Went to Lira for happy hour for the 2nd time yesterday. Beautiful turquoise leather chairs inside. They looked even prettier in the summer when there's sunlight outside. Instead of a printed menu, we had to scan a QR code to view their tap list this time. I liked their cider (#11), which had a hint of mango. I took a sip of my husband's Brett beer (#9). I didn't usually like beer, but this one was different, it was more like a wine than beer. Very interesting profile. We ordered 4 food items off the happy hour menu to share. The Brussel sprouts with bacon was well seasoned, not bitter at all. It would be even better if the edges were crispy. The empanada had a pretty presentation, the outside was crispy and the fillings had a kick to it. Nicely done. The crab toast was kind of small, but delicious. Very well balanced with the spicy empanada. The burger was just ok this time; maybe because it was cold already when I ate it. My husband had it while it was still warm, and he said it was just as good as last time. The main reason we came back was to try their "Death by Chocolate" dessert. We were too full to try it last time. However, we didn't see it on the menu anymore. Our server was new and didn't know anything about it. So, we just ordered the only chocolate item on the Sweets menu. What a let down!! The small chocolate cake was dry, the mousse wasn't aerated at all, the crystallized chocolate soil and berries gel were non-existent, just some small strawberry pieces. Our daughter could make a better chocolate cake at home. For $22, we were expecting something more refined. While the happy hour part was a solid 4 star, I would give the dessert 2 stars at the most. Overall, I would just give them 3 stars.
Lira manages to be both classy and chill and inviting at the same time. There is a very long bar--perfect for Happy Hour drinks and appetizers, meeting new friends, or just sitting solo and having a glass of wine and a Wagyu burger while responding to email on your laptop. The owner and staff are both eager to make sure you are having a good time and being taken care of well. There are also some very good mocktails!
I was hyped to try this spot based on the pictures. It ended up being a mediocre visit. The waiter was friendly but kept forgetting us and forgot our drinks order as well. There were only a couple of other tables which were taken so not sure what was going on. He said the go-to item was the wagyu burger, which was good except for the bacon, which was hard and chewy. The emapanda was just OK. I am sure the lack of attention from the waiter impacted our view of the food as well.
We decided to check this place out after the host invited us in! My friends and I had other reservations booked but wanted to try a couple of dishes here. The interior was beautifully decorated, and it's perfect for a date night. Service was professional and food came out fast. Salmon Crudo - This was delightful and probably my favorite dish of the night. Citrus, light yet sweet. It includes ginger habanero syrup, citrus segments, radish, red beet gel, yuzu bubbles. Presentation was 10/10 Asparagus with leek pesto - Well made. Pesto went well with it. Lobster mushroom pasta - creamy, umami from the mushroom, lobster flavor was incorporated well with the sauce. The selection of trumpet pasta was ideal, allowing the sauce to explode with flavor in every mouthful.
We came here for happy hour today and had a nice lunch from the happy hour items. We liked the large window of time allotted for happy hour and the menu while somewhat limited, it was more than enough to make a nice meal for two. We had the Brussels, ricotta cheese with toast, steak bites, and the wagyu burger. We had especially liked the sprouts and burger, both very flavorful and rich. Good portions to share. The ricotta cheese went quite well with the spicy/hot honey they brought with it. The pieces of bread were a little bit too charred, but otherwise it was nice with a generous amount of ricotta cheese. The steak bites were a nice piece of meat cut three ways with some chimichurri sauce. The meat itself was lean, but because it was so lean, a little less tender than ideal. Probably the cut of meat and thickness, as it was cooked well. Service was efficient and the place was classily decorated. A really nice selection of beer for $5/glass. We'd come here again to try the other dishes, as well as likely order the burger and sprouts.
Food was fine, flavor felt basic new American- nothing mind blowing but decent. Which made the price tag kind of steep. Plating was pretty and restaurant vibes were nice. Favorite dish was the mushroom morels- presentation was pretty and a fun dish all around. Didn't not care for the salmon crudo-flavors didn't mesh.
Wow! Everything was so good here and the service was amazing too. The owner took the time to explain to us the inspiration behind the dishes and that really made the restaurant super inviting. We started with the crab crostini and the Brussels sprouts. The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. The Lira in Wonderland was also SO good. It had a crown of cotton candy and was a mix of biscoff cookies, dehydrated red velvet cake (don't knock it till you try it), butterscotch sauce, and strawberries. I was honestly blown away by this meal.
One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Halfway through dinner, I was so disappointed that I made a reservation at another restaurant on the same street so we could leave and actually enjoy a meal. There were no carbs available. Everything we asked for was either sold out or required extra effort to get--like begging the server to ask the chef for two small, dry pieces of toast, which cost $5 per plate. After repeatedly asking, the server finally said she'd check with the chef about bringing us more toasts. Seriously? We had reserved a table indoors, but were seated outside. Some of us had dressed for indoor seating and were freezing, even with a heater nearby. Gnocchi? Sold out. Cocktails? Sold out. A second order of the mushroom dish? Also sold out. Bread? "We need to check with the chef." (Also not complimentary.) Fish dish has a yellow sauce which is sour and does not tasted good. The salad was terrible--raw napa cabbage soaked in red oil. Completely unappetizing. We couldn't even enjoy more wine because there was no substantial food left to order. After paying over $90+ per person, we had to walk to another restaurant just to eat again. This place is not a Michelin-starred restaurant where you expect small portions or an a la carte concept. The quality was uneven, the service poor, and the overall value extremely low. Never again. Total frustration from start to finish. 1 star for nice environment 1 star for bring all dishes we ordered.
