Have been staying in Crosslake since Friday. Decided to ride up to Duluth to see Lake Superior. We order med the bottomless chips and salsa, wife ordered the small Cobb salad, daughter ordered the little Angie's taco with rice and beans. I ordered the beef chimichanga. We had blood orange margaritas and frozen strawberry margarita. The beef chimichanga was outstanding, probably the best I've ever had. They forgot my wife's guacamole on her Cobb salad but got it out pretty quickly. The chips and salsa were great but be aware they aren't like normal chips and salsa, they are more like chips and pico de gallo (excellent flavor) The blood orange was great but the frozen strawberry not so much. Oh how I wanted to love this place..... Sat down with some hungry kids and zero chips and salsa. Asked 3 different people for them and 20 minutes in, drinks ordered and good ordered and still no chips and salsa. When taking our order the poor server didn't know any answers.... Can I sub zucchini "not sure" Can I order just grilled chicken and rice "not sure" Can we have chips and salsa..... hard no because we never got them Far too many amazing places to suffer here. I will not try again nor would I recommend it. I will say the server was super nice, maybe more training would help..... but it's a Mexican place you should def start with chips and salsa. Used to be our favorite restaurant when we started visiting Duluth. I ordered a Mango Arnold Palmer and it had zero flavor with no alcohol or even taste of it detected. Nachos were a pile of chips with beans and chicken. It had a decent flavor but with a scoop of sour cream and a scoop of pico de gallo, it was still very dry. With the added charges of 10.00 for food and beverage tax, our one drink and one plate with an appetizer, our bill was 70.00 for lunch! Love this place!!! One of the only and best mexican restaurants in Duluth. The fajitas are so yummy, I'm a vegetarian so sauteed vegetables for me and they are still so yummy. Some of the best drinks in Duluth as well in my opinion. The margaritas are yummy not too strong not to light. And there are so many choices. It's hard to pick just one. You end up drinking two to three different flavors just to be able to try them all. During Covid they are still safe, distancing us all from different tables and the servers are always wearing masks. Lots of hand sanitizers that made us feel way more safe as well. In a prime location just a block away from the lake. They also sell hot sauces which are yummy. I was with a tour group from St. George GOC. We were a table of 8 and one of the first and ordered right away, yet we were served way after other tables. Kitchen problem not wait staff and she was very good and attentive. I ordered the avocado chicken salad. I love the tangy dressing and grilled pineapple. I ate it all and it was a good size. I'd get it again and in general like the place. We chose inside AC, although the patio fills up about noon with the view. Avoid the fries, I had a few and they are very thin and dull. Not sure if they have accommodations to seat large parties but we were divided up. read more

This is a very sad review. Angie's was one of my favorites once upon a time. How far they have fallen. The Grandma's Group of restaurants has fallen. Not quite sure what happened, but the magic and good food is gone. PLUS - they started tacking on charges on your bill for kitchen help, etc. PUT IT IN THE PRICES TO HIDE IT YOU FOOLS. I jut want to say how bad and discriminatory this place is. On Saturday afternoon 10/12/24 my wife, my self and our 13 year old daughter went to grab something to eat at Little Angie Cantinas . We checked in with the host lady, we asked for table for 3. At that time there was nobody at the check in desk,. She told us to step on side and when they ready some one will take us to a table. We did what she told us to do. 3 minutes later place started getting pack. There was this couple that ask for table and the host walked then right away to a table. My wife and I just looked at each other, but we dint said anything. When she got back after sitting the couple that was there after us, there were another people waiting, the next people checked in and ask for table for 3, the host immediately grab the menus and walked them to a table, at that point we approached the host and asked what's going on, why if we were the first she was sitting other people that barely just walked in. She said nothing to us and started looking on the screen computer, after she was pretending to be doing something, she walked us up to a table, at this point We were mad already, because it was very ovious that because we were not WHITE and we are Hispanics , she completely discriminated us, we feel really bad and after we set we decided to leave. We consider to take a legal action so nobody has to go and feel the way they make us feel. We can't still believe what happened. T travel all over the country and other countries for business all year, and never ever had this issue and feel the way they make us feel this past weekend. I'll see all our legal options. read more

Yikes. I was so excited to have some "World Class Fajitas" at Little Angie's. This not what I got. There was a very sad thin pre frozen chicken breast cut into about 7 slices. This was on top of what I can only describe as a watery fajita soup that barely covered the "sizzling" fajita plate. Whatever spices they used were definitely not fajita friendly either. I couldn't put my finger on it but it was an off flavor for sure. My partner ordered her favorite, a chimichanga. Sad. Poofy tortilla with a minimal amount of chicken?, served with the most mushy, mashed potato like rice that was green like baby food next to some over cooked pinto beans doused in cheese. I know it's easy to complain but dang, this was rough. I know Little Angie's won't be heart broken but we definitely won't be back or recommending this place to anyone read more

