostics from West Seattle Auto all proving the alternator THAT THEY SOLD ME was a faulty part and was better off as scrap. Got hit with a total change in tone and was told "We don't do refunds unless we change the part out ourself, it's in the fine print" how great is that! Pep boys practically stole money from me, love it. Would recommend any Tire/Brake/Cosmetic work done here but for the love of god don't let these idiots replace any parts under the hood. read more

Needed light bulb change on SUV. Made an appointment online Friday night for Saturday morning. Received a call 40 mins before appointment to learn garage was not able to support Saturday service. Pep Boys staff/Robert offered appointment openings for Sunday and Monday. Chose Monday and and received follow up email and text confirmations. I really appreciated the conscientious phone call so I could manage my weekend schedule. Service today, Monday, was quick and prompt (done in 30 minutes). Received email and phone call when service was finished. Robert kindly informed me of invoice amount over phone. Professional and courteous- old fashion values shown at this location. I have been a customer of PepBoys for almost 10yrs. Today I will not be using them again. I booked my appointment online (as per usual) and since it was for a big job (the suspension) I CALLED the shop earlier in week to confirm. No problems or issues mentioned. I called today to see if possible to drop off day early but since they were slammed no big deal. I got a call late afternoon from them to CANCEL my appointment. This manager said that online booking is not recommended and should call the store. I already knew no point telling him I did that too. He just assumed no big deal to push my Friday appointment out to Monday or Tuesday. Considering I use my truck for work and took the day off (I run my own business) I cannot reschedule to take another day off especially if they pull the same crap. Way to get rid of loyal customers PepBoys SODO. Take someone that has been with you for years, scheduled appointment 2weeks prior and called to confirm to just say Nope, not going to honor that appointment. read more

I have brought my car to this Pep Boy's location 3 times in the past few months for various repairs and have been fully satisfied each time. One was for new tires. The second was for new brakes. The third repair was engine and accelerator related. All work was priced and quoted to me in advance. Their communication was frequent by phone, but also by text and email. John, Jesse and Victor were very polite, friendly, and helpful. They also kept my car locked up indoors when it needed to be kept overnight. Their attention to detail is much appreciated.
