I have stopped in twice, just to check the place out. They obviously spent an enormous amount of money on the build out, creating a very modern and open and huge space. It is great they did so and the building looks great. It takes a whole lot of people, however, to have this 3 story giant feel slightly full. I have not eaten a meal, but the menu looks to be all over the place, and I have no idea what Belgian food is after looking through the offerings. Maybe it is the look and style of the place that is Belgian, and they eat the same food everyone else does. Fair enough. Why, in 2016, a new place would make the conscious choice to dress the men in nice slacks and button down shirts, and put the women in high heels and very short, very tight, black dresses, is beyond me. I guess they are shunning couples and families and going for the over 50 male Guido crowd. My wife won't go back and a family certainly won't want to take their children. It is a choice that reflects very poorly on management. The first time I went, we lasted one drink downstairs. It was crazy loud and only 25% full. The second time we lasted one drink on the 3rd floor. Not as crazy loud but tasteless (see above). Since the atmosphere really stinks, there likely won't be a third trip or a meal, which is a shame because we were really looking forward to this addition. read more

What an amazing renovation to the former Chez Nora - they must have spent a fortune opening up the restaurant - from dark and cozy to open and bright. Lots of wood & glass - and while lovely the acoustics are really not great - we met another couple for dinner and were sat next to a table of 10 ladies who were having a really good time. Needless to say we did not have much of a conversation. The service was quite good - they are still training - as the official opening is not until later in August - but really everything seemed to go pretty smoothly. The one busboy needs to learn that the steak knife goes on the right - but that is just a nit. Our two main guys - Jeremiah and Christian were very good especially since they were also in charge of the 10 ladies ;-) Now to the food - it is billed as Dutch Steakhouse - and the steaks were pretty fine. I had the 14 oz. strip - it was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful - cut narrow and thick (my preference) vs. wide and thin. My husband had the bone in rib eye - he was not so pleased - it was a little thin and not a flavorful as my strip. Our dinning partners had the 6 oz fillet and they said they were excellent. Sides - mac and cheese - very good and cheezey - asparagus also good - brussel sprouts - not so much. no flavor - either add back in the bacon (pancetta) or just forget it. Huge Caesar salad - if you have a small appetite get one to share. I think that is it - I look forward to trying it when they are fully up and running and the menu is finished - right now it is a bit of a work in progress so if you go keep that in mind and give them a break - I think they have done a great job so far. Lise has lots of potential, but they really need to pay attention to their service. The food is quite good and varied. Well seasoned steaks and a variety of entrees. However, for the prices I expect the service to be at a higher level, as well. We started our evening on their rooftop bar. Beautiful night. Good music. But, it took 40 minutes to get our drinks. The service did not improve at dinner, either. Very slow and uneven delivery of each course. To make matters worse, we had to fight off the waiters to get them to leave our plates alone. They kept trying to clear our plates before we were finished. This place really needs to work on training their staff. read more

