Went here with one of my best friends! Was so excited for this experience. It was easy to make a reservation. I went with a lip balm because my lips are always so dry. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and I do wear my custom lip balm all the time! I did feel bad that I wasn't loving the shades that were being made by the first worker that helped us. I can tell she was getting frustrated. Another worker helped and I felt like her patience helped us make the perfect shade for me after an hour and a half haha! One of my closest BFFS and myself finally made our way here for my birthday at the Iip lab at Irvine spectrum making the reservation was easy. I did have to put my card down. So there is a cancel fee I called ahead of time and asked where the best place to park was and whoever answered was extremely helpful. I ended up parking at Nordstrom and it was a straight shot We both arrived in time. It wasn't packed. So I did like how I felt like we had a very private and specialized experience Amelia, took care of us. We went over everything and we first picked what bundle / service we wanted. (we both just went for one lipstick each. But I will be back for a gloss and their new custom cream blush) We both went with a buildable coverage lipstick. (I usually do mac brand satin and love that formula. But theirs was too matte still and went for a buildable coverage) We expected to be there and try so many different shades. But, Amelia got our shades on the 2-3rd time. We then picked our scent, the lipstick holder, the names and if we wanted an emoji (our theme was 90s color and names. Especially since I'm a 90s baby) It's pricy for a lipstick. But it's a personalized experience. They also keep your shade on file for if you want it again. They know exactly how to make it. Overall, we were both happy with the product and experience (and customer service ) bonus points for the purse holder hooks underneath the counter at your seat This is extremely fun for birthdays and special occasions. I highly recommend Everyone compliments mine thinking it's the famous -charlotte tilbury pillow talk P.S they also have lipliners you can purchase but those are not customized. Loved my experience here with my group of girls! Our lip experts were Charlie & Yesenia. Both were so patient, sweet, warm, helpful! Charlie provided a sugar scrub to exfoliate lips prior to sampling colors and textures. I loved that Charlie allowed me to sample literally everything I wanted. Tried balm --so nice and oily. Perfect for everyday casual. Matte -very nicely pigment but a little dry for my liking. Satin-- so good! Charlie was able to curate the perfect color for me from a previous lip lab experience with a sheer plum color I am obsessed with and a plummy MAC color (rebel) "married" sooo good!!! Fun concept! Went in for a team event with a group of 7. We had 2 workers helping our group. We all did the "all about ombre" package which includes 1 custom lipstick, 1 custom lip gloss, 1 ready to wear lip liner, and 1 cosmetic bag for $125. Had a fun time with all the customizations from the color, finish, container, flavor, name, and more! We were all a bit overwhelmed by the options and possibilities (a good problem to have) however some of us didn't feel as comfortable doing multiple revisions of our perfect color. At times it felt a bit intimidating as if we were inconveniencing one of the workers when updating the color and sampling a new swatch. I can see how it would be frustrating on their end however finding our perfect shade was the main purpose of the activity. I think we may have had a better experience with 3-4 workers as it did feel a bit rushed toward the end of our appointment. The workers would have had more time to work with us without us feeling rushed. I think there is room for a more buttoned up, warmer, and enthusiastic service experience. I agree with one of the other yelpers who stated that your experience is dependent on which worker you're paired with. Overall still a cool experience and our group had fun! read more

I scheduled an appointment today and had a great experience. My artist was Jacqueline and she did an amazing job walking me through the process. I was looking for a nice deep red and also a duplicate of a shade that Morphe no longer makes. Not only was Jacqueline professional, but really good at providing education on the different shades and finishes. I picked a copper and pink lipstick holder and got them engraved. I booked this experience for my mom and I, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We booked on a weekday evening and ended up being the only group after the group prior to us was done, so the ambiance was vibrant yet mellow. The associate was amazing, very knowledgeable, patient and really made us feel special the entire experience. I made a reservation for lip bar for a party of 6 (later became 5) and we had a mostly satisfactory experience. Our helper was Julissa, she was pretty knowledgeable about the products and also regarding the process. She helped us choose our shades of gloss and gave us our options for engraving and scents to add to our product. The whole process for 4 glosses and 1 lip balm took about 30-40 minutes. We arrived a bit late to our appointment but they did were still able to accommodate us. None of us got lipstick so we were able to get out products right away. Be prepared to SPEND, it's quite pricey once you add tax and gratuity! But for the experience I guess it's worth it since you're personalizing everything. Overall had a nice time! read more

