This was my first time at any Spud location. I've seen mixed reviews of other locations, but for some reason never looked into this one. One day when walking around Green Lake and getting hungry, I decided to give it a try. Not sure if I got lucky on that day (it was a Sunday), but the customer service was noticeably wonderful. The cashier greeted us with a big smile and just seemed so welcoming & attentive. I haven't had service like that in awhile around here. As for food, just wanted to go simple & got the cod fish and chips. This being a local chain, I didn't expect much. When I bit into the fish, it was way better than I expected. Crunchy on the outside, soft & flaky on the inside, and most important, flavorful! Sometimes when I get fish & chips, the fish is bland. Not here. The fries could've used salt, but otherwise they were nice. The condiments were great too. Tartar sauce, lemon, & vinegar (I think it had garlic in it?). There were also various hot sauces that were near the register. When my partner grabbed one of the hot sauce bottles, the two workers behind the counter noticed and confirmed that he made a choice they would have made as well! It was a cold day so most people sat inside. As we ate, more people arrived and I realized there weren't enough tables for them, so it got a little crowded. The prices are a bit high, but overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and will return! read more

Had a delightful experience grabbing a snack here. The service was extra friendly and kind. They even brought my food out to me. I'd definitely come back. My fried oysters were really fresh and tasty and the cocktail sauce tasted homemade. The inside was clean and bright with lots of places to sit. Will def be back to try more! First of all what a lunch time view you'll have while dining. However it's not the view it's the decades of quality fish deep fried fish served to perfection that keeps me dining. Every meal has tasted the same since I first stated dining here back in the 80's as a young punk swimming at the lake all summer long... The variety, quality and serving size is epic . Prawns , Claims & Fish on top of a mountain of some of the freshest Idaho potatos aka French Fries accompanying my order. The staff are the best ~ so friendly and smiley. Their fish and chips are top tier but I mainly became a regular for the staff. The fish is always is a sizeable (if a piece is too small, they give another small) and I'm always well-satiated after single w/chips. The staff was very friendly and the place clean, but the fries were hideous (soggy, too brown and flavorless.) Apparently they are trying a different type of potato, but seemed to feel that my lack of appreciation was more my problem than theirs. An old classic of Greenlake, Spud Fish and Chips has been delivering a distinctive, flavorful cod fish and chips for decades. It tastes like home whenever I'm here. The outdoor seating has been upgraded from the weatherworn tables that used to be outside, and there's indoor tables and bar seating now too. The cheerful servers behind the counter were only too happy to explain the menu and portion size. When we sat ourselves outside, one of them brought the food to the table. There's no one hollering my name here!. Almost everything is served in compostable or recyclable containers, which I appreciated. The local microbrew and wine selection is also par for the course in this area. Prices... well, yikes, fish is expensive. On my most recent visit, I also tried the clam chowder. I miss the old Spuds on Green Lake so I was glad when they opened in the new building in the same location. The interior is new and clean but a little short on tables, although they have seating outside. We were greeted with a smile as we walked in. The fish are served as large fillets so one fish fillet is really enough for lunch for each of us. We ordered a double with large fries. The fries well seasoned and just right for us and the fish fillets were nice and crispy. read more

Been awhile. I did not expect $40 for three piece fish and large fries. The food was good but I have to wonder why? This Greenlake location's prices are 50% higher than all the other Spud's locations. Don't know if it is Seattle's new minimum wage or high rent in this building. We were traveling to Whistler, Canada and decided to drive tour downtown Seattle. Since the parking situation was not optimal per other reviews of theft (and we had some roof rack items not locked) we decided not to do the overcrowded, downtown fish market. We were determined to try local fish and chips as fresh fish is the only thing that makes it. Looked up places in Seattle but off the touristy path. Very glad we did. This is located in a charming, more residential area. There was ample parking nearby where we could check up on our gear and it was across from a beautiful park and lake. Spud had a casual vibe, a dog friendly patio for our pooch, great fish and chips, and friendly counter service. As a bonus we had a nice stroll across the street, at the park/lake afterward, before getting back on the road. I would definitely recommend! read more