Oh my, recent reviews have been less than stellar compared to the ones when Lira first opened...and it's only been a couple of months! I only found out the previous chef parted ways with this restaurant courtesy of another Yelp review. There's also a whole reddit post about it too. I was so excited to check out Lira, but I guess I came a couple weeks too late. We decided to come for Father's Day. The restaurant was much smaller than I thought, but it was still decorated nicely. There's a decent amount of outdoor seating though! Service was painfully slow and it didn't help that our server, bless his soul, was a bit aloof. He took the orders for our starters and then never came back to ask what we wanted for our mains until we flagged him down. Between the apps and large plates, there must have been about a 30 minute wait. Additionally, when our entrees finally started arriving, they came out one at a time and one person in our party was awkwardly left without food for quite a while. We ordered a couple small plates to share, but be warned, they truly are small and good for a couple bites at most for a group of 6. The stuffed morels ($35) and mussels ($35) are insanely pricey for the portion size! The stuffed morels are interesting and it's more of a fried tempura-esque dish compared to a traditional salad. The mussels came in a nice, flavorful broth but only accompanied with 4 pieces of burnt bread. I think more bread was needed to soak up the liquids. I ordered the gnocchetti ($35) and while the gnocchi itself was soft and pillowy, I got a little bored of the dish a few bites in. I nibbled on my fiancé's halibut dish ($60), and found that the roasted tomatoes were a bit cold compared to the rest of the dish. The sauce the fish came in was light and citrusy, but the fish itself was a tad overcooked imo. I had been interested in dessert, but given the crazy amount of time it took to get our plates and how slow service was, I decided to forego it. Lira, I had such high hopes for you...but unfortunately, will not be back.
I wish I could have come here before the head chef parted ways. I am not sure if the service would have been better, it was incredible slow. Most "fine dining" brings all entrees out at the same time. Since we like to wait for all people to have food before eating it took about 5-10 mins for everybody to get food. The orders for entrees did not happen until we had gotten our appetizers and we had to ask the waiter to take our order. The food quality was hit or miss. My halibut was a bit tough. The scallops and gnocchette were quite good. The portion sizes of the little plates were quite small for the price you pay.
It's a new place and we wanted to try it for our girls night out con birthday celebrations. Food is disappointing in portion and not consistent in quality, service is great and the decoration is nice. We booked table for 9 with standard seating at 8pm on a Friday night. When 5 of us arrived on time, they didn't have a table ready for us. To compensate, we were offered their signature drink Bells, Berries & Harmoney while we waited at the bar table. When the table was ready, they seated us outside. One of the owner came by to offer indoor seating if we waited 45 minutes. The long table we got was Instagram-able with green walls and had heat lamps on the top, so we were ok unless it was windy. But 45 minutes passed by and nobody came and asked if we wanted to move... On the other hand, our waitress Taizia was great! She took care of us, checked on us, helped us take pictures, even asked the kitchen to make more bread for us. So now, onto the most disappointing part, the food. When all guests arrived, we were told that the cocktail that some of us were drinking was sold out. Huh? How can you even have cocktails sold out? Anyhow, so we ordered a few appetizers and pretty much all the entrees to share. The sizes were pathetically small given the price they charged. And Gnocchetti was sold out. How can you have pasta sold out?! You can't substitute with some other pasta? We asked if there's table bread, nope. We asked if we can get bread, nope, also sold out! We were so disappointed that Taizia went to check with the kitchen and came back with the news that the kitchen was able to make some more for us. It's literally grilled sourdough bread and a couple pieces we got were burned. And that, a plate with 2 pieces of bread costed $5! For appetizers and salad, we ordered Stuffed Morels ($35), it was good but too little portions for 9 to share. Burrata Peach Salad ($25) was a disaster. It was the first dish to come and the raw napa was super salty and the burrata cheeseball was like adding more salt to the salty veggie. The peach slices did not manage to balance it out. The Bone Marrow Beef Tartare ($45) was another disappointment. There was no bone marrow, it was only beef tartare and it was mixed with so much pickled ramps but not enough moist quail yolk that the whole thing just tasted salty. It came with grilled Manresa sourdough bread but with only 2 slices, we couldn't divide among 9 of us. This is where a good host would offer more bread, but nope, nothing happened. Onto the entrees. The Halibut ($60) was soft but the sauce did not please everyone. Some found it too sour and the roasted cherry tomato did not elevate the sauce. The Scallop and Octopus ($60) was ok, but the ration I got was 1/4 of a scallop and half an octopus leg only. Spiced Lamb ($60) was good, I love how it was cooked to perfection with a pink middle and I got 1 slice cut. The Pork Chop ($50) got everyone's vote as it was soft and flavorful and it was enough that each of us got 1 full piece (as it was already pre-cut). I was surprised to find out we ordered Duck Breast ($45) afterwards as I did not even get to try it. Corkage fee was $25, which was reasonable and there's no cut or plate fee for BYO birthday cake. Since it's a birthday celebration, the early arriving birthday girl got a signed card from the chef. The other birthday girl got nothing as the chef had already left and there were no more cards. Even cards could run out is beyond my imagination! How hard is it to sign a stack of them and just leave it to the host? I think the restaurant has the potential to make it better as there are some good dishes and the service was nice; but they have to figure out the supply situation. We were thinking of ordering more, but the disappointment of running out overwhelmed us like a tide washing over again and again, so with an hour in, we were already planning to go to another restaurant to get stuffed up. None of us girls left with even half a full stomach, and we don't even eat that much.
