AMAZING. Small scratch kitchen. Had to wait a while for our table to be ready, even with a reservation. Food: -Fresh focaccia: made in house with a whipped sea salt butter and ricotta with honey to dip in. SO GOOD but wish portion was bigger. -bucatini: delish! Creamy and truffley. I believe their pasta is made with their sourdough -gnocchi: but not regular gnocchi. The texture was softer made with a special vegetable and a warm Gouda topping. Phenomenal. Wait for food was long as well. Only part that made them lose a star was the wait. Food was 11/10

What an absolute excellent experience at Lion & the Rambler! My friend and I came in on a Wednesday night and were instantly greeted and accommodated. From beginning to end, the service was spectacular and impressive. I frequently dine out in Miami and this was probably one the best customer service experiences I've had in long time. Everything is sharing plates, so my friend and I ordered the folllwing: Burrata, Sourdough Bread, Maitake, Bucatini, the Grouper and the Caramel Apples for dessert. Everything was beautiful presented by the chef. The bread is phenomenal as was the butter it came with. Although everything was delicious, my favorite dish was the Maitake. I could've ordered a second dish of that. Sooo delicious! With such great service and delicious bites, I'll be sure to recommend Lion & the Rambler to friends.

Delicious food! Great Service! Nice ambiance! My kids actually tried avocado toast for the first time and they loved it!! They also enjoyed the pancakes and the donut. The shrimp and polenta was delicious and super savory!

I really wanted to like this place but it was just underwhelming. The flavor profile is just not there. We ordered the sourdough, house made focaccia, roasted beets, beef tartare, Iberico ham, baked cod and boniato pelmeni pasta. The food presentation was nice. However, the flavor was lacking so I'm thankful it was a small portions. They don't have a full bar - FYI. On the weekends, they only do tasting menu for $95/person. We were not aware when we made the reservation. If you did not want to do the tasting me, you can order from the regular menu but you'll have to sit at the bar. They were nice enough to let us sit at the regular table. The overall service was ok - nothing to rave about. The ambiance was that of a typical contemporary America cuisine, nothing special.

Superb! Superb! Superb! A friend and I had the 4 course menu at the Lion and the Rambler, a relatively new restaurant on Ponce just south of Calle Ocho. A small restaurant but perfect for these beautiful 4 course extravaganzas. It's a husband and wife team. The wife runs the front of the house and the husband is the creative chef. The meal started with a number of delicious amuse bouches, followed by sweet potatoes in a very thin skin and a sour orange sauce, cod with coconut bisque and a Thai basil sauce, short ribs cooked for 48 hours and then a wonderful mandarin ice cream with white chocolate and sorrel (where do you find sorrel in Miami!?). Followed by a number of smaller sweets. A very creative, innovative meal! If you have a chance try

Hmmm. Don't know what all the fuss is about. Came on a whim as the place has had a lot of buzz and it is one of the last Gables restaurants RZ in the Michelin guide I haven't tried yet. First, it is not a full service bar. Bummer. We ordered mainly appetizers and they were mostly underwhelming. We had the beet tartar. The beets tasted straight out of a can or a pouch from Publix. The beef tartar was ok. The potato dumplings were again ok. The entire meal was underwhelming and not inspiring; flavorless. The only highlight was the white wine Predicador which I had in Granada Spain in a Michelin restaurant. When I shared this with the wait staff I got zero engagement. Overall: underwhelming.

