This review is based on hostess service alone. We tried to eat here on a weekday. We call and ask if they have a table for 5 outside (4 adults one child). They say yes and they have a few tables open. we let them know we are a few blocks away from (by Reynaldo's) and are on the way. We arrive in a few minutes and let the hosts (one new and one in training) that we are there for a table of 5 outside. They say ohhhhh hmmmmm hold on let me see what we can do...a bit weird since we called to check and let them know we were on the way but we say ok and wait. We wait for at least 10 minutes. A group of 4 adults and a dog come up and ask for a table outside as well. I hear them press the staff for a table quickly. I worry a bit about this conversation but see a table of 5 being set up for us so I'm relieved. Then to my shock I see a chair being pulled away and the hostess go to these upscale out of towners and start to seat them at our table. I speak up for us and say excuse me, we were here long before them. She says, I'm sorry. I'm kinda shocked at her response, just an I'm sorry?! I let her know this isn't okay and that we were here first and should be seated first. This continues as she says, sorry, i know, I don't know. She tells me she's new and she training and she doesn't know. That they have a dog and this is the only place they would fit? Since when does this take precedence over a party there first? She then decides to tell me, after running through several excuses, they had a reservation and that had to take care of them right away. I call her on her bluff as we are there the whole time and witnessed the other tables interaction and conversation with little doms - such bs. Meanwhile, the other party now at the table instead of being humble and saying oh we didn't know this, here you take the table, just looks at us and smirks. I go to the other host who also says she's new, she's sorry and it's her fault. Little Dom's made a mistake - we're human but they should have corrected the situation right away. And shame on the other party for not doing the right thing. read more

Amazing service and food. The freshest seafood you'll get anywhere near Carp or Montecito. The outdoor seating is perfect. They have heaters and the tables are spaced far enough where you feel safe and can enjoy your meal. Try the Wood Oven fish, by far my favorite entree!! Can't wait to try their breakfast menu!!! read more

I was here twice this week for birthday celebrations. Both my experiences were excellent! Last night we got individualized drink recommendations from the bartender, and the chef came by our table to discuss the food. I had the drink special, a pomegranate margarita, and it was incredible!! Each food item was delicious. They can take something simple like an artichoke, or potatoes, and make it feel like a celebration meal. The taste, texture, and appearance of each dish was impressive. We had such friendly servers, felt like we were hanging out with friends. It's definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special occasion. And we can all use an excuse to celebrate right now! read more

We vacation in Carpinteria about 3-4 times a year and were excited to try a new restaurant. This will be our one and only time eating at Little Dom's. There were 5 in our party so some of the entrees were fair. The artichoke appetizer was just awful. The tenderloin was good but the server failed to mention you ONLY get the tenderloin, nothing else, with the $28 steak, she didn't even suggest some sides, we would have gotten a clue; we had a good laugh though when it arrived at our table and placed in front of my 17 year old grandson, he was sure the tiny piece of meat wasn't his dinner. When we left my grandson walked across the street, to a pizza joint, and ordered a pizza to go, he obviously was still very hungry. Everything was overpriced, the portions are small. Our server was sweet but not helpful at all. The menu was confusing, we could have benefited from some explanation. My daughter was interested in their gluten free pasta but couldn't figure out how to order and the server wasn't any help, the server actually made it more confusing. What surprises me are some of the good reviews on Yelp. We really wanted to like the restaurant but no bueno!! read more

My friends and I decided to dine here, thinking we had found a gem in Carpentia! Lovely exterior seating with potted plants, modern look to the restaurant and heat lamps! The menu sounded promising but sadly we had eaten earlier in the day and could only dine on sides and 1 pasta dish. We ordered the rice balls, brussel sprouts, cauliflower risotto (2) and the tonnarelli cacio e pepe. All I can say is "eh." It was mediocre at best. The cauliflower risotto was shredded instead of riced which I thought was odd, and was missing the glossy sheen that is characteristic of risotto. Overall, the dish was bland and desperately needed more salt (not sure if there was any on it to begin with) with additional seasoning. The brussel sprouts and rice balls were okay, they got the job done, but nothing took my breath away. The tonnarelli cacio e pepe, was served at room temperature and had a consistency that would be similar to leaving out a dish out for a couple hours. Our waitresses on the other hand were polite and attentive, no complaints there. Perhaps if we had tried the main dishes we would've had a better experience but a good restaurant should be consistent from its mains to its sides. Hope they can get the correct seasoning down some day, lots of potential here and great location! read more