Lisse is a favorite on our list for live music, yummy appetizers, and fantastic wine. The restaurant is beautiful and each staff member we've met has been welcoming and helpful. We took some friends here who were visiting from out of town and we all enjoyed ourselves. I had the Van Gogh steak and it was very good. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes as well. The mac & cheese was some of the best I've had! The food is pricey but we knew this going in. The atmosphere in the main dining area could be better. I guess I just felt it was kind of boring and for being a very good restaurant in the price point that it is would have expected a more romantic and intimate vibe. The bar was nice and although I didn't go upstairs my friend said it was a nice as well. They had live music and gentleman playing piano was great. It definitely added to ambiance. Wow great steak house. While most people expect a traditional steak house this is an amazing new restaurant! Check it out before you have to make reservations weeks in advance. Knowledgeable staff great food/wine combos i cant say a bad thing about the food or the service. My only complaint was the walk to and from my car it was very cold out-jk. Me and my Fiancé had a great anniversary meal here on weds night. The atmosphere was great with a mood acoustic performer great in the background. The service was great the whole way through besides one huge mistake the server made, that ended being ok because the food was so good. The flow of the meal was exactly spot on, the waiter was always there when he needed to be and not there too much. We started with a drink, the charcuterie board and the Alaskan king crab. The charcuterie board was original and delicious. It had 3 different kinds of Gouda, several different dried meat products, almonds, a delicious apricot marmalade and gourmet crackers. It was great! The crab was really good as well, I am glad the waiter messed up. Recently we have been noticing a European trend towards restaurants serving crab and lobster cold. We asked him if it would hot or cold and he said hot and it came out chilled. We were like what the heck....... but it was so good, we didn't care. They are not even known for their seafood, but it was unbelievable chilled so we got over it really quick. We then got the Dutch steak and salmon. They were both cooked perfectly and highly recommended. Great Steak House for special occasions, Price range be prepared to spend about 60 a person if you get a drink, appetizer and entree. Had a wonderful night out at the bar on the third floor of Lisse. Had all the Dutch favorites: bitterballen, chicken sate with peanut sauce and fries. Salted caramel as well as vanilla ice cream is made there and was delicious. Caramel tasted like a stroopwafel and was even garnished with a half one. My husband and I were here on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. The atmosphere was quite nice. However if you are here expecting great food that is Dutch inspired (as what they advertised), you will be greatly disappointed. I was excited about this visit to Lisse thinking that I will be able to get some great (or at least decent) Dutch inspired food. But no. Not at all. We ordered the Chicken Sate as our appetizer. This is a very common meat dish in the Netherlands and Indonesia. Lisse did not get it right at all. The grilled chicken cubes were tasteless. It is supposed to be marinated with herbs and spices. But what was served to us were several pieces of grilled chicken breast there were not seasoned at all. (not even salt and pepper). The meat was topped with some spicy peanut sauce. But again, it was not done right. In the Dutch (and Indonesia) version, it is supposed to be a thick and creamy peanut sauce with complex spice profile. But what was served to us tasted like diluted peanut butter from a can with chili powder added to it to make it spicy. Big disappointment. If they could not even get this dish right, we were not hopeful of their other dishes. But we went on to order our entree - a Bami pasta (pasta with stir-fried pork and vegetables). It was fettuccine with a few pieces of pork strips. Again, the pork was not seasoned at all ! It tasted totally bland. The only saving grace for this dish was the spicy sauce for the pasta that made the dish edible. The next entree we ordered was a seafood dish - Walleye. It was one piece of Walleye fillet smaller than the size of your palm, seared after dredging it in some panko bread crumbs. That was it. No sauce, no side item. Again, the fillet was without any seasoning. We had to count on the lemon juice from the lemon wedge to kill the fishy taste of the fillet. This whole experience left us wondering whether the chefs and the owners ever tasted their own food before they decided to offer them on the menu to the customers? At the price points they charge, there are plenty of other more superior options around town. We will never return again. read more

Impressive! My wife and I went to Lisse on a suggestion from a friend that had a good experience. They were still in the soft opening phase - but you really wouldn't know. The facility is really well done and the patio looked amazing although we didn't have a table outside. We sat upstairs and were waited on by Jeremiah. Despite the fact that he was obviously pretty busy - he was more than attentive to our needs and walked my wife, someone who is tough to please in the food arena, through the menu. He almost had me considering the dutch filet but alas.. the Tomahawk Bone-in Ribeye was UNREAL! What a presentation! My wife surprised me by ordering the Walleye - but she gushed over it! Bottomline: If the combination of food and service is here to stay - than is that this really is a true destination and I imagine that it will be a pretty tough reservation in the coming weeks. We made a reservation and came in and everything seemed great. After sitting for a long time waiting to be served to the point of walking out, the server finally came to get a drink order. We placed an appetizer order for it to come out and no plates to use to eat. We were waiting for our waiter to come back for our order (menus closed and sitting there by the way) and saw him standing on the wall waiting for the host to finish seating the table beside us for him to sweep in for their drink order. He ends up coming back and getting their appetizer order and entree order while we are sitting here, finished with the appetizer while we just ate it off the serving tray, and goes and enters their order in the system to finally come back for our lamb and pork chop order as an afterthought. Awkward as I bit my tongue in hunger and to not voice my opinion. When we did get our food, it was good but the Mac and cheese was cold. We were almost done with the entree before we saw the waiter again to waive down and inform him of he chilly Mac and cheese. That's about the extent of our experience as everything after the new Mac and cheese went as expected. Overall the food was good. The artichoke appetizer was great but honestly there wasn't much artichoke versus the mushrooms. The chops were great. Service, not so much, even taking into consideration that the guy may new. read more

