I read high reviews for this establishment only to find out most were written with false information. The chocolate babka was the worst I've ever tried to eat. I had to toss it. I saw the ridiculous price but the $26 price was not going to stop me. It was made with Hershey chocolate syrup (yuck) because it's kosher, quick to squeeze on top, cheep to substitute for real chocolate and inexpensive for their price gouging. Go to Trader Joe's and get real babka so you know what it's supposed to look and taste like. I also tried their cheese danish which was good but dripping with grease and skimpy. It was not worth $6.99 and unlike what quality kosher bakers sell back east for half the price. If you're thinking of trying their baked goods? Save your time and money, do not go there! read more

Came in for croissants after waiting quite a while to make it during their limited hours. Went in around 10 and they were completely out of all croissants. They open at 8 so I'm assuming they get bought out right away. We went with a cheese danish and some rugelach. Found the danish to be too greasy and dense with minimal flavor or wow factor. The rugelach (cinnamon and chocolate) were decent in flavor but also seemed overwhelmingly dense as well! Neither were flaky and tender, which tells me (a previous bakery owner that the something isn't quite right with their baking process or the dough!). read more

Companion and I were in the area of the bake shop and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed in the slightest as we departed with $75 worth of baked goods. We started out with several Bourekas. Small packages of flaky dough filled with cheese or mushrooms. Heaven in your fingers. Next were the apple turnovers. Unlike most turnovers these were not the crunchy type but more of a pastry stuffed with seasoned apples. For those who prefer a less sweet pastry, try the sesame Bourekas. Larger than the sweet ones, it is covered in sesame seeds and has a less sweet filling that is delicious. While the holiday of Purim is past, you can still buy hamantaschen there filled with apricot filling. The rugalach were amazing and if you miss old fashioned cheese danish this is where you can get them. Beautifully made and glistening with a shellacked finish of honey. Of course no bakery worth is salt can skip bread, and theirs is wonderful. A lovely challah pillowy light and with wonderful flavor. Just imagine the French Toast you could make with it. Cleanliness is very evident and it was a pleasure to be waited upon by Lior. As an observant Jew from Israel, the shop is closed on weekends starting with late Friday, but it has enough open days to satisfy most people. It's best to get there early as many selections sell out quickly. I will be returning again and again for the wonderful pastries and bread. read more

This bakery is absolutely amazing! All the baked goods have the flavor of yesteryear. The mom and pop service is a welcomed change from the big name bakeries. My favorite is..well everything I've tried was my favorite, but the babka, the chala bread, the varieties of the stuffed Burekas are my first choices. Do not miss this jam of a place. read more

This is NOT your standard American-themed bakery. Products are definitely crafted in traditional Jewish Middle-eastern styles. I've never visited Jerusalem, but can easily envision this operation as an Israeli bakery one might encounter on a visit there. We have enjoyed LTB's diverse yet traditional pastries, breads, cookies, and preserves many times over the years, everything has proved delicious. I've observed their products are ALL made from scratch, with the highest quality ingredients available. Having worked in foodservice distribution for many years, I can make this statement of quality with confidence. Virtually certain this bakery keeps Kosher (kashrut). Pricing of products is naturally higher than may be expected compared to typical bakeries, but it is very fair considering: cost of raw goods, Scottsdale location, craft baking, and the richness of their product line. IF price for quality is not a concern, you'll likely be a satisfied customer. This is a hard-working bakery very oriented towards quality of product, customer service to-go, and shipping products nationwide. My staff interactions with Lior and others at the counter have always been pleasant. To avoid service disappointment, be aware that business days/hours are a bit limited, operating strictly in observance of Shabbat and Jewish holidays. Since my review was removed from their facebook post, I thought I would put it on here. I went in to purchase a pie for Thanksgiving, I saw their amazing picture of a blueberry pie and great reviews. I was torn between, getting a blueberry or apple so I bought both. I paid over $70 for 2 pies, wow. The blueberry pie was nothing like their picture! I got home, it leaked all over in the box, and when you cut into it, it was all liquid. The bottom of the crust was all soggy, in essence it was soup pie. The taste? It was like a sugar cookie crust. Not your typical flaky crust you would find in a pie. The apple was a little better, because it was not soup, still not a flaky crust pie. For almost $80 in 2 pies, I expected better. I am so disappointed in them. Never again. They need to stick with making challah.. read more

