We just did a quick take out for pizza. What a great crust ~ NY/NJ. Delicious Serpico special with pepperoni, Italian sausage, onions and peppers. We ordered a medium, but it was Huge. This pizza was terrific. House salad with balsamic vinaigrette was fresh and generous. Staff was very friendly. Just glad we didn't eat it because it was Hot. With all the recent storms with surges and power outages, I suspect the AC was knocked out. We've eaten here on several occasions and always had tasty meals. I'm officially giving this place 0 stars. What a huge disappointment. We came in on a quiet Monday afternoon, and we were the only customers in the restaurant. No one greeted us--we were simply told to find our own seat. An older woman was busy making bread while two other employees were occupied with kitchen tasks. After sitting for more than five minutes, the older woman finally brought us menus. She asked what I wanted to drink, and when I said Coke, she scolded me because they only serve Pepsi products. How was I supposed to know that? Instead of bringing our drinks or taking our order, she went right back to making bread. We continued to sit there... no drinks, no one checking on us, and no one taking our order. After waiting even longer with absolutely no service, we got up and walked out. In the end, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We went to a more well-known flatbread restaurant in Paia instead, and the food was absolutely incredible. We Love their pizzas. Amazing burgers too. We usually get the Serpicos special pizza (like a supreme). But tonight it's an onion mushroom burger and a calamari appetizer. Ordered online and picked it up about 30 min later. For order pick up/take out, there's a window on the Kahului side of the building. I'm assuming the burger was great because my husband inhaled it. I had what seems to be the worst experience ordering a pizza 1.3 miles outside of my house. I ordered at 7:03 PM just wanting a large pizza extra cheese. Total comes to $41 and change. They say it's going to be about 40-45 minutes. I set an alarm for 35mins. First 10 minutes goes by nothing. understandable at first. another 10 minutes goes by still nothing. another 10 nothing. an extra 40 minutes now goes by still nothing. finally after an hour and a half my pizza comes to the door by a gentleman. I give him my card, and the guy just lets out a big sigh, saying he doesn't have a card reader. Frustrated he gives me my food and he walks to the front to run the card by calling the business doing a manual entry. He then gives me my card back and I say thank you and I walk back to my house moments later, he comes back saying that he gave me the wrong receipt. I looked down and sure enough he gave me the wrong receipt. I tell him I don't need a receipt and he walks down the length of my driveway, which is roughly around 90 feet. I opened up the pizza and noticed that it's the completely wrong pizza. I pack it up and run out the door so he doesn't takeoff and I tell him you got another pizza in there because this is the wrong pizza. He told me no and that he would be back. But at this point, I just called the restaurant and asked for my money back. I got $25 out of the $41.57 that I spent because I decided to keep the fries because I wanted to at least eat something. By the time I opened them, they were stone cold and tough as nails. So I frustratingly got stiffed $16 for cold ass fries. Needless to say, I'm never going back there. I should've got my full amount back, but I enjoy family home-based businesses and wanted to give them my business. And as I write this review the gentleman came back with the right pizza At 9:00PM. And while I appreciate the effort, The pizza was over cooked, Burned and had black burn spots in the cheese because they put the pizza back in the oven so it wouldn't arrive back here cold. I have a picture of the pizza, but I guess you can't upload pictures to yelp.I probably could have chewed through cardboard with less effort. Sorry you guys were apparently slammed but you could have handled it better and definitely refunded my money in full. read more

This is our late night go to place in Upcountry Pukalani. They serve big portions of pasta! They also have delicious Jersey Style Pizza and other entrees. The service is friendly and fast. They are hard workers and helpful. It's casual and great for after sports events to go to for dinner. You can dine in or take out. It's also a good place for a quick lunch. They usually have a lunch special with 2 slices of pizza. read more

Great place to stop by on the way from Haleakala . Service was great, pizza tasted awesome as well. I loved how crispy the crust was. My kids loved to watch the guy make the pizza, he was very talented at spinning the dough. I would love to see just a little bit more toppings but it was still well balanced pizza. We really enjoyed a late lunch here last week. Our server was very friendly and quick. The menu is huge and makes it hard to decide what to get. The chicken broccoli fettuccini was great and came with salad and focaccia bread, as did the salmon and veggie pasta. Great big portions and great flavors. Note that sodas are just cans with ice cup. Please change your tomato sauce back to the dark red marinara it was . What you serve now is only half as good as what it used to be. Now its an orange sauce that could be a V-8 juice. Everything else about your restaurant is very good but since you make Italian food, the tomato sauce is part of the signature and you seem to have changed the recipe . Your servers, your cooks, your dining area, and even your bathroom are all above average in quality. I pay more for the original sauce. read more

