Great food, casual atmosphere. Easy parking available for cars and boats. 858585858585858585858585858585858585858585

Seafood combos with chips (true cod, breaded clam strips and prawns), oyster combo with chips (right corner). 1 Alaskan cod too!

I heard about this place from my mom! She had came here recently with my dad and really wanted me to try it. We came down today, at the same time the Ballard Seafood Festival was happening. We didn't know where it was taking place per se and hoped it wouldn't detour our plans from coming here! It didn't :) and I must say, what a great addition to the Chinook restaurant. I haven't eaten at the restaurant myself but by far, loved this fast seafood joint! Service is amazing, they make you feel comfortable and I can tell that the team works really well together. If you have questions, they answer it without any problem. They ask if it's here or to-go and will call out your name for the order. My dad and I had the seafood combos with chips and my mom had the breaded oysters with chips. I had a taste of one of the oysters and they're fresh! Clam strips were good and I was very impressed by the prawns and true cod! The cod was breaded very well and crisp. The prawns were a good size and not too breaded. They do serve a lot of fries/chips with their meals and hoped there will be more seafood (my preference anyway). The staff does such a good job at making sure you have everything. Once you get your food, they have the drinks all lined up, along with coleslaw and condiments like tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. If you need extra things, straws, malt vinegar and ketchup are also lined up to take it if you need. I believe you need to ask for utensils if you need it. Not a lot of people today, and they have nice views of the marina, well...when it's a nice sunny day! Next to it is their seafood market: they sell fresh penn cove mussels, clams, salmon, and also have the Tom Douglas rub with love seafood, chicken etc rubs. Love this joint! Will be back sometime!

    Alaska True Cod and Chips

We heard about Little Chinooks from locals in Magnolia so decided to give it a try on a Monday lunch. We ordered the Alaska True Cod and Chips. The dish comes with three large and GIRTHY pieces of cod, generously coated in a panko-breaded batter and fried to the definition of crispy golden brown. It also comes with fries, a side of poppyseed coleslaw, and tartar sauce. The cod itself was flaky and sweet without even a hint of fishiness, and I am very keen on picking up fishiness! I definitely thought it was fresh and high-quality fish. The panko-beaded batter was so crispy and crunchy that it would satiate any food ASMR lover's ears. The crispy batter exterior perfectly complemented the juicy fish interior. When dipped into the tartar sauce, I started grinning ear to ear just from how delicious it all was. The fries were well worth the extra starch and carb intake too, they were fried golden crispy while maintaining a soft interior and well seasoned with salt. The poppyseed slaw was interesting - I thought it was a little too sweet for my liking, but it provides the necessary sweetness and slight acidity to reset your palette from the fried fish and fries. Another aspect I liked was how hot everything came out, signifying it was made to order. Both the fish and fries were hot enough to burn my tongue upon the first heavenly bite, which is great but just be careful! The food also came out fast, and there's also a big parking lot out front for the shops in the area so parking was easy to find. Overall, a convenient and amazing place for lunch!

Lots of parking and fast service. Food okay. Fish and chips cold. Covered outdoor seating or indoor with walls opened to let the wind from water/Marina in. No warm place to sit. Maybe that helped the food get cold fast. Wil try another place next time.

    Salmon taco

I had this place bookmarked for a while when I was craving fish tacos or something. I got the fish taco and the Boston style clam chowder, and my friend got fish and chips (cod). They were all pretty good but they are a little expensive. Fish and chips looked small for the price, but they were crispy and tasty so it is worth a visit. The space was kept clean and it was a nice place to hang out.

    Salmon tacos. Pretty damn good.

I went for a run and got distracted by seafood. Best distraction I've had in awhile. I'm pretty skeptical about $10 tacos but the salmon on this was heat. -1 star because like...$10 for one taco

    Outdoor seating area.

Our first trip to Little Chinooks. Won't be the last. Everything was tasty, and perfectly cooked.

Done indoors or out near the docks!

One of the best fish and chips experience of my life! Salmon and chips were excellent and the battered fish almost melted in my mouth. Service was great and condiments plentiful. It's a great view of all the fishing boats in the marina and you can sit inside or out.

Exterior sign at Fishermen's Terminal (3/8/21)

Little Chinook's has been around well before I was a Yelper...cool spot to get decent food at Fishermen's Terminal off of Interbay in Magnolia. This was for a revisit on 3/8/21 just for fish and chips for lunch. I joined the masked, socially distanced line as part of the lunch rush. Easy peasy, placed my takeout order, brief wait, and then order in hand and back to my car. Items nicely packed along with tartar sauce, ketchup, coleslaw, utensils, and a napkin provided. Panko crusted trio of true cod filets with seasoned fries. Delicious, but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Thankfully, The Homie (teenaged Hoover) polished off the rest brought home. Great food to have at Fishermen's Terminal, Magnolia Park, or pandemic dining in one's car or brought home. Quality provided but a bit pricey and comparable to similar orders from Ray's or Duke's. My occasional fish and chips craving usually leans towards Ivar's, for familiarity and budget. Just a nice option, whether Chinook's or Little Chinook's, located just off the Ballard Bridge in Interbay/Magnolia.

seasonal lemonade ( raspberry), salmon taco, coleslaw, clam chowder ( white )
    Hanna B.

