I would rename this The Beeth Oven after the fabulous Bill and Ted movie, because this was like stepping back in time, but in a totally excellent way. The Most Triumphant dish? The Pizza Fries. These fried dough "egg rolls" contain pepperoni and cheese and are served with a most excellent red dipping sauce. They used to be called Pizza Fryes which was a take on the Historical Dude Founder's name. The Wedding Soup was also a favorite. It was loaded with meatballs and all the other goodness wedding soup has. I had a bowl because I knew it would be good. The pizza wasn't my favorite, but I was already kinda full from the other stuff too, so it didn't get a fair chance. I was kinda bummed they didn't use pasta as a straw. So much fun drinking that way. Love the extra carbs, but I can understand why they went with regular straws. They still serve soda pop in mason jars though. Be Excellent to Each Other! Delicious Italian Comfort Food. The food here is really good in this Family Style Italian Restaurant. I visited on a Friday night and was seated quickly. Entrees come with salad and fresh bread. I ordered the Stromboli Deluxe and my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were delicious and the portions were large. This is very good Italian food and the prices are fair. The restaurant itself is a bit old, but it was clean. The restaurant's decor could really use a refresh, and the men's room needs an overhaul. This is a nice place to eat. read more

Decided to try the Italian Oven in Connelsville. What a treat. Looks small from outside but, is bigger inside. We had a wonderful server, Kate who was friendly and patient with us for our first time visit. She brought our beverages and checked back as we looked over the menu and specials. We settled on a crab and shrimp linguine and chicken Asiago. Looking around, there was a familiar feeling to the restaurant. The checkered black & white and red detailing. We also noticed many diners seemed to have a good relationship with servers. This gave us a feeling of comfort knowing diners obviously were happy at this restaurant. Our dinners started with a salad or cup of soup. Once our dinners arrived we knew we were in trouble because there was a lot in each bowl. Please come hungry. Both dinners were very tasty. Yum! We were in the area and tried this place based on reviews. We ordered the cheese sticks, breadsticks, cheese pizza and eggplant parmesan. The cheese sticks breading was awesome, but unfortunately they must have exploded during cooking so each cheese stick was hollow. The breadsticks were delicious, I think they were made from pizza dough. The cheese pizza was okay, there was a meaty flavor that I couldn't pinpoint (no meat was on the pizza). The eggplant parm was reaaaaaallllllly good. We loved the marinara sauce and the ranch deserves a shout out too! We will definitely be back to try some other dishes! read more

Ordered the Chicken with Fresh Veggies, 2 of them, and when I picked it up it was $43. I remembered it being 17 something When I questioned it she said that's how much it was. I looked at the bill. It was 17 something but then I charged an addl $3 for each meal to ADD CHICKEN to the "Chicken with Fresh Veggies". When I pointed that out she told me I was being nasty and not to come back. Apparently this is the last location left. It has the traditional "old school" Italian American design inside. The dining room has a view into the pizza oven area and has a variety of seating options including tables and booths. The reason I didn't give four stars was the service. It was obvious there were regulars and also very obvious that they had much better attention than we did. I had to ask for the bread basket everyone else was automatically brought and it wasn't noticed when we needed refills on drinks.. The food was tasty (I choose the make your own pasta) and the portions big. Definitely order their specialty, the fried zucchini. It's seasoned and fried to perfection. I'd probably visit again if I was in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to go back. read more

Quick, friendly service. Good sized portions of very tasty foods make this restaurant a hit with me. There's a menu pick for almost everyone. All four of us were extremely impressed with the taste s of our food, different flavors of pasta. The sauces were all delicious. The bread that came with our meals was very tasty. My only complaint is that there is no gluten free pasta available. This would be my complaint with most establishments. Nothing to write home about. It was good, not great, but good food. Chicken Parm lacked a lot of flavor and the sauce was kind of bland. My wife and I were passing through and this was our first and only visit to this place. She had the lasagna and said she's had Lean Cuisine that was better. It was bland and mushy. My Fettuccini Mediterranean was horrible, especially for $17! The tasteless pasta was dry on the top, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, but on the bottom of the bowl it was all stuck together like it was unstirred in the pot. There were only 4 or 5 tiny, tough shrimp, canned sliced olives and tasteless "sun-dried" tomatoes. Consider the McDonalds up the street before going here, you'll be less angry. read more

I was so excited we stop waited for an hour for a table but the was ok I knew the was going to be that good. Order the Tuscan bruschetta for the appetizer it was delicious. I grew up going to this establishment. One of the highlights of my childhood. I went with my father and my newborn and I got the chicken penne with oil and garlic. It was drenched in what looked like whirl the stuff big restaurants use as butter that's so bland. As I was inspecting my dish I found a dead cockroach in the puddle of oil. Well where do I begin. Let me Start by saying I waited an hour for my take out while I sat there and had half of my order come out and go in a hot box and the other half come out 45 minutes later for the hostess to argue with me about my food taking so long and coming out cold. Her response was " well it was in the hot box". Then while sitting there for an hour the place was at 100 percent capacity, when the law only allows 25% max right now. (Let me just say I don't agree with the states rules, but other restaurants that do follow them will face harsher punishment because of places like this that don't). Not one of the staff had masks, gloves, not had disposable menus or even wiped off the tables in between customers as a minimum. I ended up taking one bite of the food and it was terrible. I did not even eat anymore of the food as it looked like someone who has no idea how to cook prepared it, and ended up tossing it in the trash. I don not recommend going here if you want a safe place to eat and something good to eat. Their are plenty of other places in Connellsville that are much better and are much safer. I try to support all our local businesses during this trying time, but I will not support this one that is hurting the restaurant industry right now instead of helping it. read more