We went for my birthday and had a wonderful dinner! Our waiter, Francesco?, was superb as was the food: smoked salmon, which is smoked on site, with burrata I think - amazing, rice balls, delicious, a wonderful chicken Parmesan reminiscent of my youth, the caprese, sautéed kale! I ordered the smoked salmon plate and a pepperoni pizza. The smoke salmon was good. What there was. The burrata was good bud got solid fast. I give them a pass because it's carp. A few things. Our waitress abandoned us, no dessert or refills offered, didn't even hear about the specials. Watched the table next to us - who we happened to be with, have tons of attention from the wait staff. The menu didn't describe much so we guessed and took chances. Flatbread pizza was burnt, which over took the taste. Snapper Crudo was extremely minimal, so don't order as your main dish- especially for the price. Peel and eat shrimps were very small. read more

Recently, my girlfriend and I decided to grab a couple pizzas to-go one evening, and we spent $46 for two pizzas, and two sparkling waters. We've heard great things about the restaurant so we wanted to give it a shot. The pizzas we received however were not that great. The pizza was as thin as a potato chip, there was little to no cheese or sauce, and minimal toppings. For roughly $16 a pizza, we were disappointed. This isn't to discourage anyone from going to little Dom's, but only to inform you not to order their $16 giant cracker pizza. read more

Purchased three pizzas from Dom's yesterday. I was shocked at the total cost of about $75! And they weren't even good pizzas, minimal cheese and toppings, and a crust so thin in crumbled in the hand. This was our first trip to Carpinteria, and I made a list of restaurants to visit based on reviews of locations on Linden. I had written this place off because the reviews are only four out of five stars, but we happened to walk by them one night and noticed the fresh oysters, which is a favorite for my husband and I. We decided to give them a try tonight, and we were really happy we did! All the food was very fresh, tasty, and great ambience. What was the most amazing was the customer service, I felt like we were getting checked on every five minutes!! We had one main server, but several different people brought out our food, and another waitress in the nearby area kept checking on us as well. Everyone was very friendly and helpful!! Little Dom's earned a 10 out of 10 for me. Oh how I miss Sly's but all good things must come to an end. The bar was high, and Little Dom's met and exceeded my expectations. Kudos Little Dom's! Outstanding oysters, straight out of the channel uni served in the shell (which is the only way I would eat uni), and to-die-for smoked fish rillettes spread on LD's flatbread. Carpinteria is/has become quite the spot for some of the best food (and freshest and tastiest seafood) in the county. The cocktails are amazing as well. read more

The food and service was excellent. Strangely enough, none of the four of us had any seafood dishes: 2 orders of Cacio e Pepe, Chicken Parmesan and Smoked Beef Tenderloin. We also had Cauliflower "Risotto" (which my wife thought was the best dish), Sauteed Corn and Wood Oven Roasted Carrots (which we all agreed needs a better sauce than the yogurt). I was greeted immediately when I walked in the door. It looked like the bar was full but the host pointed me to an empty seat. As soon as I sat down one of the bartenders came over to let me know it was the tail end of happy hour and pointed me to the specials as well as the regular menu and brought me a glass of water while I made up my mind. I was impressed by the menu as well as the decor of the place. It looks upscale but feels laid back, just as a nice place a block or two from the beach in a sleepy beach town should be. I tried the rice ball from the happy hour menu to start. It's risotto and cubes of mozzarella rolled into a ball and pan-fried. The crust was crispy while the interior was soft and gooey. Both the crust and the interior were delicious. It was my plan to just have a snack and wait out the traffic on the freeway but I decided to get the fried oyster sandwich to take home. It was wonderful! I'm looking forward to going back and trying other things on their menu. The prices were quite reasonable considering where this place is and what it is. We just had lunch here and it was fantastic! The service was amazing. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. The sidewalk tables are terrific. The black rice and vegetable bowl with fish was out of this world. The flavors were so unique. We also loved the fish appetizer with cucumber and tomato. Prices are reasonable. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. Covid friendly too. Can't wait to return!!!! read more

