Last summer of last year, I contacted Little City for some ideas for xeriscaping my front yard. Kirk arrived promptly and drew up a great plan to submit to my HOA. Early February, Brandon and his crew arrived and completed tear out and installation within two days. Brandon was wonderful to work with and his crew were respectful and worked together brilliantly. During the installation, Brandon was quick to accept suggestions and to answer any questions I had about what was taking place. The workmanship was top notch! I requested a little adjustment to the placement of one of the rocks and not only were they very open and willing to accommodate my wishes but they came out the next week (weather impeded arriving sooner) and within an hour, my yard looked just how I wanted it - spectacular. After interviewing a number of landscape companies--big and small--we were getting frustrated by the process. We had no idea what might look good or what the local environment might support, in terms of hearty shrubs and trees. When Kirk from Little City came by last July to provide his estimate, he listened to what we wanted, then walked around the yard taking in the scene from a number of vantage points. Moreover, Kirk is a licensed nurseryman. He knows plants, trees and shrubs. While we were chatting on the porch, he sketched out his vision for our yard. We thought we knew what we wanted, but Kirk sketched out what he thought would be even better. It was perfect. It was exactly what we had in mind but were unable to express. We agreed to award the job to Little City on the spot, but that was only half the story. This was at the end of July and the soonest they could do the work was in November. No problem. Come November the work started with a visit from 811 to mark utility lines. The next day, some equipment arrived and the side fence was removed to allow access for machinery. We have two dogs and the crew made sure to close the opening each day with that orange temporary fencing--a nice touch that gave us peace of mind. And here is the best part--from start to finish, the entire job took five and a half days. Once they started, the crew was on the job every day with the exception of a weekend, a snow day and a rain day. And watching this crew work, under Brandon's supervision was quite an experience. These guys worked hard, every day and there were no wasted efforts. Each man knew his role and they were doing a number of different tasks simultaneously until it all came together. You can tell that these guys have worked a long time together and that says a lot about Little City Landscape. Topping it all off--accent lighting added for a warm nighttime look. We trusted Kirk and the team to deliver a landscape that we could not even begin to describe and they nailed it. We had Little City return for a little tweaking of our backyard landscape job they had done back in June. We wanted to live with it a while before making changes. Maestro Ernie and two supporting members arrived and Ernie immediately conveyed his idea to my wife who agreed. I say maestro because that what Ernie is in operating the small excavator. A day later the job was completed including bringing a rock the size of a loveseat he had been saving back at the shop as he said. Very happy with everyone at Little City in the work they have done for us. First of all, the guy who will come out and quote your project is Kirk who is a pompus ass. He knows everything about everything and much more. Just ask him about anything (maybe nuclear fusion and how that works) I dare you. He has a smart mouth and and gossips about his prior jobs including my neighbors. I felt bad for them. He doesn't listen to what your ideas are as he has his own ideas which are much more expensive and not worth the cost once completed. He is super expensive and brags about how wonderful his products and plants are. Out of the 35 plants and trees he planted last year on my property, there are at least 11 dead ones maybe more. Do yourself a favor and shop around for someone who is a nice person and is cheaper. Good luck if you choose this company. read more

Right from the beginning I was tremendously impressed by this company. The designer came out to my house and was genuinely excited to work on the property. It was obvious that he took a lot of pride in his work...turned out he was the owner of the business. Always a good sign. We have a very large front yard that was just a bunch of dirt and a big pine tree. We were looking to have some rocks and other desert landscaping done. I had called around to several different places and had a few estimators come out. Not only was LCL's price the most competitive, but I just couldn't get over the fact that the designer/owner was so stoked to be designing our yard. The team began working on Monday with tractors, a dump truck full of 1-ton boulders, tons of rock, dirt, and a bunch of plants. It is now Wednesday morning at 9:15 am, and the job is completely finished. The crew came by this morning to put some finishing touches on the yard...including REMOVING ALL OF THEIR FOOTPRINTS FROM THE DIRT! Now THAT'S thorough. My driveway is cleaner than when they arrived, and the yard is absolutely gorgeous. The staff was friendly and worked HARD for 2 straight days. The foreman was around several times to talk me through a few things and present me with a few options for different facets of the yard. These guys are the real deal. It sounds silly to say this, but we firmly believe that we now have the best looking yard on the block...and it's a VERY long street! Yesterday evening we had two different cars stop and ask us who had done our yard, as they had seen the tractors and workers over the last couple of days. I definitely hope that our new property sends some business to Little City Landscape, as it is certainly well-deserved. I called Little City Landscape for a complete redo of my front yard. They came in and drew up a nice layout of what it would look like. The initial works was great. Unfortunately, the finish could not be completed due to the time of year and lack of available plants at local nursery. Once the plants came in, I was able to purchase and plant them. I then called LCL back to finish up the work (about 3 months later). And even though they were slammed with many other projects, Ernie still came out and finished the drip system layout and start up. We hired Little City Landscape a little over 2 years ago to clean-up what a previous landscaper had done to us. (Way overpriced and totally under performed). Kirk came out and made suggestions in writing and we hired them to do the work. We were amazed at how much LCL improved our landscaping and the price was very reasonable. Last summer, we had a serious problem with our lawn (installed by the previous landscaper). A rep. from LCL came out and gave us written recommendations. We followed their recommendations to the letter and in several weeks we had the best looking lawn in the neighborhood. LCL didn't even charge us for this professional consulting. Last winter we hired LCL to do a professional pruning of all our landscaping plus plant a pear tree. LCL came with a whole crew and in a hour or so, the job was completed and all the trimmings cleaned up and taken away. Great job as our fruit trees are now baring fruit. The only problem we have had is scheduling our work and the office is not very good about returning calls when we leave messages. Overall, I give them an A+. read more

I just had a designer from Little City out to my house to talk about my back yard. I found his manner and tone to be very rude and outright dismissive. Before even asking me about what I wanted he started talking about how the only way to do it was a complete demolition and re-grade and started to plan how he could get his heavy equipment in the yard. I told him I didn't like the DG that is spread around part of the back fence and his response was a rudely stated "where's the DG, that's just rock." That's fine if true but it's never good practice to make your customers feel stupid; there were much better ways to explain that if it really needed to be explained. I mentioned that I was considering a small deck to replace an existing paver patio and he interrupted me mid sentence to tell me I didn't want that, spiders would get under it. At multiple points during his visit he informed me that "I'm a pro." Including a final time after I shook his hand and asked him to leave. A true professional understands that while his clients may have misconceptions a part of the job is to listen to the client first and to make recommendations. The job is never to tell a client what you think they should want. I'm not sure exactly what this designer is a pro at but it was clear that it wasn't listening to the needs of his client. I can't speak to the final quality of a yard that might be produced by this team but I suggest caution if you are considering asking them for a quote. read more

After setting up my appointment and rearranging my calendar, I received a call for Kirk who left me a very abrupt voicemail about how they don't do planning this far and advance. Basically he has other more important customers to attend to now and I should call back closer to when I want the work done.
