On the recommendation of a friend I contacted Listen Up for an AV set up in a new house. In the past 10 months I have spent $2000. $1200 of it was for product recommended by Listen UP, TV, Sonos and BluRay, and $800 was for service calls. The BluRay was replaced once during the 90 day warranty period. I have two primary concerns. First, I have just had the technician out again as I am having trouble with the BluRay and have been informed I need to replace it AGAIN however this time it is no longer under warranty. Secondly following a power failure my Sonos was no longer working properly. On the same service call the technician spent a significant amount of time trying to figure it out until which time I googled the problem and gave him the info on how to link my iTunes library to Sonos. I have to point out that when the Sonos was installed the same technician had to call in a coworker on another day to assist him. I had to pay service call rates for both of them. I'm not sure what I am going to do about the BluRay. Is there something wrong with it or is it technician error? It seems ridiculous to me that in this short time it is not working properly and there is no recourse because it is after warranty. I am frustrated with the lack of quality in many products today. I also have concerns with having to pay by the hour for a technician who lacks some of the expertise to be addressing these problems. I don't even know if there is a better alternative out there when you are not tech savvy and have to depend on these companies. It is unlikely however that I will ever use Listen UP again. 5/5/16 - I am updating my rating as I have been contacted by the company and they have replaced the BluRay with an upgraded model (as the previous one had serious flaws) at no charge to me. I was also reminded that I was given a discount on the service charge when the technicians came back to complete the Sonos install. This is accurate, although I believe that was an appropriate gesture based on the inconvenience of having to schedule another appointment to complete the work that should have been done in one visit. I would rate them 5 as I believe the corporate culture is based on excellent customer service however I wish it had not taken a bad review to have them stand behind the products they sell. I also understand the complications for a smaller company to stand behind a product that they did not manufacture. This is something the company will have to address with their suppliers. I appreciate them stepping up to make this right with me. read more

Salesman: Ari Around Thanksgiving I purchased a Sony 43 inch 4k television after doing research on the best model at that size. What I found out at home is that the viewing angle on this particular set is very narrow. That means when you sit directly in front of the TV, the picture is superb, but as you move left or right of center, it begins to fade/lighten. So if you have a large room with guests spread out, only those in front of the TV will see a great picture, while guests to the side will see a picture that is not very good....basically washed out. The picture gets more washed out the further you move from center. I tried all the adjustments: color/contrast/brighten/sharpness. Nothing worked. I could not figure out why the picture faded. For a month I lived with the set trying to get used to it, but couldn't because every time I sat down I noticed the problem. I talked with Ari and he said to bring it back if I was unhappy but I did not do so right away. Instead, I wanted to see how other 43 inch sets behaved and viewed several at a local tv store. To some degree, they all faded a little when viewed off center, but nothing as severe as the Sony. The final straw was seeing the LG 43 inch set at a computer store and noticed almost no wash out from the side; my wife commented that it was time to take the Sony back. I brought the Sony into the store for Ari to examine and he found a setting set at full contrast. He thought that was the problem, but I knew I had played with the settings extensively and didn't agree. So he came up with a wonderful plan: take the LG 43 inch set home and compare the two sets. I did this for an entire week and can say that the Sony is the better set in all respects except one: the viewing angle. I was not conscious of watching tv on the LG but I was always conscious of the picture when I watched the Sony. So I returned the Sony and got a full refund. Ari and Listen Up kept true to superior business practices through this entire process and I could not be happier. Based on this experience over a two month period, I can heartily endorse this business and hope to work with them on my next purchase. read more

I finally hired the Colorado Springs listen up after 8 years of constant frustration with a poorly installed control 4 system by another local company. For years I've had a system that could not perform even basic functions like turning on or off lights or getting a projector to switch inputs. The house was nearly unusable for long stretches of time b/c of no ability to control heat or lights properly. It was a constant headache with issues on top of issues that never resolved despite the number of companies I went to for assistance or the amount I paid for reprogramming or upgrades. I finally put our house on the market b/c I literally couldn't deal with the problems and frustration any more. You could not find a person who hated control 4 more than me and even discussed with my electrician how much it would cost to rip out the entire system and start over with traditional lights. I would have preferred an Amityville horror level poltergeist by that point. My wife encouraged me to give it one more try and go to listen up. I walked in one afternoon to ask for help after being brutally honest about my deep hatred for that little red 4 and they changed my life. I worked with Jacob and Mike from the first day. They walked me through my system and explained why it didn't work. They set realistic expectations about what I really needed for it to do what I'd been promised all these years. They worked with me over the course of a month to get exactly what I wanted and completely reprogrammed the system from the bottom up and for the first time in many years I have a home that I enjoy being in. It's been truly a technological miracle and we've since taken the home off the market and love it dearly. I am grateful to those guys every time I push a button and the lights actually come on or the projector starts up to enjoy a movie with the kids. I'm never going to be the poster boy for control 4 (we've been through too much together) but I'll never use another home electronics company. Listen up has got a customer for life. read more

