The owners are very kind and have somehow managed to bring hospitality at a high level into a fast causal corner cafe. You can get whatever you heart desires (scrambled eggs, black beans, plantain and pepper sauce is my usual) and if youre lucky you can get roti on some days. Highly recommend 10/10. read more

This has become one of our go-to breakfast spots as the food is always outstanding, the people who work here are lovely, and the prices are very reasonable. My husband and I would argue that their bacon hashwich on a brioche bun is the best breakfast sandwich in Greenpoint/Williamsburg but you really can't go wrong with any of their breakfast options. I'm also 99% sure they get their bagels from Bagel Point across the street which makes amazing bagels but terrible breakfast sandwiches so this is a win/win. read more

I had to cover a very far office in the Greenpoint area in the early morning all the way from South Brooklyn. I got there quite a bit early and was hungry and stopped by this unassuming joint. I looked at the menu and ordered their signature bacon hashwich on a brioche bun, on the cute little board. I got two, since it sounded like a breakfast sandwich that won't fill me up. Cost me $20. I waited maybe 10 minutes? Sweetest people in there!! I got myself freshly squeezed orange juice too. They also take Apple Pay so it was easy. The sandwiches were huge and I eat quite a lot for breakfast regularly. It was so good, that I dreamt of it for a good month before deciding to make it at home on my own. I don't think I can compare yet, but the eggs were so velvety, bun was PERFECT, the hash brown addition was actually genius lol & the avocados were just the cherry on top. I used to go here all the time but trimmed it to maybe only 2-3 times a year the last 4-5 years because it was getting very expensive for what little they gave you (even before the pandemic and inflation, that is). Now -- no more. They totally skimp on everything and charge you two arms and a leg. I don't even think there was any bacon on it, but tbf I guess they made up for it with all the mayo. This miniature turkey club and a small bag of chips cost me SIXTEEN BUCKS. I've eaten in as well as gotten delivery from Lite Bites. I really they they are a very underrated spot in Greenpoint. Eggs are cooked perfectly EVERY time. If you like scrambled, they do them PERFECTLY. Light, fluffy, just this side of fully cooked and not "custardy", not the slightest bit of overcooked/burnt. CROOKS! I ordered a $4.50 iced tea that barely fits a half glass . Most of it was ice , the nerve to charge people for ice and a drop of (disgusting ) dirty water they call iced tea. I understand why people who come here might not order the Trinidadian food on offer. I get it! Really I do! Actually, no, I don't get it at all. This place is all about FLAVOR. Say it with me, people: F-L-A-V-O-R. If you order a vegetarian plate of, let's say, spinach, pumpkin, lentils, and rice with a bit of homemade hot sauce on the side... well, you're getting four or five totally distinctive flavors that are all intensely wonderful. The meat dishes are great, too. The portions are generous, and watch out, because you're going to want to finish them. Maybe don't eat breakfast, then come here and gorge yourself - because you're going to want to. I don't really know what happens when they put that big oval plate in front of me, but a few minutes later I'm happy and can barely move. Good thing it's a long walk back to the office. By the way, the service is always friendly - maybe caring is a better word - and the owner has real pride in what she does. I'm guessing the Trinidadian food is what she's proud of most. The 3-star rating on this place is really DEAD ON. This is not a place you're going to eat at or order from and think about in the future like "wow... that sure was a good meal." They have tons of great menu options but are TERRRRIBLE at preparing seemingly everything they make. I've ordered from this place on nearly a half-dozen occasions and the result is always the same: The food will come to you and you'll realize just how poorly it was prepared in the kitchen. If I get a salad with dressing already inside of it, it comes OVERLOADED with dressing... like nearly half a bottle of whichever dressing you choose ... if you order dressing on the side... they don't give you enough, which is just a bad. If I get a sandwich, it will be prepared with as little care and attention to proper seasoning as possible. I decided to give this place one more try so I ordered one of their $10 Tuna Melts... the mayo tastes like they've been keeping the tuna pre-made in the fridge for a little too long... like it's beginning to turn... and I don't know what spices they used but whatever it is... it's just... aweful.... granted I'm an expert when it comes to making tuna, but I know this and so I'm usually quite forgiving when eating it made by someone else.... and this... this abomination of a melt was NOT worthy of the name "tuna." Someone needs to come into this place and teach the people in the kitchen what ingredients to use, how to