We first tried this place in July of last year while visiting Los Angeles, and we have been craving their biryani ever since. Recently, my sister in law drove up from Los Angeles and brought us the chicken Beswada, Amravati lamb, and Amravati paneer biryanis. The flavor was exactly how we remembered it from our first visit. Everything was rich, aromatic, and incredibly satisfying. My brother had never tried it before, and after having the chicken biryani, he said his only disappointment was that this place is six hours away from us. Even though the biryani was a day old by the time we ate it, it still tasted amazing and held its flavor and quality. That really says a lot about how well their food is prepared. My sister in law did mention that the lady at the counter was a little rude during pickup, but thankfully the food itself was still on point and lived up to our expectations. Very disappointed with the service at Pista House. pioneer blvd, Artesia Our food delivery was delayed by more than an hour, the food that was supposed to deliver by 6:40 came at 8:00 and despite calling multiple times, the owner did not pick up the phone. When the food finally arrived, oil was literally floating on the curries. On top of that, no chutney was provided with the punugulu and pakora. The delivery person also forgot to bring the dahi vada, so I had to go through the whole calling process again before it was finally delivered. When I asked about the missing chutney, the delivery person had no clue about it -- and honestly, I don't blame him because he's just the delivery person doing his job. Overall, very poor management, lack of communication, and disappointing food quality. Definitely not the experience we expected. read more

Recently, we've been enjoying a lot of Pista House specialities from Artesia during several house-warming ceremonies, and we finally decided to order their food for our event in San Diego. Rakesh kindly offered to deliver the food all the way to San Diego. We put together a menu that included Bendī Fry, Methi Malai Paneer, Masala Vankaya, Amaravathi Paneer Biryani, Rasmalai, Naans, and Rotis. The food was simply amazing--each item tasted better than the next. We also had several non-Andhra families at the party, and they were genuinely impressed with the quality and flavor of the dishes. Came to the restaurant with some close friends who are used to eating at nice restaurants. We were served dinner in paper disposable plates. This was sign number one that there is an issue. We ordered different dishes, which all seem to have been heated up in a microwave and not cooked freshly. The Haleem was especially atrocious as it was super thick and clearly not made that day. The biryani was OK. The other chicken dishes we ordered also seem to have been reheated. Moral of the story is never go to this restaurant as the food is atrocious. When I arrived, I had to wait even longer because the order was not ready. Heard a lot about the famous haleem of Pista house so we finally decided to try it. Arrived around 11:15 on Sunday and was told it would be another 30 mins before the haleem would be ready! Not an issue, waited and got it to go. Got home and tried it, the texture was alright but the overall taste was just not there and it was packed with way too much spices and heat. WORST EXPERIENCE How can people even support such place who serves food that is cooked somewhere else and served in the restaurant. I understand Biryani Lovers like to go there coz of original Pista House in Hyderabad India. But seriously just because of that you have to eat here too. Anything and everything we ordered didn't have any taste. We ordered: Lamb Kebab: just by looking at it you could tell they microwaved then. Chetinad Chicken curry: was ok. Not too bad not too good. But it was reheated too. Chicken Lollipops: they were also premade and were just fried in hot oil just before serving Bezawada Chicken Biriyani: this was the best thing in our whole order. Garlic Naan: OMG... they pathetic. Frozen naans over heated and were tasing stale. We ordered 2 naans and I could not even have 1 bite. ALL THE FOOD WE ORDERED WAS BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PERSON AT THE CASH COUNTER. So imagine, they best food was like this. I would never go back to this place. We ordered: Biryani with spicy chicken Haleem Hara Korhimiri chicken tikka Chicken 65 Every dish was incredibly good with perfect amount of spice. It was a hot day so the strong air conditioning was appreciated. The only negative thing: We paid 15% tip but the worker asked us to bus our own table at the end. We love the Pista House so much that we drive the 45 minutes from Beverly Hills to Artesia every other weekend JUST for their authentic Hyderabadi Goat Biriyani. Their spicy curry is so good. Sometimes it's less or more spicy but always delicious. The Goat Chukka is a new favorite. The service is great too, they are very friendly and accommodating to our requests for extra limes, onions, raita etc. The decor is pretty basic but it's clean and we are really there for the food. It's easily our favorite place to eat in Los Angeles and we have tried pretty much every Indian restaurant in LA, because the spices are on point here and the flavor hits every time. My work had an Indian theme lunch this past Wednesday. They ordered the foods from Pista House (PH) in Artesia. Wow... that's a distance from Pasadena, but hey, a huge order of foods is worth the drive. I'm sure gas money was reimbursed. I personally would drive any hours for foods I love to eat. It's not the distance, it's the destination that matters. Anyway, I enjoyed the Indian foods. They were all excellent. Just the right amount of spice and sweetness. They didn't have the food item names indicated just "meat" or "vegetarian" LOL. I'll have to look up the food items and try my best to name them all here. Below are what I can make out... if you know the rest of the foods based on the pic, please let me know LOL. Stopped here with my mom to check it out as we noticed more people going into this restaurant than others. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of lamb kabob, goat biryani and the yummy naan. The flavor is great, nothing is too salty and meat was well marinated and delicious. The service was great as well - we appreciated the lady in the front who confirmed it is halal meat and let us take our time ordering. The prices are descent as Indian food is definitely more expensive in south OC. The ambiance is simple but everything is clean. No complaints. We will be back : ) read more

Over the years of our marriage my husband has been regaling me with stories and sagas of hyderabadi food. He credits the city of Hyderabad to convert a vegetarian by choice into a non-vegetarian. He was still urging me to choose some north Indian or gujarati restaurants, he saw the folks crowding into. But in my foodie mind, we can easily find good punjabi/gujrati fare in Vancouver, BC which is 3 hours drive away from Seattle. I wanted to choose something we won't be finding easily in Seattle. So we went in. And boy were we glad ! We ordered hyderabadi goat dum biriyani, Haleem, pepper chicken curry and naan to start with. When the taste buds started singing the song of nostalgia, my husband ordered chicken lollipop too ! The biriyani was no-fuss delicious. And when my husband said it tasted exactly like the biriyani he had in the establishment by the same name, I couldn't have praised the food better. This is not some franchise which has let the taste down. They were able to give us the same taste we would have had in Pista house back in Hyderabad. Please please keep it the same. What a disaster! Server confirmed they're serving frozen naans. I couldn't tell my order of butter chicken and chicken chettinad apart in both the color and taste. Both of these items were reheated and not made fresh. The bezwada biryani was bakwaas as well. Stay away! read more