I want to start by saying I think this place has potential and I really wanted to like it. The place is really cute and they have indoor and outdoor seating. The disappointing thing here is they seem like they overcommitted with guests and so the wait times were long. I appreciate the people coming around to apologize, but the reason this gets a lower rating is because I understand the rush--coming from a restaurant industry previously--however the rush died by the time our food came out and our food was barely hot. And by the time we got it after the wait, we were hungry and just ready to move on. The food itself had really nice flavors, I just wish it was hot. The first whiskey sour was also really good. But the second one we had was mid. So I wish consistency was also a thing. Thyme and blood was good.
I was looking forward to coming to Lira after reading a review from my fellow Yelper! I mistakenly thought the menu would be the same as dinner menu during the day time on Sunday so I was a bit disappointed to find the brunch menu completely different from the dinner menu which was not updated on their website. We ordered the uber mochi waffles & fried chicken and the Italian steak sando. Uber mochi waffles & fried chicken $25 (2.5 stars) - the fried chicken portion was tiny compared to overall dish and the chicken batter could have been more crispy in my opinion. The sweet sauce on the chicken was a bit more on the sweeter side which made the ube waffle taste overpoweringly sweet. The ube mochi waffle was ordinary. I wouldn't order this again. Italian steak sando $28 (4.5 stars) - the steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare and tender. Ciabatta was light and airy. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would like to come back for dinner to try their scallop, filet mignon and Dubai cheese cake!
The new restaurant popped up on Yelp and had to check out! Located in downtown Campbell which is not too far away. Arrived a little early at 6:50pm for a 7pm appt. Found it strange the hostess said many people were ahead of us and we might need to be seated at 7:15 or so and said we can wait at the bar. I decided to walk around outside instead until 7pm where i walked in again and the hostess said she could seat is right away. Interior is well decorated, simple, glowing marble bar, fun atmosphere with house music bumping. Not alot of space between tables, all space is taken up. Waitress recommended 2-3 small and 2-3 large for 2 people since they are "tapas". I dunno if it's bc im a small girl but 2 small and 2 large would have been perfect, we got 2 small and 3 large. I got full at 2nd large when we had another large to go. They are small but a decent serving for 2 people. The carrot beet salad was so good, the butternut puree lick the plate yummy. The bone marrow was good as well, nice little sauce flavoring drops and love the bread with it. The scallops were very good very buttery and filling. I started getting full here. The beef brisket was so soft and mash potato delicious as well, most classic taste. Stand out was duck with farro, perfectly cooked, tastes lean with fresh salad pairing, brisket was more heavy tasting but more filling. I got the first cocktail on the menu it was very smoky and unique. Fruity but very strong, bf's whiskey was very strong. Got bottled Voss still water. Dessert was so full but bf wanted to try everything so got Olive oil cake and Dubai chocolate cheesecake. The Olive oil cake is light and delicious, the dubai chocolate cheesecake was delectable!! Overall the flavors were so unique and bold, waiter did seem to push more sales but it's their job. They have their Spring menu coming out in 2 weeks so menu will be changing. I would come back to try more things! read more

Absolutely loved my experience at Lira ! Their alcoholic cocktails are next level perfectly crafted and full of flavor. The bartenders are true artists, super friendly and skilled. The food? Delicious! Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Top-notch service, stylish ambiance -I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! read more
Dinner for 2. - Ambiance (5*) Beautiful interior, great light fixtures. The tables are perhaps a little too close together, but all in all, a really elegant vibe. - Service (3*) Inconsistent is the best way to describe it. Our primary waiter and one of the waitresses who brought out 3 of our dishes were very polished and minimalistic- that is, they gave great service, described dishes, but were mostly not noticed. Then there were two other servers who took on the other end of the spectrum. One collected our plates (loudly), clanging silverware on dishes, and then asked what we ordered, quipping the short rib was indeed her favorite. It was the type of dialogue we might have expected at a more laidback restaurant. The other kept coming by to refill water, but rather than simply refill my glass, she would interrupt my conversation and ask, "do you want more water"? Whoever is training the waitstaff might want to impose a more consistent standard- are they going for the upscale vibe, or are they going for a more casual feel? Our first three dishes came on fast, but then there were noticeable gaps before the fourth dish and before dessert. - Bone Marrow, $28 (3*) EXQUISITELY PLATED. Bread was toasted perfectly. Great vehicle for the marrow. Slight too dainty with the accompaniments though. Not enough crispy shallots, not enough black olive puree. Each of those things was great, but because there wasn't enough of it, we ended up with kind of one-note marrow in the majority of bites. - Salmon Crudo, $39 (3*) EXQUISITELY PLATED. The salmon was rolled in a really cool way. Couldn't figure out how the chef did it, but it was beautiful. I was almost reluctant to cut into it. This plate had the reverse problem of the marrow; there was a huge amount of the miso sauce- great for artistry but not for taste. The salmon itself also was kind of bereft of flavor. It was a kind of an odd dish. - Ricotta Gnocchi, $30 (3*) The gnocchi were so, so good on their own. Each cloud melted in my mouth. Haven't had good gnocchi like that in forever. The spice from the black pepper kind of overpowered the dish, and then strangely there were little pops of sour that kept coming back. To my surprise, the guanciale was the culprit- yet, I'm not familiar with guanciale as a sour note. Guanciale is usually salty and savory? It ruined what was otherwise a magical star ingredient. - Akaushi Wagyu Short Rib, $65 (3*) The truffle polenta lacked truffle flavor. The bleu cheese was muted. The short rib while outwardly tender was actually a little stringy in the middle. Most of the time when short rib is stringy, I think it's due to insufficient cooking time at low enough temperature. - Dubai Cheesecake, $20 (4*) EXQUISITELY PLATED. Absolutely gorgeous presentation. Not too sweet, my wife said, "the ultimate Asian compliment". And indeed, I appreciated that aspect. It was overall a very good dessert, but as was the case with the gnocchi, there was some odd bitter flavor coming from the dish that ended up being the cream. A bit strange. It didn't ruin the dessert for me, as I ate most bites alone. - Value (2*) Many of the items are really small relative to the price. This would normally be ok at a restaurant of this type, but the execution left something to be desired. - Final Word We live right next to downtown, and I was ecstatic to see a restaurant like this enter downtown Campbell. It's what Campbell needs to continue "maturing". I welcome more spots like this. The dishes are all IG worthy, no doubt about it. But, I'm not sure I truly enjoyed any of the dishes, and isn't that what food is really about? read more

Went back today for the new Happy hour lunch special 10/10 Grabbed a $5 pint, the burger the crab toast and the Brussels sprouts. The Crab is creamy, fresh, and rich on a nice slice of toast. Great start. The Brussel Sprouts come with or without bacon (I'm a bacon fan for sure) the classic pairing was what you'd hope for and beyond. The Cesar dressing it comes with was rich and tangy, very enjoyable appetizer. The star of the show: The Mini Wagyu burger! I was smiling the whole time eating it. Undersell and over deliver. I thought it was very normal burger size but maybe they say mini because some restaurants make giant burgers. The sauce was amazing, meat cooked perfect, bacon was executed perfectly. 10/10 perfect burger. Great ambiance, slower during lunch time which meant 10/10 service from at the bar! I'll be back a few times in August to hit the happy hour menu!! read more
My wife and I went to Lira for our anniversary. They pre-printed Happy Anniversary on the menu. + The owner came and greeted us. + The owner enthusiastically consulted thoughtfully on food choices. + The waiter was kind and polite. + The happy hour margarita was delish and only $10. + It was dark, so we asked for a table lamp and they brought. + The music was a little loud and they adjusted happily. + The restaurant had 4 people working the front. + We ordered the apple salad, the mushroom pasta, and the halibut. All were uniuqe in presentation, texture, and taste. + + + Prices were reasonable for quality high-food. Great addition to the Campbell downtown. Try it! read more

Had a really fun time here for dinner the other night. The debut restaurant of 'Next Level Chef'' Tucker Ricchio, Lira is such a great addition to the downtown Campbell food scene. Vibe is fine dining, but with a fun & welcoming twist - perfect for what my husband and I were looking for. We're not a big fan of the prim & proper fine dining scene. A big factor in the "fun" twist was that they had upbeat, House type music playing in the background. The music made the atmosphere very lively, a great contrast and taking the edge off the otherwise elegant fine dining decor. Service is great. Friendly, professional, and energetic. We ordered the following: - Ricotta Gnocchi Carbonara: definition of pillowy gnocchi, so good and light. Had a pretty strong lemon taste, surprising, but went so well with the ricotta. - Filet minion with uni: ponzu / citrus taste came through pretty strongly, again, in a good way! Great offset to the richness of the dish. Miso whipped potatoes were also excellent. - Salmon crudo with togarashi and cilantro salad: first of all, presentation has to get high marks. I haven't had a crudo served in this manner before, much less salmon dusted with charcoal! Also, as a cilantro lover, I LOVED the salad and thought it went so well with the salmon. - Bone marrow appetizer: delicious, and made so well. I personally would have preferred a slightly more savory taste with less grilled shallots, but no real complaint. - Root salad: beautiful plating. There is a slight ginger taste to the whole dish (I don't love ginger), but it wasn't overpowering so I could still enjoy the dish. - Chocolate flambé desert: I was told that this was the dessert where the chef herself would come out to flambé (if available), and I was not disappointed! Chef Ricchio herself came out, and she is so warm and welcoming - another highlight of the meal! Dessert itself was also delicious. Light chocolate and raspberry jam. Next time I come, I want to try the pork belly, short ribs, and Dubai cheesecake. Highly recommend this restaurant for a special night out. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

A great place to celebrate! Food was "elevated" and more than edging on fine dining. Really exquisite. Highly recommend the Caesar Brussels Sprout, the Salmon Crudo, the Ousters (which come garnished with a cilantro pearl), and the scallops on hummus. The staff was also incredibly friendly! read more
Was the food good? Yes, generally. However, the portions are tiny, and everything is incredibly overpriced. The restaurant itself is pretty on the inside, but the tables are very close together making it feel super cramped. The scallops were delicious, but they were $55. The gnocchi was just ok, and was still $30. The filet w uni was over $100!!! Insane. Would be 4 stars if they didn't price gouge you. Nothing special with zero value proposition. read more

