I called with questions before booking the tour & the gentleman on the phone was really helpful & even helped me pick the best time of the specific day i wanted to do the tour so we would catch sunset towards the end. You would think that $450 for two people for a 45-minute ride is a bit of an excessive spend. But let me tell you, this is an INVESTMENT in one of the coolest experiences you'll have. Having lived in L.A. for the past six years, I figured I'd done everything of importance: The Getty, all of DTLA, Hollywood, you name it. And in a yearly trip my Mom takes to come visit, I always try to find local spots and museums I haven't yet put on one of the many itineraries I create. It wasn't until I was searching for modes of transport to Catalina Island that got me thinking about helicopter experiences. And instead of going one way from land to island, I thought, "how neat would it be to see all of the Los Angeles basin from the sky?" After all, I'm as well-versed in the terrain from the ground, but how neat would it be to see it all from above? Far. Greater. An. Experience. Than. I. Could've. Imagined. We were checked in by Allan, who cheerily greeted us on a chilly Christmas morning (yesterday). He got us checked in, we paid our remaining monies, and off we went to met Rob, our pilot. Having done this for a few decades now, he was well-versed in getting us situated with a thorough yet concise safety instructional. And after a few charges to get the engine going, we were off! And boy, was it spectacular. Never did I think being in the skies of L.A. would be as exhilarating, and on this particular day (weather and smog conditions always TBA), this was truly breathtaking. From the mountains of Thousand Oaks, to the oceans of Santa Monica/Malibu, all the way to the tops of the highest buildings on the West, and finishing off at the iconic Hollywood sign, Rob did a fantastic job giving us a most treasured Christmas Day experience, one that I know my Mom and I will never forgot. We drove from North Fontana to Van Nuys and it was worth the one hour and forty five minute drive. We were running a little late because of an accident on the 210. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, my girlfriend and I were feeling adventurous so we made a reservation for the Highlights Tour. Although they provided directions in the confirmation email, the entrance to the parking lot was a bit confusing. Their sign was hard to see considering the placement and the surrounding trees. When we arrived, we were seated in their lobby which had AC (thank god) and refreshments. We had 2 pilots with us on our tour, whom were very informative and kind.
