    Surprise Bday dinner
    Vivian V.

This a was my Birthday dinner celebration with my amore He surprised me with this lovely surprise, a place nestled in coral Gables and well know for the food and ambiance. After long due I came back to find the same charm as I remembered from over 10 years ago The impecable service from the bar to the table is consistent The food is delicious and well presented The vitello tonnato taste as I did enjoy recently in Italy My red snapper in parchment paper was heavenly and I thanked the waiter for his recommendation And the sweet finale was my birthday dessert A romantic and lovely surprised I enjoyed very much. I recommend this place for the service and food The nearby parking and beautiful decor is a plus.

This place has a very old school feel to it, very classy Italian. Our waiter Anthony was amazing, very charismatic and attentive. I had the mozzarella in Carrozza which came with some pesto which was amazing, I also had the beef carpaccio, the calamari, and the ribeye which were all very good. I ordered the tortellini Tatiana which was by far my favorite thing I had this night, the sauce was perfect, I highly recommend it. The caccio e Pepe was great, and the lobster ravioli was another hit. I would honestly pass on the chicken Milanese there's much better options to choose from. For dessert the pistachio gelato and tiramisu are an absolute must.

Was invited here to a lecture & dinner hosted by Miami Veterinary Specialists tonight, and I gotta say this was SUCH an amazing dining experience! From the valet to being greeted warmly at the entrance you feel like a celebrity! We were in their private dining room towards the back. The servers were top notch, keeping the wine refilled, the table clear & very amicable. Their bathroom is also an experience as it is very decorated and PINK! The food was very delicious, the salmon melted in my mouth and the tiramisu was to die for. All in all this place is a gem and I can't wait to come here again!

Excellent from start to finish! I literally thought I was in a scene from The God Father (no one dies in this version). The warm welcome with amazing Italian dishes. The vibes and ambiance is nice and the service was great! We had the lobster ravioli, Ceasar salad (with some anchovies on the side), red snapper in parchment paper and tiramisu. From start to finish, it was incredible and we will certainly be back. Enjoy!

The food, bar and staff were so amazing. I waited for my party at the comfortable cozy bar. The bartender was easy to talk to and very informative. He shared items not on the menu which was amazing. I ordered the chicken parmigian, CAPPELLINI AL FILETTO DI POMODORO. I'm not even going to talk about the desserts. They were all spectacular! The wait staff was so accommodating and helpful in making sure my experience was perfect.

Special of the day. Salmon thinned out and topped with an olive sauce. Came with a soup or salad and a side of veggie and potatoes

This is my 2nd time here. The appetizers are delicious and a good amount for what you are paying. Staff are superb and very attentive. My favorite is their fried calamari. This restaurant is a bit pricey so I would day it's a nice spot for a date night. Don't be shy to try their specials, you won't be disappointed. The guava flan, I hope they keep because it's the best flan I've had.

First time visiting this Coral Gables institution after many years of thinking about it. Did not disappoint. Came for a late lunch and opted for the lamb chops with vegetables. Came with a starter mixed green salad and warm baked bread. Opted for a good glass of Amarone and finished off my great meal with a traditional tiramisu. Nice ambiance, cute little bar area, and a favorite spot of local celebrities. I shall return.

The food is truly authentic Italian cuisine. It was outrageously delicious! From the moment you enter you are greeted by an amazing host that has been with the restaurant for decades, which made you feel as if you are eating in someone's home. The place was packed and noise level is a bit high because of the small location, but a fun place.

Everything was absolutely spot on from the host to the servers to the food. We had a large party in a private room and were treated like royalty. Thank for you a spectacular dining experience. These two photos should explain it all.

    Veal Parmesan and fries

I came here with a group of friends for Easter, so I know this post is a bit late. But I had to write it because they deserve 10 stars! We started with a couple drinks at the bar. I got a simple whiskey sour with Jack Daniels, a drink I've had a million times at a dozen bars. It tasted like they were using a top shelf whiskey because it was so well done! When we finally decided to eat, we were seated quickly and take care of by a generous and friendly staff! I ordered the veal Parmesan (which isn't on the menu but I was there with a couple regulars who recommended it). I thought fries were maybe an odd side, but again came highly recommended so I followed the crowd. My dish was AMAZING. It was absolutely smothered in cheese and had just a dollop of sauce on top. I wanted to eat the whole thing, but probably would have blown up if I did! The fries were also fantastic. Shoestring fries are tough to get right because they're so easy to overcook and make crunchy, but these were perfectly done. Much like the veal, the serving size of the fries was asinine! All the more for me to take home! Because it was a holiday, we treated ourselves to dessert. It was SO difficult to choose, but I went with the tiramisu. Guess what? It was incredible! I also tried some of the other desserts around the table, so I can say with confidence that you can't really go wrong. I had a wonderful experience here and would gladly return another time!