Had a great experience at the bar here on a Sunday night . The place is modern and warm, Kyle at the bar was attentive and personable. He made sure we had a nice time with our choices of drinks/ wines/food. Food: Soft pretzel: amazing beer cheese sauce, pretzel is soft, light, savory salted. Highly recommended. Brussels sprouts: perfectly roasted with crispy bacon crisps. One of the best I had. Short rib pasta: the meat was tender, flavorful with perfect spices over pasta al dente. Scallops over hummus: love the crispy garbanzo beans and Casper over the house made humus. Dessert; Dubai cheesecake: the rose water moose and the crusted pistachio is a nice touch to the cheesecake coated chocolate. Highly recommended. Everything from food, to the warm of everyone from the chef and the owner, made it an amazing experience. Would definitely be back to try different dishes. Highly recommend. Thank you. read more
took my clients to Lira in Campbell, and we were absolutely blown away! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. We started with the crab crostinis and salmon crudo to share -- both beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. For my entrée, I had the Wagyu burger, and honestly, it was one of the best burgers I've ever had -- perfectly cooked, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. Dessert was truly something special -- we ordered the Dubai Cheesecake and the whimsical Lira in Wonderland, topped with cotton candy. Both were as stunning to look at as they were delicious to eat -- a perfect, memorable finale to an outstanding meal. The service was top-notch -- both the owner and our waiter went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. You can really feel the pride and passion behind this restaurant. Whether you're entertaining clients, going out for date night, or just looking for an incredible dining experience, Lira is a must-visit. I can't recommend it enough! read more
Vibe:4.7/5 Service: 5/5 Drinks: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Value: 4/5 First, kudos to the wonderful Chef Tucker for pulling together this remarkable place. It's chic but still has neighborhood vibes where both nicely dressed and casual folks fit right in. The moment you step in, you feel comfortable and at ease. If I had to nitpick, I would say that the bench seating along the wall is not the best. Although it's comfortable on the tush, there is no back, so depending on where you sit, you might either have a wall supporting your back or a widow sill poking you. Adding pillows can quickly fix that. The chef's care for community is reflected in her staff. You will see a diverse group of staff who are genuinely friendly and happy to be there (evidenced by their interactions with each other and non-stop smiles). As patrons, we benefitted from excellent service. Our server, Sam, was the best. He was professional yet warm; you can't help but like him. He gave us great recommendations, didn't try to upsell us, and was present when we needed him without hovering--just the best. Also, a shoutout to the Argentinian lady who was picking up/dropping off food; she was a delight. This might be a bit controversial, but to me, the highlight of this restaurant was its superb bar program. The level of mixology here is next level. You won't see presentation gimmicks but expect to be wowed by quality ingredients and bold flavors. My husband and I managed to power through 4 different cocktails (black martini, Szechuan old fashioned, clarified espresso martini, Caprese martini), and each was 5-star worthy. I was especially excited about the Caprese Martini. I love vodka drinks and savory flavors, but I don't like olives, so regular martinis are out of the question for me. This drink smelled exactly like basil/tomato/mozzarella, and the flavor was delicious and balanced. I was instantly in love and ended up ordering 2. Now to the food: Bone marrow (3/5): The presentation and flavors were there. I was impressed by the shallot gel, which played well with the pickled mustard seeds. However, I had to deduct 1 star because this was the smallest amount of bone marrow I've ever seen. As others pointed out, there was barely anything in the bone to scrape out, which was very disappointing considering the price. I hope they listen to the feedback and get some Flinstone bones. Scallops (4/5): There was no way I would not try the "Next Level Chef" dish, even though I am not an olive fan and am neutral on hummus. The scallops were cooked to perfection but had maybe a tad too much salt. The olives and hummus tasted very good together, but there was a lot of the plate, so I didn't finish. If you're hungry, this will get you full. Filet Mignon & Uni (5/5): wow, now that's a dish worth every penny. It's not just about the high-end ingredients but the preparation that made this dish a standout. Very few dare to cook a filet mignon with a bark (Richard Blais advised against it on NLC), but this steak was one of the best we've ever tasted. The large uni pieces were firm and sweet. But what blew my mind were the miso mashed potatoes. Holly fudge, the silky texture and out-of-this-world flavors almost had me licking my hubby's plate. Honestly, I would buy two if this was served as an a la carte side dish. Dubai cheesecake (4/5): Chef Tucker recommended this to us after coming out for a photo op (thanks again!). I prefer a little bit of texture to cheesecake, so the whipped, airy consistency wasn't my thing. But I loved the toasted nuts, the rose whipped cream, the sauce, and, of course, the presentation. Impeccable service! Super helpful! Chef Tucker herself came out to serve us! She is super fun! Love her energy and imagination! Small Bites: Bone Marrow. Gorgeous presentation! Love those edible flowers! Scrumptuous! Root Salad. Beets. Carrots. Squash purée! A repeater! Large Bites: Scallops. My favorite! Perfectly seared! Paired perfectly w/ exotic spices! Wow! Short