I met Pattie the owner and had a malt at the soda fountain! What a great place and a lot of history.

Lipka's Old Fashion Soda Fountain is the oldest soda fountain in Michigan! Stop by this landmark in Montague, MI for a frozen treat or a delicious lunch! The vintage atmosphere and friendly staff will make you glad that you stopped! The food at Lipka's has the home cooked taste. Homemade soups, sandwiches, salads and pies, there is something for everyone. The staff have been there for years and make you feel like you've known them forever. Let's talk about the cost-- if you want to go out for lunch but you are on a budget, let this be the place you stop at. My boyfriend and I eat here often for under $20! You can't beat the prices. A charming atmosphere that brings you back in time. I highly recommend Lipka's!

If you are in the picturesque little town of Montague,MI this is is the place to go for lunch and make sure to save room for some ice cream, or a chocolate malt so big you will need two people to finish it ! The sandwiches were so so great, and inventive we had to come back the next day to try something else. Definitely a hidden gem, and the ice cream shop/ lunch stop was filled with little antiques that take up a whole wall that are so fun to look at. Loved it can't wait to come back the next time we visit . Don't forget to check out the World largest weather vane!

Disappointing malts and shakes. Chocolate shake literally equals vanilla ice cream, milk, and chocolate syrup.

Their ice cream sodas are truly memorable and reasonable, the ice cream they serve is high quality and the clientele is a mix of visitors and locals.

Waited in line and watch some Barista Ninja make coffee orders and then vanished on our turn. Let's be honest to customers, if you are not the coffee maker warn them!!! Ordered and then he grabbed a bakery item from the chilled case, he was done with me. Then looked at me and said "anything else?". Yep, sure is, he just took my order and forgot, .... was just waiting on my drinks. Then had to tell him what drinks, he then read from a printed off instruction sheet like it was a calculus quiz. On 2nd drink he literally pulled an ice cold cup from the pastry case, which from my view I hoped it came from under it. NOPE. He handed me drinks and as I walked my knuckles were chilled by the cup. Hopeful, I asked husband to tell me if his was hot. NOPE, so mine was a iceberg and pretty sure he royally messed it up as it now is my worst latte in my life (100% coffee could not ever be worse). Yes, worst. I walked back, he looked at me like I was lost, told him they are cold. He stood firm on looking at me with no apologies and I said again they are cold. Still, a look of what you want me to do lady. I put my finger in my drink and said these are cold, just microwave them. They were busy and felt that was fair. Think microwave setting on my chilled cup was 15 seconds. I took them to the table and one sip and blah, chilly and worse latte ever, pretty sure it was 80% milk and a splash of flavoring. The tall male faux barista should be banned from the coffee area. *believe your customer *if you can't make something - don't *coffee cups should not be kept chilled *apologize when you get it wrong

I don't really have the desire to wait 10 minutes to order a cold brew and another 10-15 minutes to actually get it. When it gets busy, the place becomes body-to-body in the café area, which may be some people's jam, but personally it isn't mine. I really wanted to buy a couple of books, but the line to order food and coffee is the same line used to purchase retail items, and I just couldn't bring myself to stand in it again. (I guess pick your books first and then stand in line to pay and get food/drinks?) I'll be back again... but will definitely make the trip earlier in the day... or come on a weekday.

We even ate before we went so we wouldn't get hangry, but even from the wait of being seated to the time the kitchen finally makes your plate of food, my children were almost in tears because their tummies hurt. When asked how our meal was, I finally did mention that this will be our last time patronizing this establishment. Clearly they are too busy to craft a joyful and memorable experience. I appreciated that they had a "garden grown" section on their menu with vegetarian options. My burger was delicious and the coleslaw was genuinely the best I've ever had (a wild claim as someone who's lived in the south half their life!). I also ordered a seasonal coffee from their Valentine's menu that was raspberry and white chocolate flavored. I'm not always a fruit flavored coffee person, but River Stop Cafe does it well! Despite it being quite busy during our visit, service was still relatively quick and the ambiance made for an enjoyable wait.

I'd come across them while doing my HW for the trip, but without really knowing the area, I'd thought that staying in South Haven meant I wouldn't get the chance to visit, but after stopping in to The Flying Saucer in South Haven and picking up their beans there for the house, I learned everything is kinda close on this part of the coast! This is their main location, right in the heart of Saugatuck. It's cozy and colorful, warm and inviting, and filled with some incredibly sweet people. Oh yeah. They have A LOT of great coffee too! Their specialty and seasonal drinks all sounded delicious, but I'm a purist in pursuit of the best cup of black coffee, here for the single origins and blends that are sourced and roasted by this skilled team. Walking in I was faced by a massive wall filled with beautiful bags of beans from all over the world, each labeled with notes on origin, processing and flavor profile. I set my sights on a pour over and when the cashier said I could choose anything from the wall, I was gobsmacked (that's a funny word). The range was so impressive, with great representation from all over the world, processed in all different ways, making the choice quite difficult. It's a good thing I used my time in line to look at all of the options, and I settled on a white honey processed coffee called Villa Sarchi, which was delightful. If I have one quibble it's that they didn't have an actual pour over menu and this is simply because I enjoy asking the baristas about the coffees. This spot is super hot, with a line out the door at all times, so despite the barista at the counter being incredibly accommodating, I couldn't in good conscience hold up the patrons behind me with too many questions or returns to the wall. I also tried their espresso lime tonic for a beverage to stroll with and enjoyed the slight sweet and tart drink very much on a hot day. Uncommon also has a great menu of food offerings and we had a bagel breakfast sandwich and one of their MASSIVE savory scones. I wish I'd asked or been asked about warming the scone because it definitely needed it, but holy hell this thing was packed with cheesy goodness and the perfect foil to my naturally sweet coffee. Normally I go home with one bag of coffee as a souvenir, but I couldn't help but buy two, which were in addition to the beans I also bought in South Haven! In total I think I sampled about 5 different Uncommon roasts and loved them all! I loved this place so much I looked to buy merch, but sadly they had run out of the sizes I needed. There's always next time. Or maybe they'll ship...

Incredible. Coffee wise: fair. I ordered a few specialty summer cold brews for my wife and I and they were tiny, and my wife's was well-made with cold foam and cinnamon, but mine barely had a dollop (I gave her the good one, aren't I a nice husband?) I got a black coffee on my second visit and it wasn't very good. Service: friendly but slow. I was SO glad to have pitcher on pitcher of cold brew back at the AirBNB so I didn't have to wait. The times I came, this place was popping and it (expectedly) took some time. Hours: I was out for an early morning walk in the six o'clock am hour and several other middle-aged to elderly people were circling like vultures waiting for their caffeine fix. I feel like in peak season bumping hours to 6 or even 6:30 might do numbers for them. Food: I ordered a buttered bagel for my kids the first time in and it took a long, long time. I think they forgot about it. It appeared to be a grocery store style bagel and was ok. I'm telling you, this place looks beautiful and it's got great energy. It just so happened the business and the coffee on just a few visits didn't quite land. I would definitely encourage folks to try it out, it just missed the mark more than I was hoping for.