Buyer Beware - I recently bought a new tv from Listen Up. I asked the salesman about having the tv installed and what the cost would be. I told him that I knew that a Big Box store charged $199.00. He told me that it should be close to that amount but a different department handled the installations so he could not give me an exact price. I was shocked when I received the bill and it was over double the cost I was expecting. I talked to the salesman and he denied the conversation ever happened and then started telling me the install was much more involved than he originally thought it would be. When I challenged him on that he told me that he would need to check on it but said "it is what it is". It was simply take the old tv down, install a new bracket, hang the new tv and plug it in. I checked with my neighbor who went with me and she heard the same thing that I did. I eventually received a new bill but it is still over double what a big box store would have charged. I am a big proponent of buying local when possible but not when it will cost hundreds of dollars more than going elsewhere. I urge anyone looking to buy from this establishment that they get the installation costs in writing and not trust the salesperson or go to a big box store to purchase. I made a huge mistake that I regret - had the salesman been honest and told me it would be five hundred dollars to install I would have thanked him for his time and went elsewhere. read more

Not as good as they once were ... Over the years we have purchased thousands of dollars of equipment and services from ListenUp and have always been pleased with the results. In February, 2016 we visited the Pearl Street store to get recommendations for equipment, design and installation of a home theater. ListenUp made much of a site visit to test the existing wiring. The equipment was delivered and installed in April, 2016. Despite numerous service calls - several times each month - (and quite a bit of finger-pointing) the system did not function properly until late August, early September, 2016, some six months after it was installed. With the exception of Chris Wilson (who was great), the technicians sent to repair problems with the installation were rude, condescending and generally incompetent. Repairs ranged from reinstalling a wall mounted woofer that was installed so badly and vibrated so much that you couldn't hear the sound, to almost non-stop connectivity problems. Although most, if not all, of the service calls were made to fix negligent installation issues, we were billed for each visit. You would think that ListenUp would stand behind their work, but you would be mistaken. Despite numerous requests to talk to someone in charge we were never given that opportunity. Finally, out of frustration, we paid their final bill and detailed in writing our unhappiness with their service. To date we've had no response. read more

It can be intimidating walking into a high-end audio store...too many years of the Circuit City's, Amazon's, and Best Buy's looking for a "deal". Knowing only that I wanted a higher quality system and with a limited budget (since expanded!) I didn't really know how I would be responded to. Kevin, was the salesperson on the floor that day, and after patiently listening to to my ramblings, he demo'ed some products and then drew out a plan that integrated my existing equipment, space, and budget. With a Peachtree Audio DAC at the heart, Sonos speakers strategically located throughout the house, and the final piece; (this is the expanded budget) Bowers and Wilkens 683 floor speakers. From start to finish I am seven months in from my first visit. Kevin has been with me every step of the way and educated me about products and systems that I was interested in rather then selling me his preferences. We live in a town home and love that we now have great sounding music filling our home. My experience was one of access to quality audio products at a fair price, very good service, and an audio tech I can trust. Now that we are hearing the beauty of a full range of sound from a quality system (compressed digital music is just that, compressed music) we will continue to use Listen Up as we expand our audio components. read more

Called ListenUp when we encountered a problem with our wifi and Control4 system. Because the Control4 problem meant we had no furnace capability, ListenUp worked us into an already packed schedule and sent Mario out the same day we called to trouble shoot the issues. Mario was a pleasure to have work on the problem. He wasn't hesitant to discuss what was wrong, what may have caused the problem, and what he was going to do to resolve the issues. Once he identified the problem between the Xfinity box and the Airport Extreme box he was able to quickly correct the "communications" problem between the boxes and get our wifi system back on line. We also had what looked like a problem with the Control4 thermostat but after doing some detailed trouble shooting he determined that the issue actually was with our HVAC system. [HVAC was repaired the following day.] Wouldn't hesitate having Mario or any of the ListenUp crew back again if any other problems occur or when our "smart" home system needs some upgrades. read more