What a fun experience! I was invited to a women's networking event and thought this was such a fun activity to do with female professionals, and easy ice breaker in terms of being able to chat about different colors, scents, textures etc. Caroline helped explain the process to us and did a great job with guiding us every step of the way. Basically you start by identifying a texture you want (matte, sheer, satin, etc.) and a color that you find interesting. Then, you get 4 opportunities to have your Lip Lab stylist play around with that base color to hopefully find your beautiful custom color! There are also a handful of scents to choose from, and I heard that the popular scents are pomegranate and mango. Both smelled yummy but I ended up picking rose. You'll also get to choose a specific case for your lipstick, and once you decide on a shade, you can get creative and give that shade a name of your own choosing, and have that name engraved on the case. There's also a sheet of icons that you can choose from to add to the top of the lip stick case. So fun! There is a lot of labor and love that Lip Lab puts into creating this experience. Perfect girls day with my daughter! Made our appointment the day prior, we were running a few minutes late (parking is nuts on a Sunday) but it wasn't overwhelming crowded. Jacqueline was our color artist and she made the whole experience fun, easy, and super special. At first glance, the pricing might seem a little steep, but honestly, it's totally worth it. If you're shopping at Sephora, you're already spending close to $50 for a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick. At Lip Lab, you're getting a custom shade, a full-on experience, and memories made. Plus the actual lipstick is super creamy I even got the lip liner which is the best liner I've ever owned. However, during the process, we decided not to. The reason simply comes down to WHO is helping you create your lip product customization. It makes a BIG difference. The vibe of the person in this type of business makes or break the overall "good time" radar for me. We went on a random weekday morning. Nobody was there except my friend and me. Our person was just OK. She didn't go above and beyond, didn't seem happy to be there, simply no reaction, seemed rather annoyed that we asked to try different mix from what she made us and bothered when we were figuring out what to name the lipsticks considering isn't this: a. your job? b.customizing lip products the sole purpose of this company? You'd think! She didn't even bother telling us there's an aftertaste to the lipsticks and if we didn't want an aftertaste, what should we choose instead. Although I pushed her to make my color a bit brighter, which I ended up liking better on me than her other ones she made, the strong perfume taste is kind of yuck! For $60 plus tip per lipstick before tip, you'd think it would be better than Sephora service. Quite opposite. Don't think I'll be back or take anyone here. read more

Kind of underwhelming, to be honest. I went with one other person and we each made the lip balm. I made a reservation in advance and it was difficult to flag someone down to check us in. Associate made us nice colors but seemed really disinterested and was generally unfriendly, felt like I was asking them to do a chore when wanting to adjust the color. Got it on the third try at least! But with this type of thing, you're paying for the experience/activity. She also didn't even give us bags for our items - yes it's one lip balm, but not even maybe a pouch? I know they had bags as well... I could see them. They don't take cash and do ask you to tip. I like the balm, the texture is nice but it doesn't have a lot of pigment. Just meh. After coordinating with my cousins and sister, I made an appt online in early February for tonight, April 5th for 5 people at 7pm. We had dinner at Habana and then headed to Lip Lab for our 7pm appt. There were two customers on the opposite side of the store and another two next to the entrance. It's my fault that I had received a text on Thursday and didn't completely read it. I thought it was just a reminder for the 4/5, 7pm appt. When I attempted to check in, the female behind the counter could not find my appt. She went to another room and another female walked up to me and said that I needed to confirm the appt that I made in February online in order to keep it. So it was cancelled and filled by other customers. At that moment, the female worker did not offer another time for my party to reschedule. She also did not offer another opportunity for a future date. We walked out the store very disappointed and ended up buying makeup at Nordstrom instead. When we walked past Lip Lab about 30 minutes later, the entire store was empty besides the workers. Your company lost an opportunity for customer resolution. For future customers, I would recommend you contact your customers with a courtesy call to confirm appointments. My sister drove from LA today and although I take the blame for not reading the text, your workers are equally responsible for their lack of empathy and any attempt to resolve the issue. read more

This place is cool to take your girlfriends! It is pricey though, but it's a cool experience. You get to pick your lipstick pigment, color, container, scent, and engraved wording. I think the experience would have been better if you were able to mix the color yourself or make it hands on. I feel bad for the worker when I have to ask her to redo the color because it was too dark or too bright. The day we went, the engraver took forever since they just got a new machine. For 2 lipsticks and 2 balms, it ended up to be $190. Make sure to make a reservation and keep checking their system if you need to modify/cancel/make a new appointment. There was a guy there that seemed cool as well, but there were 2 other girls that worked there....I'm honestly so happy we didn't get them. I'm sure my experience would not have been as good. They were having personal conversions, laughing loud and literally running in and out the door...just not professional and distracting when you're talking and engaging with the process of customizing. They were patient and you have the options to go through different colors of lipstick, lip balm and lip gloss. So far the products seem to be great, the balm and gloss are moisturizing and my lips didn't chap and start peeling after using the products. You will also be able to get a custom case and name it. This particular lip lab is located at the Irvine Spectrum. Appointments are recommended as they do get busy and all walk ins are not guaranteed. Making an appointment is easy and done on their website. The lab is girly and makes a perfect place to gather with girlfriends or celebrate any woman in your life. Appointments are timed at an hour so keep that in mind. Our lip lab technician was Tallen and she was a vibe. She was friendly and she matched colors so well for us! Lip Lab is a bit pricey but I feel like quality is top tier and I love my lipstick! Its $65 for a customized lipstick and $25 extra if you want to add a lip balm. The experience is pretty fun they give you a color sheet of all the colors they have and you let your technician know which ones you like best. Once you picked a few colors its up to your technician to mix the colors and create your own personalized lipstick. Don't be shy if you don't like it on the first try because she will keep re-creating within the hour until you find a color that you love. Tallen already caught my vibe so she had it on the first try. My girlfriend took a couple tries and then found a color she loved. The fun part once you settle on your customized color then you can add a scent to it (5 options to choose from) I chose peppermint and its amazing. You also get to pick a magnetic case color and name your customized color! Fun or what?! Once you are settled they take an hour to create so get lunch or shop around. Overall, a fun experience and will definitely be back once I'm out of my shade!
