I just moved to the south side of Seattle and was in need of a good mechanic. I came to yelp and found Lioe's and couldn't have been more pleased with my entire experience. I was headed out for a road trip and just wanted an oil change and a safety inspection. I received and oil change and a safety inspection. They didn't try to sell me anything or pray on insecurities. Rather, they gave me confidence that the vehicle was in good shape and didn't need any additional repairs/tune ups. And after driving 1400 miles in two days, I'd agree with them that the car was ready to go. They treated me like a person and not just a customer. The only part that some customers may find weird is that they don't have a parking lot, so they park your car someplace on the street near their location...didn't bother me at all, but just wanted others to be prepared for not 'seeing' your car right away. read more

I've been taking my Subaru to Lioe's for couple years and had okay service but they recently replaced my thermostat and forgot to replace my coolant. I drove my car about 6 miles and realized something was wrong: I could also hear the change in the sound of my engine. The reservior and radiator were completely empty - no water, no coolant. When I took it to Lioe's Automotive the next morning, they had a very casual attitude, refused to admit they had any responsibility and wouldn't apologize for the harm they had done to my car. They did refund me $20 when I insisted they at least refund me the price of the coolant and labor, since they didn't really do this. I brought my car in for routine maintenance and left with a seriouxly compromised vehicle. I will no longer go to this garage. They could have kept a good customer, but choose to act in a very cavalier way instead! read more

It is so refreshing to go to an auto repair shop that isn't trying to gouge you. They replaced my front brakes, resurfaced the roters, and an oil change, all for under $250. It is also great that I live a block away and have a great mechanic at a stone's throw! read more

Multiple reasons to praise Lioe's Automotive! They were able to replace both timing belts on our Subaru Impreza same day we brought it in. We bought belts previously at O'Reilly's and they turned out to be the wrong size (on a side not one of many reasons to not purchase from O'Reilly's!) but they were still able to get the right belts and get it done same day. We saved over $130 from bringing it in to Lioe's instead of a Subaru dealership and the work done was outstanding. We haven't had any issues and our power steering works perfectly once again. On top of it all there were two times I talked to them on the phone when I had poor reception and my phone was cutting out. Not once did they lose any patience with me and were always really friendly in every communication I had with them. Definitely going to be a repeat customer though I'm hoping it'll be long ways down the road before I need to be! read more

I took my car to Lioe's to get the front brakes fixed. One of the calipers was sticking and I didn't have time to replace it myself. Plus I'm a little wary of my brake bleeding skills and wasn't sure I'd be happy with my handywork. I dropped the car and took the light rail/bus to work. They called me just before noon to report that indeed one of the calipers had frozen and needed to be replaced. Interestingly it was the opposite side that I thought - I would have replaced the wrong one! They also offered to adjust my parking brake and suggested that as long as they had the front brakes apart they recommended turning the rotors and of course replacing the brake pads. They did all this and it was done by the time I got home that afternoon. A few days later I heard a grinding noise from the front brakes and took it back late in the afternoon. It turns out I had picked up a rock from a gravel road I drove on. They squeezed me in, found the rock, removed it, and called me to let me know what happened. No charge either! Living only a block from this place is pure bonus! read more

This place is fantastic!! Extremely fast, good communications, very competent, and not pushy. Admittedly I've only gone here for flat tires and an oil change, but they had it done within 6 hours both times. I just drop it off on the way to work and hop right on the bus. Brought my car in because I needed a new power steering pump. I told them this when I dropped my car off. They call me back with a ridiculous estimate. I call other shops, they say they will do it for a couple hundred cheaper. So I decline the offer they made and I go to get my car. When I show up they want to charge me $70 for a diagnostic that just says what I already TOLD THEM what the when I dropped my car off. Thanks for absolutely nothing. Lioe's is the best no matter what kind of car or what kind of problem. Frank can diagnose and fix your car at a fair price. I had engine problems and went to the Ford auto dealer. After all thier diagnosing, they said I needed to get a new engine. I took the car to Lioe's and Frank said it was a broken spring valve. The car ran for another 100,000 miles. Ever since then I have taken my car in for oil changes, filter changes and general maintenance. He is busy - but you know why; he's good with cars! read more

