    Nordic ale vibes.
    Elizabeth L.

Amazing beer and people. The moment you walk in, you're hit with this bold, artsy, Nordic-mythology vibe -- huge wall murals, warm string lights, and this cozy-industrial feel that somehow manages to be both edgy and welcoming at the same time. The artwork alone is worth the visit -- it feels like you're having a drink inside a graphic novel or a modern Viking hall. The beer was excellent -- well-crafted, flavorful, and clearly made by people who actually care about what they do.

Little Cottage is a great little brewery and it's our third time visiting. We came here for a few sips of hazy hoppy goodness. There is more than just beer but a host of other offerings: hard seltzer, cocktails, and even some refreshing boozy and NA soft-serve or slushy options, ice cream cups and sandwiches for two and four legged friends. We had a Non Alcoholic watermelon soft serve, for our little one while she water coloring. We grabbed some roadies to watch the Wig Wag Fest.

Amazing brewery. The beer is phenomenal and the staff even more impressive. Would have let me sample everything on tap if I asked, but didn't take long to find a beer to settle on. Took some bottles home to enjoy later as well!

While visiting Atlanta for work I thought I would hit up a microbrewery. I search Untappd and found Little Cottage to be one of the highest rated near me. They seem to have the market locally on barrel aged stouts. I found they also make some tasty hazy IPA's. I grabbed an Uber and headed over. They have a nice outdoor space to sit and relax. But I opted to ditch the heat and humidity and head inside. The pace was pretty dark because there was a Godzilla movie playing on a big screen inside. I found a seat at the bar and because it was so dark I couldn't really read the chalkboard beer list. The bartender had to turn flashlight on for me to see it. I stayed an hour or so and ended up enjoying two hazy double IPA's and then tried their special Christmas Land barrel aged stout. I found that to be think and very sweet. The staff was decent and the place was interesting. I wasn't a fan of the lights off, movie thing. From a business standpoint it seemed odd, despite the movie drawing in a decent crowd, the majority sat and nursed a beer and wasn't drinking like a normal patron would be.

Best of the best for big boy stouts and metal! Always a big fan of the alternative scene especially when they have coconut and coffee stouts like no where else! The stouts they have here are unmatched anywhere else!! Service is always friendly and staff recommend pours never disappoint. Local artist murals cover the walls and the bottle artwork is so unique, you'll want to start a collection. Bottle releases and anniversary parties draw a crowd so come early if you can!

A dark beer (not barrel aged, which is their wheelhouse)

Cute small brewery in Decatur. Has a very down to earth feel about it. Tapwall and bar in front when you come in. A good bit of outdoors space in front. Tables down the side of the brewery space. Altogether rather small. Music is rock and metal, which goes along with some of the decorations in the place, although the vibe feels less metal overall. I was good with it. Examining other reviews, some are not. To each his own? Place was not too crowded when I got in there. Tried a few brews, which I overall find on the upper end of average. My understanding is I need to try one of their barrel aged beers, as the brewer was #3 in the nation on Untappd as a premium member ... before he even opened the brewery. I also heard "good luck finding one". That was my experience, as well. I would normally stick with a 3 rating, based on the beers, but give some leeway, as I have friends who have had their barrel aged beers (their wheelhouse) and swear by them. Yes, barrel aged beers are usually ranked highly, so that might be a weak excuse to tack on a point.

The boozy cherry and food court slurpee float was 10/10. Such a cool place!!! No time to take a picture before I finished it all, so I am posting a picture of my empty glass.

I absolutely LOVE this brewery! It's in the perfect spot and they've got a good selection of beers. It is a small batch brewery so they rotate their beers pretty often. Every single employee has been very friendly and helpful when choosing a beer. They have rotating food trucks too and play metal all day long. I usually don't drink seltzers but they have the best damn one I've ever tried! They also have killer murals on the walls inside. 10/10 would recommend!

Brewery that plays metal- let's gooo!! Laughed a little, no offense dude, at one review complaining about music --clearly didn't do his homework and could walk to legit 3 other lame breweries. Jokes aside music isn't blaring, it's in the background and it Rocks. Tables a little flimsy inside, but serve the purpose. AC working inside - random but matters bc the one next door had no AC and we were dying on week one of summer at 5pm. Cool artwork. Nice people. Oh yeah, Tried a few beers too. Normal shit. Little bit of everything and a food tent outside. Come visit.

