I was looking for a hair salon near me in Pinole where I could get a simple straight cut. I called Ravays and spoke with Bernice who told me that she could easily handle my request. I have very long gray hair that is almost to my waist and I wanted her to cut off about 5 - 6 inches. I was able to get an appointment that day. Bernice was a very nice lady who made me feel comfortable as soon as I walked in. She took about 15 minutes to cut my hair and it looked great. It was exactly what I wanted. Her salon is beautiful and has a wonderful vibe. Bernice even gave me some great advice for my granddaughter who was struggling with dandruff. I had been seeing Bernice for almost a year and was reasonably satisfied until she pulled a very unprofessional stunt on me. I was running a bit late for an appointment so I texted her to let her know I'm on my way and would be a bit late. No response. When I arrived, the salon was shuttered and dark. I texted her multiple times and left a voice message on her phone. No response as of four days later. I did miss an appointment last month due to a medical procedure that day, so I have to assume this was some sort of childish payback for that. Since she is close to retirement, it seems clear she no longer cares about her regular customers or her business, even though my brother, who referred me to her, has been seeing her for years. It's one thing to be ghosted by somebody on an online dating app, but quite another to be ghosted by someone who claims to be a professional hair cutter and owns a business which is charging $ for their services. I came here for years and one distrustful transaction, by raising the price and then charging my credit card not telling me then adding a $10 tip, when I asked why did she charged $25 over the usual, she stated she has always charged me that amount, I said absolutely not, I showed her the previous bill Debra yelled well it because of COVID-19. You never have the right to take a clients card and just change the price, the owner called me asking to remove this however like I said to Bernice, this is what she did to me, I don't want it happening to someone else so it stays. There is no misunderstanding when I was told a price then after my hair is completed, I gave Debra my credit card, she charge my card a different amount, when I question the difference I was yelled at for asking. Told that was the new price after Covid, see I could understand a change in price what I do not understand is changing it without telling the customer, especially a long time good customer. read more

My first couple times in this salon were a bit troubling but then I met Alisa and I am thrilled to have found someone so talented, kind, and accommodating. Alisa always goes above and beyond. She continues to learn new tricks despite being a veteran in her field. She truly loves her work and it shows. I have some pretty challenging hair to work, thick, course, kinky curls and a ton of it. While many hair dressers cringe when they see the amount of hair I have, and treat my mop like a burden, Alisa looked at me like a challenge and dove right in with a smile on her face. Griselda has got to be the most unprofessional stylist I have ever encounter. I hired her services for my bridal hair and make up because she was highly recommended to me by mutual friends so I really trusted she was going to do an amazing job. I am saddened to say I was not treated as a valued costumer and that her make up skills were less than stellar. This is my experience with her: When I showed up for my trail appointment I was surprised she didn't have me down in her calendar. In fact I wasn't in her schedule for my wedding day, even though I had called to make both appointments months in advance. She was able to do the trial because she was unoccupied when I arrived. While I was there she made "space for me" at 7am for my wedding day. While I was happy with my hair-do I was less than impressed with my make up. I had to tell her what to do with my eyes, my eyelashes looked detached from my real ones, she didn't add make up on my eyelids, she only applied almost no make up on my face because she didn't have enough, her make up collection is limited, and she told me to bring my own make up for the day of the wedding. Though I understand it's a trial, I payed $85 to have it done right. I felt it was a rip off. Because she had done an okay job on my hair and because there was no time to look for another stylist, I made the wrong decision to keep my appointment for my wedding day. A few days before the wedding she called to CANCEL my appointment! A FEW DAYS! This is the most unprofessional experience I have encountered with a hair stylist. I can truly say that I treated her with respect and did not expect her to do something like this. Fortunately I was able to find someone else last minute and get my hair and make up done on time, but she made me feel as a worthless customer. She could have at least offer a refund for making me waste my time with her. Please avoid a headache by not going with her. read more

I just love going to this salon! Debra has been my stylist for several years. She always takes the time to ask about how I liked the cut, color, etc from my last visit. Everyone is super friendly and I'm always offered a beverage when I arrive. The shop is clean and the atmosphere relaxing. I got tired of either going to Piedmont for a really hair cut/style and another place in Pinole for a color. I needed a good place nearby that can do both with no compromise on quality. An acquaintance recommended me about Ravay's and I yelped it and tried it once (this was last summer.) Met Bernice, the owner, who is super nice and very professional - I was in and out, perfect hair style and guess what color came out great and she actually use better quality products. I've been coming consistently every 6 weeks or so - I can always count on Bernice to accommodate my very crazy schedule. One time I had travel plans and I was super busy - I had my hair done at like super early I think it was like 8am in the morning. This is a great place to get hair done. My salonist iChristina moved here from another location. The other location was great too but I have never felt so comfortable in a salon as I feel at ravays. The minute you walk in it feels like home. You are always offered a drink or soda water or tea. And Christina is fantastic. She's been doing my hair for 10+ years. I love how my hair feels after I get it done by Christina. Christina is so patient with me teaching me how to style my own hair.
