My neighbor asked me where my truck was and I told him it was at Wilhelm. He said he was sorry. I asked him, 'Why?' He said Wilhelm has been screwing people for years. Soooo ... I got my repair bill. They mark up the cost for parts by 3-4 times. For a water pump, they charged me $202.95. I could order a good water pump on Amazon for $51.88. For a serpentine belt, they charged me $172.92. The same belt on Amazon costs $50.78. For a belt tensioner, they charged me $368.99. On Amazon, the cost is $103.98. When I challenged the cost they charged for parts, I was told they buy really good parts, but in most cases, the part on Amazon was the same really good part. When I continued to complain, I was told that there are many automotive repair places and maybe I should take my business elsewhere. No need to tell me that. I'll never do business with Wilhelm again and I advise everyone to take their business elsewhere as well. read more

My wife's car needed some work none on it and it is our second car and not used much during the year. I had heard of Wilhelm but I had never used them before. I knew that the car needed AC work and an oil change. The service writer that I spoke with was very professional and got me an appointment the next day. After dropping the car, I received a phone call later that afternoon advising me that the tires on my wife's car had not been replaced since 2012. The employee told me that he could tell that we did not drive the car much, so he recommended a quality in house lower cost tire and not the expensive tire that the dealership had recommended. I have driven by this location a hundred times but never actually thought about using their services, I am so glad I did today. Wilhelm Automotive is in the heart of Goodyear and I can not say enough great things about them. My car has been acting up for a few days and I needed it to get checked out as soon as possible. I no longer wanted to drive to my previous mechanic as he did not seem to ever have time, he runs his business all alone and with no help and getting up there in years, it was time for new eyes. My husband called ahead to let them know what was happening and to set up the appointment. Of course, letting them know what was happening didn't really mean anything, they actually needed to take a look. We just knew something was wrong. They were very flexible with the times and I came in early. They even have a shuttle to get you back to where you need to go if you cannot wait for the repairs or diagnostic. They gave me a ride back and they were all so very friendly. When the car was done, they called me back and picked me up. When I arrived, they explained everything in simple words and very precise as to what needed to be done and clear prices. I was happy with the estimate and will be setting up an appointment in the next few days as we needed the car for the afternoon. I will recommend you try them out yourself. Been going to them for 2 years. My family and I have spent thousands of dollars on repairs. Wilhelm is always more expensive then other shops, but they pull in business because of their cheaper oil changes. My 19 year old daughter took her Dodge Ram in and had $5k in repairs done but didn't fix the problems. When she called them to tell them the problems still existed Wilhelm told her nothing was covered and that she would have to pay again to have it diagnosed again for $165. Outrageous! But I still went back. My vehicle was brought in two weeks ago with a check engine light. I was in the need of getting an emissions test so I just wanted the code cleared. Wilhelm told me that I would have to pay $165 diagnostic fee just to see what the problem was, I told them I just wanted to know what the code was, they said no, they would have to run a diagnostic test for $165. But just today, my daughters car had her oil changed there and when they called to tell us car could be picked up they told me that the check engine light was on and asked if I was concerned about it, I said no, and he then told me what the code was. I asked him why he could tell me what the code was now but not two weeks ago for my own car. He told me he didn't know why and when I questioned him (with obvious frustration) again he hung up on me. When I went in to get my daughters car I asked who hung up on me, no answers to who it was. When I questioned them about diagnostic/ code reading differences on my car and my daughters car they had no answer. I told them I was real tired of their shady practices and told them I had never been treated like this at other places, the guy helping said, "sounds like you belong there then" and walked away to get my bill. No customer service. I will never go back to Wilhelm. Terrible customer service, up selling to unsuspecting uneducated customers, especially to my 19 year old daughter, price gouging and total lack of consideration or respect for people spending hard earned dollars at their establishment. I took my car here to get a evacuate and recharge, I was able to pick my car up after I got off of work. It was kinda pricey because of the freon that I needed and it ended up being $456. My ac worked great for 30 mins and then started blowing hot air. So the next day I took it back after work and they looked at it and said they needed me to drop it off for another day and I can't do that im a busy mom of 3 and have a full time job. The guy at the front desk told me they just add the freon and they don't check for leaks, but on the paper they gave me says they checked for leaks. I feel like I just wasted $456 by going to this place. I feel like I should at least be refunded the labor. Now I'm paying $340 for someone else to fix it but at least I know I'm not going to get ripped off and it going to get done right read more

