I guess I didn't learn from my previous experience at this place. I had lunch there and started having stomach issues within an hour. I had Ocra Bhaji, Ruhi fish and dal. I have noticed that dal had no salt and that would not make your stomach upset. I think it was the fish that has made me to go to the the bathroom every half hour or so. The customer service is good. The employees are very welcoming. The food is ok. The prices are fair. It's a small hole in the wall place. It could improve. People outside smoke at the tables and the place fills up with cigarette smoke. There is a store within the restaurant, which is nice, but cluttered. Lots of Bangladeshi foods to choose from. I should not have eaten there. It was not clean and the server was rude. I was doing take out so i was not as concerned about it. I ordered the goat curry and poori and was going to eat it as I drive to San Diego. The food was luke warm. I was hungry and started to eat it but took 2 bites and stopped and spit it out. It was BAD! it was old and should have been thrown out. The poori was stale. If I want already on the road I would have turned around and demanded a refund. So, this is not the cleanest or fanciest restaurant. It is rather unclean. It is a grocery store and a deli and a cantina and a social hangout place for bengalis. Sweets are ok, they dont make dudh chai like they used to make back in the days. You can find better biriyani in LA. But if you are a fish lover, they have probably 20+ different kind of fish. For me, rui kalia is a luxury, like a good rib-eye. When I get this huge piece of rui pety, i almost get into nirvana. My family loves Bengali food, so since we go to Little India more than Little Bangladesh, this joint has become our go-to spot for Bengali food and fish. Their chicken biryani is tasty. My family members also swear by their fish curry. They are generous with the portions and the price is decent, as well. Food is pre-made and customer order fast-food style. It's a half grocery store, so you can even do a little shopping for your rahu fish, spices, and other Bengali/South Asian necessities all while dining here. Service is friendly. It has a very close-knit family vibes with an uncle serving you. Parking is fairly easy to find (a lot better than parking in Little Bangladesh). Oh little Dkaka wanted to like you ! Friend from Bangladeshi recommended this place for biryani. Have been there 3 x for it.. yesterday is the last time! The chicken biryani is mostly spicy rice with chicken bone parts yiu never knew a chicken had! You barely get any meat! The beef biryani last night was beef nuggets that were Rock hard! Terrible! They give lots of food but at $11.99 it's basically rice and very little meat. Tried the goat biryani few weeks back was just as tough. Here's a suggestion to the chef, cook the meat low and slow to tenderize. Got the chicken samosa $2.49 each was pretty good. But alas I will find a new biryani place ! read more

This place put me on to Bangladeshi food. I've tried their goat biryani, chicken biryani, goat curry, fish curry, beef curry, and balachao (not sure if that's how it's spelled?). I'm Burmese so you can imagine my surprised when I saw what looked like balachaung! The man behind the counter saw my face light up and gave me a sample to try. So good!! I ate the balachao/balachaung with my goat biryani and it was perfection. The goat curry with garlic naan is a great combo as well. I don't really shop at their market except to buy mango pickle, so can't really comment on the quality of their products. read more

Something about food from grocery stores that just hits differently to my soul. It's like they're not catering to a broad population, which in my opinion makes it more authentic. I absolutely loved their Biryani, Bangladeshi biryani is much different than its indian counterpart and in my opinion more flavorful and really good balances of spices, rice and the meat. Perhaps my most favorite thing about this place is, they don't skimp on meat like many other places do. For less than 10 bucks you can great full box with very good meat to rice ratio.