You can find Little Cottage Brewery at 120 Olive St, Ste 500, Avondale Estates, GA 30002 - this is a strip of about 4-5 businesses in a commercial area about a block from E College Ave. It's about two blocks equidistant between two other breweries in opposite directions, Lost Druid and Wild Heaven. There's parking out front and to one side, however it may not be safe to park in front of businesses that are open during the week - I believe most are closed during the weekend. There's additional parking down the street with a public lot near Lost Druid. The interior is post-industrial with nice hand-painted graphics - the taproom bar extends off to the right with additional table seating and a display of T-shirts and other swag - which if you're like me you won't be able to resist - I especially liked the taster-glass and the stretchy baseball caps. The bathrooms can be found in a short hallway behind the bar that stretches to the brewhouse - there are a handful of 3.5 bbl tanks, perfect for small batches and lots of variation. It was with great anticipation that I first visited Little Cottage on opening day - it was a well organized event with predefined time segments and pre-purchased tickets. You received a few pours with admission and could opt to purchase additional, plus an amazing Imperial Stout. The event was well-attended and sold-out from what I hear (it spanned two days) to accommodate social distancing rules during the pandemic. The brewer/owner of Little Cottage (Jon Shari) has been entering competitions for several years, first as an established and well regarded homebrewer then as a brewery-in-planning - he's won several awards and has always produced some amazing beers. He's best known for his super thick stouts as mentioned. For the opening Little Cottage provided 7 different beers including the Imperial Stout, an Oatmeal Stout, a Nitro Milk Stout with Coffee, an India Pale Ale, a Double IPA, a Pale Ale and a Blueberry Raspberry Berliner. I burned through my tickets quickly and have been back enough times to try everything from the first day plus a few new releases. I loved the Imperial Stout, the super dank IPA and the fruited Berliner. Service has been exceptional on every occasions I've attended with an attentive staff that actually knows and understands the beer served and who can interpret your favorite styles and make good suggestions. Double Barrel Metal Only - Imperial Stout 13% - Delicious, thick motor oil with notes of tart dark fruit, dark chocolate, vinous qualities and tons of barrel. Outstanding. Housekeeping! - India Pale Ale 6.6% - The joy of Citra, this excellent NEIPA-style pale ale is super juicy and mouth coating, exploding with citrus notes, low bitterness, awesome lacing and a dry hoppy finish. Interstellar Jumpsuit - IPA - American 6.5% - Very dry NEIPA with citrus and tropical notes, a touch of hops through a juicy body with amazing lacing. A touch bitter on the finish. Dying Breed - Oatmeal Stout 6.7% - Tasty, nice sweet roasty malt notes, fairly easy drinking, thinner crushable stout with distinct notes and a great finish. Two Little Mice Nitro Milk Stout with Coffee 3.3% - Super easy drinking, like a cup of cold brew coffee to sip as a quick pick-me-up. Creamy nitro body, sweet roasty malt and coffee notes. Telekinetic - India Pale Ale 6.8% - Super tasty, tons of tropical fruit with mango notes, in a juicy hazy body and a great finish, hoppy nose. Vega Brothers - Double IPA 8.8% - Super tasty, massive tropical notes with a berry hint, hazy juicy body with a touch of hops throughout, finishes dry with a bit of lingering orange. Hymn Songs of an Alternate Universe - Pale Ale 6.1% - Super easy drinking tropical hazy pale, citrus notes with a touch of hops throughout the dry body and finish. Food Court Slurpee - Blueberry Raspberry Berliner 6.2% - Delicious thick-bodied slushy style sour, great tart to sweet balance. Nice fruity berry body and dry finish, super refreshing. Prices are reasonable and the beer is exception - what are you waiting for? Plan a whole day and visit all three walkable breweries - you can also extend your visit towards the excellent and nearby Three Taverns (a bit less walkable but not too far if you're feeling the need to get some exercise).

Little cottage is an extremely cute stop in Avondale. We love their outdoor seating and warm indoor environment - a little bit of a contrast to their metal music but we love it! The beers are incredibly well crafted and flavorful. We highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for well intentioned local brews.

I will say that I did a selection and price comparison to another growler store a couple of miles away, and The Beer Growler was not only cheaper, but it offered significantly more options. The store itself is a delightful hodgepodge of eclectic interior design - owls, interesting artwork, clearly labeled tap selection on a giant blackboard. But I must say the selling point of this particular location would have to be the service. It was serviced by an all-woman staff, and as a woman, this was a very attractive quality. These girls know about beer, and it was so refreshing to see women run the place because every other growler shop I have been to have been all-male staff. One thing I am not a huge fan of is the fact that we had to pay for samples. I haven't had to do that at other growler type shops. We ended up getting the Wild Heaven, which provided a lot for the money. One of my favorite beer is the KT Bourbon - excellent, rich, and so much substance to it. Will be stopping here again!

Strong sips, chill vibes -- but not for the faint of heart!…read moreWe stopped by Independent Distilling Company after finding a great Groupon for a flight tasting (up to 6 spirits). Heads up -- free street parking is available, but the road is narrow, so hug that curb! From the outside, the place might seem small, but the inside opens up nicely. The decor leans rustic, with stools and cozy couches for seating. We opted for the stools and visited right at opening, so the owner and bartender were still getting things going. The tasting includes nearly their entire spirit menu -- 6 out of 7 offerings -- and let me tell you, these pours are not light. Each one was a bold, high-proof experience (bartender mentioned 72 proof, if I remember right). I can handle my liquor, and even I was surprised by the strength! We stayed for about an hour to let the tastings settle in. Out of the six, I personally liked two -- my fiancée didn't enjoy any, but that's just personal taste. I wouldn't return for myself, but it was absolutely worth visiting at least once and supporting a local spot. Plus, you can only imagine how great their cocktails are based on the flavor of these spirits. Here's a quick breakdown of what we sampled: Independent White Rum - Light molasses with grassy, peppery notes. Silver medal winner. Barrel Aged Rum - Butterscotch, honey, oaky vanilla. Voted Best Georgia Distilled Spirit. Hellbender Corn Whiskey - Strong corn flavor, hay, green apple, and caramel popcorn vibes. Fowler's New World Gin - Bright and botanical. Notes of citrus, herbs, and spice with an American twist. Hellbender Bourbon - Oak-forward with vanilla, burnt orange, and baking spice. Classic and robust. Outlier No. 21 (Port Cask Finish) - Aged 9 years, finished in port casks. Deep, rich, fruity, and complex. If you're into small-batch craft spirits with character and kick, definitely swing by. Just don't come on an empty stomach -- you've been warned.
