This pizza is great if you like tomato sauce that tastes like a mix of ketchup + bbq sauce. It's such a shame too bc the crust, cheese, temperature were all perfect. But the tomato sauce tastes awful. Tomato sauce is supposed to be tangy, have some semblance of salt. There wasn't one hint of salt in this tomato sauce. It literally tasted like someone just dumped a bottle of ketchup on top and called it a night. So disappointing because this could be a great pizza but the sauce is so disgusting. I found this place on a recommendation from a coworker and I was not disappointed. This is now my go to pizza place lately. The crust is thin and crispy, the cheese and toppings that I've tried are fresh (pepperoni, pepper and onion, extra cheese) and the sauce is some of the best sweet sauce I've ever tasted on a pizza. After reading all the reviews we thought we would give it a try. We did like the sweet sauce but that was about it. The crust was kind of funky and the cheese had little flavor. I live in NH but used to live in Beverly - I still get Little Italy pizza every time I come back. My whole family of 6 loves it and fight over the leftovers. The pizza sauce is sweet, which is a refreshing change from run of the mill pizza. It isn't for everyone, but the ones that don't like it can go somewhere else leaving more for me :) read more

This was the only restaurant I went to while I was in Beverly and it was terrible. I'm from New Jersey and I think the pizza here is not that good, but somehow this was SIGNIFICANTLY worse. The original owners use to make AMAZING New York style pizza. Slices of mozzarella. The toppings were all incredible. The mother and father were off the boat from Italy. Their older son made incredible pies as well. She use to swear at you in Italian if you didn't have correct change. To this day they were the best pizzas I have ever had anywhere and rivaled what I use to have in New York city. AND THEN..... they sold it. The owners bragged they learned the recipes and the pizzas would be just as good. During the transition they were. Then when it was over the pizzas changed and became glorified Dominos. The first time I thought it was a mistake. The second time shame on me. I see they are still open. A friend said they had gone there and said it was the same as the last time I was there. The worst part isn't I don't like the pizzas. It is they use to be like filet Mignon and now they are Salisbury Steak. read more

I haven't a clue how this place survives. The super thin sauce is made with about 1000 metric tons of sugar. It's all I could focus on. Take jar of Hunt's tomato sauce and add a bunch of sugar. Get some frozen breadsticks and sluice that tomato juice/sugar mix onto the breadsticks -that's Little Italy's pizza. I had the sausage and onion, a pepper and onion, and a cheese. Also, this tasted nothing like any pizza I've had in any of the "Little Italy's" in the US -North End, for example. This joint's stuff tasted nothing like any pizza I've had in Italy for that matter. Save your loot and get some frozen Newman's Own or something bootleg. read more

Where to start...I arrived at 7:15pm on a Saturday night, looking to get a quick bite before my 8pm show at The Cabot. I ordered a small calzone and was told that they were running behind and it would be 25 minutes. Okay, a little tight but I can eat fast so I decided to stick it out. Those 25 minutes come and go (free wifi, thankfully) and the clock started ticking closer and closer to 8. I was getting nervous and asked for it to go. Finally, at 7:50 (35 minutes total), I got my pizza box and bolted. Because I had such little time and had to park so far away (parking in Beverly is terrible), I literally ran the box the 1/2 mile to my car, dropped it off, and ran back to the theater, arriving just barely in time for my show. After the show, I finally got my first look at the calzone which, by that time, was cold. I reheated it in the hotel microwave (3 hours after I bolted with the box) and made the best of a bad situation. The calzone itself was quite good - cheesy and well-filled. The accompanying sweet sauce was a good compliment. If that was a small, though, I'd be scared to see the large. The small was enough for two people, easily. Overall, I wouldn't rule out returning if I was in the area and wanted pizza but I was generally disappointed with the level of service. The staff was clearly busy and behind but even one quick update/acknowledgment would have gone a long way. read more