Absolutely 5 stars all the way! Been coming here since they opened and never had a bad experience. The smell when you walk in is something else. You'll have to see that in person. The family favorites are the chocolate croissants and chocolate bobka. Yes bobka, remember that Seinfeld episode ...gotta have chocolate bobka and only schnitzels will do? Then this bobka will have you understanding what that's all about. It is a little $$ but take a bite and try to see if you've ever had anything that good. This isn't hype, try it and see! If something looks good but you have no idea what it is just ask! It's worth eating once and you'll probably have all new favorite stapes in your home too! The Friday challah is ready after 9am or so. The hours are EXTREMELY LIMITED so check Yelp and or their site for the most up to date days and hours. It changes seasonally too. read more

The pastry looks good because of some glaze they spray on everything. Otherwise, the cheese Danish was ok, but the almond croissant left grease stain marks the size of Russia on the bag. The filling was oily and not tasty. The whole thing was a soggy mess. read more

Pastries are amazing....have not tried everything but what I have tried was amazing. I, highly, recommend the chocolate babka. Lior uses fresh ingredients and you can tell. We happened to walk by after lunch and were intrigued by the bakery and getting some things we had never tried. We came before closing and not tons of things were left, so we opted for a couple of almond danish-like rolls and a chocolate croissant. Got a shock when it rang up to nearly $17.50 with tax! According to their website they have a beautiful assortment of baked goods. I have been looking for a good Jewish Bakery since I moved here from Los Angeles. I decided to give it a shot so I drove with a friend from Glendale, AZ. We arrived and walked in to this tiny bakery that had a very limited variety of anything. Hmmm. I decided to try the almond loaf $22.00 I wasn't impressed with anything else. I went home and in the morning I was looking forward to tasting this. Made a 30 minute trip to try this bakery that has Jerusalem style goods. The rugalach is just like what you can find in the Yahuda market in Jerusalem, the chocolate ones are fantastic (6 for $9). I also tried the potato / onion borekas ($3.85, delicious) and a plain challah. I was lucky enough to arrive just as the timer went off for the chocolate babka and i got one straight out of the oven, hot! I did want to dig in immediately, but that wasnt practical, so i did wait until i got home about an hour later. This was the best chocolate babka ($19.99) I've ever had (and im from NY), moist chocolaty, flaky. I read some of the lower reviews, the person in the bakery was a very nice gentleman and seemed greatly appreciative of my visit and purchase and if you dont know why some of the pasties are shiny, then you havent had these items at a decent bakery! They are supposed to, they either have an egg wash or a simple syrup wash. A wonderful visit and discovery and will definitely be back for holiday items and occasional treats. read more

A friend highly recommended this bakery. I've driven back several times for their Moroccan (Zatar spiced ) bread. I'm so glad I can freeze it fresh and still enjoy a month later and just as delish. The place is small but clean with a couple of tiny tables and a few chairs inside. The 1st visit I had a coffee and ate a cookie before my final selections. Next visit I sat and enjoyed a burreka then made my cookie and pastry purchase. All items have been so tasty. Lilly the bakers wife is very sweet and patient. Had to visit Lior while on vaca - like many found Lior through Blippi. I nanny a 4 year old boy who loves Blippi and was so excited I was going to visit his bakery. I travelled with a troll character (Tiny Diamond) - Jude put him in my suitcase and wanted pics of him around AZ. Lior was so gracious by letting me get a pic of him holding Tiny Diamond. Wonderful bakery with helpful staff. We stopped in yesterday after a visit to Taliesen (just down the street) and ordered a couple almond croissants, challah bread and a few little babka crescents (forget what they are called). Made the bread into grilled cheese sandwiches that evening - heavenly! Had an almond croissant for breakfast the next morning and it was exceptionally wonderful. The little crescents were sticky and sweet, but unfortunately they stuck together in the bag on the way home, so they weren't quite as pretty as we bought them but they still tasted good. The Rugleach was great. Went in for Challah but almost everything was sold out. Wish they would wear masks. No sign about customers having to wear masks either. I walked by their stall at the Phoenix Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning, and I couldn't help but give into temptation. Every baked good on display looked amazing. The woman at the table recommended the milk chocolate croissant, and I wasn't about to argue. I took it back to my hotel room to enjoy. This croissant was the best I have had in years. Grocery store or mass-produced croissants tend to be heavy; this croissant was light in my hand and in my belly. The pastry had a multitude of buttery, flaky layers, and there was just enough milk chocolate inside to balance. Absolute perfection. I would love to try more of their pastries, though this croissant would certainly tempt me again. read more