Pizza was solid. It was pretty big for a medium sized. It's also a thin crust pizza which is my favorite kind. The restaurant is a little older and in an older building. And there's a takeout window or you have a choice to dine-in. We ordered a "Serpico's Special" with no mushrooms. Service was quick and our server was very attentive. Last night however, I ordered their pesto pizza and they charged a whopping $7 extra to add chicken to a large pizza. I assumed it would be a substantial amount considering the outrageous price for a topping but it was a few small pieces. We stopped into Serpico's Pizzeria late on a Saturday night with a group of six, there's a small parking lot that is shared and when we got inside there was only one other table of guests. I will say that I saw countless pick up orders throughout our visit- this was was really busy even though it was almost empty inside. We started with cheese sticks, they were good but our meals were 10 times better. We tried three different pastas (alfredo, spaghetti and red meat sauce) the portions are huge and enough to share between two people. We also ordered a pork pizza, again- the size was big and easily shared between two or three people. We also ordered a steak Caesar salad, was it enough for a meal? Maybe, but it helped having an app and some pizza to share. Service was great and the vibes were open and carefree- no rushing here and don't worry about over staying your welcome, everyone was friendly! read more

The food is excellent in the vast majority of cases. However, I ordered online for pick up. Imagine my surprise when I was presented to Bill that showed 25% more across the board for every item that I ordered for takeout. Apparently they raised the prices, but did not update their website menus. That still bothers me. A 25% price increase puts most of their menu items out of my range, although I grudgingly paid it. I had been working all day, too tired to cook my own dinner, looked forward to my purchase at Serpico's. I will think long and hard about whether or not I continue my patronage, having eaten from their menu on many many occasions over the last 20 years. read more

Lovely, small town pizzeria with a long standing in the community. Friendly service as usual. Breadsticks were new (to me) but crispy-soft and seved with marinara. It was an off night for the pasta, as the rigatoni was overcooked but the sauce was amazingly cheesy and was lipsmaking good. It will be a good breakfast scrambled with egg and fried. Chicken on my chicken caesar was excellently seasoned and *generously* portioned. I could have easily split it with my date. I should have asked for extra dressing. I ate all the greens and we threw the remaining chicken onto his rigatoni. We ordered their appetizer wings and they arrived breaded so they looked huge to me. The bbq sauce was delicious. We came here twice in a row. First night was a takeout order after the sunset view at the Haleakala summit. Our condo was on the west side of the island, so it took an hour after getting our food before eating them. We ordered the chicken parm, and the pepperoni calzone, and caesar salad. All were delicious, especially the caesar salsa. We couldn't understand why the average rating on yelp was only 3.9 stars. It was definitely 5 stars! We did the road to Hana the following day, and decided to dine in at this place considering our previous experience. However, we were disappointed as the dishes were all under-seasoned. We got the chicken parm again, and fettuccine alfredo, and kid's spaghetti with meatball. Chicken parm was the best of of three but lacked flavor compared to the takeout order from the previous night. And half the amount of chicken. Fettuccine was very bland. It is almost like the chef forgot to add salt and parm. The amount of salt i added to the dish was embarrassing if the chef saw me. The kid's spaghetti with meatball was decent, but the meatball was on the dry side and again lacked of salt. My son didn't like the meatball but loved the spaghetti. I would give it 3 stars for this dine-in experience. Service was great. My suggestion is to get the takeout order because the hour that took us to drive home probably enhanced the flavor of the chicken parm. Either that or the chef changed from Tuesday to Wednesday. Also, skip the fettuccine Alfredo unless you like milk flavored bland noodles. read more