I don't often leave negative reviews but was shocked at the lack of professionalism I experienced at Lisse. I understand they are a new restaurant and make mistakes but my date and I were charged twice for drinks because the bartender couldn't locate my card in the system and then he ended up paying. I checked my credit card statement and wasn't happy to also have been charged. What I am most disappointed in was how the situation was handled or rather not handled at all going forward. I talked to one manager Charlie and gave him all of the credit card information to which I never heard back. When I called to follow up I spoke with another manager Brittany told me he no longer worked with the company and she said would take care of it within 2 days. Again no response. I left a voicemail to call me back and again no response. For a high end restaurant I would expect more and therefore will take my business elsewhere in the future. I dined here last night and have nothing but great things to say about the place, I had the seafood pasta and it was delicious. A friend of mine had the Tomahawk steak which they loved. I tried some of this and agreed as the flavor as well as the texture were top notch. The place also has a really cool atmosphere with an amazing rooftop patio to lounge around on and enjoy some drinks. The service was amazing with great attention to detail as I was never at one point without anything I needed for my meal or beverages. I read the review from yesterday about the staffs dress attire. Very happy with our dinner tonight from start to finish. We walked in with no reservation and were greeted warmly, appreciated the easy $5 valet parking. Dressed casually, coming from a day at the Aquarium with our 10-year old son, we shared the dining room with couples dressed up for date night, but the mood and service was special for us just the same. Started with Gouda cheese app, shrimp cocktail, clean and crisp Dutch salad (my son devoured his Caesar). Husband loved rib-eye steak and my rosemary chicken over risotto was divine (garnished with a petite daisy head). Brussels sprouts are a must (insanely delicious), will try grilled artichokes next time. The restaurant decide was gorgeous, chill, and relaxing. The staff, from the bartenders and hosts to the servers, were very hospitable. Our server was actually amazing, very outgoing and friendly with a great sense of humor. The food was on the pricey side, but it was delicious. One of us had the Rembrandt with fries, the Delmonico with asparagus, and a smaller cut steak with a potato. The steaks were thick and cooked perfectly to order. They were all well seasoned and delicious, but the Delmonico tasted the best. The fries were served with a delicious aioli and a curry ketchup, both of which were on point. In addition, we all had Caeser salads. They were plentiful, but not necessarily flavorful. They lacked the robust tang that usually get with a Caeser salad dressing. Have visited twice sofar. First time was good and second time- it was ok. The ribeye wasn't a very good cut of meat. Too fatty, not the marbled fat that you expect from a ribeye. First and last visit with my wife, we ordered the French fries as an appetizer, came out smothered in some kind of room temperature spicy peanut sauce, not what we ordered but didn't seem to bother my wife so we went with it. Wife ordered crab legs after being told they were served warm, I ordered a NY strip Medium well. Crab legs came chilled and steak was medium rare(at best). If steak house can't cook a steak to temperature, and doesn't know the difference between warm or cold, you should definitely skip it. Steak had little or no seasoning and was chewy, not a great cut, probably out of a vacuum sealed bag. Complained to server and manager who offered to bring steak up, but since it had been cut the best they could do is microwave it, so declined. Manager had nothing to say about crab legs ( they don't even put a candle under the clarifies butter to keep it warm. Atmosphere is pretentious, go to Friday's and save the money. read more