Always happy to have my car serviced here. I started to come here to just get oil changes done. I noticed how friendly and helpful the staff with the customers. Their customer service is great! The only bitter sweet part for me is that they are only opened M-F which work and kids makes a bit difficult to schedule at times but I also think it's great they give their staff the weekends off. When you do need to drop your car off they do have shuttle service to drive you back or pick you up. Their shops are aren't really waiting area friendly. Their pricing is fair and they sent out emails with coupons and offers often which is good too! When they service my car they will let you know what is suggested but doesn't feel like they are pressuring you to have things done. read more

I was stranded in AZ with a broke down car during a family road trip and they took me in immediately without an appointment and diagnosed my issue to a bad engine. I have used Wilhelm previously and found my recent experience was disappointing and unacceptable. I brought my vehicle in to request an estimate on a minor issue I may need repaired and was shell shocked when I received the estimate for thousands more than the car is actually worth. I asked of their estimate recommendation of services it needed first and they weren't willing to make any repairs unless the projects were in the thousands and not in phases so I could try saving since money doesn't grow on trees. I needed to leave with my car and it took a long time for them to pull the vehicle up and had me wondering what was taking so long. After 15 minutes of waiting, I drove home but the vehicle wasn't driving its normal way and then when I was home I left the car on and grabbed my sunglasses in the house. When I returned the car was off and it wouldn't start. The batter was good but the car was dead. When I called Wilhelm's and asked what was wrong with the car when I picked it up they said nothing was wrong and sait it didn't operate or even start. A few months earlier I came in for a routine check and the report from Wilhelm's was that the car was great and there were no issues. Wilhelm's wouldn't answer my questions about why the car stopped working when I arrived home after picking it up and wouldn't accept responsibility for anything. They said, if you bring the car in and have it serviced for an item equaling $1,500, I'd need to go to another automotive repair company. I went to Wilhelm on Litchfield 2 weeks ago on recommendation for a simple oil change and tire rotation. I was told they weren't scheduling oil changes until next week. I told the guy to schedule it for the following Friday. When I came back at scheduled time at 1:00 pm and asked how long and he said about 3 hours! When I asked why so long with an appointment? He said that I was scheduled for drop off. I told him I never scheduled it for drop off. I only have one car, so why would I do that? Besides, I was never asked if I wanted to drop it off. The purpose of an appointment is so that you can get in and out faster. I was treated like someone who did not have an appointment. He inferred that he'd try to get my car in and out faster, so I went for a long walk at a nearby strip center to kill time. I returned at around 1:45 hoping to see my car was almost ready but instead sat and waited another hour. Obviously, my initial encounter with Wilhelm automotive was not a pleasant one. read more

I took my 08 Hummer H3 Alpha (V8) in for a front end alignment two weeks ago at the Litchfield Park location. This was my first visit to this company. I do the majority of the work on my vehicles. I just replaced a lot of frontend parts over the weekend and needed an alignment. I called Wilhelm the next day on Monday. They said they could squeeze me in on Tuesday, which is great. They informed me they would need it all day. I dropped it off at 7am. I was surprised when I received a call around 10:45am to inform me my vehicle was finished. Here is where the 2 stars come into play. Of course a repair shop will look over the vehicle for needed maintenance which is good because they can identify problems before they are bad and more costly. The front desk guy started going over the frontend alignment and how difficult it was but the tech managed to get it dialed in. I asked him some basic questions about the alignment and he could not tell me because he did not know. How do you as a company have someone at the front desk guiding customers and not be able to answer questions. He moved on to the list of items needed quickly. On of the list was Rack & Pinion. It was wet which indicates a seal was leaking. Another was the rear brakes were very thin. Ok great I can handle the replacement of these items. He showed me the cost involved with each item replacement. I see rear brake rotors listed and brake pads. I ask did you measure the thickness of the rotor to see if they need replacing? He said NO, we just replace them. That is NOT how a brake service is performed. If the rotors can be resurfaced and the thickness is still within the allowed thickness, they do NOT need replacing. They are taking your money with parts not needed. On top of that, the price of each rotor was listed at $179. Brand new Genuine GM rotors are less than 1/2 that cost at $72 each. The brakes pads for the rear ONLY were another $150. I can't remember if there was a charge for labor or not. I am sure there was but can't quote it. So just to do the rear brakes was around $500 minus labor. Mind you that is just the rear. I could have bought all the parts and changed them out in less than an hour for less than half their price. The Rack & Pinion was priced $150 OVER a genuine GM factory part, and another $900 to install it. The total quote for all the repairs was $2250. I assume the replacement parts were NOT genuine GM Factory parts either which makes it even worse of taking your money. I am sure they WILL take advantage of the next customer who does not know and take their money. That is sad. I will not return to ANY of their valley locations. Other reviews I have read state the same thing. WAY OVER PRICED. Even above the dealer. read more

