Ordered food here the night before thanksgiving since I was tired of cooking and cleaning all day. The ordered a loco moco, bacon burger w/fries, mushroom burger w/onion rings, and calamari. My son said the loco moco was delicious. You can choose 2 sides out of a list of 9 but he had all rice. My other son had a bacon burger with fries and he really enjoyed it. I had the mushroom burger and onion rings. The burger sizes were just right. We were able to eat it all without being too full. The calamari wasn't so good. It was way over cooked, hard, and had a funny taste to it (not spoiled, but maybe like they needed to change the oil). We will eat there again. read more

When in Makawao, most dinner options close late but Liquor Shack stays open later than most. I would call ahead and make sure their kitchen is open. The shumai and wings were the best bites I had there. I did get a fried shrimp plate with Mac salad but it was just okay. read more

Great place to pick up lunch upcountry. They handled a ton of our class's orders with ease during the busy lunch rush hour. No place to really sit down; you order and take it to go. But the quality of the food is definitely worth the trip. I ordered a mushroom bacon burger and was not disappointed - juicy, flavorful, and well sized. Wish they would stay open longer for dinner, but other than that no real complaints I could think of. I'll be back with company. read more

All the bbq is epic. They always have good rice and the kimchi is ono. I keep going back. Their bbq kalbi mixed plate is one of the best on the island. Great portion size. I crave their bbq and wait for 430 on Saturday! It's a korean bbq and they really have their flavors down. The other pickeled items are exicuted well but I'm not a fan of the flavor profile of some of them... they give 2 choices for a plate and have a lot of verity. But I cant leave da kimchi! We got a mushroom burger and Katsu & BBQ chicken plate. The mushroom burger was one of the best burgers we have eaten in a long time and will be definitely be going back! The katsu was the perfect amount of crisp and the sauce tasted great too. The reason I gave it a 4 star is the BBQ Chicken tasted good but it had a stringy texture we couldn't really push past when eating! I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND GETTING A BURGER AT THIS PLACE!!! read more

We came here for a bite to eat, I had a cheeseburger while my friend had a chicken katsu plate. I enjoyed my burger while my friend enjoyed the katsu plate. 5 stars for what this place is, a tiny little liquor store with a food counter that serves a whole range of delicious comfort foods. Be warned- this place is tiny and popular so you may have to wait a minute on your meal if you don't call ahead. Their prices are good, and their burger is THE BEST. I mean, this is a great burger. I HIGHLY recommend you get the bacon, mushroom cheeseburger and add pickled jalapeños. Their katsu is also really good. Often, not all menu items are not available, but don't worry- everything is good (seriously tho get the burger). The beer and liquor prices are the best around and I think any of the reviews suggesting the owner was in any way rude must have been some type of misunderstanding, because she is SO sweet. The customer service is above and beyond- honestly I love this place so much I add a tip when I buy beer. I hope this place stays around forever- our favorite comfort food for sure. read more

This is the place I go if I don't feel like making dinner and I really want something cheap and good. It isn't the most professionally made food, but it offers local style food and very tasty anyways. I love the breaded teriyaki and the hamburgers are good too. For side the mayo potatoes and mac salad are the best.. It's best you make orders via phone, or you'll have to wait inside the store or in your car. The food is good, and most of the staff are real cool. I rate them 1 star due solely to the attitude of the older woman who claims to be the owner. She tried to overcharge me $2 for a 12-pack. When I pointed out the price on the cooler door, she said I misread the product price, and then insinuated that I was illiterate. When I insisted that I had read the label & price correctly, she stormed over to the cooler and ripped off the price sticker, claiming that her staff was incompetent & forgot to change the prices. I then switched out the 12-pk for a 6-er. I handed her my $, she asked if 6 was all I wanted, and I said that I wanted 12, but the price wasn't right. She then said that she didn't want to sell to me anymore, yet held my cash back & out of my reach. I demanded my money back, she reluctantly returned it, & I left the store. This was their response: "I apologize for the inconvenience on behalf of the owner and staff. But with all due respect to better explain the situation we are required to do our best to change prices ( which they due quite frequently change due to the change with our liquor company's prices) sometimes we tape the noted prices on to the glass and sometimes forget to remove them being that there are tags. My bosses intentions were not to rip you off but simply explain the situation. We apologize again for the confusion and to what you felt and noting that it was not our intention to rip you off." First of all, the phrase - "with all due respect," implies the opposite; that you don't really respect the other person. Second of all, an apology on someone else's behalf doesn't help. Finally, the price wasn't the real issue. Liquor Shack was still 50 cents cheaper than Minit Stop. The issue was the disrespect. I loved your food, and I'm going to miss it. Aloha. read more

Hambuggah, hambuggah, hambuggah...best on the Valley Isle! Yes, that's a Wimpy reference (his favorite food) for old school Popeye cartoon fans. Made to order, these babies are hand-shaped awesomeness any way you like 'em. Can't beat this place for big burgers, big taste and a terrific price you won't even find at fast food. With Archie's closing it took some time to find a location with good breaded teriyaki. And I must say this location has it down :) Decent takeout menu plate lunch style with a homemade cheeseburger which is a must... Parking is small so if you can make a phone order to avoid parking and long lines do so. Building does need major updating but what would you expect from a old school liquor store... Not a sit-down restaurant, just simple no frills food. Tasty, inexpensive, fresh, and still cooked quickly. The people that work there embody the aloha spirit as well! Tried to call our order in but phone line was busy, so I drove up from my dads house to get Plate lunches. I use to come here all the time after school for the French fries because literally hands down there the best. This time we ordered BBQ chicken, hamburger steak, and fried chicken.