Lisse (like you are saying Melissa but, only the lissa part), was wonderful! A great local restaurant that I would highly recommend. Service was timely and too-notch Kyle (aka Buda) was on-point and made great suggestions on menu options for our first visit. They were accommodating of our infant, provided a high chair for the pumpkin seat. Live music was great, not too loud. We would recommend the mule and blueberry old fashion. The meat balls were good, the cheese board was fine nothing too special but good assortment. Wine selection was nice. We both had the Vangogh steak which was cooked perfect and had great flavor, we really liked the steak dusting. Brussel sprouts were awesome, Mac and cheese was good but might try something else next time. Agree with other posts about the steak and experience being similar to that of a "Jeff Ruby," style restaurant. Valet parking was available. This steakhouse was such a disappointment. We had been looking forward to dining at Lisse since we heard it was opening and a friends birthday was the perfect excuse. We had a reservation and were shown to a very small table right away. I understand the location has limited space but this table barely fit 2 let alone 4 adults. The noise level was crazy. Between a couple dozen patrons, full waitstaff and live music in a very small space, it made conversation next to impossible. Honestly, a small table and loud establishment isn't enough to detour me if the food is great. It wasn't. We ordered drinks the cheese plate to share before our entrees. The cheese plate to the table without any of the bread to put the cheese on. When I asked the server for the bread, he looked at the cheese plate and said "you guys didn't eat it already?" Um, no, we did not. He just turned around and walked away. Several minutes later the bread arrived with no explanation or apology. Next my husband and I each ordered a filet and the other guests ordered seafood options. The steaks were a disappointment, cooked to order but so bland. The cut was tender but lacked flavor and or seasoning. Both of the seafood dishes our guests ordered were described to us as "ok". The website listed a menu that wasn't current (not a seasonal difference, just changed or removed) and the lobster dish our guests (who don't eat beef) wanted wasn't available so that might have influenced their take on the second choice of entree. When I made the reservation, I made a note that we were celebrating a birthday. The waiter came to the table after we had finished our entrées, said that he would be out with our free dessert in a minute. I was a little taken back that he mentioned price as we were treating our guests to dinner. He came back with the crème brûlée and 4 spoons. We were never offered an opportunity to order a separate or extra dessert! When he came back to the table to check on us, he asked if we were enjoying our "free" dessert again! *sigh* how tacky! When all was said and done our bill exceeded $375 with gratuity. Granted we had several top shelf cocktails but good gracious, terribly over priced for food that is fair at best. read more

I was invited to attend a 5-course meal and wine pairing with some friends. I have only been to a handful of these type of events. I am always impressed with the wine selection, want more than a sip, and often find myself extremely hungry after the event (due to very small portions of food served with the wines). Not at Lisse event! WOW! If you want a healthy pour of amazing and carefully selected wines....Lisse is your place! You certainly will not go home hungry either. Each course was wonderfully prepared, explained and presented.... and might I add.....very generous portions for each course!!!! It was just an amazing experience. Great atmosphere, great conversation in the room, very intimate, nothing like I have experienced before. I will go back for another event. Just what our area needed. This is a place for everyone. This was our first Visit to Lisse's but it won't be the last. Beginning with our first greeting from the well trained staff to the last delicious course Lisse's was fine dining at it's best. The menu had some wonderful offerings that were unique to the usual steak house fare and the Dutch influence was apparent. Our waiter Jeremiah was absolutely professional and knowledgeable about every question that we asked and he made fantastic suggestions for every course. We thoroughly enjoyed them all. He was attentive, friendly and we wanted for nothing the entire evening. I had the Dutch Filet and my date had the strip. We both prefer rare to no more than medium rare and they were done to perfection which is the litmus test of a fine steakhouse for me. The sides and deserts suggested by Jeremiah were also perfect. All in all the atmosphere, the wonderful third floor lounge with it's view of the city, our delightful waiter and of course the delicious food made for an evening that I'm already looking forward to repeating. read more

For the price point, I was extremely underwhelmed. Nothing about it screams Dutch to me, which is a unique experience we were seeking. I had the Tulip cocktail, though while good, was not extraordinary and inexplicably had a blanco tequila as its base. I also had the wedge salad which was a bit tasteless and the lettuce was rusted which I find to be entirely unacceptable on a $12 salad WEDGE SALAD. The size of the sides was nice, though putting a 4 ounce steak on a menu is pretty laughable. It was delivered on a comparatively huge plate with no garnish and looked absolutely ridiculous. Lastly, the staff was friendly and attentive - too attentive. Maybe find a different place to congregate instead of by the stairs? We felt like we were being observed every second we were eating. The food was okay. Again, if it was significantly less expensive, I might have given another star. As it is, we won't likely be back. read more
