Went back after a few months. The service and staff are still great, but the food tasted bland. I don't know what happened, maybe the chef changed? I don't think I will go back here for dosas, as there are many better choices nearby.

We got here around 6:30 pm for dinner on Saturday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place has quite limited seating so make sure you have time on hand for waiting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered one kids dosa and it came plain as is with a surprise candy inside the cone dosa! That was quite cool! The next was just plain dosa and mysore plain dosa for us but the server kept messing with the order and got us dosas with masala bhaji inside. We had to reject twice to finally get corrected order! Nonetheless the taste is amazing! Absolutely loved the sambar! Would definitely go again!

My favorite vegetarian Indian restaurant. Can't go alone, bc I want so many dishes every time I go. Their thali plate has so many different and unique flavors to soak up the rice and beads/pitas. My favorite dish is the plain paper dosa. Takes up the whole table top. Makes me so happy to break off some of the crispy dosa and keep it away from my husband.

My family has been coming here for years. They have added to their menu since but we usually stick to the basics ie onion and chili uttapam, masala rava dosa, and mysore masala dosa. Filling and hits the spot. Realized I forgot to take photos of the food before I ate it.

Every now and then, I go to Artesia, CA to satisfy my craving for Indian food. For a vegetarian spot, I go to Udupi Palace, which references a city of the same name in Karnataka, India that is famous for their vegetarian cuisine, among other things. I ordered the South Indian Thali. A thali is a (big) meal served on a large stainless steel platter with a variety of small dishes, including rice, chapati (flatbread), papad (crispy wafer), lentils, vegetables, and a dessert. It's a "personal buffet" of sorts. I personally like to drizzle my dal (lentil soup) on top of rice. I also ordered a mango lassi. Almost everything tasted delicious except that today the chapati was not fresh because it was dry and tough. Also, the papad was undercooked because it was not crispy. If not for these two sub-par items, my meal would have been perfect. The service was good as the waiter was attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place could feel cramped on a busy day because the tables are close to each other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is no dedicated parking lot. Metered street parking is available as well as nearby paid parking lots, but this could be an issue during busy hours.

I was craving Indian food, so a friend took me to her favorite spot in Artesia. We ordered dosa stuffed with paneer, idli, and bindi masala. The portions were large and super tasty. To pick from a huge selection of dosas, I used Menuvision, a new Yelp feature where you can see what a dish looks like before ordering it. It was fast and easy to use.

The service was pretty good, and the falooda and filter coffee was also pretty good. The only thing off was the prices, they seemed just a little too high, but other than that everything was nice!

Masala Dosa, Chana Batura, Fresh LimeSoda - Mix, Taj Mahal

The first time we walked past this spot, it was absolutely packed -- so of course, we had to come back and see what the hype was about. Dosa: Crispy perfection with a generous aloo filling (a rarity!). Me: 10/10 Sonny: 9/10 Chana Bhatura: The bhatura was massive, puffed, and served with plenty of chana. The portion size was no joke. Flavor-wise, I'm used to the northern-style chana, so for me it leaned a bit mid -- but still enjoyable. Me: 7/10 Sonny: 9/10 Fresh Lime Soda: Sweet, tangy, and with that unmistakable hajmola kick at the end. Honestly, it tasted so authentic it transported me straight back to my childhood in India. Also all the food came out within 5-10mins! Krrish service

Stopped in for a quick snack; everything we ordered was spicy. But delicious. The staff were good about making sure we knew how to eat everything and were friendly and efficient. This is not the fancy type ambiance, more very utilitarian. Parking was easy with street parking right up front.

Butter masala dosa with coconut chutney and sambar
    Poonam S.

Literally the best dosa I've had in the US. Tried the butter masala dosa and it was exceptional. The dosa was crispy and buttery, and each of the other components of the dish, the potatoes, chutney and sambar were excellent as well. In contrast, I tried Podi Dosa a week before, which was a huge disappointment, even with "Dosa" literally in its name. There the sambar was watery and flavorless, the chutneys were overly spicy and the dosa was meh. Can't wait to go back to Udupi to try the gunpowder butter dosa and other dishes. I also tried the bisi bele bath last time, as well as the idly/vada and they were excellent as well.

    South Indian Thali
    Liya K.

I had their masala dosa a couple months ago, which was pretty good, so I decided to try the thali this time. It's a colorful and appetizing plate! If you're thinking about it, I'd recommend sharing one thali with the whole group since it comes with a lot of rice and side dishes. The curries were hard to distinguish from each other, but the portions were generous. Overall, it was filling, though a bit underwhelming. The rasam was tasty and paired well with the yellow rice, which I think was lemon rice. I'm not sure why they added extra rice as a side--maybe it's a standard thali thing I'm not familiar with. The semiya payasam was really good! The beets were a little dry but tasted fine when mixed with the yogurt. The chickpeas had a tangy flavor, probably from extra tomatoes. The chapathi was a bit tough. I thought the sambar (above the rasam) and the vegetable curry (next to the chickpeas) tasted similar, though the vegetable curry was thicker. The final side next to the yogurt seemed to be lentil curry. The pappadam was crunchy and tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went during lunchtime, and it was starting to get busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It seems like a regular, lively spot for elderly Indian folks and families, which is nice to see.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Great Indian food in Artesia!…read more Ever since moving to San Jose, I've been craving Indian food when I visit home, and Curry Lounge did not disappoint. We ordered two combo plates, which were more than enough for two people. The portions were generous! The butter chicken was lovely, and it definitely leans into the tomato flavors. However, the two showstoppers for me were the chicken tikka masala and vegetable samosas. They were incredibly flavorful! I also ordered the Masala Chai, which was affordable and tasted authentic. Service was quick and polite. This place is definitely appropriate for a casual lunch or dinner if you're stopping by the Artesia area. Only tough part is finding parking, but the downtown parking lot behind it had technical difficulties when we went, so we parked for free.

