Fish and Chips Basket sub crab fries and chowder
    Linh N.

Was wandering around Seattle center last weekend for a jewelry show and popped in here for a late lunch. I honestly did not know the armory was opened on the weekends haha. My brain assumed it's only opened during the summer so it was a pleasant surprise coming in here and seeing how busy it was. There was a torrent game at climate pledge so lots of people in jerseys. My friend and I ordered fish and chips and a chowder to share. It was so warm and comforting! I made the mistake of not wearing a jacket so it was really nice haha. Service was quick. You order from their little kiosk and they call your name once it was ready. I'll have to make a visit here more often!!

This is one of the most popular places to eat around. Their battered fish and oysters were excellent. Battered shrimps were OK. I liked their tartar sauce over Ol' Bay Aoli. The sampler was big portion. My daughter and I were so full after eating it.

Well it had my name on it so I had what the hell?! Jokes aside, I was craving some seafood after being in Seattle for a day. After hanging out at MoPOP for a few hours we popped over to Seattle Center Armory. It's a food hall with at least a dozen places to eat. As soon as I saw a seafood option I knew I had found my happy place. Menu is simple with fry baskets, sandwiches, and some specialty items. It looks like they've expanded their menu comparatively to older photos. Honestly fish and chips sounded great, that's what I went with! Beer-battered Alaskan Cod, hand cut fries, and tartar sauce. When you use high quality ingredients you don't need much else. A squeeze of lemon and a little hot sauce and I was in heaven. The fish was so hot I had to wait nearly 10 minutes for it to cool down. I devoured this basket. It's a gigantic portion of food. Two generous sized pieces of flaky cod in a crispy beer batter exterior. Absolutely delicious. I wish the sauce containers were bigger for dipping. Fries were simple, yet seasoned and tender. Absolutely zero complaints. I knocked it all back with a Fremont beer. Couldn't ask for more. A very tasty plate of fish and chips that lived up to my namesake!

We wanted to grab a quick bite to eat pre-Lady Gaga concert, this place was perfect. Ordered the fish and chips on the kiosk, waited about 5 minutes for the food. The fish was okay, the french fries were mid crisp. Tarter sauce was stock. Prices were decent, no customer service as you just order from the kiosk. If you are looking for somewhere quick to eat nearby a concert, this place works.

    Great shrimp roll.

Had a great lunch at Matt's today. I had the Shrimp Roll and wife had the cod - fish and chips. The shrimp roll was so big I could hardly get it in the mouth.

Visiting the Sakura Festival in Seattle, this place totally blew us away from our expectations! Not in a conspicuous place, nestled to the left of the staircase going up to the Armory, there were plenty of tables although there was a large crowd dining then. Not cheap eating, we thought at first, but when the food was ready to be picked up... wow! When do shrimp become prawns? These were some giant shrimp! Well breaded but just cooked on the inside. Delicious! The mussels were an appetizer and just delightful with a choice of sauces. The crab over fries.... I'll eat this every day. Just yum! Fries were good but with fries in almost every order, we could not finish it all. Once cold, the oil saturates... so tip: eat fast! Highly recommended if in the neighborhood!

Super chunky fried shrimp, excellent customer service, good efficient service! The shrimp were big and flavorful . They had other very good options which I look forward to trying next time I'm in Seattle

Waited a very time for a bowl of small soup, but the taste was good. Very thick bowl of clam chowder, and not watery at all. Came with a nice piece of toast also. Inside the food hall, so easily could fit a big group inside. Definitely for tourists but if you are coming, an easy and relaxed meal. Order via iPad screen.

Fried oysters and fries -cup of clam chowder and a $4 Diet Pepsi$40 lunch that I didn't want to finish.

Fried oysters were expensive and super over fried. Fries were pretty good. Clam chowder tasted like it came from a can. Service was excellent, but if the food's not great, I won't be back or recommend. $40 not well spent on lunch this time around!