My parents used to bring me to the Uniontown location when I was younger. Their food was great then, as a kid. Today I revisited this location and nothing has changed. The baked ziti is absolutely one of the best dishes they offer. The service is courteous and swift. This location is much smaller and more intimate than that of the one I remember; that's a good thing. We thoroughly enjoyed bloating ourselves and will be back many times when traveling through. read more

I went to Have a nice meal. I was greeted by a very tall waiter, guy could be a lineman for the steelers! Very nice friendly guy. As soon as our menus were handed to us he asked if he could get us some drinks or perhaps put a appetizer down. Well, quite frankly I hadn't a chance to open my menu so I couldn't tell the man if I wanted a appetizer. He came back in less than 5 minutes ( menus still open!) and asked if we are ready to order?? I mean where does the common sense come in?? So I said to him, my menu is Open... and he said," So I don't bother you, you can place your menus down when your ready! " polite, but I would have thought when trained, or even as a customer somewhere else, you would never appreciate to rush a customer or be rushed by a waiter. So he put the wrong dressing on my wife's salad ( italian, instead of vinaigrette) and of course my wife hated to bother him. For the rest of the meal I was in the desert. Not a ask if we wanted a refill on our very small jelly jar glasses of pop. I did all the tell tale signs of putting the empty glass at the end of the table which he walked by 4 times and ignored. Finally a mgr. walked by and saw the empty glass and asked if I would like a refill. Thank goodness for little miracles. What a fabulous surprise! We were up in Ohiopyle, rafting with some friends, and came back to our motel to clean up before getting dinner. We were at a loss about where to eat - there were quite a few restaurants back in Ohiopyle, but that was a 30 minute drive away and we were all ravenous. So we checked yelp and Italian Oven was the clear winner there. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was terrific! The portions were hearty (which was much appreciated after a day of activity!), the service was excellent, the prices are pleasingly low, and the food was top notch. Our waitress brought us the always-free herb bread plus a complimentary order of garlic bread along with our drinks. The garlic bread was not what we expected; it was more like a white pizza with garlic. It was delicious though, with a delightfully crisp crust (and not overly-cheesy or greasy at all.) All of us had pasta entrees and every one was perfectly cooked and delicious. The entrees come with a side salad, and the restaurant has a pretty awesome selection of dressings. Most of us were way too full for dessert, but a couple of troopers ordered the cheesecake. I tried a bite and wow! Such good cheesecake! It was light and fluffy, with a little bit of a citrus-y flavor. The next time we're in the area, we'll definitely be back. I am very curious about the pizza, after sampling their garlic pie, and this time, I'll save room for a piece of that cheesecake! read more

Ugh. I either hit them on ANOTHER off day or they have seriously declined. It really pains me to not give this place a higher rating -- I like the people who own this place. They are ALWAYS there and it always looks like they are working hard. But man, today was bad. We got there at 3 pm. Throughout the course of our time there, there were maybe 8 tables. Some where there before us, some came in after. All I can tell you is - our service was polite, but poor. My salad plate was never cleared, our drinks sat empty for 10 minutes. Nobody checked to see how the food was. Nobody brought us a check, offered dessert, or to go boxes -- it was pretty miserable. It appeared our waitress was waiting on ALL the tables -- but PLENTY of people were just standing around. In terms of the food: Pizza fries were good this time! The bread was good. The salad was ok. The calzone was pretty meh, but saved by the sauce in was served with (which was good). The pasta and greens was horrific. I can't tell you how the mac and cheese was, as they were out. Really what stands out to me was the pasta and greens it was on their special "spring menu". My noodles (which were to be linguini according to the menu, but I was give angel hair, which I don't like at all) were absolute mush. The spinach was very clearly from a box (there is no excuse for that -- it takes 2 minutes to wilt spinach and it is in season this time of year), the garlic -- there was lots of little diced pieces of garlic and yet -- nothing tasted like garlic. That pretty much only happens if you are using a pre-chopped product that is old. So, there's that. Ugh, I'm just going to stop now. I hate to say "don't come here" because even at its worst it is still probably better than any other place in Connellsville, but it's really not ok "A-ok": Also they gave us each 3 menus a person! 3! A couple of friends and I dropped by this lovely place for lunch after biking about 60 miles. Even though we were in our biking clothes, they were super friendly. The food was delicious. For an app, we ordered the Bruschetta which was fresh and tasty; we devoured it in no time. I ordered a meat trio with a red sauce which was great. My friends order the vegetable and chicken dish which came highly recommended from the waitress. They loved it and didn't leave a scrap on their plates. That staff was so kind and they even filled all 6 of out water bottles with cold water before we left. This place is a short ride away from the bike trail and I'd highly recommend coming here for a nice lunch. Came here after a day riding the Great Allegheny Trail, tired and hungry. Staff is nice. We were seated immediately and our server came with water soon after. We ordered the chicken with vegetables and pasta fresh as a breeze. Dinner came with a basket of garlic bread and a dinner salad. We were full just eating the bread and salad. Dinner portion is humongous for one person. I could've, and should've, shared with my brother, but took home my leftovers and now am ready for the food coma to set in! Food was tasty and healthy. Would recommend The Italian Oven to anyone eating in Connellsville and if you have a choice, ask for Tony to be your server; he made our experience memorable. We are from the center of good Italian food, New Jersey, and we asked the owner of the B n' B where we were staying for a recommendation. We were not disappointed with his suggestion, in fact, we were delighted! My sausage-stuffed raviolis had a nice spice to them that melded well with the red pepper sauce. My wife was very happy with her "Fresh as a Breeze" a penne with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil dish. The highlight of this dining experience was recommended by Tony; fried zucchini. I am not crazy about zucchini, but this was absolutely delicious! Seriously, it was tender, tasty and titillating to the tongue.