I really, REALLY wanted to love this place & had been dying to visit since it opened. For a belated birthday dinner, my son brought me (a leo!) here. As soon as we walked in, the service was amazing! The hostess was so sweet & everyone smiled and welcomed us in like we were VIP's. As soon as we were seated, out adorable waiter Anthony brought me a birthday card that the entire staff had signed! SUCH a special touch. I couldn't wait to start ordering. They have a prix fixe menu that I wanted to try but my son wasn't very hungry. Prix fixe is all or nothing, whole table has to choose it so we went a la carte instead. I also ordered a cocktail. Unfortunately, the are waiting on their liquor license (i believe) so beer & wine only. All their cocktails are sake based which i'm fine with but was way too sweet when it arrived so i went with a white wine the next time. We ordered: BREADS & SPREADS - Focaccia with the Whipped Ricotta: BEST thing I had all night. That bread was divine & the honeyed ricotta was so good! SNACKS - Zerbinati Melon: It was beautiful to look at & tasty but not life changing. - Aged Gouda Cheese: this was super disappointing although my som really liked it. Felt very gimmicky. It was a large, mostly tasteless cracker with fig jam (tasted like guayaba to me) & the gouda shredded over the top. It looked cool, i guess but would never order again. SMALL PLATES - Steak Tartare: My son ordered this (I don't eat mammals) & said it was ok. Not as flavourful as he expected by the description in menu. - Maitake Mushrooms: I was most excited about this & again, looked absolutely gorgeous when brought out. The Parsley & Garlic Sabayon was delicious & the most beautiful shade of vivid green! Could not detect any flavor that would resemble "cherry blossom" like it said in the description but whatevs. My real issue with this dish was the overly salted mushrooms. Would have been pretty good otherwise. PASTA - Boniato Pelmeni: And again, perfectly plated & looked straight out of a magazine but unfortunately, it was so sweet, it ate like a dessert. So much so that I could not finish it & passed on an actual dessert (I never do that.) All in all while there were a few things I didn't enjoy, I would definitely come back to try the things I loved (looking at you, focaccia) & some more bites I didn't try. I still believe in Lion & the Rambler, it's a Leo thing :)

Not your typical Miami restaurant. You have to go with a open mind to have a gourmet experience! The ambiance is beautiful, cozy and romantic perfect for a first date ! The service was perfect and our waiter was super nice and friendly. Their menu is full of great appetizers and their corn bread (not your typical one) was delicious . The presentation of each plate is art in form of food. Each plate is unique in presentation and flavor ! Coming back for sure for more !!!

Highly recommended 10/10 Every single dish we had tonight was exceptional and so was the service. We will definitely be coming back!

Fresh ricotta with honey and cultured butter

Miami spice 2022 visit to the Lion & The Rambler. This restaurant mainly has small plates good for sharing. The Miami spice menu is a 3 course 2-3 options per course. Our party of four selected the spice menu and added "all the breads and spreads". This new location in the former eating house space is evolving so what you see below may not be all on the current menu. The bread is a fantastic way to begin the evening. Everything is House made; the focaccia the sourdough cultured butter, plus we added their whipped ricotta with honey and eggplant spread. All incredible and a must try, in fact we even ordered another round of sourdough. Our first starter was our favorite white asparagus ajo blanco white cucumber, pickled cherry, it's like a cold soup, creamy sweet and savory, fresh and light. Very much Enjoyed. Our second starter may have been a Miami spice only item; it was a blue fin tuna, it had a spice to it almost like a chipotle, it wasn't as light and refreshing as I would normally expect a tartare served with mashed avocado and potato chips. I would skip that. The stuffed chicken wings with a country sausage and a cherry glaze was good, but the value proposition on the portion size with two relatively small wings is lacking, should be 3 or 4. For the main course we had the Miami spice pork cheek with grits offering which was hearty and plentiful. One of our diners got a pasta dish with pork belly, good flavorful pasta. And for an up charge we got the Miami spice version of the koji aged ny strip for two with charred onion sabayon, crispy imagine farm's watercress. The Watercress was tempura fried and addictive, the sabayon was fine, honestly the flavor didn't really come through, but that's not a bad thing either. The steak was excellent, on par with any steakhouse. I'm sure this is a smaller portion than the non spice version but, it was pretty filling, and the best entrée. For desert we enjoyed the frog hollow flavor king pluot ice cream, tart but the ricotta mousse lightened it up. And the three sister's goldfinger banana ice cream chocolate mousse, tasted like fresh coco, and enjoyable. Service was mostly prompt with servers and runners all working as a team throughout the night. Water and wine were refilled promptly until around the dessert course where I had an empty water glass for the rest of the visit, consistency is key, especially if you start out strong. It took some time to cash out as well. All an a nice evening, worth a try!

