Because tucked into a cozy front corner of the liquor store is Lisa's Sandwiches, which serves up meticulously prepared submarine sandwiches that could double as a weapon, given their ample heft. While Lisa's offers outdoor seating, I suggest you order your sandwich to go ... Given the, um, dearth of ambiance. I arrived after a shift at 8:30pm, was greeted at the window by Lisa herself or her gifted colleague. I say gifted because I was smitten with the obvious care and attention to detail she brought to preparing my order. In today's world where Jimmy John's and their ilk will whip out skinny flute-shaped sandoes in around 90 seconds, it's very refreshing to still see sandos made with such craftsmanship! I'd tabbed a Godfather, sized large and lemme tell you... ...As my photos will attest, this sandwich could pull double duty as a modern day mace or billy club, in a pinch! Even one HALF of the sub is nearly the size of my wife's quart-sized jar of cocoa butter!! The Godfather is comprised of ham, capicola and mortadella with lettuce, tomato, onions, salt/pepper and vinegar dressing. I had 'em withhold the pickles and, on future orders, I'll strip out the salt since the meats themselves are already well salinated. Lisa's makes a dozen or so cold subs plus a quartet of hot ones including meatball, BBQ Beef and Polish Sausage. In a hurry, don't feel like waiting the 7-8 minutes she takes to lovingly assemble your cavernous sub? Call ahead and they'll pre-make your order. Finally- Lisa's prices offer you just as much value as they do size. I spent $12.99 for my (darn-near) 12-pk sized monster. On output alone, my sub was the equivalent of two Subway footlongs or a trio (mebbe even a quartet!) of Jimmy John's sandwiches! Not feeding a crowd? My mom loves a classic club sandwich cut into 4 pcs held in place with tooth picks, well... Lisa's does have the the "clubhouse" a Ham & Turkey on white bread cut in half. I did a little work before I served it to her, and she excitedly said "now that's a club sandwich!" It was delicious almost too much meat and not dry but not too messy w/ mayonnaise or oil the way some chain places do it either. I also got a whole 16" roast beef to share, also a good made sandwich. Roll may have a little on the older side, but didn't taste dry or smell. **The trick here is to phone in an order, pay inside, and pick up at outside window. read more

I used to work in Ontario down the street from the original location and I couldn't believe that they opened a new location near me in Pomona. I was scrolling through yelp trying to figure out for lunch and I saw Lisa's as an option. Based on the pictures it looked the same as the one in Ontario. I decided to try myself and the setup is practically the same as the one in Ontario. Sandwich shop tucked in a liquor store in the middle of a neighborhood. I ordered the mafia torpedo and it was just as good as I had it when I used to go to the one in Ontario. For a half sandwich and a Diet Coke from the liquor store it was about $10. Way cheaper than Jersey Mikes down the way! I'd rather support small businesses anyway. Definitely a good place to order for a quick and (by today's standards) cheap lunch. Even try to order ahead because once it starts getting popular, it'll be a bit of a wait since there is only one person making the sandwiches. read more

Lisa's in Ontario is hands down amazing. It is a total hidden gem and I have never had a bad experience here. If you love sandwiches, this place is an absolute must-try. The Godfather: This is my go-to order. I get it with pepperoncinis on the side and... wow. Just wow. The flavor is consistently perfect. It is always an absolute delight when I get to eat here. I literally would go here every single day if I could. I will say, don't let the exterior deceive you! Yes, it is located inside a liquor store, but there is something in the air in this place that makes these sandwiches magical. There is also seating outside if you want to sit and enjoy your sub right there. The only unfortunate thing is that this specific location no longer takes EBT. However, if that is important to you, the location in Chino does still take EBT and the sandwich is covered by it there. But aside from that payment change, I love this place. Do not got to this place, they can't follow simple instructions. I wanted a Roast Beef with Turkey. I asked for Mustard, Mayo, lettuce and extra Pickles. When I got home it had Onion and tomatoes and was swimming in vinegar and oil dressing. So paid for a sandwich thats gonna go into the trash. Its a shady place where you order with a casher that tou will struggle with understanding him and some other dude makes tou sandwich in a tiny shack inside a grocery store. The mafia sandwich was really good. A real deli sandwich. I love the bread! One star taken off for the polish sausage. It was stale unfortunately. I bit into it and the sausage itself was all hard and gross, so I couldn't eat it. I'd still come back for the actual sandwiches though. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. It's right around the corner from where Husband works, so since I had to take him lunch today I figured this was my chance. The "sandwich place" was a literal hole in the wall attached to a liquor store. I called in my order so I only had to wait less than 5 when I got there. And then what's nice is you can get your chips and drink from the store inside. So I got The Godfather and I could only eat half. It was So Good. They seasoned the tomatoes really well and I respect that. I felt jealous giving the other half to my husband the next day. I got the Meatball sub for my husband and got to eat half of that for dinner. The meatball was ok. Not amazing, it def could have used more cheese, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed. The bread stood out on both sandwiches as really fresh and fluffy. So Give Lisa's a try if you're in the mood for a solid sub. read more