I was in town visiting with my son and we have enjoyed the fresh fish and creative menu here to be a "go to" choice for us. With staffing issues, we had a wait 30 minutes to be seated despite empty tables in view. The food covered the extremes of wonderful to disappointing. The oysters and the fettunta are very fresh and excellent. The halibut is local and delicious, however the remainder of the experience fell flat The stuffed shell pasta tasted like yesterday's crab. The shells were crunchy and dried out. The vodka sauce tasteless and an afterthought. A second attempt at pasta arrived over-salted and inedible. We moved on to dessert. The suggested peach cobbler was sold out and a substitute chocolate olive oil cake had enough sea salt crystals to taste like a pretzel. We will give little Dom's another try because we know they are capable of delighting our palates. Our experience this time just didn't deliver. read more

Incredibly disappointed. I met four friend for lunch. I ordered the cast iron fish sandwich. The fish itself was fine, but the aioli was way too spicy and there was nothing that could be substituted. Not even good old-fashioned mayonnaise. The potatoes were fine. Two friends ordered the tuna salad, and was apparently quite good. The "meal" of boiled shrimp consisted of exactly 7 shrimp on a bowl of ice. And $14 for a margarita is outrageous. The acoustics in that place are horrible. It is extremely loud, and that includes patrons and staff. But the worst part was at the end. The waitress told us she wasn't allowed to split the check, and we couldn't even ask for separate checks. One of our party took half an hour trying to figure out how much each of us owed. Completely ridiculous! We did ask to speak to the manager to complain about that. We were told splitting the check could have been done, but the waitress said that one of the managers told her she wasn't allowed to. So, a little communication issue going on there. Literally the worst place to eat in Carpinteria. Me and my parents ordered our meals that were more than $20 each plate and it all tasted absolutely awful. Not to mention we sat there for about 35 minutes before they even thought about finally taking our order. After about an hour and a half of eating mediocre and bad tasting food, the bill was $200. We didn't complain about the price because we knew it was an expensive place but we still wanted to see why there was always so many people there.... I still don't understand why... Overall, the best experience was the kind man helping my father clean up his mess after he had broken a glass and he immediately came to the rescue and even refilled his drink. I forgot to mention, we paid with $300 cash and expected $98 back.... we got $48!!! I was annoyed and I went in there asking for the rest of my money and our waitress runs from the corner of the restaurant with the rest of the money she owed us and said "oh my god, I am so sorry I just found this over by the register. I totally forgot to give it to you" I call bullsh*t. Anyways we ended up tipping them $30 which I regret because they didn't deserve that at all, except the cleanup boy. So basically, don't go here. Horrible food for a horrible price... I wish Slys had stayed open because they were much better than this place. (we ordered the Chicken Parmesan, Fish Picatta, A Sirloin steak, a dozen Oysters, tequila, a vodka cran, and a very salty chocolate cake for desert) read more

We were intrigued to try Little Dom's in Carprinteria given the great reviews we had heard of the Los Feliz location. However, we were very disappointed in the overall dining experience. To begin, we ordered a vodka/orange juice which came out without orange juice. The food was not up to par. In particular, we ordered a classic Italian meal of spaghetti and meatballs, and the spaghetti was undercooked and the sauce was bland. Pasta is a staple of Italian cuisine, and to have a basic foundational element of Italian cuisine such as spaghetti being served undercooked, is a huge problem. We then requested bread, which came out warm on the outside and still frozen in the middle (why is the bread even frozen and not fresh?!) As far as ambiance goes, the music that originated from the interior of the restaurant overpowering, grungy/techno feel and not in line the expectation of what a classical Italian restaurant would play. A suggestion would be to pipe in some Rat Pack or more classical italian vibe music. The toilet used (middle one) smelled of urine. The check was presented with just a paper clip laid directly on the table. It's unconceivable that a restaurant with such success in Los Feliz could not leverage all of the goodness that made that location so strong for this new outlet in Carpinteria.
