Five Star Cleaners & Tailoring did an amazing job with my wedding dress! During our wedding, we took photos outside, and unfortunately, there was a little mud that got on my dress. On top of that, my cat must have been upset she wasn't invited, because a couple days after we returned home, she had a seemingly intentional accident in very close proximity to the dress. Although the dress was in a bag at the time, both the dress and the veil ended up with a slight odor to them. After that, I decided it was time to look into cleaning options. I had already been to Five Star in the past, so I used the Yelp project feature to reach out to them as well as a few other cleaners in the Sacramento area. They were very responsive and their pricing to clean and preserve the dress was very reasonable, so I decided to go with them. The turnaround time for cleaning was about a week, which is exactly what they estimated. They showed me the dress before it was boxed so I could confirm it was properly cleaned. There were no more mud stains, and the odor was completely gone! After I inspected the dress, they asked me to come back in a day or two after they had time to box it. It was wedding and prom season, so they were a little busy, and I told them I was in no rush to get the dress back. I went back a few days later and picked up a large box. There was an outer, regular, storage box and inside was a large preservation box that had a display window. It looked great! Oh, and to top it all off, I had originally only inquired about cleaning and boxing for the dress, but when I asked how much it would be to add the veil, they included it for free! Thank you to this business for showing they also lack good customer service. To accuse the customer of leaving a misleading review when the customer has nothing to gain in doing so, shows a lack of accountability and emotional intelligence. The tailor did indeed make a mistake here by leaving the altered front of the dress uneven. A good manager would see this as a training opportunity for the employee. I did not take my $250 dress back after the mistake was made as I had zero confidence in the ability of the tailor to make it better, considering they didn't know how to handle my simple request the first time. People make mistakes and lose their touch with age, not uncommon. To take it out on a customer who only tried to spread awareness for anyone else getting an expensive garment altered is just childish and bad business. read more

Five Star Cleaners is just that. Five star! I hadn't been in for a long time, and ended up dropping off a large amount of cleaning, because my regular go to couldn't get my clothes back to me by the time I needed my clothes. The same sweet woman still works there. She's always smiling, pleasant, and happy to get the customers in and out. My recent trip was the true testament of amazing customer service. I dropped our clothes off expecting to not get them back for several days. It was right before a huge holiday, and we all know that it's virtually impossible to get the 24 hour turn around service that I received. I was bummed that I couldn't use one of my coupons, but I wasn't charged extra money for the expedited service. I call that a win. I need to have a zipper replaced in som pants. I sent them a question to inquire if they did zipper replacements and if so what was the cost. I was quoted $20-$28. Pretty reasonable price especially considering I have no zipper replacement skills When I dropped my pants off I was only charged $18!! I was impressed that Five Star was close to my favorite Raley's location, had great reviews and even offered free estimates. I sent an inquiry via Yelp and received a prompt reply. After a quick back and forth exchange, I made plans to come in the next day. Once my dress dart was pinned and my pants were measured for hemming length, we moved on to the jacket I brought. Instead of shortening the sleeves (and making money in the process), they explained my jacket was designed to cuff up the sleeves. No tailoring needed! I was beyond impressed. A couple days later, I had a voicemail asking me to come back in. The darts on my dress didn't quite look right to the seamstress. I popped back over, was re-pinned in an instant, and I was on my way. I was so impressed with this attention to detail and focus on customer service. In addition to saving me money on the unnecessary jacket alterations, a Yelp check in gets you a 20% discount on your first visit.
