Probably some of the worst service I have had in a long time. No apology or accommodation. Don't eat here!

We went there Monday afternoon to listen to some live music and get some lunch. Worst food I have ever eaten, how can you mess up nachos? They were actually burnt. The waitress couldn't of cared less, and when I commented on it she said "The oven gets really hot" and walked away. The only positive thing I can say is the local talent was good. The place was dead but we couldn't get our waitress to take our order for 10 min. Don't go here for the service or food. read more

If I could leave a -100 rating I would, ABSOLUTELY the WORST service we ever had. Went in with a group of people and an older lady with a blonde served us with bad attitude right from the start, she treated us like shit the WHOLE time (like throwing the menus in the middle of our face and walked away), we could not get her attention because as she said she was "too busy." We were extremely nice to her and 3 tables who came after us left before, I tried to talk to a manager but some lady from the bar (short black hair) said she could help us, instead she ignored us and went right back to talking to other customers. What really got us was that the server ILLEGALLY wrote in a tip for the food on one of our bills (and I know it's illegal because I've served) I tried to tell that to the other women with short black hair but she said that it was mandatory but I know that's bullshit because they have to add it TO THE BILL not write it a PROCESSED credit card slip and then forged a customers signature so we crossed it off and will NOT be tipping that service or EVER stepping foot in that restaurant again!! read more

The Little Bear is a great place to hang out with friends and hear great bands that haven't made it big yet. Food is nothing to write home about, but it's a fun environment and great to have it local. read more

Food was awful. I understand the attraction is the atmosphere but referring to what I am pretty sure was a microwaved cheese sandwich as "gourmet grilled cheese" is just garbage. read more

Oh, man. This is going to be fun. The Little Bear had to be one of the strangest places I've ever visited. It was kind of like going down a rabbit hole into another world. We came here for lunch, which I'm assuming is not a peak time here, considering they have a stage and clearly focus on musical acts and lots of drinkable, domestic beer (bud lite, miller lite, etc.) That stuff is for binge drinking on a Friday or Saturday night. Anyway, the place is covered in sharpie, dollar bills and license plates, and no one working there seemed to want to be there or knew how to serve customers. It almost seemed like everyone was hungover. Our main server did tell us that they were short-staffed, and apologized for wait times (which were not actually that long), but the whole experience was just weird. When I asked what they had on tap, he replied, "Beer," with no hint of sarcasm in his voice. Yes, "beer" was his actual answer to what they had on tap. Thanks, dude. There was virtually no selection (see above regarding drinkable, domestic beer), so I ended up drinking water. The food was pretty good despite all the introductory disappointments, although we did order things that are pretty difficult to mess up: mozzarella sticks and burgers. My burger was overcooked (I asked for medium, and there wasn't a spot of pink in that thing) but everyone else's seemed cooked right or slightly under. We all agreed that the food was surprisingly good, but upon further reflection, I think this assessment had more to do with our hunger than the quality of food. I mean, if I'm famished, I might say ramen is delicious, but does that make the ramen delicious? I don't know. I do know that The Little Bear is a weird place, but I bet they bring in cool musical acts. read more

While the Little Bear is well known for it's great music, my sister, niece and I stopped in there for a bite to eat after a morning of hiking. The place is your typical mountainy joint with dollars on the walls and lots of hand written messages scrawled on the tables and booths by patrons. Ordered the chips and salsa at $6 and I had the bacon guac burger with an Anaheim chile on top. Service was fast and friendly, but when the app came we were a bit taken back that the chips looked homemade while the salsa was like Pace Picante--$6, mind you! It did get better. The burgers were incredible. Hand patted, thick and juicy! The bacon was nice and thick and the chile was roasted and tasty! On the side were hand-cut fries! Little Bear, salsa is cheap and easy to make and makes a better impression than opening a jar. If you go through great lengths with your burgers and fries, homemade salsa would be the icing on the cake for me. If you need me to come in and show ya, I'd be happy to do it! read more

I've heard this is the place to go in Evergreen. They must mean at night. Went during the day and was sorely disappointed. Terrible service and food wasn't much better. Go to Cactus Jacks down the road, food is amazing, and beer is nice and cold read more

This place is a hoot with a live band. Intimate seating with the stage. Food is good. THOUGH if you are craving Buffalo, call ahead as they run out. Definitely divey but a good time! read more

Years ago, when I first lived in CO, I would only ever come up to Evergreen to catch a show at The Little Bear and it was always great and always packed. Now 15 years and 4 cities later I am back in Colorado and living within walking distance to The Little Bear. What happened? It's the same 4 or 5 bands in rotation and it is usually nearly empty. It is really sad what this landmark has become. In a town with so much music The Little Bear could be so much more. read more

Great small town bar! We have stopped here a few times looking for a quick drink and typical bar food. The bartender delivers great service!

