I met a guy in Baton Rouge La. in 1982, he told me about the Little Bear and told me he was moving there. By the grace of God I was working in Denver the next yr. I went to the Little Bear and he was working the door (Jeff). Ive never had as much fun anywhere else. Great people, great music. I didnt much care about the food. The bartenders were exceptional. I am not sure if only having one waitress on staff is the norm, but it is not a good route to take. We walked in and were told to sit in the assigned area, with the waitress repeatedly saying that she was the only person working and she needs everyone consolidated. My fiancé asked what ambers they had on draft and she responded with "I don't know. I don't drink beer. You'll have to look." We then asked if she had a list, and she said that she lost her list on Saturday. We decided to pay for the drinks we ordered and leave. Great place to go after a hike. They have live bands and awesome atmosphere. You will find bikers, locals, tourists, etc. Their burgers were huge and juicy. They get some pretty good bands according to their website. Your server was friendly and efficient. We will be back. read more

Lol...nope, nope...never again. I've been to The Little Bear a few times within the last 20 years so I kind of knew the lay of the land. We went last Sunday (9/6/15) and the place was about 1/2 full. We arrived at around 1 pm and since we hadn't eaten at all that day, we were pretty hungry. My fiance had never been here but had heard of it so he said he wanted to check it out (it was his birthday,soooo...). I've always been kind of 'take it or leave it' about this place, but it was his day, so to The Little Bear we went. We walked around for a couple minutes trying to find a table that looked not only clean, but not crowded up against another table. We found one somewhat near the door, and though it appeared the cleanest, when we sat down I touched the table and it had sticky spots. I look around and we see food on the floor, on a pillar...etc. Ugh. If I hadn't been ready to gnaw off my arm in hunger, I would have insisted on going somewhere else. My fiance looked somewhat wary at this point, but we stayed. The super disinterested waitress came over to take our drink order and dropped off a couple of plastic covered menus. I looked at them with apprehension, as I assumed they would be sticky also. They were not...hallelujah. She dropped off the drinks and we ordered. Then we waited. There was a guy that started playing about 5 minutes after we arrived and he was ok. Kind of John Denver-ish. I actually liked John Denver and his style of music....in 1976. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the Chicken Tenders, and for some reason I assumed they came with a side of fries or something. My mistake for not knowing this, but I don't think I've ever ordered tenders, and got just tenders. I'm not knocking off any stars for this, as it's my mistake. It just seemed weird. Anyway, the chicken tenders were actually very good. They were a bit dark (maybe the grease was a tad too high), but the chicken was not over cooked. The breading was thin, which I really liked, as I'm not a fan of really thick, crunchy coating on my chicken tenders. My fiance ordered the Patty Melt, and he enjoyed it as well. It came with a side of fries, so I was able to enjoy a few of his fries with my tenders. So the food was ok. Once we finished and our baskets were empty,our waitress came over and asked if we'd like a refill of our diet cokes, which we happily accepted. We also told her that we were ready for our check. We sat and waited a few more minutes, then she came by and picked up our empty baskets. We once again let her know that we were ready for our check. We waited about another 10 minutes...seriously, and she finally dropped our check off. So the service, though friendly enough, was slow. And the place is filthy. Filthy, filthy, filthy. The floors, the tables, the walls. Everything needed a real good scrub down. And it has a stale smell to it. I totally understand that this place is 40 years old and things deteriorate over time. Especially if you have a crowd every night. But that really is no reason to have stuck on food on multiple surfaces of your establishment. Hey 'The Little Bear'...this is some free advice that my parents used to tell me when I was younger. Have some pride in yourself! In other words...put your best foot forward, put forth your best appearance, and don't rest on your laurels. These day's your a tourist attraction more than anything else, so you don't have to put your best foot forward because you probably don't depend on repeat business. But wouldn't you want to have a nice unsticky place? That doesn't smell? Because of the filth and slow service, I'm giving this place 2 stars. read more

This place defines the term "dive bar" with a twist. They have the best bands from anywhere and everywhere playing here all the time. This is one of the best places to watch a live show, within mere feet of the stage. One of the best party atmospheres anywhere. Located in downtown Evergreen, in the foot hills of the Rocky Mountains.....this is a true mountain town circa the times of the gold and silver rush of the 1800's. To describe this place is nearly impossible. If you find yourself in the Denver area, visit the Little Bear on a Friday or Saturday night. Oh, the food's pretty darn good too. read more

Surprisingly good food! Rustic transient vibe. My wife and I stopped in for lunch driving through town for a quick bite and were very happy with the taste and portions. Everything is made in-house, including the French fries! Hand packed burgers and Italian sausage hoagies made on premise. The atmosphere looks as if it hasn't been touched since the doors opened 40+ years ago and that's what makes it cool. The furniture and walls are littered with scrawling carved by past patrons. Many of the booth seats look like they've been repaired with duct tape more than once. This is a live music venue but there weren't any acts on stage at about 1 pm which was no big deal to us. Very old building with lots of charm. Would like to come back this summer and enjoy live music. read more

The Little Bear is the place to be! If it's 1970 or if you were kickin it there in 1970. It's where the tourists go. It's what people ask about when they hear you are from Evergreen. For me and my friends, it's just mostly done. That said, I don't hate it. But meh, I can skip the cover and/or enjoy good--and better--music elsewhere. Sorry, but that's just how it is. In my experience, the under-30s crowd goes there for class reunions of sorts when they are home for the holidays. That's really the only time I've been there, and I'll admit that there was some good dancin to be had--so they get an A-OK from me. read more

