Beer was awesome. The staff was great on a few different visits. This is my new go to place.

Heckler Brewing is a great local brewery, and it's got an excellent vibe to it. The staple brews…read morethey have are definitely respectable and especially the English IPA. They don't have an overwhelming draft or canned menu which to me is appreciated. I don't mind choices however when you have a craft beer menu that's deep it can be quite daunting. So to the Heckler crew, thank you for keeping it simple. This visit I had the Fried Pickles which if being honest were good but they're not the best I've had. If I could give a recommendation I would move away from the breading that's being used as I feel it takes away from the actual pickle which for me is about 90% of the taste profile. The breading was a bit overpowering. Sometimes simple is better. But that's just my opinion as a fried pickle enthusiast. Now as for the pizza, I have to give a solid high five. I've been here three times and everytime I've gotten a pizza and none have disappointed. This time around I got the meat lovers and it was fresh, and delicious. Overall, Heckler is a great place to go and one thing I do love about this place is that it's always a chill vibe, with great service.

There were about 10 choices and after a couple of free samples I ordered their stout beer. It went well with the bbq chicken pizza. I was told by the brew master that they use their beer when making the fresh dough for the pizzas they make at the restaurant. It was a good touch.

It's has plenty of seating and by the time we left was packed with guests. Our service was fine. Ended up getting a flight of beer to be able to sample a few of their brews, the stout was the best one. Super smooth to the palate. Ended up getting a pizza which had a selection of their smoked meats on it, it didn't disappoint. Some portions of the crust were a little too hard as opposed to softer and chewy. Price point was not bad at all. Great place!

I'm not going to say who did, because I don't know if that's something the bar staff was even supposed to do. But i certainly did appreciate the gesture. The Pivoted Hazy IPA is the one of the best beers I've tried in years. Great flavor, not too heavy, well balanced, hint of citrus flavor. Not a lot of great things tend to come out of New England, but the IPAs are one! I also liked the lime wheel beer. Not too sweet, sour, or tart, just very well balanced and refreshing. If you want to go with a real West Coast IPA, the Thistle Brew will do the job. The piney notes and grapefruit flavors are quite pronounced. This wasn't necessarily my style, but I think it will please those who prefer the hoppier flavors. I scored a free sticker too. Bathrooms are really small...and make sure you move the lock latch all the way over...I'll just leave it there.

Southern Pines brews some absolutely awesome dark beers. Absolutely try out their bourbon barel aged Drunken Vigils and German Chocolate Cake varieties that will each top out over 10 percent abv. Prices are very fair for top shelf craft drafts, expect 6 to 8 dollar per pour, and they have bottles and cans for purchase to take away as well. No in house food prepared here, but you can get delivery or bring in your own. They've got lots of standard merch for purchase and the wifi is strong and free, just like 'merica! I love their beers and this place has a nice vibe with friendly beer tenders and good, fresh, fairly priced beer. It's a hit.
