Had a lovely lunch at Lito's Kitchen today! I was greeted warmly by the lady at the counter! She was so sweet and walked me through the menu. I asked for some recommendations, and I settled with the Italian sandwich! As for drinks, I wanted to try something different so I got the cucumber drink! I sat down in one of the counters, and the decor was so cute! It was filled with nice and kind messages. It was very casual and welcoming! I LOVED my italian sandwich! It was toasted perfectly! Walking in, I saw this place mostly specializes in their fresh baked bread. You can buy whole loaves of bread, and they even put out samples of the focaccia. The sample of focaccia bread was absolutely Divine. Spongy like a focaccia should be, with fresh olives baked on top, Right amount of olive oil in the mix. I ended up ordering a breakfast sandwich, and I was not disappointed. Some vegetables, the bread is truly the crown Jewel of the meal. Fluffy soft inside, Father toasted crackly outside. The chipotle sauce they use is out of this world! It's clearly made in house, and it has this bright lemony flavor that never fades. They don't add that much meat in this breakfast sandwich, but for $7, it's hard to complain. I came back an hour later because I couldn't stop thinking about the focaccia bread! It was just as good as the sample I had, except with more olives!! Because I was in the mood for dessert, I also ordered the oatmeal cranberry cookie. What an unexpected surprise! My son and DIL suggested giving Lito's a try today for lunch and I'm so glad we did. What a hidden gem of a sandwich shop in Garland! We were greeted as we entered, it has a small dinning room, it wasn't busy while we were there for a late lunch but did have a steady stream of people ordering take out. I ordered the reuben, it came out quickly but was smaller than it looked on yelp and online & doesn't come with any sides. The bread and sauce were very good but the corn beef was a little fattier than I would have liked(why -1). If we come back I'll try a different sandwich next time. What I noticed, while waiting, is that even at 2:00 there was a steady stream of customers and it is very clean and nice. So let's talk food- The first bite was the macaroni and cheese- I'm the harshest critic and it is so good and fresh! I will absolutely get it again! The second bite was of the barbacoa birria melt and OH MY GOD this thing was packed with F-L-A-V-O-R Filled with barbacoa and mixed with melty Swiss cheese, onions, jalapeños and muchrooms. All between two pieces of perfectly grilddled rustic bread. Add the consommé and it goes from amazing to EPIC- the elevation in flavor from that bite! The last bite was the grilled chicken avo club - and oh my- such a 180 is flavor- light and bright with the tangy chipotle mayo. No dry grilled chicken here! I ordered the Barbacoa/Biria Sandwich that had horseradish sauce, pickled onion and peppers. Absolutely great decision and tasty sandwich. I also order a side of beans and rice which didn't meet the same level of flavor. I ended up dumping the biria juice on it without much more success in bumping up the flavor.