Loved our meal at Lion $ The Rambler. Service was very attentive and on point. We ordered several dishes to try (3 guests). The focaccia bread was incredible; freshly made and melted in your mouth. The house-made butter with salt on top, and the ricotta dip, were both so delicious and stood out. The oysters were extremely fresh and the mignonette was very soft and subtle. The tuna tartar had a nice touch of crispy with the shallots on top. The steak tartar had green blueberries that were fermented or pickled and had a really unique and delicious taste. And lastly was the corn agnolotti that had a super unique whey sauce on top. We finished with the tangerine ice cream which is chefs take on our childhood creamsicle and it was so good. Definitely took me back! Will definitely be returning.

I finally took advantage of Taste of the Gables to check out Kojin…read more My sister and I arrived a little before 9 p.m. and waited to be seated. The dining room is charming but small, the tables are tiny and packed very close together. I also wasn't a huge fan of the lighting, though I loved the minimalist, Asian-inspired floral centerpieces. They were out of the Albariño, so I asked our server to recommend something similar. He suggested a Riesling, but it just wasn't for me, so I switched to sake instead. In hindsight, I really wish he had mentioned it was $35 a glass. That was a pretty unpleasant surprise when the check arrived. Anyways, my sister & I decided to share a bunch of different dishes. To start, I ordered the Summer Salad and my sister got the Milk Bread. The salad was phenomenal, bright, fresh, and full of interesting flavors. The stracciatella added this creamy, comforting richness that tied everything together. The milk bread with miso butter? Absolutely insane. Easily one of the best bites of the night. We also ordered the Crudo à la carte. The presentation was beautiful, with flavored shaved ice keeping the fish chilled, but unfortunately the fish itself tasted overly fishy. We only had a bite or two before telling our server. His response was basically a shrug. No concern, no follow-up, no offer to replace it. For our mains, my sister ordered the Wagyu Striploin, which she really enjoyed. I went with the Maitake Donburi, and this was probably my biggest disappointment of the evening. I was expecting bold flavors, smoky mushrooms, and some contrast in texture. Instead, everything leaned overwhelmingly sweet. The mushrooms had no char, the rice itself tasted sweet, the egg was runny, and the entire bowl was covered in an almost sickly sweet sauce. It felt one-dimensional, and I ended up taking 2 bites before leaving most of it behind. Again, our server noticed and didn't ask if anything was wrong or if there was something else I'd prefer. It felt very much like, "Oh well." For dessert, we shared the Carrot Cake and the Chocolate Tart. Both were good, but neither really wowed me. My sister loved the chocolate tart, while I thought it was just ok. Overall, Kojin wasn't quite the experience I was expecting. The service felt surprisingly indifferent, especially when two dishes were sent back almost untouched. That said, the Summer Salad and Milk Bread were so creative and genuinely delicious that they're reason enough for me to give Kojin another shot. Next time, though, I'll be ordering very differently.

