I love giving grooming gifts to my daughter as her beautiful Husky/ Cattle Dog/ Shepard mix has a huge undercoat and sheds an enormous amount. This is a useful gift. My daughter is incredibly busy and this dog is her first child. Raja is a 6 year old female dog, but she always hates being brushed or deshedded. She is usually gentle, but this gets her agitated. I talked to Elsie on the phone and she had the best attitude. I made a same day appointment( what a gift)! I felt very lucky. When I picked up Raja a few hours later- I could not believe how gorgeous, calm and happy she looked. Elsie had all the right tools, patience and dog grooming talent to make the experience successful. Elsie went above and beyond and put pink bows, and a matching tropical scarf, and even gave Raja a Flamingo toy. My daughter was thrilled and she said there is much less shedding in her house. Attentive, thoughtful, and clearly extremely passionate about both dog and owner's success, Danielle is an excellent trainer. During classes she was adept at catching mistakes, delivering in-depth instructions, and making sure everyone was following along. She has a clear dedication to animals, and was able to understand certain behaviors from each dog in the class. When we presented her the concern of our dog's sudden anxiety, she was more than willing to stay behind after class and help us get to the bottom of the problem. My kitty loves Purina Hydra Care (great for kidney disease!) and I usually get it from Chewy but didn't need +$50 worth of stuff at the time... and I was not about to pay for shipping ;) Saw that they are sold at PetSmart so I called them up and the nicest team member helped me check on the item. It was the last one so she offered to hold it for me! When I arrived, I was quickly greeted by a happy human and within minutes I was checked out and on my way home. I had a really great experience - tons of parking, clean and big inside, great selection, and fabulous staff! -Just wanted to share a few great items in my experience if your cat has kidney disease. Throughout the day my cat eats Hills kidney wet & dry food (both prescription), Purina Hydra Care, and got her a stainless steel water fountain to encourage more water - and she has been doing great for a few years now. I've been bringing my two dogs here for years with no issues until February 2025. Aurora gave my springer spaniel a completely wrong cut--cut off all her feathers and skirt when I've always requested (and received) the breed-standard look. When I asked what happened, Aurora immediately became aggressive and started yelling at me, claiming I'd asked for a "tight cut" (I absolutely did not). My husband came in from the parking lot to speak with her and she continued yelling defensively and admitting no fault. She finally said "I don't care, tell the manager." The manager apologized, refunded my money, and told me to come back and request groomer Marcy. Fast forward to today--I called to schedule that appointment and a Store Manager Jessie told me I'm now banned because "the groomers aren't comfortable with my dog." My dogs have been groomed here for years without incident. I had a great experience with the groomer Daniel. The issue was Aurora's unprofessional behavior and refusal to admit her mistake -- not my dog. When I looked up reviews, I found I'm not the only customer she's confronted rudely. Jessie dismissed all of this and suggested I can "hopefully try another PetSmart." This doesn't make much sense except as a clear admission that this store is being retaliatory for my complaint -- which was merited. I don't usually write negative reviews but this is bad business after the years I've been a loyal customer. read more

I was there completing a DoorDash order for a customer and the man at the cashier stand (claimed he was named Nick) was being really rude to me and trying to get me out of the way so next in line could checkout even though I had to finish the transaction on my end. There was also nobody else waiting in line, there was a group only people playing with a dog and were not even in line. The young girl that helped me find items I needed help with went out of her way to help and deserves 5 stars, unfortunately Nick ruined that rating for the store read more

