After the same well-known chain auto repair company in Surprise failed repeatedly to properly repair my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, I had it towed to Litchfield Auto Repair. My sister has been their customer for several years and has always spoken highly of them, so I decided to give them a try. Jenny Bastanchury was my service advisor and provided excellent service at every step. The car arrived shifting hard and shuddering at low speeds. Litchfield Auto Repair's mechanics quickly discovered what the large chain shop missed. A damaged transmission bracket was causing excess vibration and had been destroying my motor and transmission mounts. There were also other issues that needed attention, and the team walked me through each one clearly. Litchfield Auto Repair diagnosed excessive engine movement and rebuilt the entire engine and transmission mount set-up using modified brackets because original parts for a 2000 Cavalier are no longer available. They replaced the left front CV axle, installed a new air conditioning compressor, performed a complete R134a evacuate and recharge service, and coordinated a full transmission rebuild. Per my request, Jenny tried to source new old stock parts for the job, but in some cases, they were not available. After all the work was completed, the Cavalier drove smoother and stronger than it has in years. Their pricing was fair, their communication was clear, and the quality of their work was outstanding. Jenny and her mechanics really listened to my input and provided superior service compared with what I had experienced at other shops over the last 12 years. This company went above and beyond to fix my AC. I was about at the end of my wits trying to figure out what was going on with my AC for my 2006 Chevy Tahoe. I had been to multiple mechanics and by this time had the entire AC system replaced, each one leaving me with a broken AC. At this point it had been 2 brutal summers without AC and I had spent over $6k trying to get it fixed. Phil, the owner of Litchfield Auto assured me that he would get my AC working. He was even a bit perplexed with the issue himself. After spending a couple days on it he finally figured out what was wrong. It turned out to be the head unit which I had already replaced more than 3 times. The only way he figured this out was by taking the head unit out of one of his personal Tahoe's of the same year and installing it in my vehicle. Apparently you needed an OEM head unit to run the AC actuators in the vehicle when they are mixed and the aftermarket ones I had been purchasing to replace my bad OEM weren't doing the trick. To me this shows incredible commitment and dedication to finding and solving an issue. I would highly recommend this auto shop to anyone who lives in Phoenix. We had a service light keep coming on and off on our dashboard and were concerned. It had something to do with an air filter. Every time we brought it to LAR the stupid light would not come on. We took her car to the local Toyota dealer and found out thar the alternator was fine and someone had removed a fuse, interesting. Avoid this place, like the plague. Took my truck. There was having transmission issues. Overheating. Explain the situation towing a heavy load. Days later they tell me they cannot duplicate the problem? I asked them how they were going to duplicate tow 8 to 10,000 pound trailer around? Oh, we didn't know that they said? Explained in detail to the person I spoke to you. Give us another day. We'll figure it out. Next day they tell me I need a new transmission they found one back east it will cost me almost $9000? I told them to get my car ready. I am picking it up. I told the trailer home which was in a different state. And six months later I am still driving the truck with no problems. Went there for a free estimate to replace bad rocker arm or lifter. Rene said they need to further inspect for $433 and that will go to repair. Rene called back and the only solution to fix would cost me $11200 with a bad attitude and bad customer service because of sludge in engine. went back to dealership and they replaced rockers lifters and 1 cam for $2900. We had been using Litchfield Auto Repair as our trusted mechanic since 2014. But all that stopped during 2018. I know this review is way over due, but our experience was far from an honest & fair one. We had 2 separate vehicles with separate issues, that we took into LAR at separate occasions. The first one had a blown engine. We weren't sure what the problem was at first since we had given this vehicle to my mother in law and it had broke down on her. LAR took a look at it and said in order to find out if the engine is blown they'd need to replace the head gaskets which was going to cost 4 figures $$$$! Basically we would have had to stay committed to fixing it if we went that route. We declined since it was too much of a gamble. We took it to another place and right off the bat they were able to tell us the engine was blown. They didn't need to replace no stinking head gaskets to know that information! I was upset to know the people we had entrusted with all our vehicles would do us like that. To me that's taking advantage. The second vehicle was the last straw. We had bought it used and taken it to be fixed and maintained for the duration of a couple of years. Finally we got tired of the same issues popping up and not getting fixed. The hoses were brand new, that they had replaced months prior. Yet when we took it over to them because of a overheating problem, they said we need to replace the hoses and clamps?! We decided park the vehicle and not throw anymore money into it. My uncle took a look at it one day and replaced the coolant and lo and behold it was fine. It was not overheating anymore. He said the hoses and clamps didn't need to be replaced?! He said there must had been a bubble in the coolant and it just needed to be drained and refilled. That was it for us, we were tired of trusting them to take our money and not fix the real problems. I had them work on my BMW. While there for another repair I had them look at my door locks. I didn't have the money to do the replacement right away so I told them I would have it done in the future. I noticed that they didn't replace the door panel properly so I went back inside to tell them. First they told me they didn't remove any panels. It works be impossible to tell me what was wrong with the locks without removing the panel. Also, when I first talked to them on the phone they said they WOULD BE removing them. In any case, when I went back into the shop it was near closing so they needed it another day. A bit inconvenient, but I left work early again to pick up the car. When I got into the car and pulled on the door, the lower I realized the lower part of the door panel was no longer attached. Because didn't want to take yet another early day from work and my frustration level is beyond measure, I just left. I will not be going back for another repair. read more

Litchfield Auto Repair is the best by far!! A few years ago, my car went on the fritz and the Gas Cap access wouldn't unlock. I took it to Litchfield Auto and not only did they get it unlocked, they diagnosed the problem, gave me a quote and gave me advice on getting the work done there or at home with my own mechanic. My father passed away a few years back, and now my 79 year old mother is left handling the household on her own, including two used cars. These guys have been Godsends in helping her out and giving great advice. She just took her 1994 Jaguar in after it hadn't passed emissions and they took a look. They notified her they couldn't find anything wrong, they advised her to fill the tank with premium gas and drive it for an extended time. They didn't take a dime.
