There are three things I look for in a pub, and I'm going to address them individually…read more Food: Extremely reasonably priced is an understatement. Menu is average sized, food has always taken only a couple of minutes (I frequent during lunchtime), and I always leave full for under $10. Quality of food is consistent and delicious. What more can you ask for? Beer/Liquor: I'm a beer nut. I'm of this generation. If I walk into a place and see mostly domestics on draft, I won't hang there. Currently, Bud Light and Yueng Light are on tap, complimented by 4 popular craft beers. This is a completely reasonable combination. However, I feel like this place pulls through with the bottle/can selection. The person managing the bar understands the importance of variety in beer, and has good taste themself. There's a nice combination of Southern Tier, Dogfish Head, New Belgium, Ballast Point, Troegs, and more, making up a good mix of local and Anheuser Busch/InBev products. Atmosphere: Mama is a sweetheart. Greeted politely and comfortably every time I'm in, and she's pleasant to talk to and just bullshit with. She'll tell you how's she's grateful for her customers and you can't help but accept her for one of your own. There's no reason to not spend $15 and grab some food and a craft brew at the bar. It's probably the best one in Uniontown.

It's been many years since I have been able to get to Caporella's. The last time I was there, it…read morewas at the old location on Rt 51. We have tried many times over the years to get to the new location, but it is so difficult. Especially when you have kids and family events, and have to plan two weeks ahead in order to get them to give a reservation. Be forewarned, make a reservation! You cannot just decide to go to dinner one night and choose Caporella's....at least we've never been able to. For our visit this time, we really liked the location. It is definitely beautiful. Our service was good, as well, while we were there. It was just the wife and I with our youngest, since she was a last minute add-on to our planned date night, and the server was great with her. Food wise, some things impressed, some did not. I do not feel the quality of what I had this time matched the stellar experiences I used to have at the old location. The price tag on few things, as well, didn't measure up. Let me explain. For appetizers: The Beans and Greens were still literally the BEST I have ever had in my life. Their version still stands for what I measure all others against. The Cheese Logs were good albeit crazy for the price, and breading was super heavy on them. For Soups: We had to try the French Onion Soup, as we always do anywhere. It was..eh. Reminded me of a beef vegetable soup with some onions thrown in. There was no depth to it like a stellar FOS would have. It reminded me of something that was just thrown together really quickly. For Dinners: I had the Chicken Parm. Chicken was good, but I really did not like the spaghetti sauce. I'm picky, and it probably is just "me". I don't like tomato-y canned tasting acidic marinara. The wife had their version of a Chicken Piccata, her usual go to, and hated it. She took it home, and I ate it for lunch the next day. It was very sour. Daughter had gnocchi, and liked it. For Desserts: A spumoni, which was great, and a Tiramisu. HATED THAT. I was under the impression it was going to be Tiramisu....not a dry as a bone tiramisu-flavored cake. Was the first time you would hear me say I was very thankful for getting such a small piece. Would NOT get again. Overall, I am not sure if I will be going out of my way to go back again for anything other than those Beans n' Greens. They really are amazing. But, for anything else, the price tag and what we received this time was not going to draw us back again vs. other options in the area, compounded with how difficult it is for us to get there with the reservation-must-have. It's good, but not THAT good.

It's always great finding hidden gems whenever we make our roadtrips. Here we are in our hotel amongst so many chain restaurants and we do not do chains. Following Yelp reviews we made a list and then checked it twice, yup for real with a local who works at the Hilton in Uniontown. When went with low to medium expectations and had that blown away as soon as Kameron made his intro never saying no to anything we were asking about. For our dinner we started with the crab special, gorgeous chunks of finished in a balsamic reduction. For my main, I had the walleye special and the fish was cooked to perfection very lightly breaded lightly fried, extremely moist, tender, and very tasty and beautifully plated against the side of vegetables. My wife had grilled chicken penne à la vodka that she absolutely loved. We were on such a good role and enjoying ourselves with our bottle of wine as well that we decided to order coffee sides with espresso and a lemon Raspberry cake that our surprise was so amazing. We actually did finish it. Please see photographs of our beautiful meal and since we were in the area for a couple days, we are going again during this trip .