I came in yesterday for what should have been my last dog training class for our puppy. I was terribly disappointed when the trainer didn't show up, nor communicate that class was cancelled. To add to my frustration, we signed up for this 6 week course back in August... 4 months ago. When inquiring about the class at the checkout counter, the crew member immediately got a manager. I cannot recall his name but he was very fast in refunding us for our training. I am so happy with the service and how quick they were able to make things right, they have made a loyal customer for life. In today's world where brick and mortar stores are getting phased out from online completion, yesterday was a kind reminder of the importance of customer service and how it can still make a positive impact to me, the consumer. The grooming department was filthy and so stinky when I walked in there to drop my dog off. Dog fur all over the floor, and clearly no cleaning done after each dog. Someone should be sweeping up after each animal's hair trimming. Stations and tools should be properly cleaned to avoid filth being spread around. Great place for a dog to pick up fleas and sickness. When that proved futile, I asked the cashier who directed me to the same aisle I had originally searched. When I asked for additional assistance, he couldn't leave the register as he was the only cashier open. C'mon people, this is not the way to run a business. My dog Sammy was severely injured in their care while having a bath. To the point that his nail was ripped off, and bleeding profusely, they had to transport him to his vet for an emergency visit. This happened about 4 weeks ago. They covered his emergency vet services, but they haven't called me to even follow up on his care. Never again! I've been going to PetSmart in Westlake for years. In fact my 12-year old dog took puppy classes there. I was supposed to get my rescue groomed today. She was actually in yesterday but they refused to groom her because her rabies vaccine was less than 48 hours before appointment. Okay... So, it was arranged that she would return today. Brought her in and then the staff was concerned because she had scabs on her ears. There is apparently a policy that a dog has a scab that might come off and bleed, they can't groom. Mind you, she's under the care of a vet and he said it was fine to groom her. They called in Chris, the manager, who was just incredibly unkind. He seemed to take great pride in the fact that PetSmart was "corporate" so they had "rules." He suggested that I go to a "mom and pop where they don't even check vaccination records." What??? I think there's a way to communicate a policy without being condescending. Just really unnecessarily nasty (the grooming staff even seemed taken aback). There are a lot of quality pet stores in the area--no need to put up with unkindness. read more

For the 4th time in the last few weeks, I used their website to see if they had a specific product in stock at my store In Westlake. On this particular occasion, I found the product I was looking for, and the website told me there were a few left at my store. I had the option to order online and pick up in store or curbside. There was a 3 hr window for the online order to be processed, so as I was out doing some other stuff anyway, I decided to just pop into the store and collect it in real time. I got to the store and surprise surprise, there was none of the product available. I checked the website while I was in the store to make sure I had not made an error when browsing online earlier, and it still said they had stock available in the store, and still gave me the option to order online for collection later today. I even asked a staff member to make sure I was not looking in the wrong place...but frankly he could not have cared less whether I could find what I wanted or not. I even asked the question about..."if I had actually done an online order to collect curbside, what would have happened in that situation?" His reply was " well, once we got the online order, and we found that we didn't have it, we just would have canceled the order" it feels like a spectacular failure of just about everything - whether it's Inventory control feeding into their website, or their staff really not giving a damn as to whether a customers can complete a transaction or are even being helped. Ultimately, my take away from the entire experience was that PetSmart have zero desire to engage with the customer, or the way that today's customer wants to shop. I had driven 20 mins to my store to collect a product that their own website confirmed was available in store for immediate purchase. I'm stunned that at this point in the evolution of online commerce and functionality, and having collectively come out the back of a pandemic that drove or forced so many businesses ( large and small) to modify how they interact with customers, to find a large chain that just don't have their end to end customer journey sorted out is mesmerizing. I left the store, got my phone out and placed an order with a competitor whilst in sitting in my car for the exact same product that will delivered to me the following day. Problem solved. I try to support local businesses that have weathered the Covid storm, and yet I find myself wondering why I bother. they have lost an order today, and not for the want of me trying to give them my business, but after 4 tries with the same situation where I check for product availability on the website, only to get there and find that it's not in stock I have to give up. It's just not worth it. The sad thing is that I don't actually think they are that bothered. A failure to embrace or even try and meet base level expectations of 21st century customer service or build simple things like an accurate inventory system just leaves me staggered. I'm surprised they don't still carry a food section for dinosaurs in their stores. Conventional retail chains are the first ones to demonize the likes of Amazon or chewy.com claiming they are cannibalizing their sales, but the reality is that they just make it easy by being nimble and agile. read more