Stopped in to warm up on a very cold motorcycle ride. Ordered a pizza and some beer. The beer was good and the pizza tasted like cardboard. This is a fun place to see live music but I recommend finding someplace else for a meal. read more

The slowest service I've seen. We got there, a group of 9, starving. It took over an hour to get 9 burguers and they were really so so. The presentation was very messy and the quality... really, don't eat there. It isn't worth it. There are other very good places at Evergreen. read more

Went last night 8:30pm and wanted burgers but they said kitchen closed early. We missed it by 10 minutes. But we smelled food cooking and saw others being served while we were there! Too bad we love the burgers! Good music and musician took requests. 2nd time this has happened. read more

As a former resident of Evergreen in the late 70's through the 80's not only did i have my own special seat at the bar, I married one of the bartenders! What a great time in my life, teaching school in Idaho Springs during the day and having the time of my life listening to live music with Steve Raitt and the TC Jammers, Delbert McClinton, and Waylon and Willie now and then. I occassionally helped do the bookkeeping, had three bartenders as room mates and marrying one of them I was having a grand time. Don't know how the Bear's doing right now, but when I started bouncing there in '75 and then was told I had to start tending bar upstairs too (while still bouncing), the Little Bear was my home for half the day. Marvin was running the pizza place. Brent, Roger Rice and several others were bouncing with me. The locals were the locals and the "Instant Cowboys" from Denver weren't. The place was always packed from Wednesday thru Sundays and when folks like Little Feat, Willie and Waylon and others would play at Red Rocks, they'd often come up to the Bear afterwards. A lot of recording artist folks from the area would come to just chill out and listen to some great music from legendary touring Bear Bands like Cornbread, the Little Brother Band, the Desert Rose Band, etc. On Tuesdays through Sunday nights like clockwork, I'd have to go flying over the crowds to get to the inevitable fight on the tiny dance floor or bulging over the second floor railing at least four times a night. Mondays were always kind of quite. But those were some great times, killer music and fine buckle-polishing on the dance floor teaching those Denver beauties how to two step and two-three-two step. I met too many beautiful women and broke a couple of hearts, (including mine once) but that was the Bear for you. Sad to read that the Bear isn't quite holding up to its heritage. Horrible!!! I went here in a Saturday night to relax and relieve stress. I used the term 'bitch' in private conversation. There were two other tables of people, well beyond earshot. I had the wife of the doorman who was there on a 'date night with her 12 year old son' complain about my language in a BAR. She approaches me, uses multiple foul language against me, and somehow I get get out after her doorman husband tries to start a physical fight against wife and I. I will never go back. I went to this restaurant with my sister, aunt and uncle this past Saturday (November 4th). The 3 of them told me how great this place is and really talked it up. The ambiance is great, dollar bills everywhere with messages, the bras hanging over the live band area, stuff on the walls- really awesome. That's the only good thing about this experience. It was clearly busy, however we were seated pretty quickly. We had to wait for the table to be cleared- again not a problem as we could see how busy they were. The waiter took our drink orders (nothing major 2 sodas, an iced tea and water), however we received 1 cup of hot tea. And that took about 10 minutes. Once we received the hot tea, the waiter came back to take our order, however we hadn't been given menus, we got those a few minutes later. From there, a lady came around asking if she could help with anything. She also let us know she cannot take our order because she is not a waitress and she normally works in the office. We asked if she could get us our drinks, which she did- including holding them so her fingers were on the inside of at least 2 of the cups. The waiter then came back and got our order- again simple- 2 appetizers (1 of which would be an entrée), 2 orders of buffalo burger and fries and 1 sausage pizza. As we are waiting, the office lady is going around and helping where she can but letting everyone know "this is not my job I work in the office". After about 6 minutes, the waiter threw one of the appetizers on the table (literally threw it). About another half hour the office lady came out with the 2nd appetizer (the one that was supposed to be the entrée) and 1 of the burgers, however couldn't tell us what it was and left again for about 5 minutes, then came back with both of those and the 2nd burger having confirmed what they were. As we were eating our cold meals, they then brought out my aunt's pizza that looked as though it wasn't cooked all the way and was most definitely not sausage. Not a waitress said maybe it was just spices. She did offer to get a new one made, my aunt declined. At this point we had to ask for refills for the 3rd time having not gotten any the previous times we had asked. My uncle asked for the check, 15 minutes later we still did not have it. We asked 2 more times. When my sister asked to speak with a manager, not a waitress said there was not one available and asked if there was anything she could do. My sister said that we had been asking for the check and we just want to pay the bill so we could leave. Not a waitress again said she isn't a waitress (apparently her name is Jessica) and she would try and find it. At this point my sister blew up (expletives were used) and said she didn't care if she wasn't a waitress, we just wanted our check so we could pay for the crappy service, food we didn't order and the cold food we did get. At this time, Jessica (not a waitress) brought over the check and said she comped the food and it was free. My sister asked for the managers name, and Jessica then lost it and said "We are comping your meal. Just say thank you and leave, then go home and write a shitty yelp review or whatever else it is you do in your spare time." At your request, here is my review. I understand they were busy and understaffed. I get it, it's hard. However, Jessica, who made it abundantly clear that she is not a waitress and this is NOT her job, you would have had a much easier go of it if you had said "thank you for your patience" instead of "this is not my job". read more

Food was okay, music was okay, cover charge a little high for small bar, especially for early show. I wouldn't go again due to the unhelpful and rude manager. My friend accidentally left her credit card there Friday night, and when we called Saturday we were told that we had to wait and call the next morning at 10 a.m. when the manager came in as she had already left for the day and no one else could open the safe where it was kept. Luckily we were not leaving until Sunday, so we were okay with that. Then we showed up at 10 a.m. the next morning on the way out of town to catch a flight, right when the manager came in, and she said she couldn't help us until an hour and a half or so. Refused to open the safe for us! Did not care that we were leaving town, was downright rude. So we had to leave without the card and my friend had to cancel it. What if it had been a drivers license that would have been needed to fly? Due to the manager, I would not go back, and I would refer anyone I know to go someplace else.. read more