I found Lioe's on Yelp when I needed to get an oil change. Lioe had some pretty good reviews and so I decided to go with them. I am glad I did! I was given an estimate of 45 minutes for my vehicle to be done and they were right on time. Very friendly and informative. Pretty fairly priced. I just moved to town, so they even took the time to give me the lowdown on the city's best restaurants and such. I had told them that I need to find an auto transport company to get my car from the state I'm moving from. They took the time to find me a referral with a better price than I had been quoted by several other companies! Definitely recommend to others! read more

Moreover, when I was looking into purchasing a new 'used' car, I had them check out all the cars: they checked them for free, let me know what I should be looking for, gave me some contacts to call, and helped me negotiate my price. For someone who drives up to Bellingham once a week and commutes over 30 miles daily, they keep me safe and on the road. I highly recommend that everyone go there. I look for three things in any business I plan to spend my hard earned money at: customer service, price, and quality of product/service. Lioe's automotive hits all three major points right on target! I had my clutch replaced and was able to get it serviced the same day it was taken into the shop, which to me is incredibly convenient. They contacted me while my car was being serviced and told me that my clutch master and slave cylinder needed replacement and I gave them the okay. I do appreciate that they called me first to confirm. Their prices for labor and parts were competitive with every other shop I called for an estimate. I chose to come to Lioe's based on great reviews on Yelp and also word of mouth. They got my car running like new and everything is working smoothly. It was time for the 90,000 mile service and I needed all the belts changed and changing of all the fluids. It happens when the car is seven years old. They got me in did all the repairs in a timely manner. I am really please as a certifiable car nut, I know what needs to be done. They completed all repairs and inspections. Wow! I recently became a new car owner of a 2000 Subaru. I wanted to find a good mechanic that I could trust, was local, and family owned. Lioe's fits all of these criteria - and nobody tries to rip you off. I first took them there for a check up of the car - very reasonable prices and I got some Christmas chocolates. I've been taking my car to them ever since - they are always friendly, never try to sell you more than you need, and provide top-notch service at good prices. Its also nice that you can go there as a woman and they don't talk down to you. I always take the car there for my service and oil changes. Its a family-owned business, and from what I understand it is all by word of mouth. I've recommended all of my friends to come here too. I also love that there is a coffee shop right next door and that they'll come and get you when the car is done. Highly recommended. read more

Poor customer service, never called me about my vehicle even though they decided to not look into the problem. Kept saying "no short cuts" over and over again. If you ask me telling me to replace my block is the biggest short cut of all -- when my catalytic converter is broken. read more

I read about Lioe's on Yelp and decided to give them a try. I dropped my car off and gave them a description of the problem I was having. The problem seemed like a tough one to figure out because it could have been related to many areas of the car (engine, fuel intake, etc) however they called me back within 2 hours and had it properly diagnosed. The repair was quick and the price was great. Their customer service is also top notch and they gave me a chocolate bar for the holidays on the way out! read more

These guys are great! I only gave them 4 stars because i have only used them once, but they were very efficient and helpful. I took my car in to get the oil changed at a mainstream place that had done work for me before. They told me i needed over $1000 worth of work. I took it to Lioes after seeing their Yelps and also from hearing good things from friends. Not only did they tell me a lot of the work wasn't necessary, they also pointed out that the simple oil change i had received was horrible, and that i had a leak, which they fixed for free. The one thing that did have to get fixed, they did much more affordable. They were polite, friendly, and explained things very clearly to me. i would definitely recommend them! read more

Took my 07 Tahoe for the first time for regular oil change to test out the waters(in this case business) and Im sold!! Ive been with my dealer since i bought car brand new and I swear my fees keeps climbing the ladder of ridiculously pricey. Took a chance and I am very impressed. He(idk who/which mechanic) recommended front brake pads, which I already knew so I just dropped off my car this morning and Im hoping it'll be good news but for now I'll give a 4 stars... stay tune.. read more

I have been a customer for last 8 years and I think it is time that I wrote a review. Before I get to great service, they have also helped me with my car buying process. Working with Kenny has been amazing and he is very very accommodating. I went their first because a dealership told me that it will take me $2500 hundred to fix issues with my Maxima that was worth $5000. Friend recommended me and they took care of immediate problems for $800 and I got other problems fixed over time for $300. Since then, no one has touched my car. They have been taking care of my Lexus since Day 1 and I couldn't be happier. Overall, a well run family owned business that takes pride in what they do. read more