Ribs. Lira was absolutely spectacular. I've been following the news of Lira & Chef Tucker since they announced the closing of Flights in 2024. I will be so honest when I say I did not watch the show Tucker Ricchio (head chef) was on, but I did read every article that was written & became very invested for this new location to open. We do not get fine dining experiences quite like this in San Jose / Campbell where several people have a dream & make it come to life. Campbell holds a special place in my heart & I was excited to see what Tucker was going to bring home. I was absolutely blown away by the renovations that took place for Lira. It's breathtaking. The decor is completely different, lighting is incredible, tables/ seating packages seat more people, table set up is simple yet elegant. The color scheme is so classy. Every little detail within Lira was so intentional! The Lira team is some of the best trained, happiest team members I have seen in a long time. The functionality in which they come together & service the floor is like a ballet. At one point we laughed too hard & the candle on our table went out, a server was there within 2 seconds with a lighter lighting in. Eyes are on every detail! Also, not one person seemed stressed; on a Saturday during opening season.. in a restaurant. I could see laughing, so many smiles, conversations, glee! & while on the floor, so poised, calm, cool, & collected. OBSESSED! Food wise, absolutely delicious. Tucker & her team are amazing. While we only tried 3 things (this time), they were some of the best items I've ever had. They had servers come out & explain what the dish was. I realize this what takes place in Michelin restaurants, but to see this level of detail take place in Campbell felt like we were getting a big hug. The best part of the dinner (& I do not know the % in which this happens, so please do go there expecting this or going for a picture moment) Tucker ended up coming to the table to say hello. My husband surprised me for my birthday with reservations for dinner. We have followed Chef Tucker since NLC and were both so excited to try her food. Five stars doesn't do justice! Ambiance, service & food were all phenomenal! Karina was our server and she was so attentive and helped give great suggestions. Everything was delicious, some highlights were starting with the roasted root salad. The carrot puree with it had the perfect spice combo. Entree faves were the brown butter hummus & seared scallops and the braised short rib. The components on the dishes paired so well. The short rib had black truffle polenta & blue cheese foam! Need I say more!! And the scallops were a dish Chef Tucker did on NLC & it's definitely clear why Chef Ramsey loves it! We couldn't decide so we went with two desserts. They were SO good! Enjoyed Saturday night dinner with my family to celebrate my dad's birthday. I mentioned my dad's birthday as well as having 2 kids in the party and was surprised that Lira not only has high chairs but also offers a kids menu! The manager called the day of our reservation to ask my dad's name and had customized menus printed up! What a thoughtful touch and lovely keepsake. They offered complimentary champagne for a birthday toast and overall were just so warm and accommodating. This restaurant is a wonderful special occasion spot. The ambiance and decor are gorgeous and the food is very good. It's also on a really cute stretch of downtown Campbell. I'd highly recommend it! read more

We came to Lira for a late lunch. Beautiful, romantic Lira with its New American fare & modern interior that combines exposed pipes & a marble bar with the softer touches of rain-drop lighting & seating a shade off from Tiffany blue. Their Happy Hour menu lists only seven items; the six dishes we tried (no oysters for us) left a lasting impression. We ordered: -- A cold & refreshing Radical Pineapple Cider ($5) that was easy drinking. -- Whipped Herb Ricotta ($10) with hot honey & pistachio, served with toasted ciabatta. Surprisingly, we agreed this was the standout dish. -- Caesar Fried Brussels ($10): its Aleppo Caesar dressing & tender texture made this my personal favorite. -- Crab Toast ($10): the only item we didn't finish. A bit fishy for me, just so-so in his opinion, plus I think its creaminess was overwhelming after all the other bites. -- Chicken Empanada ($10): Masienda corn flour which looked to be of the blue corn variety. Well-seasoned chicken. Would fit right in on an upscale Latin-American menu. -- Steak Bite with Chimichurri Demi ($12): three cubes of tender New York steak, not big enough to share. The chimichurri had an aggressive herby flavoring that wasn't to his liking. -- Mini Wagyu Burger ($12): different than other burgers we've had recently in the best way possible. Fried shallots, pickled jalapeños, & Russian dressing elevated the taste. Juicy patty with caramelized edges. We don't often find ourselves this far down south, but if Lira's dinner menu is a fraction as delicious as the abbreviated Happy Hour menu we experienced, consider us regulars. Thank you to our friendly server who remained available amidst several groups coming in at once. Please hire more staff to help because Lira's popularity is only going to skyrocket as word gets out about the exceptional flavors cooking in your kitchen. read more