Instead, we were sat at the smallest bar seating, which was completely inappropriate and not romantic at all for an occasion like Valentine's Day. As soon as we sat down, I politely asked if we could be moved. The manager then told me that I had booked bar seating, which is simply not true. Why would anyone reserve bar seating a month in advance for Valentine's Day? I checked my reservation confirmation myself and it never stated that, and I even tried making another reservation to verify ..bar seating wasn't even an option. He told us he would "see what he could do," and we were left waiting at the bar with no water, no menus, no service, and no communication whatsoever. Meanwhile, we watched multiple couples get seated at proper tables back-to-back. At one point, we even overheard another couple say their reservation was at the same time as ours, and they were seated at a table immediately. When I tried to politely ask for an update, the manager or owner completely ignored me. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I was honestly in shock at how disrespectful and dismissive they were. We ended up getting up and leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special, and this restaurant completely ruined that experience.

I'd certainly recommend Magie for a casual date night, or nightcap after dinner elsewhere. The patio with string lights and all does seem cute for a quiet evening.

As others have stated, Magie is good in concept and we'll likely return here, but with just a bit…read moremore effort on their part this wine bar could be so much better IMO. Unlike some other reviewers that scoffed at the prices of the wine, that didn't bother me so much. We had a bottle here that cost $55 and it retails for about $28; I was OK with that, as all restaurants and wine bars have a markup above retail, and even when you go to spots like Happy Wine or El Carajo and pick out a bottle to drink while in their shop, they charge a corkage fee for that. What I did have a problem with is that, after the "service charge" and other fees were added on, our $55 bottle rang up to more than $73 in total, which was ludicrous. When we first arrived at Magie we were met by a young guy who pointed out the bottles and where the various charcuterie items are located in the coolers, and we were then pretty much left on our own. We really just wanted a glass of wine each, but unlike places like Vinoteca, here at Magie they had a very limited selection of wines by the glass, and the ones available all seemed to come in single-serve cans. We picked out a bottle to share, went to the register, paid and the guy opened it and handed us 2 glasses. When I returned to get napkins, the guy just motioned to where the napkins were so I could grab my own (after moving a delivery cart out of the way by myself so I could reach them). Again, though this place includes an automatic "service charge", we received zero actual "service" unless one considers the 45 seconds it takes to uncork our bottle and charge us for the purchase. We had a seat, had a glass of wine each and then re-corked our bottle of wine and took it with us. Overall I think Magie is a great concept with lots of potential. The inside seating area is interestingly decorated and outfitted with lots of eclectic furniture and items on the walls, and the relatively large patio seating out front with tables for 2 to 8 people is shielded from the adjacent street/traffic and shaded by lots of trees and greenery. The ambiance overall is really very nice. The service, however, was non-existent, especially considering the automatic charge for that, and while prices of at least some wines aren't terribly out of line, the fact that all the service charges, taxes and fees added $20 to the cost of our bottle was a bit of a shocker. Magie should consider adding more wines by the glass IMO. Not just subpar quality single-serve cans, but decent wines, poured from a proper bottle with a topper that preserves the wine between pours like most every quality wine bar commonly offers. Lastly, while I don't think anyone expects linen napkins and white glove service, the paper plates and plastic cutlery customers are given to eat with are a bit off vs. what this place appears to be trying to be and the prices charged. The "F*ck Brunch" positioning statement on the back of the staffs' shirts was an interesting touch.

The first location in the River is better imo because the location is bigger, there is plenty more seating than the Grove location. Although, I still enjoyed my time at this location as well. Sooo how it works is that you go inside and pick a bottle of wine from the fridges. You can also order by the glass if you aren't a big drinker or if you want to try different wines. The bottles are moderately priced depending on your selection. We chose an orange wine and it was nice, very refreshing, you can really get that citrus essence with every sip. Another thing that they have is that you can pick different cheeses and meats and they will build you a charcuterie board. I love this because it is all based on your selection, nothing will go to waste. They also have food you can order. A lot of people love the nuggets with caviar. I think they are decent imo but I'm not like in love with them. Parking can be a bit annoying... If there isn't street parking, you can also park in the garage. The service was good, the staff was friendly. The only thing that was a hassle was getting a table. We had to wait a bit in order for a table to become available. Overall, this spot is a very cozy place to hang and mingle with friends.

They sell bottles of wine, imported olive oils, lots of (mostly European) wines by the glass, and light bites like charcuterie, small pizzas and popcorn. We've come here a few times, our dog was welcome, staff were friendly and outgoing, offering us various tabletop games like tic-tac-toe to pass the time, and once we'd both ordered a few glasses of wine, they offered us complimentary popcorn - something they normally charge for. Wines on their "by the glass" menu average about $16 each, and most staff pour them behind the bar where they have a gauge to measure out each one. The food prep area behind the bar is quite small (which is why they don't have a large menu), but so is this little gem of a wine spot in general.