I'm so glad I went here! I needed someone to do a pre-purchase used car inspection. They were able to work me in that same day. I can see why others recommend Lioe's. They were my saving grace. The history report on the vehicle looked spotless. I thought I was going to be buying a car that day. Lioe's quickly got me in when I arrived and looked at the car while I enjoyed a quick bite to eat at the bistro next door. Thank goodness I had this car looked at. I've had 2 experiences with Lioe's. The first was okay, and I was happy I'd found a decent auto shop in Seattle. The 2nd time was downright awful. They tripled the estimated price. This is illegal, but I didn't realize that before I paid. They did work that wasn't necessary, and they did that work poorly. There is an opening from the engine into the car, creating a draft and constant smell of the engine. They couldn't find the problem. My car is an old car, so I will have to purchase another rather than try to fix their mistake. It's sad because I really love that car. It's never had a problem til going to Lioe's. I took my very well maintained Subaru here for a check up before selling it. Lioe's is not my regular mechanic. The manager made up a story about the head gasket leaking which almost cost me the sale. I checked in with my mechanic, who saw the car a week earlier, then got a third opinion, who agreed with my widely-liked mechanic. I was shocked that someone who appeared friendly would lie to me straight up, for no clear reason at first. The buyer of my car said he kind of admitted to the story not being true. He just didn't want his shop held accountable if something went wrong with the vehicle. So it look two of three mechanics to get a great Subaru sold. My head gasket was perfect. No leaks seen by anyone who cared. What a waste of everyone's time. read more

I met Frank in 1990 when my brother and I brought a Honda in. Since then we have moved around the country, but have continued to bring our cars back up to Lioe's for repairs. Recently I dropped off two cars for Kenny (his son) to fix while I took a plane back east. We came back, and the cars were ready and worked perfectly. Kenny continues the incredible work and friendly service that Frank began over 23 years ago. Now, if he can only find me a used Camry to replace the one I still have from 1987! read more

Do not patronize this shoddy, duplicitous, deceitful, incompetent garage. They replaced the rack and pinion (steering) in my van. The mechanic broke off one of four bolts used to fasten it to the frame. Then he broke off his extraction tool in the hole, and didn't tell anyone. He let me drive the car away with only 3 bolts holding it on. After 3 weeks, the entire rack was moving around as I tried to turn the car, so I took it in - thinking that the struts were bad. The mechanic (at a different garage) found the problem, showed me what was going on (I have the broken tool and stripped flange) and fixed it for $200. Had I not caught it, the rack could have come off the car while it was underway, causing it to go out of control, kill me, my family, or other drivers in cars nearby. When asked about it - their reaction was "not our problem". These people do not deserve to remain in business. read more

I was so relieved to find out that there were several little things wrong that Lioe's fixed right away and charged me about $400 less than I thought I'd have to pay. Thank you Lioe's! Suffering from acute mechanical issues,I scheduled a day off from work so lioes auto staff could service my car.Initially I was thrilled when Mr lioe told me the problem was minor and would cost me nothing.Mr. lioes couldn't have been more polite/charming.I drove away happy as a clam.The next day after starting my car to go to work,I started exp the same problems,even worse!The car was shaking and stuttering and I bearly and with great relief got the sickley behemoth up on beacon hill to lioes auto shop.My relief was quickley replaced with horror when the staff of lioes were less than happy to see me.I thought I had done the right thing in bringing the car back but Mr. lioe emphatically responded"there must be something else wrong with your car and you can't leave it here! "I don't have time to fix it for at least a week"! HUH? so here I am with a quivering ford explorer that I was bearly able to get to what I thought was safety. Mr lioes told to "move it "and he walked away!Nobody in that garage offered any assist. I was shocked and dumbfounded.So now I'm late for work,my car is screaming for asst .I don't know what to do so I get in my car and cry.(yes I'm a girl) so me and ole girl(explorer) stutter, start and stop our way down to rainier ave and found some kind auto folks willing to help.Mr. Lioe is a very mean man.all he cared about was "parking issues".But he refused to understand that the only reason I was there was because he failed to do his job thoroughly. I am very upset because not only do these people try and over charge you which is very dishonest but I paid for an hour for them diagnosis the check engine light and they couldn't even get that correct. I took my car here and he told me it was a bad sensor which would cost $590 to repair I was like my car is a 2004 that is ridiculous I went right down the street same day spent an hour with someone else they turns out it was not even a sensor but a piece of bent metal under the sensor no charge I am sick I feel a little taken advantage of and will never be taking my car back here again.