Thank god we made it in time! Visiting Seattles Children's museum and came across Matt's fish basket. And want to SINNNNG the praises of Jorge the gentleman who not only help me order enough/tell me I was ordering too much food but also being AMAZINGLY honest and helping me order "hooked-up" stuff off the menu so that I wasn't paying full price. He could have totally not said anything and I wouldn't have known any better but Jorge literally got me so much bang for my buck. We got the sampler, seafood poutine, crispy mussels and clam chowder. My kids ate EVERYTHING. The food was SOOOO DARN GOOD. My 6 year old and 3 year old finished EVERYTHING on their plate without argument. But it wasn't just that the food was good, I really deeply appreciate Jorge's customer service. Best customer service I've had in a VERY long time. Not only did he help me charge my phone (didn't bring charger with me) but he gave my kids soft serve... I cannot express how thankful I am and how happy he made my kids. This man deserves a raise. I'm serious, if he doesn't get one I'm 100% sure his kindness and gifts with customer service would be deeply desired everywhere else.

    Shrimp sandwich
    Wells L.

TL:DR - Lots of food for the value. Fries take up most of the actual container. Shrimp and sauce were quite good. But this is just too much of a good thing. You couldn't eat it as a sandwich with how big the shrimp were, and just all the oil and fried batter was too much and made me feel sick. All in all, if you're used to fried foods, you'll love this spot, otherwise it won't sit well. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I think you'll either absolutely love this place or never want to come back. I'm pretty much in the never want to come back camp, but I can easily see other people really liking it. To just break it down bluntly, you get a HUGE amount of food for the price. Pretty much the entire takeout box was filled with fries, and my shrimp po'boy was on top. So you'd barely be able to close the flaps if you took the entire sandwich out. So again, this may be a reason to come for some. The fries themselves were delicious, crispy and crunchy, perfectly seasoned. The shrimp on this po-boy were HUGE. I mean, each one was literally the height of the bun it was served on. You couldn't even close the bun, I had to eat one shrimp by itself, lay them all sideways, and they were still spilling out of the bun. The bun was perfectly toasted on the inside, nice and soft in the middle. The sauce for the shrimp was delicious as well. The shrimp itself was about 1/3 batter and 2/3 shrimp meat, which is pretty good. All that sounds great right? So what's the problem? Well the problem for me is that it was just too much oil. Between the heavy sauce, large amounts of fried batter, and then the ungodly amount of fries on top of that. I barely finished any of it, I just felt sick from all the fried carbs. I started taking the batter off most of the shrimp, scraped off most of the sauce, and only eating about a third of my fries and felt super slow and heavy the rest of the day. So if you love greasy food and it doesn't bother you, you may love this place. If fried fast food is a once in a while treat, this may leave you feeling nothing but regret.

Solid and quick fried fish when you crave it. Located in the Armory, it's a convenient location. Wait time after ordering varies but is generally not too bad. Fish is super crunchy, if a bit greasy. Only 1 sauce is included with your order. In the handful of times I've visited, half the time they are out of dole whip. There is ample seating in the hall and it's not too loud.

Awesome customer service. We got the sampler basket which was more than enough for 2 people. The batter was nice and crispy

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the reputation. The clam chowder was just average. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't memorable or deserving of the accolades we had read about. The slice of sourdough bread served with it was extremely dry and tasted stale, which was disappointing given Seattle's reputation for great sourdough. We also ordered the cod fish and chips, and the fish tasted like frozen, pre-breaded cod rather than fresh fish. The coating was crispy; although, the fish did taste fresh. Overall, we left feeling that the restaurant was overrated. We had expected a standout meal based on its reputation, but instead found the food to be average at best. While the service was fine and the line moved efficiently, we wouldn't make a point to return or recommend it as a must-visit dining experience in Seattle.

