Came here with coworkers for some after work drinks on a Friday night. Luckily, we snagged a reservation the night before because we had a big group! Little Dipper is really vibey - think dim lighting, candles and a starry filled ceiling. The space is small with VERY limited seating. I would definitely recommend making a reservation. To start, I of course had to order from the Zodiac drink menu! I got my Pisces themed drink which was the Lunar Lullabye. It was gin based with strawberry and panda - I didn't love it but had to try! Food-wise, the menu is pretty small with some eclectic options like chicken bites with caviar and eggplant toast. We ordered a bunch of plates so I was able to try the chicken bites with caviar, Oysters with BBQ Mignonette, Dry-Aged Burger Dog and Tuna Caviar. The Tuna Caviar was excellent as was the Burger Dog. They call it a Burger Dog, because it is long like a hot dog. LOL The chicken bites were okay, the oysters with bbq were a pleasant surprise! I didn't think I would enjoy a BBQ mignonette. Someone at the table ordered the eggplant toast but it didn't look appetizing to me so I didn't try. Their menu also offers sushi! On Fridays, Little Dipper hosts a burlesque show at 8pm. This little speakeasy can be easy to miss, but quite a gem when you find it. You go downstairs into a dark space filled with stars and space to really fit with the astrology theme. I love how there's a drink that correlates to each astrology sign, which is so fun. As much as I wanted to get the drink of my sign, I decided to opt for something that tasted good from the flavors listed. I ordered Gemini's Vedant Twin ($22) and my friend got Libra's Cataluna Spritz ($22). The cocktails were pretty and tasty! They fun flavors give it much creativity to the drinks. My drink was a green tea soju with vodka topped with some crunchy and refreshing snap peas --definitely never seen that in a cocktail before. They also offer food including caviar and omakase, so you can make quite a fancy date here. Such a great theme and vibe to this bar --would definitely return to try more cocktails next time. The true mark of a speakeasy is whether or not it's hard to find, and The Little Dipper does the term speakeasy justice because we walked up and down the block three times until we found the inconspicuous door that led to the downstairs bar. Now while you're in the bar, that's another story. It's less of a speakeasy vibe and more of a gay bar? Instead of soft jazz or ambient music, there was a mix of Michael Jackson and Madonna. And a happy surprise of a burlesque show. And as there is nothing inherently wrong with any of this, the theme of sitting under the stars and sipping on a dainty cocktail while whispering to your best friend is actually more of a boisterous affair. Again, nothing wrong with that but the marketing, vibe, and decoration, all tell different stories. What was consistent was the friendly and efficient service. We were consistently served by two people and they were both great. Drinks were a mixed bag but leaned on the better side. My favorite cocktail, hands down, was the lunar lullaby (pisces) that was a fragrant mix of strawberry and pandan. I would've gotten three of those if I could. On the other hand, I tried the velvet venom but disliked it so much I sent it back after two sips. It really is luck of the draw. The Zodiac Zest (Aquarius) and Verdant Twin (Gemini) were both decent but we realized the Aquarius drink wasn't mixed very well and the syrup sank to the bottom of the glass. The Verdant Twin is pretty decent but not sure I'd go out of my way to order it again. And for a drinking snack, my best friend and I shared the uni tots which were pretty tasty and did good to absorb the alcohol. I would say the drinks here are definitely an acquired taste. We tried each other's drinks and we had mixed feelings. Our drinks came out one at a time so it took a little longer than usual for all of us to get our drinks. Our server was very friendly and was very informed on the drinks and food that were popular. Since we arrived so early we were informed that sushi and hand rolls were not available until 7 which was a bit of a letdown since we had to leave around that time. This place is definitely is on the pricer side with drinks being standard to nyc prices. Especially in midtown. The actually place itself is quite small with only a couple tables plus the bar. I'm not sure if there was another area as we didn't stay too long. From what we saw it's definitely best for smaller groups. It is in a touristy area so keep that in mind. Food: They serve a variety of handrolls and small bites. My only concern was the handrolls were being made from a small cart that was inside the bar. It was very dark and I could not tell if there was any ice or proper refrigeration of the fish. From what I could see, the raw sashimi was sitting in boxes in room temperature. The seaweed was soggy but the flavor of the handrolls were decent! We also got the uni