My 1700th review saved for a special place. Exceptional new restaurant by talented local Next Level Chef winner with Michelin kitchen experience Chef Tucker. Fantastic food, beautiful dining room, and wonderful hospitality, 4.5 for now on its 7th day open but expect a full 5 stars after they hit their stride. Food: 5 Service: 4.5 Atmosphere: 5 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: yes! Highlights: - Hospitality: everyone from the owner to sommelier to chef were thrilled to have guests in. They knew it was my birthday and went the extra mile to make me feel special. Total opposite from when you note it in a reservation and it's not even mentioned. When there were a few hiccups they tried their best to make up for them which I appreciated feeling valued as a customer. - Chef: such a sweet, energetic, positive, gifted soul who lights up the room and is a joy to be around. Was kind enough to deliver my birthday dessert and chat with us. - Menu: delightful mix of standard fare you'd see but with twists. Eg, steak, pork, etc but with more interesting international flavors infused. - Scallops with hummus: perfectly cooked and so good with that smooth accompaniment of the hummus and crunch of the chickpeas. 5 stars - Duck: lots of tender sliced pieces of duck breast fanned with a fun mixture parallel to it of pomegranate, pine nuts, and apple. 5 stars - Pork belly: several hearty square chunks generously glazed in soy and topped with a fun combo of spicy chili and pickled kumquats. 5 stars - Root salad: lots of chopped off carrots sticking up like in the ground was whimsical. Had lots of flavors including beets and carrot puree and bee pollen and pecan chocolate soil. Reminiscent of Dominique Crenn. 5 stars - Dubai cheesecake: stunning presentation of a chocolate ganache oblong edible gold sprinkled with different pistachio and rose flavors and toasted kataifI for a bit of crunch. 5 stars - Bone marrow: I didn't get any since my friends gobbled up the 2 orders, but was impressive with shallot gel and black olive puree. 5 stars - Lamb: I'm not a lamb person but this was cooked so nicely and incredibly juicy with just a bit of fun jerk spice over a corn puree. 4.5 stars - Death by chocolate: impressive flambe presentation with decadent chocolate and coffee flavors in the round puck. 4.5 stars - Filet and uni: fun combo with a dollop of uni on top for color and more umami flavor. Continuing the Japanese flair with miso potatoes and a ponzu sauce. 4 stars - Atmosphere: classy yet vibrant and comfortable. Long tall bar along the sides and tables within a smaller space than I expected. - Cocktails: unique offerings and good variety of spirits with one of the owners previously owning a liquor store. - Wine list: loved that they had reasonably priced bottles as many times it's a challenge to find anything in the 100 range. Sommelier was very helpful. There were several good champagnes to choose from around there plus 3 options for glasses of sparkling. Midlights: - Menu says small plates are the ones that can be shared but many large plates are sliced in pieces to do so as well. Lowlights: - Out of key dishes: the short rib my friend was so looking forward to and also the gnocchi. Odd thing was we weren't notified about the short ribs until over 15 minutes after we ordered and the gnocchi not until we noticed it never made it to our table and asked. - Small service snafus: from many empty glasses being left on the table to taking away used silverware and not replacing it for the upcoming dishes. Had an amazing time and can't wait to come back to try the other dishes. read more
I've been following Lira for a while in anticipation of their grand opening and wanted to love it so much, but I think it fell a little short of my expectations. Would come again with to give them another shot since I know they just opened and likely working out the kinks. Overall, it's 3.5 stars from this first experience. Cocktails & Wine: 8/10 - Udder Confusion - Sonoma Sour - American Smoke Also got a glass of reisling. Cute cocktail presentation and we liked what we got with the exception of the American Smoke which had too much of an incense type tasting smoke which we weren't used to, but that's preference. Took a while to get our drinks. Food: 8/10 -Roasted root salad - good, the different flavors complemented well. Tasted as expected from the dish from the fish description. Hamachi crudo - aesthetically pleasing with nice colors and texture, flavor was ok. We thought it could have used a bit of acid. Didn't love it, didn't hate it, but probably wouldn't order it again. - Red wine braised short rib - soooo good!! The meat was tender, the demi glaze was so flavorful and full of umami, truffle polenta and blue cheese foam *chef's kiss* Hands down best dish of the night. - Brown butter hummus and mushroom "scallops" - more on this below, but this was a vegetarian take on Chef's Tucker signature dish on Next Level Chef. Flavors were good for what it was. Just wasn't expecting mushrooms since we ordered scallops. -Olive oil cake with pear - on the sweeter side, but I liked it and would definitely order it again. The olive oil cake was one of the best that I've tasted! Side note: Somehow we ended up with the vegetarian version of this dish where the scallops were subbed with king oyster (?) mushrooms. The mushrooms were made to look like scallops (very creative btw) so we didn't realize it at first, but after eating a few bites the texture was odd so we asked our server and she reassured us confidently that it was scallops. Another server saw us continuing to poke at the food and came by, looked at the dish, and he confirmed it was mushrooms and not scallops and took the dish away. Our server did come back to apologize, but at that point we were finished with our dinner so I didn't want to stick around for another 20 minutes while they remake the dish so told them not to. I asked about the pricing of the vegetarian dish and if it was different from the original dish. I was ok to pay for it since we did eat most of it before we learned we had gotten the wrong dish, but was hoping it was priced cheaper ($50 for mushrooms felt steep!) especially since the mistake was not ours. Our server responded that she thinks it should be priced less since it was a different caliber ingredient. A few minutes later she came back and said it was priced the same and asked if it was going to be a problem. I was surprised by the question and it was clearly getting awkward at this point so my husband said it's fine. We chopped it up to her being young and likely inexperienced so we bit the bullet, but the situation did take away from our experience in if I'm being honest hence the rating. read more