There was a minor manufacturing defect with my headphones which most people probably wouldn't have been able to hear. Even if they could, it would have been considered insignificant. With one phone call, my salesman stepped up and exchanged the item without hesitation, and without even having heard the problem. He then worked with his team, who went out of their way to accommodate me through the exchange so I wouldn't have to send my headphones in and be without while waiting for a replacement. Smooth, red carpet service all the way! I felt they had an appreciation for, and knew how to cater to a critical audiophile clientele. And I never even stepped foot into a store; my entire purchase and exchange was all done by phone and email. Imagine the service I would have received had I come into the showroom! Impressive! It was extremely professional from the onset; our visit to the store and interaction with the owner(s) and sales consultant Scott, Scott's attention to what we conveyed was wanted and his pre-final sale visit to the house to see for himself what needed to be done, and Scott's advice on what equipment and service was best to meet our needs. Finally, Scott's and Orlando's followup on the order an Jonathan's and Gene's timely and expert in-home services had us setup - TVs hung and operating - in less time than we expected, and all in a COVID-19 safe manner. Just read through the previous reviews, and I wanted to add another positive one for both ListenUp and Scott Genaw. I've had great experiences with ListenUp in the past, so I went to them to buy a pair of Bowers and Wilkins P7 wireless headphones. I realized over time that P5's were the better fit for me, so I asked Scott if ListenUp would consider an exchange. Despite the fact that they don't typically carry P5's, and the fact that I was past the return period AND I had misplaced the original packaging (all issues that were clearly my fault), Scott said he'd look into it. About a week later Scott told me he'd reached out to the B&W rep, secured a special order of P5's, and was able to switch out the headphones for me. They're the best audio shop in Denver, and their customer service is second to none. read more

I absolutely love shopping at ListenUp audio/video. Everyone on staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The store is always very clean and well stocked with great products to look at and try. Love that they carry Marantz and Sennheiser. :) If you are looking for something that isn't on display, just ask. They are more than willing to special order anything from the brands they represent. It's so wonderful to have such an amazing store so close to home. Without these local shops we would all be reduced to having to shop online without ever trying the products prior to purchase. I had purchased a couple of Heos7 speakers from ebay/Listenup store. After years of working fine, one speaker stopped working. The Denon technician isolated the issue to the power cord. I posted a message with Listenup on ebay - and Jeff Mathis responded promptly. Not only did he offer support, he immediately scheduled the delivery of a spare power cord. Meanwhile I was still trying to connect with Denon parts and submit a form with proof of purchase details. Listenup responded faster and effectively compared to Denon. A brand new power cord showed up from ListenUp within a couple of days. All is well that ends well. I would easily recommend ListenUp for audio/video needs. I have purchased a Denon soundbar from their warehouse store (some amazing deals). read more

Nick and Mark were awesome. It took a couple of trips to get the job done (a modest home theater install--OLED on the wall, 5.1.2 in-wall/ceiling speaker system, components hidden away in a cabinet, everything on a wired connection running from the router in my office), but we're super happy with the results. Like many a home-improvement job, there were unexpected challenges (e.g., dryer ducting right where the center speaker was supposed to go), but the team (including Patrick, on sales) found great solutions each time. My wife and I are retired, and finally decided to also retire our 20 year old audio system, and upgrade our video system. We arranged an in-home appointment with Jeremy on 10/11/16 to evaluate our needs and recommend how to proceed. Jeremy was pleasant and offered some initial ideas. He promised to write up his initial recommendations and then follow up with us. I called after two weeks and was told he was out of the office, and left a message. Another week went by with no communication, and another message was left with Listen Up. It has now been almost four weeks and we cannot help but feel disregarded. I purchased a Marantz SR7011 warehouse deal on eBay because it was ListenUp. It was shipped very quickly, but when I set it up I could smell capacitors burning and the sound and video started to get jumpy after that. Ed responded very quickly when I wrote to ListenUp about the problem. Because I am in the Denver area, he told me I could drop off the bad unit and pick up another if I wanted to. When I did, he provided a new unit instead of another open box unit which was way above and beyond what I was expecting. I am a prior retail customer and again, ListenUp has surpassed in customer service. I do plan on shopping with them again in the future. Please keep it up! read more

I had an outdated audio system that never really worked well, old TV controllers, and patchy wireless. Listen Up sent out an expert (Katie) to evaluate the system in my home, gave me a prompt estimate, set up the work and finished within a few weeks, under estimate. I now have the easiest to use system I have ever owned, able to control each room's speakers, TV's and the home theater with my iPhone. They even solved a problem with wireless dead zones in the house, so my internet now works perfectly. They were exceptionally pleasant, prompt, and able to solve the toughest problems. I just had a great experience with Listen Up and their Tec Glenn Watts. I called Listen Up to come out to my house and work on the connections to a bunch of my electronics - everything from internet, to TV's, to Sonos. It all started when my internet went down and we called Comcast (our provider) to come out and fix it. Well.... Comcast came out never got the internet fix and in fact made matters worst. Man... is there a difference between Comcast (poor) and Listen Up (great). Listen Up's Glenn Watts came out and fixed everything and improved items that I did not even know were marginally set up.