The food was so good! The salmon taco was so fresh and well cooked. The seasonal lemonade was sweet and tart and very summery. The chowder was very creamy and rich. The coleslaw was sweet and very fresh, not my favorite, but still good. The service was also pretty great! The server that took our order at the counter was new, so it was a bit slower ordering, but after that the food did come out very fast. Overall I would recommend this place to people in need of good cooked fish.

We came on the earlier side and ended up waiting around 20 minutes before ordering. I got the dover and fries, and this was probably one of the best fish and chips dishes I have ever had! The fish was super duper thin and coated generously, and then topped with some seasoning mix that was so flavorful. The fries / potatoes were also insanely crispy and flavorful - the skins were the best part. I also really liked the tarter sauce that it came with! I can still remember how it all tastes. Definitely recommend the dover and chips, and I'll have to be back to try other menu items!

We ended up waiting a little over an hour, even after the restaurant officially closed, but they still served everyone who was already in line, which I appreciated. Once inside, the staff were very friendly and apologetic about the wait. Service was a bit slow, but that's understandable considering how packed they were. The restaurant itself is also fairly small, which likely contributed to the wait. We ordered the fried fish sandwich, salmon sandwich, chowder, and fried oysters. Overall, everything was good, but the standouts for me were the salmon sandwich and the chowder. The salmon sandwich was served cold, which initially caught me off guard because I was expecting it to be hot. After taking a bite, though, I understood why it was served that way, it was fresh, flavorful, and worked really well. The fried oysters were also delicious, especially paired with the dipping sauce. The chowder wasn't quite like the style I'm used to, but it was still rich, flavorful, and worth ordering. The fried fish sandwich--the item I was most excited about--was good, just not my favorite of everything we tried. The best way I can describe it is as an elevated Filet-O-Fish. It wasn't bad by any means, but it's probably not something I'd order again. As for the long line, I wasn't upset about waiting because I knew they were busy, but I probably wouldn't wait over an hour again. I would definitely come back if there wasn't such a long line, because the food and friendly service made it worth another visit.

It gives you that nostalgic vibe you feel when you know your grandparents came here to eat, sat by the window, and talked story for an hour or two with their friends and family. I've gotta be real, I love those feelings and these types of restaurants. The restaurants that endure trendy decor and overly fancy presentations. I admit, there's a time and place fort those and I'll visit them to check them out, but know, that I will always have a soft spot for restaurants that stand the test of time. We were lucky enough to get a seat by the pier with a little bit of a wait, but not enough to ruin our dinner. The menu is simple but had quite of bit of options to please any taste bud. We ordered a couple of oysters to try and the BBQ prawns to start. The oysters had just enough tang to go along with the richness of the meat. Our waiter was peppy and thorough, explaining to us about the coveted copper river salmon that's only around for a few weeks in the summer. I definitely wanted to try that and have a go at their clam chowder. My boyfriend and I ended up sharing the entree of the copper river salmon as well as an order of the bbq prawns and a cup of the clam chowder. Aunt carol also got the prawns and the Hearts of Romain salad with blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese dressing. For our first meal in Seattle, and my first time at Chinook's, I'd say this restaurant hit it out of the ball park! The copper river salmon was fresh and felt as though it was a burst of flavor unlike any salmon I've had before. It was less buttery and more vibrant and I loved every bite. We each loved our meals and were happy we stopped here our first night. We were hoping to come back for lunch before we headed out, but alas, trips always end up too short in the end. I know we will be back the next time we're in Seattle. Window seat and all!

We visited the Friday after Thanksgiving and arrived around 5 PM, hoping to beat the crowds--and luckily, we did. The restaurant was still fairly calm before the evening rush arrived. We had hoped to take advantage of Chinook's Happy Hour, but learned that the Happy Hour menu is only available at the bar, not at dining tables. Since we wanted an easy, relaxed conversation, we decided to stay seated at our table instead. Our server, Marilyn A, seemed a bit frazzled, likely because she had several tables to manage at once, but she was clearly trying her best to keep up and serve everyone promptly. We started with fresh Kumamoto and Totten Inlet oysters, which were delicious--clean, briny, and very fresh. For our entrées we ordered the wild salmon burger, salmon and chips, and the classic Caesar salad. All were enjoyable and satisfying choices, especially if you're in the mood for simple, well-prepared seafood. We skipped dessert since we had just returned from Leavenworth and had fresh sugar and gingerbread cookies waiting for us at home--a sweet ending we were already looking forward to. Overall, it was a pleasant early evening seafood dinner and a nice, relaxed way to wrap up the day.