You guys stopped caring...it's obvious! Look, I love the owners and the people here, but the food is just not good! For years we have been trying and trying to give them more chances but every time we do, they fail. They need a full-on new recipe playbook from pizza (horrible sauce, cheese, etc) to the salads which are also horrible, to everything. Bottom line is I am a home cook and everything I make is at least 100 times better than their food. Pizza can be tricky, but they have had enough time to figure this out, so figure this out. Salads are easy, you just need very fresh, good ingredients, simple dressing like top notch olive oil, balsamic vinegar, etc. On island we have access to lilikoi too, so use your imagination. Pizza needs great crust (doesn't matter which coast you want to call it, West, East or in between!), great sauce, great cheese...the rest will fall into place if the ingredients are fresh. Pasta is all about the sauce too! And of course, meatballs etc are all about the quality of the meat. AND, one more ingredient I think they have lost, LOVE. All of my food has love and people notice this. If you are no longer passionate about your food and cooking, it will be horrible. So Let's repeat: 1. Ingredients need to be top notch and fresh 2. Your crust is terrible and needs to have a revamped recipe 3. Your sauce is horrible and needs a new recipe 4. Your cheese tastes fake, you need a new supplier 5. If you are going to serve meat, serve only the best and it needs to be fresh! 6. Salads are simple but REQUIRE fresh, top of the line ingredients A few other things to note. The plastic cups and plastic dishes all need to go. That is so 1980's! Get better silverware that doesn't hurt your hands when you use it. Update your place and clean things up. This could be done in one day and it would not cost a lot at all. Simple, obvious fixes you need to make to increase your business, bring back lost customers and frankly I think at this point to survive. The pizza truck up by longs and Marlow's are already taking over. Personally, I won't go to Marlow's but the truck...yum! Signed, We care and you should too! read more

Perfect place to go after a visit to Haleakala sunset. The place was quiet when we first entered, but got full really quick, and their take out window was constantly busy. We ordered a 30 inch pizza (that would have been enough for all four of us), it was perfectly baked! The crust was crunchy, not too thin, not too thick. Toppings were great too (pepperoni, mushroom, sausage, peppers). Cesar salad was delicious. Calamari was ok. Lasagna was delicious too! Would recommend this place if you're ever upcountry. read more

I was craving good old fashioned spaghetti but didn't want to drive down to Marco's. I've had serpico's pizza before and it was excellent so I decided to give their pasta a go. You can usually judge an Italian restaurant by their basic spaghetti and meatballs and Serpicos didn't disappoint. Pasta cooked just right. Gravy was sweet but not too tangy. And the two giant meatballs were perfectly cooked. All come with a side Caesar or tossed salad and focaccia bread. They're known for their pizza but the pasta is to die for. My boyfriend ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was not crispy but this may be more of an area Hawaiian tradition? It was cooked more like ham, he said the taste was good. One of the best places on Maui for pizza! Good entrees and sandwiches too. My preferred pizza has a thin, crisp crust, not much sauce and cheese, cheese, cheese! Yes, I was officially, a Cheesehead - having moved to Maui from the far North Chicago suburbs (which happen to be in Wisconsin). The 2 things every town in the Upper Midwest seems to have is at least 1 pizza shop and 1 Mexican restaurant. So we've eaten just ALL the pizza on Maui's and Serpico's is our favorite. The former favorite used to be Prison Stree Pizza in Lahaina (same owners as Serpico's). Great pizza! read more

Oh so good! I've gone five times. It was my first time here, I had the meatballs and spaghetti with a side Cesar salad. I took the Cesar salad only because the owner walked up to me and my friend from Zumba and told us his grandma made this homemade recipe, and this is what he uses. This was back maybe 2009. Since then, I've been back only four more times and never seems to amaze me how good their pizzas tasted and the salad. The only thing is I've become older, the music is just to loud to talk stories with the family of more than a party of four but then I found it hard to talk stories with a party of three. Maybe I'll opt for takeout. Only thing, by the time I reach down to Kahului and onto my dinner table, condensation will happen and colder pizza or burger and fires. read more

July 30 - the entire Pacific Rim is on tsunami alert. All of the Hawaiian islands are evacuating to higher ground. 100s of thousands are displaced. We arrive at Serpico's at 935pm, hungry and scared. My son and diabetic father need to eat... Girl at takeout window tells us the kitchen is closed, even though the sign says last take out order at 945pm. Explain our situation, ask to be the last order, told "no." Then she takes an order from another couple for a desert. As we walk out other families are heading in looking for service, doubt they got it. Way to go Serpico's. read more