Could not explain what they were repairing and why, got frustrated when I asked quest to try to understand, and was extremely condescending in the way he spoke to women. They did work on my car that did not need to be done and misdiagnosed the issue. I went some place else for the same problem and was told the job they did had caused another issue in my car because they did not tighten or seal something. If you are a women, be prepared to be spoken down to by the manager at the front. He also proactively states that customers do not have to wear masks in the store even though the signs say masks required. read more

I had a very expensive water pump replaced on my BMW about a year or so ago that started leaking coolant recently, so I took my car in since the part was covered under warranty. The paperwork shows that they replaced the part, but when I got home, coolant started leaking out all over my garage floor again right away, and the low coolant warning lights came on. On top of a very poor repair job, they charged me over $60 for coolant, and come to find out they used the wrong coolant! They are supposed to use the blue BMW coolant for BMWs and they do not. read more

I brought my 2000 town car into Wilhelm Automotive on 12/21/2022 because of signs of a unknown leak in my driveway. I was told By Wilhelm rep over the phone that it was due to a leaking oil pan gasket and loose hose clamps on my radiator coolant hoses. I had them go ahead and do the repairs for a cost of$1016.55. Going thru my paperwork after I got my car back I found an itemized bill from 3/2020 where Wilhelm claimed to have done those same repairs plus more. between those dates 10536 mi had been put on the car. The first time the labor for replacing the oil pan gasket was $315.00 when they said they did it again in 12/22 they charged me $840 labor for changing the same gasket. an increase of about 166%. In 2020 They also replaced the radiator hoses that they found loose clamps on. Also in 2020 they claimed that they replaced the ball joints and did an alignment. My girlfriend had been driving the car on a regular basis but I drove it from Az. to Ca. in Nov.2022 and found the steering sloppy and took into an alignment shop in San Diego where I was told it had a bad ball joint they replaced it and did an alignment and it steers fine now. Took my car in for a check engine light, received a call a day later saying I would needed a new engine because my oil was low and they found metal in the oil which was the issue. Told me it would be 8k for a new engine and labor. After hearing this I took the car to a dealership for a second opinion, dealership said the check engine light was an engine misfire most likely cause by bad spark plugs. Spark Plugs replaced but misfires continued. Found a shop that actually ran tests that would diagnose the problem, needed a new head gasket. Head Gasket was fixed, saved myself $6,000 and car runs great. Have driven over 5k+ miles on an "engine that needs to be replaced" with no problems. Basically Wilhelm charged me for a diagnostic and never found the problem, just escalated it to I needed a new engine. Not sure if they even ran any other tests for the check engine light. read more

Took my car in for a wheel bearing replacement and was told the wheel bearing wasn't the issue but that I needed new shocks- was quoted WAY over standard market pricing for a simple rear shock replacement with the explanation that it's a lengthy process for my vehicle (it's 3 bolts per shock, but their front desk guy clearly had no idea what the process was and the mechanics were shady). Replaced my shocks and the issue is still persistent. Looks like I'll be having another shop that knows what they're doing replace my wheel bearing. Save your money and avoid this place unless you're looking for someone to rip you off. read more