7/3/2026 First time…read moreat Curry Lounge. SAMOSAS (VEGETABLE / POTATO) Good curry and spices that hits you at the end. Strong cumin flavor with visible cumin seeds. The flavor is a bit spicier than I'm used to. The potatoes and peas were fluffy and the outer pastry was flaky with a light crisp. Enjoyed every bite! Came with mint chutney and tamarind chutney. Sadly, the mint chutney tasted a bit funny, like it gone bad. The tamarind chutney was very sweet. I usually eat samomas plain without any chutneys, so it wasn't a problem. The samosas were very good! I would reorder these! PLAIN RICE Not mushy, distinct separation of rice, good texture and it was done well. CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA Got this in medium heat, the spicy level was light, just a light hit of spice. I think I could have handled a bit more heat. Overall tomato-based flavor with a bit of creaminess and the chicken were cut bigger, which was nice and moist. There was a bit of smokiness at the end as well. It was delicious with the rice. This was good, but I've had more depth of flavor from other places. LACHHA PARATHA Haven't tried this before. This had light flaky layers. Light in oil flavor. Overall, it wasn't bad, yet I wanted more flakiness and crisp which I did not get. A touch of salt would have been nice too. This was a bit bland. One thing they did not add to my takeout order is utensils. I did see takeout utensils on the way out, so not sure if they want customers adding their own utensils, but it would have been nice if they packed them in your takeout order. CUSTOMER SERVICE Ordered to go via phone. Early afternoon order on a Friday. Called through their number listed on Google. Friendly over the phone and my order were all correct. Order was ready when I arrived. Friendly service all around. Really enjoyed the curry, rice and samosas! Will definitely return to try more curries in the future! PARKING I do not know if there was any parking in the back of the restaurant, but I luckily found street parking close to the restaurant. It seems there is only street parking for most of the restaurants and stores located on that street.

Diving into the details - the restaurant decor is quite formal and has always been kind of surprising to be given that I often come for casual meals. The staff are well dressed in white button ups and always very polite so it's good vibes all around. If you know me, I'm nothing if not predictable. I always get the butter chicken and unapologetically so. IT IS SO GOOD. I refuse to be shamed into trying other things and if that makes me basic, so be it. In case you haven't guessed, I'm also always getting their garlic naan as well. I've tried other dishes before but nothing beats the chicken. One thing I will say is the spiciness fluctuates every time even though I always ask for medium so do with that what you will.

This was such a great spontaneous discovery. They have a small parking lot in the front where we parked, but then we saw later on that they also have additional parking in the back if you don' see spots in the front. Upon entering the staff was welcoming. The gave us a few tables to choose from that were cleaned and appropriate for 2 people. I just want to say service was impeccable our whole time there. Everyone on their team took turns checking on us, making sure our waters were refilled, and that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. So nice!! As we explored the menu, we saw the combination dinners that allowed us to get more variety, which we love. We both picked a different combo so we could share and try more things. My boyfriend enjoys tandoori so he went with the Mix Tandoori Grill ($26.95) that comes with an assortment of Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Seekh Kabab, Chicken Tikka, Fish Tikka served in a sizzling platter on a bed of onions with naan, rice, and gulab jamun. So much food! I picked the India Special ($24.95) which comes with chicken tikka, the choice of lamb or chicken curry which I opted for the chicken, veg, korma, raita, rice, naan, and gulab jamun. What a FEAST!! For the naan I asked for the garlic naan and it was INCREDIBLE. Wow! Might be THEE best Indian food I have ever enjoyed. Between the two of our orders I felt like I had the variety I have when I go eat at Indian buffets. My boyfriend loved the tandooris platter. All of the proteins were cooked perfectly. I assume they were prepped separately to get to the right cooking temp. So funny because my boyfriend was eating the rice while I was indulging in the naan. Dipping the naan in the curry and the korma. Nom Nom Nom! So fun and so delicious. My boyfriend was even saying this is one of the best meals he had in a while. I was so full when the gulab jamun dessert came out at the end but it was so delicious I still ate all of it. Without a doubt the best execution of this dessert I have ever had. We will definitely be back when we find ourselves craving Indian food.

The butter chicken is my favorite, I know it's the most basic b Indian food but everything I've tried has been awesome. Sangeetha's cooking has made me ok with trying some vegetarian food when I thought I'd never like any non meat-centric dish. Swing by, try something new or enjoy something old. Relevant - it's not super spicy, but that's ok to me, it's more accessible to people that might be turned off by excessive spice - I have some scorpion pepper powder that I add to bring the heat, and it doesn't hurt the flavor that I've come to love. They're not open Mondays, but hey - she deserves time off! A suggestion if I may - grab an extra bowl of butter chicken alongside whatever else you get, and throw a fried egg or two on top the next morning for breakfast. DOES NOT HAVE BANANAS! As a professional simian that is of note, but not a negative ;) There are random snacks I've never seen before, I've tried a few and have been happy with what I've sampled. The bottles of mango lassi are super tasty and for me, it helps my heartburn.

The Malai Chicken, same thing. No flavor. Just salt. The samosa looked very appetizing. But then you get this pungent aroma of olive oil. I think they fry it in olive oil or some oil that's not meant for samosa. Because it stinks and the flavor is awful. The yellow daal was meh so was the Jerra rice and naan.
