Seinfeld bobka got nothing on Lior's take! Still warm, just baked!
    Mike D.

Absolutely 5 stars all the way! Been coming here since they opened and never had a bad experience. The smell when you walk in is something else. You'll have to see that in person. The family favorites are the chocolate croissants and chocolate bobka. Yes bobka, remember that Seinfeld episode ...gotta have chocolate bobka and only schnitzels will do? Then this bobka will have you understanding what that's all about. It is a little $$ but take a bite and try to see if you've ever had anything that good. This isn't hype, try it and see! If something looks good but you have no idea what it is just ask! It's worth eating once and you'll probably have all new favorite stapes in your home too! The Friday challah is ready after 9am or so. The hours are EXTREMELY LIMITED so check Yelp and or their site for the most up to date days and hours. It changes seasonally too.

I got the peach cobbler cupcake, which was almost $7, and for that price I was definitely expecting more. The texture was honestly so strange. The outside was dry and crumbly, while the inside had this really dense, gummy/doughy texture. Somehow it was dry and doughy at the same time. There were actual pieces of peach in it, but I could barely taste any peach flavor. Overall, it just didn't have much flavor at all. I'm not sure if it was specifically the flavor I chose or if it's because I'm not really used to vegan baked goods. I can definitely appreciate that they offer options for people who are vegan, have allergies, or have certain dietary restrictions and still want to satisfy their sweet tooth. But for me personally, the taste and quality just didn't justify paying almost $7 for one cupcake. The customer service didn't really help the experience either. Since it was my first time, I asked the girl at the front what their best sellers were and what she recommended. I was genuinely trying to make conversation and get some guidance on what I should try, but she wasn't very helpful or engaging. It honestly felt like I was talking to a wall. Overall, it's a cute spot and I appreciate what they offer for people with dietary restrictions, but between the price, texture, lack of flavor, and customer service, it just wasn't for me.

We made our reservation online and were seated right away, which made for a great start to our celebration. It took a little while for our waitress to come to our table, but the restaurant was very busy since it was the weekend. Once she arrived, she was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. One thing we really enjoyed was the live DJ, who kept the atmosphere fun with excellent music. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant, which worked out perfectly for our large party and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal together. For drinks, we ordered two Bloody Marys, two beers, a mimosa flight, waters, and lemonades. The only disappointment was the Bloody Marys. For the price, we expected them to be garnished with olives and the traditional toppings that usually come with a Bloody Mary. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, Flapjack Tenders, the French Toast Sandwich (served with breakfast potatoes and syrup), Oxtails with Dirty Rice, and Catfish & Grits. Overall, the food was delicious. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were good, although we expected a little more cinnamon roll flavor and icing, similar to what we've experienced at other restaurants. The biggest disappointment was the oxtails. While they were flavorful and well-prepared, the portion size was smaller than expected, especially considering the $43 price tag. A helpful tip for anyone visiting with a large group: the restaurant will only split the check into two separate bills, so it's a good idea to bring cash or plan your payment arrangements in advance. Overall, we had a wonderful experience celebrating our sister's birthday. The lively atmosphere, great music, delicious food, and attentive service made for an enjoyable brunch. We look forward to returning in the future. We also learned that the owner has another restaurant called Soulful Tacos, which we're excited to try soon.

The babka was chocolatey, the right amount of flakey, and overall scrumptious! The s'mores cronut, on the other hand was less satisfying to me. These cronuts are popular on the chains social media presence, but to me were too messy and too rich. I can't speak on the customer service as we never left our table and our waited just walked over and got what we needed. We were pretty stuffed from our massive meal, but we decided on sharing a cup of gelato just to satisfy our sweet tooth. I peeked inside as our table was right at a little walkway from the restaurant to the bakery. Gelato is just one of many things they serve here. They also have all your typical Italian desserts. Cakes like tiramisu, pastries like Italian flag cookies, cookies like Italian wedding cookies, cannolis of different varieties, and of course gelato. What was suggested to us if we wanted gelato was the hazelnut flavor. I was expecting a little cup for the 6 of us just to get a taste, but what he brought over was a massive serving. I don't know how many scoops it was or even how much we even paid, but we all got plenty with some even left behind. Now this gelato was life changing. Probably the best I've had in the states. I know it's gotta be way better in Italy, but I'll take what I can when I can. Think of a Ferrero Rocher but in gelato form. It was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't overly sweet and it had a little crunch with bits of chocolate and hazelnuts. My sweet tooth was extremely satisfied after having dessert here. We've worked our way through what feels like almost the entire dessert case over the years, and I can honestly say I've yet to find something I didn't love. The shell had that perfect crisp snap, while the filling was silky, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. It was everything I had been dreaming about and then some. Walking into The Sicilian Baker always feels like stepping into a little slice of Italy. Between the gorgeous display of desserts and the irresistible aroma of fresh pastries, it's nearly impossible to leave with just one treat (don't say I didn't warn you! ). Whether you're stopping in for a post-dinner dessert, celebrating something special, or simply giving in to a sweet tooth like I did, this place is absolutely worth the visit. Every dessert we've tried has been phenomenal, and this cannoli was another delicious reminder of why we keep coming back. Sweet craving? Check. Happiness? Double check.