I should have read the reviews before we decided to try this place. We came in on a Wednesday about 3:30 for a late lunch. Before I review the service and quality of food I think the biggest thing you need to know is they add 5% to the total of your check to pay the kitchen staff. As far as I'm concerned that should be included in the price of each menu item which are already overpriced. I have a feeling the servers actually take the hit on their tip. What they charge for draft beer seemed a bit high as did the food. We shared a plate of nachos, the chips were cheap store bought chips the nachos were just meh (because they started with cheap chips). The salsa was very salty and had no heat. The top layer of nachos had toppings but underneath was just a pile of chips. The staff were all very friendly and the service was good. The bartender even advised us to wait a few minutes to order another beer because Happy Hour was starting so I upgraded them to two stars. But what they charge for just plain sad food and then adding a charge to pay employees which again should be included in the menu price pretty much guarantees we won't be going back. Little Angie's My wife and I stopped here for lunch on our way out of Duluth after a trip to the north shore. Even given that this is northern Minnesota, this was hands down the worst Mexican restaurant meal I have ever had, and overpriced to boot. We ordered chips and pico for an appetizer, and decided to split a chicken fajita entree after being assured it was large enough for two to split, with an extra serving of beans and rice. When out meal arrived, the $20 "sizzling fajitas' were luke warm at best. They barely covered the small serving dish they were in, and were swimming in a watery broth (likely because the vegetables were undercooked and still giving up their juices). There was maybe a half of a small chicken breast in the dish, that had clearly been pre-cooked and then sliced and put on top. The vegetables included a sickly sweet red pepper (like the kind you might put on a relish tray and expect to still be there after your party because no one actually eats these things). Several of the peppers were still whole. There was absolutely no seasoning to speak of in the dish. Only one order of beans and rice arrived when our fajitas were served--we got the other one halfway through the meal. The rice was mushy and in clumps, resembling boxed instant rice, though it was probabluy just overcooked rice that had been sitting for a while. The beans were well cooked but bland. Though we had clearly indicated we were splitting the meal, we were initially served only three corn tortillas and they were cold. We asked for a new batch, which finally arrived with the second order of beans and rice--and our chips and pico appetizer. This place had a lot of outdoor seating, which is what drew us in. Don't be fooled. It is below average food, overprice, and poor service at best. read more

I have tried it multiple times, and I get it the tourist make it happen but the locals would like it to actually be quality. The flavor is not even Texmex. The salsa is pico with again no flavor! I've been here before and I've had their margaritas. They are delicious. The food from what I can remember is amazing as well. Over the weekend I was here with a few moms I don't really know but do love to drink. I myself ordered a water with lemon. Normally I'm the forgotten one. I don't drink and bartenders don't really see me as a priority. I can understand that especially when it's a busy Saturday night. But Jeff was AWESOME! He treated me like I was a paying customer. Refilled before I had to ask and gave me an additional lemon wedge. I ended up tipping him just because his service was exceptional. Really glad I didn't read the other reviews before visiting Little Angie's. If I had, I would not have tried it, and I'm really glad I did. Our server was attentive and friendly, and delivered food in a timely fashion. I ordered a house margarita, and although I ordered it on the rocks and received a frozen one, it wasn't worth returning because it was still a margarita and it was really good. We also ordered the chips and salsa - the salsa was probably one of the best I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. So fresh and well balanced. I had the beef tacos. I ordered one hard shell and one soft shell. Now I agree with some of the other reviewers that the ground beef was nothing special, but the tacos themselves were really good and flavorful. I ordered the "World Class" steak and chicken fajita's with pinto beans and rice. The meat was dry and over cooked. The beans had to be sent back to be reheated as thet were cold from the begining and by the time I could get some hot sauce my fajitas were also. I have never had such a tasteless $30 meal. The chips tasted like they were straight out of a giant Sam's Club bag-about a week ago. The food was bland and flavorless, and lukewarm. We waited about 15 MINUTES at the counter for it to be resolved. Cant believe how INCOMPETENT the staff is there, AND the lack of compassion or concern by the waiter AND the manager. NEVER going there again. Bet they make GOOD $$$ from other visitors, especially college students. Going to tell at LEAST 5 people how this place sucks.