I really, honestly think that it's probably the best pizza I have ever had (and I've been to the real Italy). Foolish to think that Little Italy gets any bad reviews. Sometimes the service is friendly and sometimes they are a tad salty but the pies? Phenomenal. Not that I take crack, but I assume it is an immediate and somewhat unpleasant high obtained by a cheap and potentially deadly narcotic that you remain forever addicted to. I live on the west coast now so only get to have it when I visit the family but I usually get a large for myself and save some for the plane ride back home. I do miss the pizza nazi who used to own this place. A little old Italian woman who would make you pay 50 cents to sit down and eat. only could eat slices at the bar and would always argue with her husband and son. such good entertainment. It was a good 20 minutes until I got there. While I was in line, the man in front of me gave his name and the 2 guys behind the counter kind of looked at each other and scrambled around before telling the customer that they forgot to put in his order. He left, obviously pissed. So, I step up to the counter. They forgot mine, too! Now, I understand that everyone has stressful days. I LOVE PIZZA. It's been really hard living in Salem to find a consistently decent pizza place so after reading several reviews about this place my husband and I decided to check it out. We were surprisingly delighted. The pizza is definitely unique and awesome. An added bonus is that you can sit and enjoy a cold Peroni while they make your pizza! You HAVE to appreciate a pizza w/a VERY sweet sauce. This used to be one of my favorite pizza places on the North Shore, however I hadn't been in quite a while so I figured I was overdue. I just ordered a cheese pizza with garlic. The sauce was even sweeter than I ever remember, too sweet for me who LOVES a sweet sauce pizza. And I was greatly disappointed in the garlic on this pizza. It was the garlic which comes from a jar not fresh garlic. If it had been fresh garlic it would have helped to offset the sweet sauce a bit and make for a good pizza. I also prefer a more chewy crust as well and this crust was a crunchier crust. So sadly I was not particularly pleased with this pizza. read more

Totally recommended! My friend was coming over and wanted to order in a pie, to which I replied "I'm craving pizza too, but... the pizza around here is not great. If you need a fix, very mediocre pizza will have to do." Well, he needed a fix, and so I avoided the other establishments I had ordered from before and took the plunge. I had all but lost hope in finding decent pizza in this area... and then I found Little Italy! I was a little apprehensive about ordering pizza from here because I kept seeing "sweet tomato sauce" all through their Yelp reviews. Yes, the sauce is sweet, but not a cloying sweet, and it works! When it comes to a good pizza, it's all about ratio, ya feel me? Little Italy's pies aren't drenched with sauce like a lot of other places, but provide just enough acid and sugar to balance out the cheese and oil. Crust is on the thin side, which I like, and they're generous with toppings. Service was great, person on the phone was very nice and cheerful, and the pizza delivery guy was right on time. There's a $5 delivery fee and they only deliver in Beverly, which is steep for a $13 large pizza, but after 1.5 years of disappointment with other restaurants, it's a price I'm wililng to pay. read more

Holy crap - put your cynical nature aside. If a fresh tomato, a sweet chianti, and Fried Dough had a drunken night of passionate lovemaking (i.e menage a trois) and produced an offspring - it would be this pizza. You will see alot of reviews mentioning the sauce - its sweet already - its not a chunky tomato sauce, its smooth and its sweet. Combined with a really decent crust and the toppings are basically frosting on the cake - and I love pizza toppings. We did a Pepperoni/Meatball - gone in about 4 minutes. Then we did a Chix/Broccoli and Ricotta - one slice left. But seriously - well worth the trip to Beverly. The restaurant is a small little pizza cafe - its small - crappy ass tables but its pizza - what did you want linen covered tables!?!? Comic book store next store was closed but the bike shop around the corner is pretty decent to kill 10 minutes while you waking for the the goodness that is this pizza. read more

Upon entering Little Italy I was met by one of the most sassy restaurant owners I have experienced in a while. I am generally ok with difficult managment/workers as long as the food itself is worth the akwardness of dealing a disgruntled employee. This food however was not worth it. The pizza was barely tolerable. The sauce was too sweet which made the thin crust this pizza's only redeeming quality. Not worth another trip. Also, if you go to Endicott and plan on using your Gull Card expect an uncomfortable few minutes as the man behind the counter expresses his hatred for the use of these cards. read more