Tonight we decided to mix things up and give this place another go, this time for their Miami Spice menu. Their selections for this menu highlight some favorites from their current dinner menu. For starters I had the tuna tiradito, which was exceptional. Hubby had the pulled burrata which I snagged a bite of and was also excellent. For entrees we both went with the caramelized sea bass atop creamed corn, with a side of broccolini. Everything was cooked to perfection. The sea bass was incredibly moist, with a wonderful sear. The creamed corn was decadent and delicious! The broccolini brought a welcome brightness to the main. It had a smokey char and grilled lemon which punched it up nicely. For dessert we couldn't resist the dirt cup. It makes you feel like a kid again, digging through cookie crumble dirt for buried treasure in the form of hazelnuts, salted caramel, and vanilla ice cream. I tried to only have a couple bites but it was hard to resist! All in all this was an impressive meal from start to finish. Our server Marisol was also fantastic and super patient with my dietary issues and was able to ensure some subtle changes to my dishes. Eating out on a restricted diet can be kind of difficult but she made every effort to see things were taken care of, and that was very appreciated. We did not have drinks this round but they do have a thoughtfully executed cocktail menu including some zero proof options, and even a N/A wine by the glass! Stopped in here after dropping off my bag in my room. Arrived very late so missed out on being able…read moreto order a ribeye from room service do came to the bar instead. Turned out to be a good call. While I was woefully overdressed ( t shirt and shirts as I just came off a transcontinental flight) for such a fancy bar in Coral Gables on. Friday night, staff was polite and welcoming. Was treated with respect and courtesy despite looking very WT. Traveling with food allergies is a challenge. The Kitchen was extremely accommodating and was able to modify my food to my allergies and preferences. I ordered the Chocolate Carajillo. Probably not the smartest thing to order a drink with two shots os Espresso at 10:40p but it soup def to tasty and it was! Plus the little chocolate that came with it!! Yum! If they sold those bars... I got the watermelon salad minus a bunch for f stuff: basically just watermelon, cucumber and feta. Thick clucks of cucumber, tasty watermelon chunks and hunks of feta. Yes, please! For protein I went with the double cheeseburger minus the bun and mayo and without the side order of fries = gluten free. They have a GF bun but I rarely eat a bun. It was a double pressed patty that was freshly made not cooked earlier and rewarded, so hit that the cheese was melting. Always a good sign. Delicious! Great service from Crystal and Ashley - my water glass was constantly filled without me having to ask. 18% gratuity automatically added to bill. Seems to be standard for all Coral Gables and Mismibhoteks (some add 20%). Had breakfast here. Different servers and hostess as well as different vibe and service despite an empty restaurant. Had I not eaten here last night my review would be a 3 based breakfast service. I had to get someone and ask for my water glass to be refilled. There are limited gluten free options but they do have GF bread do was able to have the croissant sandwich but with gf bread. I'd get this again. I also got the Greek Yogurt. Tasty but you need honey and it's a big portion so easily shareable. It was a lot of good for you be person do I didn't order anything else. Already deleted those photos do guess I have to stay here again I would totally eat here again.

I don't usually leave negative reviews, especially because I'm a server myself and I understand how…read morethe job can be. I also understand that getting one of the last tables about 40 minutes before closing isn't always ideal, but it's still part of the job, and we never felt like we were asking for anything unreasonable. We were a party of four adults and a toddler. Daniel introduced himself and immediately asked if we were ready to order. We ordered a glass of wine, waters, an appetizer, and our toddler's meal, and let him know we'd be ready to order the rest in just a moment. About two minutes later he came back for our entrée order, so we placed it. One thing that stood out right away was that our daughter was never offered anything to drink. I ended up giving her my own water because no one ever asked if she wanted a beverage. The food was absolutely amazing, and the kitchen deserves a lot of credit. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. I ordered my steak medium, but it came out overcooked. Normally, that wouldn't have been a huge issue if our server had checked back on us, but Daniel never came to ask how everything was or if we needed anything. Later, my husband ordered a glass of wine because he didn't want me drinking alone. The wine never arrived, and we never received any explanation or apology. We chose not to ask for it again because it was already difficult to get our server's attention. Instead, he seemed more interested in talking with another server than checking on our table. We've been staying at this location for two nights and have had both dinner and breakfast here, and every other experience has been excellent. That's why this visit stood out so much. One final point: our check included an automatic gratuity. I completely understand and support automatic gratuities when appropriate, but they shouldn't mean the level of service drops. Great service should still be the standard, and unfortunately, that wasn't our experience with Daniel. The food was fantastic, but the service left us disappointed. I hope this feedback is taken constructively because the restaurant and its kitchen are excellent, and with better service, the experience would have been outstanding.

That sandwich absolutely delivered. The bread was fresh and soft, the chicken was perfectly crispy and not too "chickeny" at all (IYKYK). Easily one of my new favorite chicken sandwiches. My friend and I also shared the deviled eggs, fries, and creamed corn - all of them slapped. She ordered the caesar salad, which she loved. I tried a few bites and felt it had an unexpected umami, almost Asian-inspired twist. It was definitely unique, just not my personal favorite. We grabbed seats at the bar and the service was top-tier. Every bartender and server was super warm and attentive. While we were there, you could tell regulars kept popping in and greeting the staff by name, which I think really says something about the place. You can tell Hillstone has built a loyal following and I think it's for good reason. Safe to say this won't be my last visit!