Came here for my parent's anniversary dinner, and let's just say the experience wasn't.... Up to par. I don't typically write reviews unless they're positive. And while I don't want to bash on a business, I do think there are quite a few improvements this establishment could make. The service was average, our waiter was very sweet and attentive so no issues there. Atmosphere was beautiful and you can tell they definitely put a lot of thought into the construction and design of the bar/seating area. With that being said -- I am beyond disappointed in the food. If you are looking for a solid, elevated, and diverse palate of flavors this missed the mark by a LONG SHOT. I am an avid foodie around the Bay Area and absolutely love trying new places, especially when they're local. Every dish that came out was sub par, none of the "shareables" were shareable. The bone marrow had zero marrow on it and some caviar placed on top, not sure how that was even allowed out of the kitchen when there was nothing on it? Do they double check their work before sending it out? Idk... lol. The carrots were flavorless and bland as all hell. Not even a lick of salt or harissa which allegedly was what it was supposed to have. Octopus was mid. Not sure why a "high end" restaurant would serve it with some kind of weird aioli on top of a bed of mushy spinach and served with a lemon slice... The salmon crudo was probably the only semi redeeming dish I had. Semi balanced flavors, I enjoyed the citrus and ponzu along with the radish and beets which added some more depth. Well done! Now for what might be the worst dish I've had in my life... I'm not exaggerating when I say I spit this out in my napkin. DO NOT and I mean DO NOT get the gnocchi carbonara. This is the dish that made me write this review. The ricotta gnocchi was hard as a rock with zero flavor. If you've ever cooked in your life you know how bland ricotta is, you HAVE to season it properly. The sauce was like a roux consistency but it tasted like straight up flour and no cheese. The consistency was dog mush. There's no way they didn't have it sitting under a hot lamp beforehand because it came out gelatinous. It was so awful that I wouldn't feed this to an animal as it would be animal abuse. Straight up battery acid. I can't get the taste out of my head. I'm actually horrified and nauseous thinking about it. All this to say, I truly believe they focused on the wrong things. The aesthetic was beautiful but the food was god awful. It feels like they want to be "high end" but missed the mark on all levels. They couldn't execute it in a way that was consistent or appetizing. Please don't waste your money here especially for over $100 a person. read more

We stopped in for happy hour/late lunch and ended up loving everything we tried. The oysters were honestly the best we've had in Campbell. The chimichurri steak bites were super tender and full of flavor, and the crab toast was delicious. We finished with the burger, which was juicy and so good--jalapeños were the perfect touch, and adding bacon is definitely worth it. I also got a passionfruit / bourbon drink that was amazing - highly recommend if you like passionfruit. The owner came by to chat and was really friendly, and the bartender gave great recommendations. We're definitely coming back to try their craft beer and the full dinner menu. read more

My friend and I visited Lira recently with a 7PM reservation. While it wasn't too crowded when we arrived, it took a bit for us to get seated. That said, the staff was incredibly warm and charming, and our server was super sweet, attentive, and helpful, which really set the tone for the night. We sat on the outdoor patio, right along a lively strip with other restaurants and bars. It had a nice buzz without being overwhelming, intimate enough for good conversation while still full of energy. The food was the true highlight: * Salmon crudo - vibrant and buttery, fresh and full of flavor * Fried octopus - perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, packed with bold flavor* Short rib ragu - pure comfort food and easily my favorite dish of the night: rich, hearty, and satisfying * Halibut - a very close second: beautifully seasoned and cooked, paired with a light tomato vinaigrette that brought brightness and balance to the dish Prices are on the higher side (appetizers $22-28, entrées $42-45) but the quality justifies the cost. Even though seating took a little time, the experience was well worth it. Between the excellent food, relaxing vibe, and genuinely kind service, Lira delivered a wonderful dinner that has me already planning my return visit. read more

Tucker's Restaurant "lira" is exquisite. It opened the end of January and the menu is 5. Unique cocktails, we had a Caprese Martini. We started with Hamachi crudo and Norma had roasted root salad on a bed of carrot purée. Next, Gnocchi that melts in your mouth. Perfect lamb loin on a bed of corn purée. Desert was Death by Chocolate flambé with 151 rum. I had affogato with Fra Angelico. All this with a great Amarone. The dining room is comfortable and feels special. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable and they come and fold your napkin when you go to the restroom. Tucker zooms through the restaurant talking with everyone. A great restaurant that is just waiting for Michelin recognition. read more

Checking out the legit HH @lira_restaurant_. Great beers, yummy selection of bites, and killer prices. We tried the Royale with cheese and bacon, Whipped herb ricotta with extra honey, Chicken tinga empanda with a little kick, and Steak bites with chimichurri. Everything was really well seasoned and the exceptional hh pricing made it a deal. We'll be back to try dinner soon, the lamb chops and halibut look good. There was also a nice selection of craft beers all for 5 bucks, hard to beat, and cocktails for 10. The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with a modern California vibe and big windows that let in a lot of natural light. Well worth a visit. read more