properly store food and for how long. I don't see how I could order from this place again. I gave them too many tries to get it right already and if they can't even handle making a salad or a tuna melt properly, I just don't see the point anymore. You know. I was always a champion of Lite Bites.. I defended them because I thought they were actually a fine place with friendly, helpful staff. What happened? Seriously. Did it get taken over by a bunch of fifth graders? It has been so terrible lately that I can't even complete a thought. I've done pick-up orders for the past five years. All good... except the past five months. Items missing, being charged wrong, raw chicken, the cooks forgetting to cook the food I called about an hour previously, etc etc. Today, I've reached my limit. I called this morning and ordered a turkey club sandwich on whole wheat bread. I get there, I get my bag, I pay, I come home. I open the bag... it's an egg wrap with cheese and peppers.... I call them and tell them about the mistake and they say, "oh, well you weren't specific about the turkey club. that's the turkey breakfast special"... yeah, so, every turkey club ever has consisted of peppers, eggs and cheese, right? " come back and prove to us that there is no turkey in it" - NO JOKE. They told me to bring back my food that they screwed up the order of and PROVE to them that they screwed up the order. I come back with the food and I'm friendly to them and even apologize for the whole situation. I give back the wrap and then get a lecture from an employee about the differences in ordering lunch and breakfast, like I'm a feral child who just left the house for the first time. Fine, whatever, I just want my food. I wait a bit and the woman finally displays my actual order... "This is what you wanted, right?" and it's the club sandwich. Yes. That's what I've wanted all along. She then charges me the difference in price for their mistake. No compensation whatsoever, no admission of screwing up. I was paying the difference for their mistake. She even got pissed when I used my credit card, stating that there was a limit. I'm not going to take money out of your crazily-fee'd store ATM, because you screwed up my order and are making me pay for it. No. That's not how things work. She finally agrees to let me pay with my card and I go home with my turkey club sandwich. I'm starving at this point. I rip open the container and just begin eating the sandwich.... but... it's a little funny. Doesn't taste right. Oh, look, the turkey is PINK. The sandwich is completely pink. The sandwich looks like bubblegum on bread. Gordon Ramsay wouldn't even be able to dismiss it as raw, he would have a heart attack and die at the sight of it. It was so inedible. I truly cannot understand the poor reviews for this neighborhood gem! In my two year search for a delicious budget brunch in Brooklyn, nothing comes even close to Lite Bites. Since discovering this clean and friendly establishment, I have become a weekly regular. My favorites so far are their omelettes, whole wheat french toast, yogurt parfaits ($2.50!), fresh coffee, and french fries with gravy and mozzarella. This diner sized menu is gynormous so there's plenty more cheap meals to sample. As per the name, Lite Bites is not only lite on your wallet but on your stomach as well! All of their ingredients are fresh as can be, and this is one of the only places in the area that offers healthy alternatives. Of course, I can always hop on over to Momo's Vegan Lettuce Factory, but the healthy options are for my girlfriend...I would like some meat with my bacon, thank you!! read more

I used to order delivery from this place a lot when I worked in Greenpoint. That was last year, and I found that then, there weren't a lot of good cheap places that would deliver, particularly for breakfast. We would get a bagel platter with cream cheese, butter, etc, muffins, hard boiled eggs, and other typical office breakfasty things. All simple, but good. I particularly love their muffins in fact. I miss my morning cappuccino muffin. Lunches are also yummy from here. Their burgers and fries travel well because they deliver pretty quickly. Normally, I would avoid soggy fries and burger buns, but here they came out nicely. I like their sandwiches too, but the particulars escape me now, one year later. Absolutely solid diner offering a big range of brunch and breakfast items at prices far below the typical brunch prices just south of here. Therefore, heavily patronized by Greenpoint locals and smart Yelp folks :) They're particularly great because they substitute egg whites for regular eggs without any fuss, and there are more than a few options on the menu that can be made reasonably healthy (for a diner, of course). Their omelets are enormous, and the home fries are good. Do note that they use canned mushrooms in the omelets, which can be less than great, but their ingredients are otherwise fresh and satisfying. (Or greasy and satisfying, depending on what you're looking for. Hello, mozzarella sticks!) I always enjoy their pancakes, and their lunch items look really good, too.