There's not much I can say about Petsmart that will change people's opinions about this place, as pretty much everyone that has ever had a pet has been to this establishment. Petsmart is a standard pet store, with average prices, and average customer service. If you are looking to buy a specialty puppy or kitten, this is probably not the right place for you, though they do have them at times. They do, however, have cat and dog accessories, toys, and food. In terms of animals, Petsmart locations mostly specialize in birds, fish, lizards, and other small animals. Parking here is free and abundant, so no need to worry about that. This location is very easy to find, as well. The variety is decent enough and the prices are reasonable. I like the chinchillas and glow fish (see pics, below)! read more

if I can give a minus one star, I would my dog has been going there since I got him in October we've gone every month since, to get his nails cut and trim down, I called this morning to let them know I was bringing him in and what was a good time for them. I gave them my phone number so they knew who he was. I put my dog in the car , drove down there, which is not close. Explain to them he's having surgery on Wednesday and I needed his nails to be cut today they could've cared less, they could've said, bring the proof next time, but they did not care to do that . They turn him away because he did not have proof of his rabies vaccine. You think they would've told me when I called this morning!!!, that I needed to bring it !!!!!!! They dismissed me, they refused to cut his nails, I will never go back there again, the pure lack of customer service and compassion is at a -0 over there . and I will call the district to let them know that it is poorly ran and they don't care and it's disgusting. Have been getting our dog groomed here for 13 years. Clearly you can see that there is longevity in the grooming department. Took my dog in today for her grooming. She's a 13-year-old dog who has a bad back leg. I even told them and they went to pick her up still by her back side. She's already had surgery on her back leg. Please be careful with it. and the man continued to try and pick our dog up by her back. Our dog did not bark or snap She just flipped her head around back at him every time he would go to pick her up that way. I informed them that the dog cannot be picked up. that way she has to be picked up under her tummy towards the front because it hurts her otherwise. The grooming managers continued to tell me (whom by the way has no business being in this field at all, Who clearly has no compassion for animals let alone elderly animals.) She was not comfortable grooming our dog, and the dog is shaking. Well clearly the dog is shaking and she put the dog in an uncomfortable position where shes scared they were going to carry her by her back legs. The grooming manager then told me that I could try and book a further appointment with her in the future but she's booked out and then she told me point-blank I am not comfortable grooming your dog! This was not only absurd. It's absolutely asinine, considering this is a 10 pound dog it is not a pitbull. It is a small terrier that is 13 years old that was shaking and was terrified because she already had surgery on her back leg. She was just there to merely get groomed. These people acted as though I had a feral animal with rabies . I will never step foot back at this Petsmart these people have no business grooming dogs these people have no business having jobs . Zero communication skills... now I see why this Petsmart has such bad ratings 2 1/2 stars out of five. Clearly, there's something evidently wrong with your grooming department.. read more

AWFUL GROOMING! THESE GROOMERS DID SOMETHING BAD TO MY DOG. Took my 11 month old german sheperd to get groomed there. After picking him up a few hours later, he was lethargic, almost comatose, and didn't seem right. I don't know if they gave him something but there was something WRONG with him. He has never been this way. My father even noticed how there seemed to be something WRONG and OFF with my puppy for the whole rest of the day. This was on Wednesday, and today (Saturday), his paws got muddy. I went outside to rinse his paws off and the moment he got close to the water he freaked out and showed his teeth. He has always been playful, friendly and loved water. Now he freaks out with the sight of water. Something happened at the PetSmart groomers.... DO NOT GO!! read more

Really bad ethics. These folks are allowing a company named Serenity Place Rescue to work out of their store. Serenity Place got my kids excited about adopting a cat. After playing with it for 30 minutes and taking a walk to discuss adopting it the kids decided to move forward. The owners didn't tell me or the kids that there was any chance of us not getting to adopt this kitten. Two days later with crying kids their first animal adoption was a disaster thanks to Serenity Place. I would give them negative stars if possible due to lack of transparency and treatment of little girls who are 9, 6, and 2 years old. read more