We came here to eat because it was near our hotel. I was OBSESSED with the crab nachos. 2 months later, I moved out here all on my own. Now, 8 years later, I live nearby. Whenever someone is visiting, we come here. Whenever I run into a stranger visiting, i say they have to come here. My friends know if i'm celebrating anything, "are you getting crab nachos?!" It's become a part of my personality at this point. I have so much respect for the owners, the way they run their business and their honesty online. My go to is: Pull apart bread, crab nachos (with their hot sauce!! which, btw can i buy that by the bottle.. cause YUM) + whatever drink is calling my name (they rotate, but if you can get the pina colada you won't regret it). tldr; you'll regret NOT coming here.

The outdoor patio is still there which was a nice addition from 2019/2020 era. Some of their bourbons are still reasonably priced. Their food is pretty good. Would recommend the tacos, the burger, and carne asada. The nachos were not particularly for me, and also seemed to come out cold. Seemed to have cheese sauce instead of actual cheese. It was a cold day however. This place is mainly great for happy hour after work, but will come back and try dinner another time. Staff is great though. Really quaint and awesome spot to post up. good food, good service, good drinks, good selection, and still better pricing than most bars with what they have to offer. THE SHORT OF IT: - Absolutely exceptional ambiance, food,…read moreand service. I can't wait to go back! Service was quick, attentive, and everything arrived in a very timely manner given how busy they were on a Saturday evening. The menu truly has something for everyone and the wine list is exceptional. We also had a birthday at the table and still felt special and well-attended despite every table being full. THE INSIDE: - The stained glass windows and hanging lights give such a warm, cozy, yet upscale vibe. - There are many tables and booths. - Handicapped accommodations can be made, but I'd ask in advance, as some areas are tougher to navigate than others. THE FOOD WE TRIED: - Pasta dish: Garlic Fennel Sausage, Oyster Mushrooms, and Snap Peas with Creczenza, White Truffle Oil, and Tagliarini balsamic, red and green basil, parsley, grana padano. Absolutely stunning. I could not finish it, so I'd suggest splitting it with someone else if you can't take it to go. It was so ridiculously flavorful and fresh. I want to eat this 11 more times. - Scallops dish: Sea Scallops Seared in Cast Iron with Oyster Mushrooms and Yellow Corn Risotto asparagus pistou, red basil, white truffle oil, crescenza, fine herbes. Presentation was gorgeous and scallops were melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The corn risotto underneath would honestly be just as good on its own. - Steak dish: Snake River Farms Wagyu Baseball Cut Sirloin 9 oz. The savory compound butter on top was the perfect amount, and the two sauces on the side (chimichurri and a brown one I wish I could name, it's in the pictures) were so good I could have eaten them by a spoon. Steak was cooked to an ideal medium rare with a perfect sear. This was the star of the table, even with everything else being SO GOOD. -Seafood: Big Easy Jambalaya, deep creole flavors, unapologetically spicy wild gulf prawns, chicken, house made andouille, tasso. The person who ordered this said it reminded them of straight New Orleans fare, so I trust their experience! Properly savory and chock full of flavor. SIDE NOTES: - Someone at our table had a seafood allergy and had no issues despite the vast amount of seafood on the menu and around us. - Reservation system is quick and easy. It feels a tiny bit cramped to move around outside of your seated area, but once you're seated, you absolutely won't care given how delicious everything is! - We ate here before attending an opera and had a cozy corner booth reserved months in advance, so that may have improved the experience a bit. :)

Not that I was expecting her to give me a cake but a smile would have went a long way. I ordered one of their margaritas and it was meh, overall I just didn't have a good cocktail anywhere we dined in Seattle. I ordered one of their king salmon dishes that was "creole style" but severely lacked seasoning. My boo ordered the steak, which also lacked salt and was served with boxed mash potatoes, which they should be ashamed for at this price point. I also had 4 oysters as an appetizer and they were so small! I was expecting more from the seafood as it seems to be what Seattle is known for. They oysters were fresh, but $22 for four tiny oysters is offensive. This experience may have gotten another star if the service was better but this is place I'd just skip.
