Enough has changed since my initial review to warrant an update here. For one thing, they closed…read more.. but then they reopened. There was also a pandemic that they survived, although moviegoing culture is definitely not the same. In 2026, the two big, unique features of Alamo Drafthouse are technically still true: (1) restaurant-quality food and drink are served to your seat, and (2) they threaten to kick you out without a refund if you talk or use your phone during the movie. The latter claim is dubious, since I've often observed talking and texting that went unpunished, even after I reported it once. People here are more respectful on average, though. The food situation has changed a bit recently. For one thing, it seems like the menu rotates a lot. They often have themed items based on the big movie of the time. You can expect the kind of food you'd find at a modern American pub, but with elevated prices, this being a movie theater after all. However, they recently started directing all orders to be transacted in their app. It is an imperfect system that I've tolerated. It can be a lot more difficult to communicate nuances with your order, and there doesn't seem to be a way to simply request some water. They want you to not use your phones during the movie, even though they clearly want you to order stuff using your phone. Between all that and the prices, I've found myself discouraged from ordering food. I have a long, long history with seeing movies in cinema complexes, and I am convinced that Auditorium #5 (aka "The Big Show") at this location has the best presentation around. If I am excited to see a movie and it is going to have fancy visuals and sound, I make sure to book a ticket in that specific auditorium. So that should tell you something. They have a real culture of movie fandom going on, with their curated slate of classic movies and pre-show vintage movie content. They also regularly show beloved kids movies. The employees are invariably helpful and enthusiastic, even if it is increasingly easy to avoid interacting with anyone. So I'm content to keep coming here for movies whether or not I'll order the expensive, so-so food.

Dinner and a show spot!…read more @alamotwincities in Woodbury is a perfect all in one outting. They have a restaurant/bar outside of the theaters but no need really because you can order food and drinks during the movie and never leave your seat! They have nicely spaced seats that recline, full menu, discrete lighting, notepads and pens to write your order down and a server will grab your order once it's propped up then your food will come out shortly. Tonight we saw a long 3 hour movie which was perfect to get dinner and then later dessert and a snack during the show. (Food pics were in the dark so I did my best) My our order tonight that I'd point you towards in order: Chicken Tenders with dry rub, added ranch and honey mustard for dips. These are awesome. My top pick here. Chocolate Chip Cookies. They come out warm and perfect. Milkshakes (didn't get one this time but goes well with warm cookies) Truffle & Parmesan popcorn. All of their popcorn options are free refills. Royal with cheese burger. This was a decent choice to get. Going to the movies theater always brings back nostalgia, joy and excitement. This adds another layer of enjoyment with having dinner or snacks served while you watch your movie. If you've never gone, highly suggest you do. I took this post down as a part of a deal that was struck so if anyone was wondering why it was…read moretaken down and re posted. The deal did not work out as I thought so this is a review from last November. ‐------------- It was a rough night we purchased tickets for the event in saint paul at the double tree and we decided into turning it into an evening. We booked a room at the double tree hotel where the event was and upon arrival we were told they were overbooked and had no rooms available. There will be another bad review coming soon for that catastrophe. But sat Nov 5th we had 2 tickets for one of thier events and after the hotel catastrophe we were like its all good we will enjoy the show then get another non hilton hotel. We wait in line with our tickets in hand that we purchased on eventbrite and we go to check in they could not find record of us. Talk about bad luck we showed them the tickets and after 10 minutes of interrogation like we were thieves trying to sneak into their show they told us they can setup a small table basically isolating us like the black sheep of the event. We were then told there was no food available because it was all pre ordered but we can watch the shoe and basically watch others eat from a far like if we were in the Christmas Caroll movie. After a while they were like we can get you guys a chicken meal. They must of called the chefs to see what scraps were available to throw something together for us. We requested a manager and well none were magically available. We asked for a refund and well because it's via eventbrite we need to request it from there. Well on eventbrite because it specifies there are no refunds now we have to fill out some sort of form and hope that the message was relayed from management to eventbrite to refund us. It was a very uneventful evening and this will cause lots of back and forth and phone calls to resolve this issue even though we were told it be simple. I doubt that this was even brought up to management and we were told anything just to get us to leave. Lesson learned ..stay away from shady hokey establishments that sell snake oil.

I could not tell you how much fun it was to be apart of the show. I had such a fun time, and met a bunch of new people. I have now done two shows and in progress of my third and it has lived up to almost all of my expectations for a community theatre company. Obviously, with community theatre, there will be set backs and unfriendly people, but it isn't about that. It is about the pieces of art that you bring to life on stage and the one thing you all have in common, which is the love of theatre. I would highly recommend this company to ANYONE who would like to watch a show or be apart of one!

I thought it was fun to be in a show at first, and I really liked the directors, but some of the kids who have been in a lot of these shows together are just real jerks! At first I thought it was just normal stuff that happens all the time. Like the leads pretty much ignored anyone who wasn't a lead, and they hang out together after rehearsal every night and never invited anyone else. I wasn't surprised at that stuff. But then some of them decided to have their own secret cast party at the same time as the cast party that everyone was invited to! They lied about why they didn't come to the party when they were really just going to their own special party. WTF. They could of had their special party any time. And I guess these same kids are the leads in pretty much every show, so I'm just not going to be in any more shows there. Maybe you think I'm a whiner and a big baby, and like, that's just life or whatever, but why should I spend my time with a bunch of people who think they're better than me? And you have to pay to be in the show, so now my parents are PAYING so people can treat me like that? No thanks. If you think I'm being a big baby, then YOU can pay $150 to spend six weeks with people who treat you like you're nothing. Also maybe you don't think it's not fair for me to review a place with few stars because the other kids are jerks, but I'm just here to warn you. It's clicky to be in one of these junior shows, so just know that going into it.

I'm sorry but when there are multiple communications about time frames and then you try to blame me (the customer) for the issue, there is a huge problem. I spoke to a manager (I think Caitlin) to cancel my event 2 MONTHS in advance when I realized that the time frame would just not work for us and she was extremely rude, essentially placing the blame on me. Sorry, but you are the manager and for you to try to place blame on a customer and not even try to take any level of accountability etc. then there is an issue. The way she ended the phone call was rude and unprofessional. She legitimately stated to me in a rude SARCASTIC WAY "good luck finding another company for your event". Sounding as if I wouldn't be able to... oh man, she was wrong because not only did I find another company for this event but that company has already been 100% better. Another perfect example of why I would NOT recommend this company for your Murder Mystery event. Also, not to mention that they over charge for a service when there are many other options that are better, more affordable, better at communication and willing to make sure it works for OUR event.

We had had a terrible experience trying to deal with a different company originally and we ended up having to find another company and I am so so glad we found the Mystery Cafe. First off, Brian, who is the owner, was just fantastic all around, responsive, accommodating, kind, and organized. The night of the actual performance, I did not feel nervous at all, he and I had communicated multiple times and also already tested all of the electronics weeks prior to the event, it went off without a hitch. It was fun because it did require audience participation, but it was not too high pressure and they made the atmosphere just so light and exciting and it was FUNNY! There was so much humor and I found myself laughing a lot more than I had thought that I would. 10/10 would recommend. They came to our event, there were 3 actors and I must say, I think that the cost was very fair and reasonable. Great time!