We went to the Little Bear to listen to one of our favorite Colorado bands. At the start of the band's performance the Little Bear had a big screen hanging down to the right of the band facing showing a golf tournament (very distracting ) with the sound down, very gauche in extremely poor taste . We went to this place on a Friday around 3pm. The place was dead so we expected good service. The waitress was very rude and insulted me right off the bat. She was pushy and rude. We ordered and she didn't asked how we wanted our food cooked and then corrected me when I asked for a side of fries. The food was not very good and the service was even worse. We were over charged for sure. We ordered a burger and chicken tenders, the only flavor of the burger was BBQ sauce, and the tenders didn't taste fresh at all. We visited this little bar during our 4th of July weekend to Evergreen, CO. I wanted to take time to write about this after I had come home to be constructive. First of all the live entertainment was great. The food and my drink was also pretty good for what is quite a dive. However, there was essentially no service. There was one waitress who was swamped and clearly not someone who could keep positive or be a hustler in her situation. She never acknowledged us or asked for a drink or food order. My boyfriend ordered everything for us at the bar. When our food was up the bartender waved and then didn't give it to me so I went up to the window and pulled my own ticket. The kitchen guy was like "uh, is this your food?" And I'm like, "she waved me down, let's hope so". Additionally, literally allllll of the tables were dirty and she did not pre-bus anything. It could be because I grew up in the service industry that I was a big pre-busser myself but the sheer fact that she would deliver new drinks and walk by empty tables full of beer bottles or pitchers and not grab them on her way back killed me. Work smarter not harder. Keep up so you don't end up in the weeds and have to catch up. This appeared to run off a lot of business. And for a Sunday at 1pm, when it was raining, and people were coming inside, this could have been a lucrative day shift for the bar. It took me a lot to not offer help. Hopefully, some changes are made, for more staff, and to motivate who is there. The kitchen was not that busy. Someone could have came to help her. However, had she made the most of those tables, it wouldn't have gotten so bad in FOH. I spent 9 years busting my ass though college at 2 bar & grills at a time. I get how Holiday weekends can be. Girls call in. Place gets swamped. Staff doesn't want to be there. But if you do it right it doesn't get like that. And people (tourist money) comes back and still gives you their business. I'm a good tipper. The woman should have waited on us or at least tried. It's always the people you don't acknowledge that would have given you the money. We look young but we both were in the service industry and believe in tipping karma. Pretty understanding people. Music was good. Food was edible although fairly unappetizing looking. The restaurant was dirty and not in a good way. The service was here pretty awful. We got there at 11:35 and got out order in within 15 minutes. It took us till after 12:30 to get our food. We had small kids with us too so it made the wait all the more painful. There was another waitress whose tables seemed to get their food in a timely manner, but not the ones from our waitress. Another table near us with the same waitress got up and left. Our waitress informed us that parties over 6 people had an 18% gratuity added to their bill. Ours was over 6 only because of my infant twins who we didn't order for. This rustic bar is a must see in the mountain town of Evergreen,CO. Surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery and the small Colorado mountain town vibe it is a wonderful spot to explore while being only a short distance from Denver proper. The interior shows a great deal of personality with antique signs abounding amidst the plethora of patrons signatures bedecking every reachable board foot of the walls. The staff is quite friendly and willing to help with any request made of them. If your interest include live music then this is truly a place for you with great musical talent displayed nearly nightly by local and visiting artist. Pool table located upstairs round out the experience of this rustic old timely bar in the heart of Evergreen. With all this being said, and as this is a review of wings across N America, the wings were not mind blowing. Leaving no choice of flavors to choose from the wings come out in a standard plastic basket accompanied by a side of ranch/blue cheese. The flavor of the house appears to be some mix of Franks Red Hot Sauce and an in-house addition. While the size of the wings is indeed a plus of this place, the wings themselves do not amaze the palate. Nor too does the heat attract much comment save that there is hardly any. As you may know from reading the reviews i have made of other restaurants I am of the opinion that to be truly termed as "hot" a sauce must cause sweating and panting within the first minute of consumption. These wings certainly do not make the cut in this respect, I give them a 1/5 peppers for heat and the bar itself an 8/10 stars for atmosphere. In addition to the the wings the other bar food, and this place certainly qualifies as a "bar food" establishment, was quite good. Th best item being their fried mushrooms which were in truth, finger licking good. I recommend heading this way if you're ever in the area, if not for the wings then certainly for the atmosphere. read more

Traveling through Evergreen last October and decided to find somewhere to eat and up pops 'The Little Bear' on our GPS and we couldn't resist because we had named our kitten Little Bear. It was the middle of the afternoon on a Thursday and we loved it. The bar was quiet with just one guy behind the bar. We drank a pitcher of beer in our red Solo cups and ate a burger and fries. The place is a real landmark and worth the trip. Don't expect anything fancy cause this is just a bar and doesn't pretend to be anything else. read more

I had lived in the mountains for a few years, and can't believe I'd never been to this place before! I finally came out for a Sunny Ledfurd show, and had such a great experience. The drinks were poured strong and very appropriately priced. They didn't have an ATM and didn't take a card for the cover charge, but did allow me to put the cover charge on my bar tab (which they did take cards for.) They have 2 pool tables upstairs AND a foosball table! The upstairs overlooks the stage and gives you such a great view. The wooden log seats give it such an awesome vibe. The sound in this place is amazing. The people that were there made my experience even better - I'm pretty sure most were locals. Didn't try any food there so I can't comment on that. But everything else about the place - top notch. I'll definitley be back. read more

Worst service I've ever had. Came in with a group of friends who are all servers. Got treated very poorly took 10 minutes for drinks and when we asked what was the quickest thing to order the server says "I have to ask the kitchen". When we goy the bill she put it all on one tab when we clearly asked for separate tickets. She placed the ticket in the table and said "you guys can figure it out".