tater tots which were fun and the chicken & caviar, can't go wrong with either. Cocktails: I was left wanting more with the cocktails. They were astrology-themed which is a fun concept. The taste and presentation was just not there. I stayed at the hotel next door and saw this door open with paint designs and said, that couldn't be a storage facility. Went to dinner and looked up the location to find out it is a cocktail bar!!! I love hidden gems like this. I reserved for 7 but Resy changed it to 2 which is bad because you are required to put a card down. Anywoo, we went down there and it was so cool and beautiful! Black light art going down stairs and you turn left and see a very cozy dimly lit bar with an astrology theme. They had room for us so we had some great drinks! I saw the ads on TikTok and was super excited to try this out. Made a reservation for six of my friends and we were all hyped. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. To be clear, it's in its soft opening and not totally ready. There's only five cocktails on the menu - options are limited compared to what's listed on the website. And the drinks...need some work. While I applaud their desire to be experimental, most did not meet the mark. The Pisces cocktail tasted like nothing, the Taurus cocktail tasted like pure Mezcal, and the Libra cocktail tasted like cough syrup. The Leo drink tasted fine, at least. The uni tots are good, but it does seem like odd combo. There was a sushi chef available for rolls, which is great. Unfortunately, we were most excited for the tarot card reader that the ads had, but no one was available for that last night. I want to be clear - the service was lovely and we had no issue with our servers. And we really, really want this idea to succeed! It's mainly focused in the drinks but the place itself had some touches of galaxy decor like the lit up panels on the ceiling with shooting stars. It's a very small place which makes for an intimate setting. They really know how to get people drunk here, staring off with free sake shots for the table. Drinks are on the pricier side but they created some very unique ones to taste. I love the descriptions on the menu for each drink and the presentation of each one. The food is very expensive and the hand roll cart is really just for aesthetics because I wouldn't want to drop $18 for a small piece of sushi. My party did not end up getting food. One amazing thing that happened was the Burlesque show by Nikki Bellanova. We had no idea it was happening until we got there and were lucky to have booked a table prior. For drinks we had the Balance (which had whipped cream and tastes like cough medicine) and Grounded (tastes like a smokey weird meaty flavor) which was recommended by our waiter. We also had welcome shots which taste like I accidentally consumed perfume. Service seemed nice initially with welcome shots, however pretty sure our waiter could tell how bad the drinks are because he didn't return to ask how we're doing at all (like the other two tables next to us). I came for the soft opening as a guest of a friend and let me tell you, I can't wait to come back! This cocktail bar is astrology themed where they have 12 cocktails for each zodiac. You walk into the space and it's already such a vibe. The ceiling is made so that you feel like you're under the night sky as if you're about to go star gazing. The decor and feel of the bar was very nice, the lights were constellation shaped, and the walls had great glow in the dark art. This place is a whole experience. The dinner is real intimate where you get to speak with the workers and discuss the food and drinks. The food is delicious and the cocktails are one of a kind. Try the tuna caviar. They have an amazing mixologist named Francisco that can make you very specific drinks or try one of the zodiac specific beverages that truly match well with your sign. Warrior vibe was my favorite drink. Our waiter Aerial was incredible and provided us great explanations of the food and spoke with us about the restaurant and we had some great conversations with him. The workers make you feel comfortable and the ambiance is exactly what you would think. Stars all over the ceiling and one of the coolest entrance's you'll ever see. They seat the entire restaurant at the same time so there aren't any random stragglers that walk in. Will definitely be coming back to this place on our next trip to NYC. Honestly overpriced, I love uni (sea urchin) so I went specifically for that, they didn't even prepare the sea urchin properly, they didn't clean the poop out or rinse it out so definitely chef didn't know how to prepare high quality food at all. The drinks aren't all that great except for about a 2 or 3. Cute presentation but definitely a rip off because they advertise to put the whole sea urchin but i can tell they only cut up like 2-3 pieces it's a joke. Same with the mushroom drink they had photos of, turns out they only put a tiny piece in the drink. Scam.
